Best 70s dance songs for weddings

And Electabuzz is already finished. Sometimes, I just really feel like doing a run and just because I can. Electabuzz was a Pokemon I loved in XD, my history with it came from the Elekid you could get in a trade named Zaprong. It was the MVP of all my teams in XD, even when half my team was Electric type already. Without further ado...
Up to Brock: Moveset: Quick Attack, Leer Electabuzz actually has more Attack than I thought. It's good that he has a nice stat for it. It's nearly as much as Special in this case. I had confidence Electabuzz would be very good at this. He had more than enough power to take down Gary's Bulbasaur, and he got through Viridian Forest pretty well. Nearly ran out of Quick Attacks, but I managed to do it by using Leer to help save my last bits of PP. I took out Gary 1A very quickly, too, and didn't even have a rough time against Buzz Lightyear. Sandshrew's Sand-Attacks hardly did anything. Even before getting Thunderbolt, I was doing pretty damn well. I did utilize Leer against Geodude to try to keep his Defenses low while I hit him with Quick Attack. It didn't work the first time, but I grinded up just one level, from 12 to 13, and while I took a beating from Geodude, I took him out. Then Onix... played the absolute worst I had ever seen him play. He kept switching between Screech and Bide, never using Tackle once, allowing me to lower him to -6 Defense, killing him off.
Up to Misty: Moveset: Quick Attack, Leer, Mega Punch, Thunder Wave I caught a Spearow while going through the grass to Mt. Moon, but a Jigglypuff who came after wasted all my Poke Balls. Not a big loss, I got the Spearow. I chose the Helix Fossil. Mega Punch gave me quite a big boost in power. Not having an Electric move worried me slightly, so I chose to trounce Gary 2. Turned out all Electabuzz had to do was clench his fists and punch through his entire team, much like Kangaskhan did. Now I felt like a boss. I punched through Nugget Bridge, punched through a few other trainers, and then I remembered Seismic Toss. I knew I had to beat both the Hiker and the Jr. Trainer to get it now, but I chose to get it now. Through Leer and Mega Punch, I pummeled the Geodudes down. Still wouldn't advise it. It'd make a bit more sense to utilize Cut when you get it later to go here, I think. When I came back to heal after that... battle, I came back to see if I could handle Misty. I was able to handle her, too. The Thunder Wave I picked up to help kept Starmie at bay, Leer made sure her X Defends did nothing, and I punched through both of Misty's starfish.
Up to Surge: Moveset: Body Slam, Seismic Toss, Mega Punch, Thunder Wave I went back to obtain the S.S. Ticket, and got to the boat pretty fast. Got the Seismic Toss as well. Felt pretty good about the pace at the moment. As I did, I went through all the normal fights I usually did, and Gary 3 went by pretty fast. Body Slam just solidified my damage even more than normal. I slammed through everything he had. I got Cut after I traded for Dux, and I caught a Diglett when I left the boat. Surge was yet again, an easy fight. I spammed Body Slam through the whole fight. Except with Voltorb. I ended it with Mega Punch to conserve Body Slam PP. Legitimately, having both those moves isn't always bad.
Up to Erika: Moveset: Body Slam, Psychic, Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave You'd think Boomer would mess him up. He didn't. Seismic Toss was a 2HKO on each of his three Pokemon, even the Graveler. It chose to hit me with Tackle, which did jack, and shit. Do I even need to mention Gary 4? I had Thunderbolt. My man tore through his team at that point. ZAPPITY ZAP ZAP DOUBLE D! Oh, and I Body Slammed Kadabra and Ivysaur pretty easily. These stats are PERFECT for solo running. I stopped to both buy the Reflect TM from the Celadon store, and also to get Psychic from Saffron. Psychic beat up Giovanni 1 straight up, and while Erika gave me a reset because Vileplume hit with a strong Sleep Powder, I kicked her butt. Psychic swept her, too.
Up to Koga: Moveset: Same Well, this felt like a literal lightning round. I got Fly for Dux to get back to Lavender, and again, Psychic got through it, even Ghost Marowak didn't like Psychic very much. Snorlax got zapped out, and I cycled to the gym immediately. I was already underleveled, and despite this, I won with Psychic. Now... Weezing's Sludge HURT like a bitch, but I took it out. I still had the speed to win. Good enough for me.
Up to Sabrina: Moveset: NOW I'M MOTIVATED! I hope that helps signify how I felt about this thing. Rival Fival didn't have me reset. I just zapped through one part of his team (being Pidgeot, Gyarados, and Growlithe), slammed Alakazam out of the way, and Psychic was good enough to take down Venusaur. With a crit. Giovanni 2 was yet another sweep with Psychic (though Kangaskhan took the zap), and Sabrina wasn't bad at all. Body Slam killed Kadabra, Mr. Mime got zapped out, Venomoth took two Psychics, and I zapped Alakazam with a Thunder Wave. It hit me with Psywaves as I kept slamming it. The first one did 1 damage. Literally 1. MY GIRL, STOP USING THIS!
Up to Blaine: YOU SHALL DIE.. SHISHISNSIHISNSHING... Um... Zappity Zap Zap... Double D... I'm beginning to think I need a new bit. Did this while also being underleveled.
Up to Giovanni 3: I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROAAAACHIIINNGGGG... Despite the fact that only two of his Pokemon are actually weak to Psychic, I took out his whole team with Psychic. While still being underleveled. Again.
Gary 6: Moveset: Body Slam, Psychic, Thunderbolt, Reflect I used my Rare Candies now, for sure, because I was sure I couldn't be THIS underleveled anymore. I took a reset here, too, I think because Pidgeot Quick Attacked me. Or because I missed a Thunderbolt on Gyarados and took a strong Hydro Pump. Either way, not good. Thunderbolt killed Pidgeot, Psychic ended Rhyhorn, I then shocked Growlithe and Gyarados, slammed down Alakazam, and I crit on Venusaur with Psychic again.
Elite Four: Moveset: PROOVOOOKINNGG... BLACK CLOUDS IN ISOLAAATIIOONN... I AM RECLAIMER OF MY NAAAAAMMMEEEE!!! BORN IN FLAMES, I HAVE BEEN BLESSED, MY FAMILY CREST IS A DEMON OF DEATH!!!! Yet I am an Electric type. I could care less of my type not matching up to the lyrics, for now, I am against the League. My level was low enough to where I made it necessary to fight several Victory Road Trainers. Turned out, that was enough.
Lorelei: I will spare you the zap bit and just say Thunderbolt did it.
Bruno: Same as Lorelei, but I set up Reflect and spammed Psychic.
Agatha: Psychic did it. Thunderbolted the Golbat.
Lance: After Gyarados died to Thunderbolt, I set up Reflect, and spammed Psychic on the Dragonairs, and used Thunderbolt on Aerodactyl and Dragonite. And to think I was debating between Reflect and Light Screen...
Champion Gary: I set up Reflect immediately, zapped Pidgeot, slammed Alakazam, it lived to also copy my strat, then I zapped it. Rhydon died to Psychic... Gyarados and Arcanine both die to Thunderbolt, and I hit Venusaur with Psychic. It's Mega Drain did nothing, and then Psychic finished it off.
I won at Level 63 and at a time of 3:58.

I need a nanny for my 5 month old. I interviewed several nannies and clicked with 2. I really don’t know how to decide which one to go with.
Nanny A: Nannying is her passion and career. Older nanny and is very energetic. Always takes initiative. Many, many years of experience. Takes child outside everyday on adventures which include driving (ie playground, park, story time, zoo). Sing songs and dances with babies/kids. Was previously a preschool teacher. Hates micromanaging. Hates itineraries. Is very respectful of parent’s instructions but usually does things at her discretion. According to her references her being 5-10 late is not uncommon. No light housecleaning because kid is #1 priority. $30/hr
Nanny B: Younger very, very friendly nanny but came as a referral because she was my older daughter’s classmate’s nanny. Never late. Is very willing to take on more hours. Does light housecleaning during kid’s naps. Will go to parks and playgrounds but will not drive. Is attentive to child’s needs. Does everything parents ask $28/hr
Both nannies seem very trustworthy. It’s just I’m not sure who to go with. I’m not planning to micromanage because I have to go into the office and I won’t be home. I would just want the nanny to follow my sweet spot from Huckleberry + look for sleepy cues tbh.
I plan to do a trial with both to see who I click with and if they click with me. Is there anything else I should consider?

Possum - Unusual jam which breaks into very un-"Possum"-like sections at 6:00 and again at 7:00. Not typical at all, but very exploratory for "Possum."
Carini - Deploying an array of instruments and effects, including the theremin and bass effects, the band uses these tools to create a lush, densely textured and largely upbeat jam which -> to "Taste."
Taste - -> in from a excellent "Carini." Page is great in this version, which is also features Trey playing both a "Norwegian Wood" tease early in his solo, as well as the "NICU" riff signaling the concluding section. > to a strong "Ghost."
Boogie On Reggae Woman - Segues out of "Ghost" and includes some serious hose from Trey and reaches several satisfying peaks. Drops back into a funk groove for the last minute and the jam fades away into "If I Could".
If I Could - > in from a powerful "Boogie On." Heartfelt and thoughtfully executed version adds a graceful ending to an impressive string of improvisational music.

Divided Sky - Determined to make up for some serious flubs in the 5/31/11 version, Trey in this instance introduces some very cool and very different staccato playing during the jam section.
Rock and Roll - Another excellent version with an extended jam that at various times is rhythmic, melodic, spacious, and powerful. Segue to "Mango Song" continues to draw praise from fans.
Show Notes:
This show marked the Phish debut of Rhymes. Antelope contained Meatstick, Bug, and Divided Sky teases. Suzy also contained Meatstick teases. After Bug, the crowd chanted "Let's Go Bruins" prompting the band to play in rhythm with the crowd's clapping. During the "Rye Rye Rocco" segment of Antelope, Trey introduced Fish as "Ladies and Gentlemen, on cymbal, Jon Fishman!" after he had missed the band's unified stop in the song.

Fee - Like 7/5/98, a vocal flub leads to an extended outro jam that quickly moves beyond the norm. Page's ambient effects and Trey's use of the whammy pedal combine to create a jam reminiscent of the late '90's sound.
Sand - One of the first great jams of 3.0. This version contains an old-school groove which goes "type 2" via a funk jam and an uplifting conclusion by way of a repetitive, descending riff from Trey.
Tweezer - The "Camden Tweezer." Old school, repetitive, amazing groove. Like a '92-'94 version.
Show Notes:
After forgetting the lyrics to Fee, Trey remarked that "We knew this one backstage." This show marked the debuts of Sugar Shack and Joy. Before the extended encore, Trey asked, "You guys in a rush to go anywhere?" He then talked about how much they had enjoyed the northeast run and that they wanted to play a few more songs before heading south (though he was careful to note that they love the south, too).

Possum - Several sections have a bleak and desolate tone, especially from 4:30 - 5:45, but the foreboding sentiment returns later.
Taste - Debut. Jam section features the same spiraling Trey and Page musicianship, but the lyrics, vocalist, and ending would remain a work in progress for another year. "The Fog That Surrounds" and "Taste That Surrounds" are both very similar (related) songs performed in 1995 as the band tinkered with the format for "Taste." The Wedge - "The Wedge" reemerges to close a 135 show gap. Notable principally for the now-familiar Fish-driven intro, this compact version also features cool and confident play from Trey.
Theme From the Bottom - Jam section has an unusual, repeated descending chord progression. At 8:20, it morphs into a creepy, nerve-rattling jam, returning to "Theme" proper at 9:55. The quality versions from 6/25/95 and 7/1/95 have a similar descending chord structure.

I suppose you start regaining control of yourself just as soon as you stop drinking, but it sure doesn’t feel like it at first. “June Gloom” captures those feelings of just falling through chaos and hoping something better will eventually “bloom”. Drinking can be a flawed coping mechanism, some warped attempt at feeling in control, even if it is just to keep repeating a behavior that has a bad but predictable result. Initial withdrawal feels like being out of control, cold, shaking, fearful, hollowed. It really wasn’t something I could do on my own, apparently. So I started going to the recovery meetings and interacting a bit here. I actually don’t care much for summer in real life, at least not where I live. I used to work outdoors a lot and disliked the brutal, humid heat we get. But I get the general sentiment of feeling cold and alone, missing the warmth and brightness of summer. I don’t like being overheated and sweating to death doing yard work, but we all need some warmth and light to live.

Hey everyone, this is my first post on this sub. The music in question is Wyclef and Friends on the TV show “VH1 Storytellers” in 1999. Specifically the performance of Wyclef’s song “Guantanamera” Not sure if there is a platform where I can access all of the VH1 storytelllers episodes online? Looks like Apple TV offers only a select amount of seasons. Trying to find any video/audio from season 4 episode 10 specifically. Was told this session had one of the best live versions of “Guantanamera” to ever be performed. The Lost Media wiki claims this episode had been totally lost. Paramount plus was another lead I dug into, however, I came up short once again. Okay... Let's just say I am rehashing every relationship I've ever been in to see where I failed, they failed, miscommunications, or etc.
From 15 to 18 I was with a man 4 years older then me. ( Will call him Red)At the time I thought it made me "special" being a freshman in highschool and a dating a freshman in college. All the parents were against it but they knew irregardless the more the pulled us apart the more we'd rebel. Anyways by the time I was 16.5 he cheated on me with his best friend and all of my friends, but first he played me at my naivety like most parents warn all girls about. By the time I was 19 about to turn 20 Red suddenly expressed interest again and played the role of competing against the other dominate male for the prize. While Down continued his work as did I we both came to the conclusion that Red matched someone who had potentially did something to a fellow friend of an old friend. Red started to stalk our place and then one day he suddenly attacked Down and almost threw him off the 4 floor penthouse loft balcony. Red fled afterwards and Down and I decided to focus on our career choices. Since that day he always referred to me as his fallen star. The mutual old friend and I got together and discussed the occurrences in surrounding cities of Reds old high school. Me being the fearless type offered to check it out since I knew the person who was familiar....Red. Nothing ever really checked out until a group of his biker buddies tried to get even for asking to many questions. Point is I saw Down a few times after, relatively after each birth of my children. So my question is, in Hines sight is it wrong of me to want to process all the last 20 years of my discoveries with Down about Red? Or should I just wrap it up and go forward with/without Faith of a better future?!?

Alright, the ending to the title is a bit of a stretch, but I promise I'm still cool.
Hate to repost this seeing as it was up nearly the whole day, and got removed because I didn't put my general location. Very cool, but I guess it's the rules. I've fixed it just to have it up for anyone else that wants to toss a message my way!
I've been on here a couple times over the last few years, and while I've had some pretty good experiences mixed with some fairly bad ones, nothing ever stuck too much. So here I am again, tossing my hat in the ring to see what happens. I don't actually have a hat, but I'll probably go out and buy one shortly after making this post, and toss it into some sort of ring for good luck.
Some general outlines about myself:
I'm a baker, and I own a bakery with my sister. We've been open a bit over two years now, and it's been pretty enjoyable.
I indeed listen to a lot of metal. But that's not all! Nearly most anything. I have been into synthwave for years since the whole flood of that type of music being brought back. Darkwave stuff is a real favorite, too. My metal tastes hover around death and black these days. 80s and 90s music in general, classical, piano, a Spotify playlist entitle "songs the white folk get lit to", you name it.
I am a big enjoyer of horror. Movies and games. I tend to watch older and more cheesy stuff these days. B Horror is amazing. Troll 2, Street Trash, Slime City, stuff like that. Just recently watched Tammy and the T-Rex, and I'm a big fan. Also love stuff like The Room and Neil Breen movies.
I play a lot of horror games as well. Games in general really. I stream horror games on Twitch a few nights out of the week. Amnesia: The Bunker is in the list in the next few days. Also currently playing Diablo IV, so if you are playing that then I'd love to have someone to play with since my friend ended up not getting it.
I have a really dry, sarcastic, dark, and weird sense of humor. A blend that I've been perfecting over the years. If you like Tim and Eric style humor, we would probably get along fairly well based off that. I've been told I'm hard to read because of the way I casually joke about everything, and don't have the reactions people expect when they tell me things they think are weird to be telling someone. I'm not at all easily offended. I think out of anything that this is the biggest thing for me. Probably should have out this at the top. Anything else is just added flavor, but I do need someone to match that sense of humor to just feel comfortable talking to, and not like I'm holding myself back.
All that said, I'd love to find someone to talk to. Where that goes I can't say. I've tried a lot in the past to specifically look for relationships, and that always seems to not work out the best. I'd like for that to just happen without worrying about it being the end goal right away. So, yeah, I'm open to anything that feels right.

A couple of days back, I saw a post stating how 2k can improve the MyNBA mode. As someone with 800 hours of playtime on the game and a MyNBA mode content creator, I wanted to add to that list that I saw a couple of days ago while adding some more things. I'm hoping this gets enough traction to garner some likes, and a curious 2k dev spots this and presents it to the rest of his/her team.

1. Aging

This is a major problem, that takes away from the realism of the game. Over the course of time, I want to see my players' age, specifically the star players. There's no reason Michael Jordan should still have hair past 1988. Kobe should not have to rock an afro his entire career. Carmelo Anthony and Stephen Curry look well into their 30s when they're drafted. At the very least, when editing players we should be able to change their appearances under their styles. A number of players have this problem, just to name a few: Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Stephen Curry, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson.

1. Fans

For the love of God, please fix the fans and this black shirt issue. After you simulate the past a couple of decades, specifically getting to the current era when you jump into games, the fan's clothing becomes glitched. Everyone in the arena will be wearing all black, and it just takes away from the feel of the game. Not only that but there are no fans wearing accurate jerseys. It substitutes accurate jerseys for colored shirts and jerseys, which makes the game feel like it's being played with a created team.

1. PA Announcing

In NBA 2k22, 2k introduced real PA announcers to the game. This was one of the best moves they've ever made, and I commend them for adding this realistic feature to the game. These PA announcers can say EVERY single player's name in the game besides a select few. So why not just keep the same PA announcers across every single decade? For the decades prior to the current era, they use the generic 2k announcers from previous games. This leads to the announcers being unable to say the correct names of their teams, cheerleading and hype squads, and more. Instead, introducing the teams as the "home team", or referring to cheer squads as simply dance teams. This takes away from realism and is something that should be a relatively easy fix.

1. Coaching Staff

Just because I start the league in 1984, does not mean Greg Popovich ceases to exist. When the time comes for these coaches to come around, just simply place them in the coaching pool during the offseason. I don't want to simulate from 1984 and get to 1996 with no sign of Pop at all. By the time I got to 2023, many of today's current coaches ceased to exist, which was truly annoying. This led to many legendary coaches being left out of the league. This is a must-fix.

1. Playbooks

2k did a stellar job with the classic gameplay in my opinion. However, they did not do a good job with the evolution of the game. It shouldn't be 2023 with coaches still running plays from the 1986 playbooks. As the game evolves, the playbooks need to evolve too. Stephen Curry should not be running post-ups in 2015, he should be jacking up threes. This is a definite must-fix, as not only did this last up until 2023, but carried on all the way to 2050. No coach will be running plays from a 1984 playbook in 2025 unless it's a pick-and-roll.

1. Jerseys

Next, this is a smaller issue: add more alternate jerseys from the past strictly for this game mode and correctly update the Nike jerseys in 2017. I simply want more jersey variety for the earlier decades, but once the league starts to get into 2017, at the very minimum, at least correctly update all teams to their current-day Nike apparel. Put teams in their warmups, instead of treating them like a created team, and put them in their Nike jerseys. There were a couple of teams who were still rocking their classic looks, while most teams had their current-day Nike jerseys on. I understand it isn't easy to provide us with accurate jerseys for each team, since Nike changes looks every year, but at least keep the entire league on the same page.

1. Draft classes

One last small request, but make draft classes more accurate. Kobe was not expected to go number one in 1996. I see how it would be difficult to change, and lead to players not panning out, but the accuracy would be appreciated.

This is a dream report for me to document these strange experiences & hopefully receive some feedback. I plan to make more reports when I have vivid dreams that I can recollect.
So a couple nights ago I dreamed of being at a school dance. Presumably night time? Anyway it was weird just like all dreams are. In the dream I attended this dance with my ex girlfriend who I had recently broken up with. What I remember is walking through the halls & gym which were filled with students. For some reason a girl kept flirting with me & making my ex jealous. She consistently appeared through these scenes in my dream. Eventually my ex got fed up & left. I remember being outside the door before she left, telling her “hey!” she looked at me & for some reason I just said “stay safe out there” which gave her a look of disappointment. After that I went to go search for that girl & I found her sitting in the lunch room with a classmate. All I remember now is these scenes flashing in my head of us being together, kissing & giving affection towards each other. Not going to lie I felt like I was in love. The dream ended with her leaving on a school bus & waving goodbye to her in the morning.
This is the best that I can remember. In the dream it was actually longer I’d say but I’m not too sure. The whole day I felt so depressed & lonely. What’s crazy is the girl in my dream was actually someone who I graduated with. She was next to me the whole ceremony & struck up conversations with me. I knew her from school but we never actually spoke to each other & I knew she liked me because after my class period I’d always catch her giving me a smile in the halls. She moved away which kills my heart even more. Part of me wishes I got know her. It makes me sad. Please give me any feedback.

So, I know it's a bad idea to date your ex but that's not why I'm making this post. Me and my ex broke up 1.5 years ago after being together for 2 years. I was a horrible girlfriend due to very severe untreated mental health issues. I couldn't have asked for a better boyfriend; honest, loving and incredibly patient. He was my rock and got me through very dark times. I broke up with him 4 or 5 times, took his love and support for granted, blamed my problems on him. The last breakup really messed him up and he became colder, bitter and jaded. We continued to talk, however, and he's spent the past two years trying to get back together. The intense connection we have has stopped us letting go.
During this time, there was an incident where I had a gut feeling that he had slept with someone at a party. When I asked him, he lied to my face and gaslighted me despite me saying that I wasn't mad, I just wanted to know. 3 days later he fessed up out of guilt. I know that the way I treated him is what led to him losing some of his best traits and becoming a liar. Because I knew that it was partly my own fault and I felt guilty for what I had done to him, we stayed in contact. We started dating again at the end of May last month as I decided I finally wanted to give our relationship another go, now that I'm getting treatment for my mental health issues and no longer lashing out at him instead. I feel a lot of guilt for what I did and we have discussed everything and decided that we'd go into this with a clean slate.
My trust in his 'honesty' has been destroyed by the previous lies. I had a gut feeling that he wasn't telling me everything and I decided to trust my gut this time instead of his word. So I did a bad thing, and when he was asleep I looked though his phone. Well, my intuition was right. He likes to write messages in his notes app before copying them to send, and he also uses it as a journal it seems. I found these things in his notes, and no evidence of them actually being sent to anyone:

1. A few, since September: Draft messages to me in his notes app calling me a s***, disgusting and easy. He always denied this when I asked him if he thought badly of me for sleeping with other people while we'd been broken up. We both have slept with 3 other people (as far as he's told me) since being broken up. He has never ever sent me anything like I found in his notes. These looked like alternative answers in response to messages I had sent during an actual conversation we had, to which he had said that he's never think that of me. He has never spoken to me or used insults like those against me to my face so I was really shocked to see this vitriol directed at me. I feel like I don't even know who this person is.
2. A few different ones, ranging from January: What looks like draft messages/copies of a message to Izzy, who I'd suspected he has been interested in (he denied it vehemently). These messages were clearly flirtatious but didn't seem to indicated that he had slept with her, more like he was trying to. Almost like he was coming up with ideas about messages he could send her? But weirdly, I combed through his phone and there hasn't been a single message sent between them. He only has her on Snapchat, and I would've been able to tell if any messages were ever sent.
3. End of last month: A draft message to me, saying that he no longer wanted to see me or speak to me because he had been seeing Izzy and that it had gotten serious enough that he didn't want to mess things up with her by having me in his life. Another draft to me, seemingly in response to an imagined conversation, said " because Izzy doesn't sleep with other people while I'm seeing her". Again, never sent to me.
4. December time: A draft message to me saying that he sleeps with people behind my back and doesn't tell me about it because it makes him feel better about the fact that I don't want him the way he wants me. Never sent to me - in fact, he's spent this entire time giving me shit about not being focused enough on him. He has also vehemently insisted that he hasn't slept with anyone I don't know about, and that I know everything.
5. A draft message to some friend I guess saying that it's been 6 months and he hasn't slept with anyone except me. (don't remember when but I think December-ish?).
6. Maybe 3-4 months ago: a note saying that the only way to get with Izzy is to stop watching porn and masturbating (weird and gross - I guess he means because she's very pretty and has an amazing body)
7. Mid last month: a copy of a message in his notes, seemingly to one of him and Izzy's mutual friends, saying "is it true that Izzy snores haha" (cringey as hell)
8. A few months ago (I think?): in his notes, copied text/or drafts of messages seemingly from him to a male friend (with the friend's responses) saying "don't tell anyone, but I slept with Izzy", and the responses "I don't understand it bro but well done haha", praising him for sleeping with her

Since seeing this, I've tried to ask him questions about these things to see if he'd lie or admit it. He has denied everything over and over e.g. have you never been interested in/dated anyone else, like Izzy? "No, I've been 100% focused on you". When I pressed him he insisted that while he found her attractive he never wanted anything more than friendship. I think he was planning to hook up with Izzy behind my back but hasn't gone through with it (yet) and was preparing the messages to me ahead of that. I believe he still loves me but resents me for the way I treated him and hurting his ego. He's embarrassed about being dumped many times and coming back every time. I think he is addicted to me; that as much as he wants to walk away he can't bring himself to, so he's getting revenge instead by hurting me and sneaking around behind my back.
I don't even care if anything happened with Izzy. What's upsetting me is that he lied again with such conviction despite me telling him so many times that honesty and getting all the skeletons out of the closet is the only way to leave the past behind us. I assured him I wouldn't be mad and I'd let it go if he had anything to tell me but he still chose to lie after promising me he wouldn't ever lie again. The relationship is dead to me, I am leaving without a doubt just as soon as I confront him with his lies. I know that the whole situation is incredibly toxic from both our sides, and that I shouldn't have snooped - please don't comment just to tell me that, I already know. I just want to know how to handle this and find out what actually happened with him and Izzy and what else he's lied about. I can't walk away without telling him I know he's still a liar and trying to get the truth or it will eat me up. How can I approach this with him, without giving him a chance to think of excuses or delete evidence? I am worried he'll flip it back onto my snooping and gaslight me about what I found. What do you all think - did anything actually happened with him and Izzy? Is it just his fantasy?
TL;DR: dating my ex again and while snooping I've found out that he is lying about seeing someone, but I don't know what's the lie and what's the truth. How can I find out what really happened without giving him a chance to cover his tracks?

TW: Abuse
So quick overview, I (23mtf) discovered that I'm trans around November of last year after 16 years of wishing I could change into a girl. My parents (both approaching 60) didn't have a clue about it, and I'm only starting to come out to them now. My mom took the news great, but she warned me that I shouldn't tell my dad until I was a bit more sure of myself.
We don't talk too often because I'm married and at college a few states away, and he uses verbal and mental abuse to stay in control of the family because he doesn't work or take care of the house. Because of this, I do my best to only talk on occasion. Yesterday, he called me to see if I was attending a cousin's wedding (I'm not) and then started discussing politics. My dad is the kind of guy that is considering becoming an independent because the Republican party is too leftist for him, so I wasn't too shocked at the comments he had about trans people. What did shock me was how much uninformed hate he had for the entire trans community based on nothing but right-wing talking points.
According to him, trans people are trying to (1) force toddlers to have gender affirming surgeries before they can speak, (2) scheming to rape women in bathrooms, and (3) using their organizations (like this reddit) to conduct a campaign of mass shootings. He then said that I should go watch the Daily Wire's documentary on trans women and talk to him once I watched it. I struggle to have any constructive conversations with him because he doesn't converse, he talks over anyone who disagrees. I did my best to debunk accusations, but like a lot of people who don't actually care about the facts, that only made him more and more entrenched in his position.
Here is the conundrum: my mother, who is supportive and kind about my identity, expects me to come out to him still. Because I still have multiple siblings that live in their house and he might try to limit their contact with me if he found out before I came out, I'm feeling a little lost and discouraged because I can't see this all going well. To be honest, that conversation made me feel like shit and sent me into a depressive spiral since it happened. I don't see any change coming soon that would help me out either.
I need some help figuring out what to do. Any advice?

On June 30, 24 days from now my parents will be hosting a BBQ to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.They've invited all of their kids and grandkids so they can take a picture of everyone together. My dad texted me informing me that it's being hosted and that it's important to him that I (and my family) attend. Even if it's "just for the picture." Last fall we went through a low contact phase due to their conservative attitudes, politically incorrect sense of humor, them acting like victims in the gender conversation and them insisting on never excluding family. I do love them however so we all agreed on shallow conversations and visiting their farm to collect eggs and see my parents about once a month. I have BPD and PTSD and had several traumatic experiences growing up, none of which were their fault, they definitely did the best they could with what they knew and were capable of. I'm the youngest of 7, (26 F) I grew up with sibling 6(27M) and the other 5 were in their mid to late teens when we were both born and already moved out (just so you know my parents were already tired of kids before we were born). Sibling 6 was my very best friend we were inseparable, at 6 years old he started to battle with a liver disease that slowly was killing him and all we could do was wait for a transplant. For the next 7 years my mom supported him in the hospital, I felt like I rarely saw her. My birthday parties were often canceled cause there were no adults to plan them, we had campouts in his hospital room instead of nature, I took on cooking dinners, picking groceries, and tidying up and the only parental attention I really received was left over from my exhausted mum, or from my dad who worked way too much and was becoming a non-functioning alcoholic. I didn't mind any of it. All I wanted was for my best friend to survive and he did. Soon after he returned however he SA'd me. He was (14 and I was 12). After a while of feeling responsible and holding that weight, I eventually told my mum and she had him apologize and my dad just never acknowledged it. My sibling then did it to a 9-year-old I used to babysit and at that point, he was 14. As soon as she told me I told her mum and they called the police and my mum was mad that we didn't go to her first. She asked me not to tell people about it cause it'd change the way people looked at him and ruin the life he was just given through the transplant. All this to be said I never felt like I was a priority, worth protecting or being safe. I've done a lot of self-work and I've taken a lot of space from my family. I'm trying to avoid black-or-white thinking and find a way to feel like I have a family. My parents have always refused to not invite him to family events so it was my choice to celebrate things with my family or be the one person sitting out so I often went and just dealt with my feelings after. that is until I became a mom and I saw my brother hugging my 2-year-old and every hair stood on end. I need to protect my kid like my parents wouldn't. I can't be putting my child in a position where he thinks this is a safe person to be around. So I put my foot down, I decided I was done going to events he was at and I'd just celebrate separately with my parents or the siblings I talk to. I asked them to stop inviting him but they insisted that they'll not exclude one of their children to please another. Fine. that's on them. I then asked to just stop being invited myself and we can just have a relationship that is as if I'm an only child. They agreed, Just to continue to invite me. My therapist asked "what's wrong with being invited and just declining?" because they do accept my no but the problem is that the invite leaves me feeling not chosen, not protected, not valid. I don't know what is my disordered thinking and what's real. I don't know how to respond to the BBQ invite. It feels like this picture is more important to them than supporting my desire to not be around my abuser. It would be easy for me to cut them out 100% if I thought they were bad, evil people but I just don't believe that. I believe they're parents desperate for their family to be functional and pressuring me into conforming may seem like the only way to do that. I empathize with them, the idea of having to exclude one child to help the other seems f'd up.. I'm just tired of being collateral damage.

Sorry for taking so long to get this posted! I’ve been putting in more than 60 hours a week at work lately, and I just didn’t have time to properly research this post.
This week, the topic under discussion is Joseph’s wives and the way that he personally practiced plural marriage. It’s true that some of the circumstances a little unusual compared to how later members practiced it, and it’s also true that sealing practices in general were unusual compared to how we practice them today. The world was also very different in the 1840s than it is today in the 2020s.
All of that means that it can be very difficult for us to understand what was going on and why. I’m going to do my best to break this all down so that it makes sense, but just remember, it’s okay if it makes you uncomfortable. It’s okay if you don’t like the idea of plural marriage. It’s okay if you don’t ever want to practice it. I don’t, either.
But I do have a firm testimony that it was commanded by God. That testimony didn’t just magically appear one day. I had to earn it. I had to get on my knees and pray, and I had to ask Heavenly Father whether He instituted it or not. I had to study the issue and the circumstances surrounding it. More importantly, I had to ask Him to help me understand the reasons why He instituted it.
That’s the only way to really know for yourself.
So, having said that, let’s get into Faulk’s claims.

• The Women

Due to the secretive nature of Joseph’s affairs, the actual total number of wives Joseph took is unclear. Written records, primary accounts and second hand accounts puts the number between 29-65 women.

They were not affairs, they were sealings. Sixty-five is also a pretty exaggerated number. Most reputable sources put it at around 30-35. And again, remember that sealings are different than marriages, even though we often perform them together today. Many of those sealings were for eternity only, not for both time and eternity the way that sealings are done today. In fact, some of those wives, such as Cordelia Morley and Rachel Ivins Grant, did not have any kind of union with him at all while he was alive, and were sealed to Joseph for the very first time after he was already dead.
One thing to remember is that the sealing power is to seal us all together as one giant family. It’ll be one unbroken chain connecting all of us together. Many of these sealings of Joseph’s were done for that specific reason, to bind families together in the next life. That’s why there were things like adoption sealings, where people would be “adopted” into each other’s families through the sealing process. Siblings were sometimes sealed together. Women who were married to men who were not members of the Church would sometimes to be sealed to righteous Priesthood holders for the next life.
Also, it drives me batty that Faulk keeps repeating that Joseph took wives. None of them were married to him against their will. They all had a choice in the matter.

Most disturbing was the fact that many of these women were already married, much younger and related to each other.

Why is that “most disturbing”? The women were all of legal marriageable age, and there is no evidence of any sexual relations between Joseph and any of the civilly married women, or with any of the youngest wives.
One of the reasons it’s believed that Joseph was sealed to so many women who were already married is because he was trying to satisfy God’s commandment while not hurting Emma. If he was sealing himself to married women, he wouldn’t have to actually marry them and live together as husband and wife. As the Gospel Topics Essay Plural Marriage in Kirtland and Nauvoo says:

These sealings may also be explained by Joseph’s reluctance to enter plural marriage because of the sorrow it would bring to his wife Emma. He may have believed that sealings to married women would comply with the Lord’s command without requiring him to have normal marriage relationships. This could explain why, according to Lorenzo Snow, the angel reprimanded Joseph for having “demurred” on plural marriage even after he had entered into the practice. After this rebuke, according to this interpretation, Joseph returned primarily to sealings with single women.

Joseph’s youngest wife, Helen Mar Kimball Whitney, was sealed to Joseph when she was fourteen. We’ll discuss her in some detail a little later in this post. But that union was done for dynastic/adoptive reasons at her father’s request, to join Heber C. Kimball’s family to Joseph’s in the eternities.
And, believe it or not, some of the women who practiced plural marriage probably found it easier to do so when the other wife was biologically related to them. After all, they already loved them and knew how to live together with them in harmony.

1. Married: Between 8-11 women were married to other men at the time Joseph took them for his wives.

And every single one of them remained married to their husbands after they were sealed to Joseph. That’s because, again, sealings and marriages are not the same thing, and sealings for the next life had no bearing on their marriages in this one. Joseph did not live with these women as husband and wife.

He sent several men on missions for the Church then married their wives, or married their wives in secret and then sent the husbands on missions afterwards.

Many of the husbands in question knew about the sealings and even participated in them. Joseph also did not send the husbands on missions so he could marry their wives in secret.

• Marinda Nancy Johnson-Hyde-Smith

In September 1831, Joseph and Emma Smith moved in with the Johnson family while Joseph and Sidney Rigdon worked on translating the Bible. While staying with the Johnsons in March, 1832, Joseph Smith was dragged out by a mob and tarred and feathered. Marinda’s brother Eli led the mob because he felt that Joseph had been too intimate with Marinda.

Um. No. Eli Johnson was Marinda’s uncle, not her brother, and he wasn’t the leader of the mob. The mob also didn’t attack him for that reason. Marinda herself said that Joseph had never acted inappropriately while he was staying in her father’s home. This accusation was first introduced during the infamous 1884 Braden-Kelley debate, and repeated by Fawn Brodie, Grant Palmer, and a host of others.
The mob was led by Symonds Ryder and Ezra Booth, because they thought he’d try to steal their property under the Law of Consecration. They’d both already apostatized for various reasons, then led a smear campaign against Joseph and the Church through local newspapers for a while before leading the attack. The only evidence that Eli Johnson was even involved are brief reports that he was the one who provided and heated the tar. According to at least one account, he wasn’t even an active participant, but just left it out for them to use. The mob tried to castrate then murder him, and were unsuccessful in both attempts.

Soon Marinda married apostle Orson Hyde. On April 6, 1840, Orson was sent on a 3 year mission to Jerusalem. Shortly after his departure, Joseph married his wife Nancy Marinda Johnson-Hyde while Orson was gone. In Joseph Smith’s journal, in a list of his marriages he wrote “Apr 42 Marinda Johnson to Joseph Smith.” In 1858 Orson and Marinda separated.

The separation of Orson and Marinda Hyde had nothing to do with her sealing to Joseph, which had happened 15 years earlier. The rest of this is also pretty heavily distorted. Orson Hyde was sent on his mission on April 15, 1840, and returned on December 7, 1842. There are two sealing dates for Joseph and Marinda, making it unclear when it actually happened. It was written down in Joseph’s journal by his scribe Thomas Bullock as taking place in May of 1842. This entry was apparently not recorded until after July 14, 1843, however, and the affidavit Marinda signed stated that the sealing took place in May 1843, after Orson was home.
Regardless of which date is accurate, Orson was not sent on a mission so Joseph could steal his wife if the sealing happened 2-3 years after he left. They were not sealed “shortly after his departure” at all. In fact, even the earliest sealing date is closer to the date he returned than the date he left.

• Zina Diantha Huntington-Jacobs-Smith-Young

Zina was 18 when her mother died and after went to live in the Smith’s home. Soon she met Joseph’s friend, Henry Jacobs. Joseph was to officiate their wedding, but never showed. Instead, bishop John C. Bennett performed the marriage. Later, Zina asked Joseph why he didn’t show, “He told her it had been made known to him that she was to be his Celestial Wife and he could not give to another one who had been given to him.” (Henry Jacobs, History of Henry Bailey Jacobs)
During Henry and Zina’s marriage, Joseph sent Henry on 8 missions. At one point Joseph sent a message to Zina through her brother Dimick. It read, “Tell Zina I have put it off and put it off until an angel with a drawn sword has stood before me and told me if I did not establish that principle and live it, I would lose my position and my life and the Church could progress no further.” After four proposals and pressured with the responsibility for the life of the prophet, Zina finally accepted. (Brian C. Hales, Mormon Historical Studies 11, no. 2 (Fall 2010): 69–70.)

That last line there is a pretty big exaggeration of what the article actually says. In fact, the article doesn’t talk about Zina Huntington at all. The only place she’s mentioned at all is her inclusion in a chart of the different accounts of the angel with the drawn sword. I’ve included a screenshot of the only three mentions of her from Faulk’s cited source. In fact, it’s actually a paraphrased line from Todd Compton’s In Sacred Loneliness.
Zina, however, clarified that she came to accept the principle through searching the scriptures and praying, and that she received an answer from God that it was from Him. It wasn’t because she felt pressured into it at all.
Unfortunately, it’s hard to pin down exact details when it comes to Zina’s timeline, as there are a lot of discrepancies. When I wrote my response to the CES Letter, I cited liberally from a book titled 4 Zinas: A Story of Mothers and Daughters on the Mormon Frontier. This book used to be housed on the Internet Archive, but has since been taken down. Forgive me that I can’t show exact pages anymore on those citations. Many years after all these events took place, Zina gave testimony saying that she first learned of the principle of plural marriage from Dimick, who had heard it from Joseph. Other sources, seemingly reliant on her diary, say that she learned it from Joseph while she was staying at his home. Some sources say that Joseph proposed to her three times while she was living at his home and that she refused him each time out of respect for Emma. Other sources say she declined to give him an answer and kept putting him off, also out of respect for Emma. Some sources say that Joseph wrote Zina a letter saying he’d been threatened by an angel with a drawn sword, while others say that it was a verbal message passed to her by Dimick, who had been sent to offer her another proposal (even though she was already married to Henry Jacobs at that point). Some sources say that Henry was present for that initial sealing to Joseph, but absent from the other resealing to Joseph for eternity and sealing to Brigham for time. Others say Henry was there for the sealing to Brigham, but are silent on whether he was there for the first sealing to Joseph. Zina said in her later testimony that it was just Joseph, her, and Dimick present at their initial sealing, but that Brigham later resealed them after he returned from a mission to England, meaning that she would have been sealed to Joseph three times in total. However, in signed affidavits collected by the Church, Zina, Dimick, and Dimick’s wife Fanny all verified that Fanny was there at the sealing, too. Etc.
Because of all of this, it’s difficult to know exactly what happened, who was aware of what, and when and how they all became aware of it. However, Zina did say that the Lord had prepared her for the doctrine prior to her hearing it:

I will tell you the facts. I had dreams — I am no dreamer but I had dreams that I could not account for. I know this is the work of the Lord; it was revealed to me, even when young. Things were presented to my mind that I could not account for. When Joseph Smith revealed this order I knew what it meant; the Lord was preparing my mind to receive it.

Additionally, Henry was called on his first mission in May of 1839, before he ever even met Zina. The guy was a prolific missionary who served repeatedly throughout his life. None of those missions overlapped with Joseph’s sealing to Zina.
In fact, according to family tradition, he was present when Joseph told Zina that the reason he hadn’t officiated their wedding is because she was meant to be his plural wife. Henry accepted the news because he was close to Joseph and trusted him. Zina was the one who hadn’t received an answer yet and still had reservations.

After Joseph’s death, Brigham Young also took Zina for his wife while she was still married to Henry Jacobs. Brigham called Henry to serve a mission in England and told him to find another wife. While Henry was in England, Zina began living at the Young house with her children and soon bore a child with Brigham.

Let’s walk through all of this. First, many of Joseph’s sealed wives who were already civilly married to someone else just stayed married to their husbands after his death. They had the choice on whether to re-seal themselves to Joseph or not, and the single wives had the choice of which members of the Twelve they wanted to be sealed to for time. Zina wasn’t forced to leave her marriage to seal herself to Brigham. She chose to do that.
Brigham supposedly told Henry to find another wife, though that can’t be corroborated. He also supposedly had to tell Henry to stop writing love letters to Zina after they were married.
Brigham eventually had several dozen wives and 57 children, in addition to being the leader of the Church and the governor of Utah Territory, owning multiple businesses, and directing the settlement efforts across a very large area. Dude was a busy guy, just saying. Zina did not live with him and did not spent tons of alone time with him. She lived for a time in a separate home with her children, and for a time in a house with several of his other wives. The time she spent alone together with him was sporadic and infrequent.
How would Brigham know that Zina was getting love letters from Henry Jacobs unless she told him? And if she enjoyed receiving those letters, why would she tell him? Why not hide them from him? It would’ve been pretty easy to do so—all she had to do was keep her mouth shut. It’s not like Brigham was snooping through all of his wives’ things in his limited free time. The only reason for her to bring the letters to his attention was if she didn’t like receiving them.
Imagine it from her point of view. You get divorced and move on. You describe that marriage as an unhappy one at several points throughout the rest of your life. You marry someone else and even have a child with them, but your ex keeps contacting you, telling you how much they still love you and still want to be with you. How uncomfortable would that be? It’d be an extremely awkward situation for anyone.
To me, it’s far more likely that Zina went to Brigham and asked him to intervene because it was making her uncomfortable than it is that Brigham found out on his own and flew into a rage and forbade Henry from contacting Zina despite her protestations.
Aside from a very few notable exceptions, most of Brigham’s wives and children spoke of him in glowing terms. Zina herself mentioned his kindness repeatedly.
Henry, meanwhile, was married three more times and all four of his marriages ended in divorce. I don’t know what led to the end of the other three marriages, but I do know that he’s the common denominator in all of those marriages.
It seems clear that Zina left him in what is sometimes called a “folk divorce,” which was a thing in the 19th Century where the man and woman decided to dissolve their marriage and go their separate ways, leaving each of them free to marry again. She chose to marry Brigham for time, and Henry struggled to move on afterward...for a time. Brigham asked him to back off, and he did.

• Vilate Kimball

Shortly after Heber’s return from England, he was introduced to the doctrine of plural marriage directly through a startling test. He had already sacrificed homes, possessions, friends, relatives, all worldly rewards, peace, and tranquility for the Restoration. Nothing was left to place on the altar save his life, his children, and his wife. Then came the Abrahamic test. Joseph demanded for himself what to Heber was the unthinkable, his Vilate. Totally crushed spiritually and emotionally, Heber touched neither food nor water for three days and three nights and continually sought confirmation and comfort from God. On the evening of the third day, some kind of assurance came, and Heber took Vilate to the upper room of Joseph’s store on Water Street. The Prophet wept at this act of faith, devotion, and obedience. Joseph never intended to take Vilate. It was all a test.” (Heber C. Kimball, Mormon Patriarch and Pioneer by Stanley B. Kimball, p.93)

Yep, because blessings come after the trial of our faith. Heber and Vilate were sealed for time and eternity that same night as a reward for their faithfulness. Theirs was one of the very first sealings of this dispensation.

Teenagers: Ten of Joseph’s wives were teenagers.

• Helen Mar Kimball-Smith

Instead of taking Heber C. Kimball’s wife, Vilate, as Joseph had done with others, he married Heber’s 14 year-old daughter, Helen, in May of 1843.

This is presented somewhat disingenuously. Joseph and Helen were sealed two years after Heber and Vilate were sealed. The two incidents are not connected at all. And, as mentioned earlier, Joseph and Helen were sealed at Heber’s urging. He wanted to link his family to Joseph’s in the eternities.

“The youngest was Helen Mar Kimball, daughter of Joseph’s close friends Heber C. and Vilate Murray Kimball, who was sealed to Joseph several months before her 15th birthday.” (Plural Marriage in Kirtland and Nauvoo, LDS.org, Oct. 2014)
In a letter written by Helen Kimball, her father had asked her if she would be willing to be sealed to Joseph Smith, Joseph himself came to her and said,
“If you will take this step, it will ensure your eternal salvation and exaltation & that of your father’s household & all of your kindred.” She talks of her mother’s hidden grief “to see her child, who had scarcely seen her fifteenth summer, following in the same thorny path [of polygamy].” “I would never have been sealed to Joseph had I known it was anything more than ceremony. I was young, and they deceived me, by saying the salvation of our whole family depended on it.” (Helen Mar Kimball, Mormon Polygamy: A History, by LDS Historian Richard S. Van Wagoner, p.53)

Ooh, this is super dishonest framing! The first two lines in quotation marks are indeed taken from an autobiographical letter written by Helen to her children in 1881. The first is from page 482 of a book titled A Woman’s View: Helen Mar Whitney’s Reminiscences of Early Church History, and the second from page 486.
But that third quotation, about how she’d never have been sealed to Joseph if she knew it was anything more than a ceremony? That’s taken from page 19 of an early anti-Mormon pamphlet called Narrative of Some of the Proceedings of the Mormons: Giving an Account of Their Iniquities by Catherine Lewis, published in 1848. She claimed to have Helen say this to her mother at some point, though everything in the book is suspect. It’s all pretty badly distorted from reality, which you can see for yourself just by reading it.
Helen herself certainly never backed up its claim. She did admit to being upset as a 15-year-old at being prevented from going out to dances with her friends because of the sealing, so it’s possible she said something like that at one point in her frustration and disappointment. But the circumstances surrounding it are certainly skewed, since Catherine reports it in the context of Helen refusing, after Joseph’s death, to be sealed for time as her father’s plural wife. That surely never happened. And in fact, after a few more years, Helen became a very vocal defender of plural marriage and of Joseph Smith for the rest of her life.
So, I’d take that statement with a very big grain of salt. That Faulk presents it here as if it was a direct quote from Helen’s own letter to her children is repulsive.

Joseph told a reluctant Helen Mar Kimball that if she married him it would ensure her salvation and the salvation of all her family. Imagine the burden on a 14 year old girl’s emotions of the salvation for her entire family riding on accepting Joseph’s proposal.

Except that Helen herself admitted that she didn’t understand what he was trying to teach her, and neither of her parents, who were there at the time of the proposal, understood it that way at all.

• Nancy Winchester Smith

While records show Nancy was married to Joseph, no dates were written. At the time of Joseph’s death, Nancy was 15 years old. It is possible that, like Helen Mar Kimball, Nancy could have been 14.

It’s not confirmed that Nancy Winchester was a plural wife of Joseph Smith, though evidence leans that way. We also have no idea when that sealing would have taken place, because no records of the sealing exist. We don’t know much about her at all. Her brother Benjamin was a known and rather hostile critic of Joseph’s who never mentioned the fact that they were sealed, so either he didn’t know about it, he didn’t see anything wrong with it (which is highly doubtful), or it never happened and her inclusion on the list was a mistake.
Eliza R. Snow listed her as one of his wives, and so did Orson Whitney, the son of Helen Mar Kimball Whitney. Helen was one of Nancy’s good friends so there’s solid evidence to believe it, but it’s not confirmed.

Unlike what is commonly taught in Sunday school lessons, marriages to young teenagers were not “common in pioneer days.”

Not true, and Faulk’s evidence for this claim doesn’t even say that:

“In 1890, when the U.S. Census Bureau started collecting marriage data, it was recorded that the average age of a first marriage for men was 26 years, and the average age of marriage for women was 22 years.” (http://classroom.synonym.com/agemarriage- us-1800s-23174.html)

Note that this quote says the average age was 22 years old. That means that some women were much older and some were much younger. 1890 is also half a century later than 1840, and society can change a lot in 50 years.
Craig Foster wrote a great article for the Interpreter a few years ago) which demonstrated that in frontier America in the 1800s, females often married quite young, and their husbands were usually older and more settled. It was much less common in the settled cities along the East Coast, but on the frontier (which included Ohio, Missouri, Illinois, and especially Utah), it was relatively common. Men in their 20s-40s marrying teenagers was not unusual.
Even today, it’s legal for teenagers to get married. Let’s not forget that most of Joseph’s teenaged wives were 17-19 years old. Many of us in this church know women who got married at 18 or 19. While they are technically still teenagers, calling them teen brides is implies that they were underage.
The entire concept of “underage” did not exist in the 1800s. In fact, the concept of “teenagers” didn’t even exist back then. You were either a child or an adult, and there was no in-between.
Applying our societal standards to a past society and judging them for their lack of adherence to our norms is a logical fallacy known as “presentism.” I get it—today, it’s unusual and it makes us squirm to hear of girls aged 14-16 getting married. But it was also not out of place in that day and age. And, most importantly, there is no evidence of any sexual activity between Joseph and his youngest wives.

3. Mothers and Daughters: Joseph married a mother and daughter pair.

• Patty Bartlett Sessions (Mother – already married to David Sessions)

She was sealed to Joseph for eternity while her husband was a faithful member of the Church, and though she and her husband both later received their endowment, they weren’t sealed at that time. She also didn’t re-seal herself to Joseph in the temple after his death the way that many of his other plural wives did. The reasons why are unclear. After her husband’s death, she was sealed for time to another man. Around 1867, after submitting an affidavit concerning her plural marriage to Joseph, she was offered the chance to be re-sealed to Joseph again, though I’m not sure if she accepted or not.
We don’t know the reasons for this sealing, just like we don’t know the reasons behind many of Joseph’s sealings to civilly married women.

• Sylvia Sessions Lyon (Daughter – already married to Windsor Lyon).

Windsor Lyon was excommunicated from the Church in November of 1842. Joseph and Windsor remained good friends for the rest of Joseph’s life. There are conflicting dates from two unsigned affidavits saying that Sylvia’s sealing to Joseph either took place in early 1842 or early 1843. Brian Hales favors the later date.
If he’s right, this appears to be one of those sealings where Joseph was sealed to a woman whose husband wasn’t (at the time) a faithful member of the Church so that she could still obtain exaltation.

Sylvia bore children with both husbands; three children with Windsor and one with Joseph. (Josephine - February 8, 1844)

No, no, no. She most certainly did not have a child with Joseph. For a long time, it was considered an unproven possibility, but was never definitive. However, even the possibility was ruled out by DNA testing in 2016, seven years ago.
The fact that this is still in the LFMW after all this time caught me by surprise. We know the LFMW has been updated since its first posting, since the original FAIR rebuttal addresses differently worded accusations. There was plenty of time to correct the inaccuracy. In fact, this particular objection appears to have been added to the original text, rather than removed.

4. Pairs of Sisters: Joseph married 3 pairs of sisters.

• Emily Dow Partridge and Eliza Maria Partridge.
  
• Sara Lawrence and Maria Lawrence.
  
• Zina Huntington Jacobs and Presidia Huntington Buell.
  

Yep, he sure did. Zina and Presendia (her name is not Presidia) were both sealed to Joseph for eternity only, with no marriage in this lifetime. But Emily and Eliza Partridge and Sarah and Maria Lawrence were all sealed to Joseph for time and eternity.
Again, though, I’m not sure why this is supposed to be a point of scandal. None of them were married against their will. They all had the choice, and they all agreed to these arrangements. Is it unusual? Sure. It’s weird, I think we can all agree with that. But is it sinful? Nope. When God commands polygamy, it’s not sinful, and levirate marriages have been around for thousands of years. This is somewhat similar to that practice, particularly in the case of Mary and Mercy Fielding and Hyrum Smith.
Remember, when plural marriage was first introduced, they weren’t really given a rule book. There are some directions and guidelines given in D&C 132, but they only cover certain situations. In the Nauvoo days, they were basically winging it. They had to adjust to the new commandment that completely upended their entire lives and then figure out the best way to live it. There was trial and error, heartache, sacrifice, and suffering involved. It was not easy for any of them, and they did the best they could. If they made mistakes, they need our grace, not our judgment.

So, to start off, I am a new mom. I have a 2 month old son who I am with 24/7. My boyfriend makes enough money so I get to be a SAH mom/girlfriend.
Ever since I became a mom, I decided to leave the partying, clubbing, drinking, hoe life behind so I can be a devoted mother and girlfriend. I have told all my friends this before and they usually take that into consideration when asking me to hang out.
However my best friends birthday is coming up this Saturday and she decided to celebrate by renting a pole dancing class in her city which is an hour away from mine. I will admit, two weeks ago I did tell her I would be there but as long as the class wasn’t more than 2 hours long and not too late so I could come back to my son before bedtime which she agreed to.
Now a week before her birthday she finally tells us the time slot she chose which was 4:45-7 and that she would come to my city after the class to go out to bars. Unfortunately, this did not work for me so I declined to come bcuz I did not want to drive back to my city late and my front bumper on my car is hanging on very loose.
This upset her and she said someone could just give me a ride down there and that if I don’t come the bill would fall on her so I offered to pay my portion of the class and I also told her I would leave early anyways as I didn’t want to be out too late from my son. But she keeps insisting her sister or our other best friend could drive me down there and back.
AITAH for cancelling on my best friends birthday plans to be with my son and avoid car problems?

So, I know it's a bad idea to date your ex but that's not why I'm making this post. Me and my ex broke up 1.5 years ago after being together for 2 years. I was a horrible girlfriend due to very severe untreated mental health issues. I couldn't have asked for a better boyfriend; honest, loving and incredibly patient. He was my rock and got me through very dark times. I broke up with him 4 or 5 times, took his love and support for granted, blamed my problems on him. The last breakup really messed him up and he became colder, bitter and jaded. We continued to talk, however, and he's spent the past two years trying to get back together. The intense connection we have has stopped us letting go.
During this time, there was an incident where I had a gut feeling that he had slept with someone at a party. When I asked him, he lied to my face and gaslighted me despite me saying that I wasn't mad, I just wanted to know. 3 days later he fessed up out of guilt. I know that the way I treated him is what led to him losing some of his best traits and becoming a liar. Because I knew that it was partly my own fault and I felt guilty for what I had done to him, we stayed in contact. We started dating again at the end of May last month as I decided I finally wanted to give our relationship another go, now that I'm getting treatment for my mental health issues and no longer lashing out at him instead. I feel a lot of guilt for what I did and we have discussed everything and decided that we'd go into this with a clean slate.
My trust in his 'honesty' has been destroyed by the previous lies. I had a gut feeling that he wasn't telling me everything and I decided to trust my gut this time instead of his word. So I did a bad thing, and when he was asleep I looked though his phone. Well, my intuition was right. He likes to write messages in his notes app before copying them to send, and he also uses it as a journal it seems. I found these things in his notes, and no evidence of them actually being sent to anyone:

1. A few, since September: Draft messages to me in his notes app calling me a s***, disgusting and easy. He always denied this when I asked him if he thought badly of me for sleeping with other people while we'd been broken up. We both have slept with 3 other people (as far as he's told me) since being broken up. He has never ever sent me anything like I found in his notes. These looked like alternative answers in response to messages I had sent during an actual conversation we had, to which he had said that he's never think that of me. He has never spoken to me or used insults like those against me to my face so I was really shocked to see this vitriol directed at me. I feel like I don't even know who this person is.
2. A few different ones, ranging from January: What looks like draft messages/copies of a message to Izzy, who I'd suspected he has been interested in (he denied it vehemently). These messages were clearly flirtatious but didn't seem to indicated that he had slept with her, more like he was trying to. Almost like he was coming up with ideas about messages he could send her? But weirdly, I combed through his phone and there hasn't been a single message sent between them. He only has her on Snapchat, and I would've been able to tell if any messages were ever sent.
3. End of last month: A draft message to me, saying that he no longer wanted to see me or speak to me because he had been seeing Izzy and that it had gotten serious enough that he didn't want to mess things up with her by having me in his life. Another draft to me, seemingly in response to an imagined conversation, said " because Izzy doesn't sleep with other people while I'm seeing her". Again, never sent to me.
4. December time: A draft message to me saying that he sleeps with people behind my back and doesn't tell me about it because it makes him feel better about the fact that I don't want him the way he wants me. Never sent to me - in fact, he's spent this entire time giving me shit about not being focused enough on him. He has also vehemently insisted that he hasn't slept with anyone I don't know about, and that I know everything.
5. A draft message to some friend I guess saying that it's been 6 months and he hasn't slept with anyone except me. (don't remember when but I think December-ish?).
6. Maybe 3-4 months ago: a note saying that the only way to get with Izzy is to stop watching porn and masturbating (weird and gross - I guess he means because she's very pretty and has an amazing body)
7. Mid last month: a copy of a message in his notes, seemingly to one of him and Izzy's mutual friends, saying "is it true that Izzy snores haha" (cringey as hell)
8. A few months ago (I think?): in his notes, copied text/or drafts of messages seemingly from him to a male friend (with the friend's responses) saying "don't tell anyone, but I slept with Izzy", and the responses "I don't understand it bro but well done haha", praising him for apparently sleeping with her

Since seeing this, I've tried to ask him questions about these things to see if he'd lie or admit it. He has denied everything over and over e.g. have you never been interested in/dated anyone else, like Izzy? "No, I've been 100% focused on you". When I pressed him he insisted that while he found her attractive he never wanted anything more than friendship. I think he was planning to hook up with Izzy behind my back but hasn't gone through with it (yet) and was preparing the messages to me ahead of that. I believe he still loves me but resents me for the way I treated him and hurting his ego. He's embarrassed about being dumped many times and coming back every time. I think he is addicted to me; that as much as he wants to walk away he can't bring himself to, so he's getting revenge instead by hurting me and sneaking around behind my back.
I don't even care if anything happened with Izzy. What's upsetting me is that he lied again with such conviction despite me telling him so, so many times that honesty and getting all the skeletons out of the closet is the only way to leave the past behind us. I assured him I wouldn't be mad and I'd let it go if he had anything to tell me but he still chose to lie after promising me he wouldn't ever lie again after the other time. The relationship is dead to me, I am leaving without a doubt just as soon as I confront him with his lies. I know that the whole situation is incredibly toxic from both our sides, and that I shouldn't have snooped - please don't comment just to tell me that, I already know. I just want to know how to handle this and find out what actually happened with him and Izzy and what else he's lied about. I can't walk away without telling him I know he's a liar and trying to get the truth or it will eat me up. How can I approach this with him, without giving him a chance to think of excuses or delete evidence? I am worried he'll flip it back onto my snooping and gaslight me about what I found. What do you all think - did anything actually happened with him and Izzy? Is it just his fantasy?
TL;DR: dating my ex again and while snooping I've found out that he is lying about seeing someone, but I don't know what's the lie and what's the truth. How can I find out what really happened without giving him a chance to cover his tracks?
