2023.06.07 07:55 Icy_Effort7326 IUI vs IVF advice

We 35F and 40M have been trying unsuccessfully for a year with the last month using Letrozole + Ovidrel. This month we are using Gonal-F (37.5 IUI daily) and Letrozole (7.5 mg daily) + Ovidrel trigger and our doc is recommending doing an IUI. My AMH is 1.34 and I am ovulating late. My husbands SA came out normal. Where we live, the cost for an IUI is $400 per cycle and $1500 for a IVF cycle not counting the cost of meds and doctors visits.
I have read a lot of negative reviews about IUI's so was wondering if it would be better if we try for a few months with Gonal-F and Letrozole + Ovidrel without the IUI and then move to IVF. We are paying for the costs out of pocket as it is not covered by insurance. Thank you.

2023.06.07 07:43 Money_Ad_588 My Rhabdo Story

I’m a 31 year old male, after my episode and doing a lot of research it all makes sense. A few months back, my wife and I tried out a cross-fit style gym, she ended up joining and getting a membership. I paid for a few single classes for me to see what it was all about. Long story short I am familiar with crossfit workouts but was not as normalized to them as my wife is. On Memorial Day I did the Murph workout, which now I know I did not train for or prepare for at all. I was not even going to do it at first, was just there to show support for my wife but I got talked into doing it and that was my mistake! Lol. My body was simply NOT ready for 100 pull ups, 200 push ups and 300 squats. With 1 mile runs before and after. I was not properly hydrated either. The worst part is that not only did I finish the workout, but I obviously did everything to failure and for some reason was focusing on the eccentric, which now I know are the very recipe of Rhabdo.
When I finished the workout, I immediately threw up. Went home and for the rest of the day felt normal for the most part, with only “normal soreness” which I credited to the unusually intense workout. Day 2 my arms and chest started swelling, Day 3 my arms were so swollen that my range of motion was about 2/3 normal, I had aches and pretty bad pain when trying to stretch any of the affected muscles. Day 4 I noticed dark pee for the first time, a quick google search and I was off to the emergency room. After four days hospitalized and about 10 bags of IV liquids, they released me on Day 7. Today is Day 9. My urine has been clear for days and muscle symptoms have decreased by about 90%, my range of motion is almost back to normal, no pain other than soreness when trying to fully stretch affected muscles and swelling is gone.
I feel good and have been more purposeful about drinking water, and eating salty foods. I also have learned to respect my body more as well as take exercise and intense activities more seriously. I do understand that this is not over though and that I now need to be extra careful with any physical activity involving those muscle groups. I will try keep the thread posted (no pun intended)

2023.06.07 07:42 claum0y A few thoughts and issues with WLKRRR hope they can be fixed

First of all this is my first time playing WLK, I've only played the og KD but I enjoyed the game so much I'm here now.
None of these ruined the experience for me (except maybe audio a little since it was so nice in KD to just catch things)
I highly recommend supporting the franchise because it's awesome and I hope all these issues can get patched in the future. I didn't make this post for hate just to inform and discuss, give me thoughts from your experience!
Gameplay recommendation: I didn't know the king levels were new so I played them as they were unlocked at first, this led me to this: One of the first levels I played in the game ended up being the ghost school at night, this I believe, is the HARDEST level in the game. (not counting 1M roses). I was stubborn to get all 5 instruments so I died like 30 times in this level. This made me ragequit the game for a few hours, I recommend skipping this level until later.
Most of the issues I've seen are visual and audio.
First, the visuals and arstyle for this game are amazing, it looks so good to have details on a pretty arstyle, but still there are issues:
Issue 1#: The pop-in is noticeable, it can be a little worse than the original game. This isn’t too bad and doesn’t impact that much but it can lead to, for example: not seeing the present on top of the duck in the water level. Hope this gets patched.
Issue 2#: This isn't present at all or noticeable in most levels but I will still mention it, shadows can be buggy. I noticed this also in the water level, if you're standing on top of the Island and look around you will see a weird large shadow on top of the water. And the water itself gets pretty buggy and messed up in small chunks and looks weird sometimes. This isn’t noticeable or present everywhere and is not that bad but still hope it gets patched.
Issue 3#: Cousin models twitch around too much when moving. This can be distracting if you pay attention, if you make quick movements you will see your character twitching uncontrollably. This isn’t noticeable until you pay attention to it and can no longer it ignore it when it happens, hope this gets patched too.
As for audio I believe there's somewhat bad mixing, in the og KD you could hear clearly when you caught a person and felt bad because they screamed, here the vocals can sound a little foggy, I say this by ear but it could be my pc being better than my tv tho I'm playing on a ps5. Even if they sound good to you the problem is the mixing, the sounds people/objects/cousins make are too low. This isn’t fixed by upping the sfx volume because of mixing. When you max sfx volume the picking things with your katamari sound becomes too loud and a little overwhelming, it could be because it feels wrongly pitched or it's too loud compared to other sfxs.
Also was it just me but I think this game is shorter and easier than the first one. It's more varied with every objective and levels are more varied and feel distinctive. I'm a fan of the first game's progression but I enjoyed this sequel a lot too, but maybe it passed to quickly for me, since I had to finish the first game throughout a month of different 1-2 level sittings.
This one was short so I passed the levels quickly, but here I actually want to collect everything eventually unlike the first, maybe because it seemed too difficult then or because I thought the main game was just about enough at the moment. The cousins are awesome to be playable and I want to keep playing of course.
Any recommendations for other stuff? And thoughts, I ended up in this sub out of curiosity and I end up seeing posts a lot these days.

2023.06.07 07:42 Kindly_Ad9867 Tips Before Watching

Just watched this show and I actually really enjoyed it! My big tips before you start watching would be:
  1. Pay attention to all of the FACES that you see in the first few episodes. Since there are some actors who play more than one character, it is hard to pay attention and follow what is going on if you don't realise that you are seeing the same faces.
  2. Watch Epitaph 1 and Epitaph 2 TOGETHER at the end of the series as if they were a total series finale,

Even though it got cancelled, I think it ended really well. Eliza Dushku is also a phenomenal actress.

2023.06.07 07:39 CocaPepsiPepper Long Theory: Shanks Greenbull'd Kaido Before Marineford

Long Theory: Shanks Greenbull'd Kaido Before Marineford
The title is only slightly clickbait-y but let me cook.
To start, we know for a fact that Shanks and Kaido met prior to Marineford in the New World.
The Main Evidence
According to King's vivre card, King came with Kaido but was stopped by the Red Haired Pirates. This confirms that Shanks was with his crew, and that King was with Kaido, but nothing is mentioned of Queen or anyone else so it can be reasonably assumed that Kaido and King alone were up against the Red Hair Pirates in this scuffle. The anime supplements this saying there was indeed a conflict that happened, even if it was a small one. The result of this scuffle was that Kaido was stopped.
2 years later:
Roof Piece
Kaido thinks of 5 strong pirates capable of fighting him. Shanks is counted among these five. Now who are the other four, and what have they done to get Kaido's respect, which is obviously based around strength?
Well, to start, we have the three strongest pirates in history: Rocks D. Xebec, the Pirate King Gol D. Roger and Edward Newgate.
The Kings of Eras
Kaido was a freak even as a teen, but Rocks brought him under his wing, just another strong member of Captain Rocks' great Pirate Crew. Rocks is an absolute menace who only lost when he fought Roger and Garp at God Valley, presumably with the Roger Pirates in tow. Up to that point, Rocks was the name of the era, and implications to date imply that he was every bit as strong as Roger was, and undoubtedly stronger than Kaido at that time.
After the Rocks Pirates disbanded, Roger just kept rising and rising until he eventually became the Pirate King. The very first panel of the series speaks of Roger's power, and every old legend is held to his standard, so it is abundantly clear that Roger was at the peak of power among pirates. During Roger's era, Kaido had started to take over Wano, and other than that, his exploits with big name pirates between God Valley and Roger's death aren't that well known. We can reasonably assume that Kaido was never at his peak when Roger was around and that he at least saw Roger's power first hand on God Valley.
With the end of Roger came the Golden Age of Pirates, where people wanted the One Piece but ultimately didn't stand a chance because Whitebeard was still around, sitting in front of the throne, the de facto Pirate King who didn't care for the title. Renowned as the World's Strongest, the aging and sick Whitebeard was the king of the seas until he came to Marineford and died at the hands of the Marines and Blackbeard Pirates, bringing in the New Age with his final words. Kaido was in Wano this entire age except for some expeditions, but it's unlikely that he ever fought Whitebeard after Roger's death since Whitebeard was known to have been quiet before Marineford. Only after Whitebeard's death was the throne truly open for the taking.
Whitebeard's legend
Because of this, I call Rocks, Roger and Whitebeard the Kings of Eras. From Rocks' reign to Whitebeard's death, there was a clear top dog, and only after they all died was a true free for all able to take place in the world. It's abundantly clear that their raw strength, regardless of their crews, is on a completely separate level from any other pirate, including Kaido. All three of these Kings are above Kaido and enjoy a comfortable spot in Kaido's "top 5," likely due not only to their legendary reputations but the strength that Kaido knew they had, as he was personally familiar with them all up to at least God Valley.
The fourth pirate Kaido thinks of is the samurai, Oden. As far as we know, Kaido only ever had one single fight with Oden, which resulted in Kaido gaining his first ever scar, and then the fight was interrupted. Even if it's clear that Oden is not on the same level as the aforementioned pirates, he still managed to leave this much of an impression on Kaido through the damage he was able to inflict in their one fight. Even in his prime, Kaido held as much respect for Oden's strength as he did back when they fought, and we know Kaido doesn't respect Oden as a person.
Oden's final stand
Now just to recap, we know, or can reasonably assume, that some of the things influencing Kaido's respect of these people are
  • Reputation: Roger, Whitebeard and Rocks all had insane reputations that surpass Kaido's own
  • Fights: Kaido has an on screen fight with Oden where he was scarred and likely fought the other three pirates (at least Roger and Whitebeard) at some point in his life
  • Strength: Other than direct fights, we know that Kaido laid witness to all four of these people's strengths personally
And these factors have resulted in Kaido's "top 5" so far consisting of the three strongest pirates to ever do it, and the first man to scar Kaido.
Now we come to the fifth pirate: Shanks. And how is Kaido's relationship with Shanks? We know that Shanks had a billion-berry bounty when he met Luffy and that he became an Emperor 6 years prior to the events of Wano. Shanks was only a kid when Roger died, and during his rise, Kaido had already killed Oden and established his full control of Wano. Kaido left Wano periodically but not for long at a time. The only confirmed meeting that Shanks and Kaido ever had was the one prior to Marineford, which is consistent with the fragile power balance. We are not made aware of any prior or later meetings besides the one in the Marineford arc. Despite this, Kaido still has Shanks in his "top 5."
Is this because of reputation? Unlikely, because, as many are quick to point out, Shanks is not one of the "World's Strongest" title holders. So, unless Shanks is in the list for a separate reason entirely, his placing in that list is almost definitely due to that meeting where Shanks stopped him. But it's also important to note that, by Wano, Kaido was saying he was having the first serious fight of his life in a long time, implying that whatever happened with Shanks that impressed Kaido so much still didn't require Kaido to exert himself, at least not in a one-on-one battle.
This is TCB's translation; I don't have the official on me
This fight was against Luffy. Specifically, a non-Gear 4th, pre-Gear 5th Luffy, who is obviously weaker than Shanks. So it seems that Shanks impressed Kaido without actually fighting him 1 on 1, but it's also clear that Kaido wouldn't respect Shanks if the majority of his strength came from his crew, especially when the lowest standard of comparison here is Oden, who scarred Kaido.
That's actually an important note. Oden scarred Kaido, Shanks didn't. And just giving Kaido a scar on its own isn't enough to be in that list, unless we want to put Zoro up there with Whitebeard. Oden showed parity with Kaido in combat and gave him a relatively massive scar. Yet Shanks, the rival of the World's Strongest Swordsman, gave Kaido no known scar and still got in that elite class of respect.
If Shanks wanted to scar Kaido, he DEFINITELY could have
Everything so far has established the following timeline:
  1. The Red Haired Pirates engage Kaido and King in a small-scale battle
  2. Kaido is driven away without a scar and without having fought a serious one-on-one duel
  3. Two years later, Shanks is put alongside Oden and the Kings
What exactly did Shanks do?
I believe that Shanks did pretty much exactly what he did against Greenbull.
The Haki of Red Haired Shanks
First off, compare the situations. Greenbull was a third party coming into Wano to take on Luffy, and Kaido was a third party going to Marineford to take on Whitebeard. They're definitely similar enough to believe that Shanks reacted the same way.
Second, look at what the technique actually does in Wano. Shanks releases his Haki toward Greenbull, stopping him mid attack and making him exclaim in shock or pain. We then see a sound effect before Greenbull recognizes it as the Red Haired Pirates and Shanks communicates directly with Greenbull from outside of Wano, holding him still the hold time; the Admiral was actually sweating, and eventually he ran away despite having a clear objective.
Now, let's paint a picture of the scene happening before Marineford. Kaido and King are sailing to Marineford when Shanks unleashes his Haki; from what distance, we do not know. Kaido is hit with the Haki and he starts seizing up a bit, stumbling back in his ship, concerned and surprised more than hurt while King starts sweating and shaking. Kaido wonders where the Haki is coming from when Shanks starts communicating with him, telling him something. Perhaps it's a threat, perhaps it's a negotiation around Joy Boy, who knows. The ultimate, relevant point here is that Kaido is getting a first hand taste of the Haki that Shanks possesses, a level of it that surpasses even his own in both raw power and versatility. By the end, Kaido decides to turn back.
This would explain EVERYTHING. Kaido didn't have an actual fight, but there was a conflict that happened where Kaido got to witness Shanks' capability, specifically in the most important of all factors in a fight: Conqueror's Haki. The technique inflicts no injury, so it didn't damage Kaido at all. Depending on the distance that Shanks used it at, it could even explain why he was able to get to Marineford so fast: he was closer to Marineford than he was to Kaido.
I want to be clear that this does not necessarily mean that Kaido was as embarrassed as Greenbull was. Greenbull is a powerhouse as is; if Kaido felt that much Haki coming straight at him, even if it wasn't overwhelming, he'd still be able to easily acknowledge the threat Shanks poses.
But overall, I believe this is the closest explanation for how Shanks dealt with Kaido. If they had a traditional fight, then Shanks would somehow have to impress Kaido without pressuring or scarring him, which could really only mean that he completely dominated Kaido, and I don't think that's consistent. If they had a meeting prior to that where Shanks proved himself, then that only means that a younger version of Shanks than the current one impressed Kaido. And if it's actually based only on reputation, then Shanks must have some insane reputation we are unaware of, which would be consistent with his mysterious Gorosei visits and the respect Sengoku has for him, but even then those aren't necessarily strength related; there's 0 reason for Shanks to be there, but not Mihawk or even Big Mom, based solely on reputation unless there's something we just do not know.

TLDR

Shanks stopped Kaido through Wi-Fi Haki. I believe this because they're only known meeting was prior to Marineford; Kaido was uninjured and didn't have a serious fight, but he still had Shanks in his "top 5." The logical explanation is that Shanks showed off his strength without fighting Kaido, just like he did against Greenbull.
Thanks for reading!

2023.06.07 07:36 Remorse_Official_ How do you rank the timeskip episodes?

IMO (best to worst)
  1. the wizard
This is one of my favorite episodes of Barry, seeing Fuches new look had me dying and the Sally car scene is also one of my favorite scenes of the entire show. Everything truly felt new and refreshing for the series.
  1. wow
A great, depressing finale. I still don't know how to feel about the biopic at the end though tbh. I know the Gene villain plot was in the show since season two but it still feels forced to me for some reason.
  1. tricky legacies
A very good exposition episode and the timeskip wouldn't have worked without it, having to wait two weeks to see the other characters sucked though.
  1. a nice meal
For me at least, I was extremely disappointed with the Jim Moss and Barry interrogation in 4x07 being short and the Jim Moss interrogation being played off as comedic especially after waiting a week for it. Also just wasn't as funny as other episodes and felt like a setup for the finale rather than it's own thing.

If you had to imagine GND with 1 girl replaced, who do you think was the most replaceable?
Of course we all know that none of them were truly replaceable and that they all added something valuable to the group, but that word gets brought up so much- replaceable!
I started thinking about it after the discussion on the latest podcast episode about what it meant to be an individual.

2023.06.07 07:32 autotldr Florida man (not that one) sold $100M-plus in counterfeit network gear / Military, schools, and hospitals burned by off-brand Cisco inferno

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 51%. (I'm a bot)
A 39-year-old Florida man pleaded guilty Tuesday to selling hundreds of millions of dollars of counterfeit Cisco gear to unsuspecting schools, hospitals, government agencies, and the military.
According to the US Justice Department, between 2013 and 2022 Onur Aksoy, based in Miami, founded at least 19 companies in New Jersey and Florida and launched 15 Amazon and 10 eBay storefronts from which he peddled "Tens of thousands" of low-quality or faulty networking devices gussied up to look like new or official Cisco equipment.
The goods, imported from sellers in China and Hong Kong, were often loaded with pirated Cisco software and packaged within Cisco boxes bearing Cisco labels and stickers.
Aksoy's activities drew the attention of the Customs and Border Protection agency, which reportedly seized 180 shipments of counterfeit goods shipped to companies owned by Aksoy between 2014 and 2022.
Despite pressure from CBP and Cisco's lawyers, the Justice Department claims Aksoy did little to hide his activities and continued to import and then fraudulently sell counterfeit network equipment sourced from the same suppliers.
It wasn't until last June that Aksoy was arrested and charged - on one count of conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit goods and to commit mail and wire fraud, three counts of mail fraud, four counts of wire fraud, and three counts of trafficking in counterfeit goods.

2023.06.07 07:29 Intelligent_Dig_7863 What to do when you have to work shifts with a coworker who you found out stole from you.

Context I have worked in this restaurant for a little longer than a year while my coworker let's call them Sasha about two or three months we both work in to-go with other people who also have been here for more than a year and nothing has happened with things missing until now.
It all went like this last week on Sunday night on my last ordered I received an XX dollar tip and I put it in my wallet, so I could put it in my bank account on Wednesday. Wednesday comes and upon looking in my wallet, the X bill is gone BUT all the other smaller bills are still there, which I found odd. But I just thought I went crazy and probably drop it or misplaced it somehow. But when I kept thinking about it. I had not opened my wallet for all those three days. So it got me thinking what if? On Monday I worked by myself in the front. On Tuesday I worked with Sasha and I left my bag in the to go stand like always, while I worked in the back packing food, and her in the to go stand on the phone.
Today I decided to put X amount of money in my wallet with a bunch one dollar bills. I went to work. left my bag in the to go stand like usual and went to work in the back, and Sasha in the front, just like last week. From 11 to 1 I was in the back doing my job, then at 1PM it was my break, so I opened my bag to take my airpods out and something just told me to check my wallet and I counted my money and I was X dollars short. I am trying to count it again and Sasha notices and tries to talk to me about God knows what but I keep counting and not listening, money is in fact short and my suspect seems to be right. I took my bag and went to ask manager A to check the cameras. I explain that last week I was also missing money, manager A was trying to login into the system to check the cameras and then Sasha walks in, again trying to talk about idk what, and asks what the manager was A doing on the phone, A just looks at Sasha and tells Sasha that I was helping the manager taking a sticker off the phone, lol. Sasha is being all talkative for no reason. Sasha leaves to talk to a costumer. Manager A asks me if I have told anyone about it and I say no. She calls another manager B and tells Manager B I am missing money and then they both try to login to check the cameras.
Sasha comes in somewhere between when they are discussing all of that and then walks away for a minute and then walks back in and tells me that she overheard them talking about me missing money and tells me she found money. I walk with her to the togo stand and there is a stack of money on the corner of the to go stand, then she tells me that she didn't know who it belong to so she just kept it under the to go stand. I take the money and count it and is exactly the cash I was missing!! I go to the back and tell manager A that Sasha found the money. The manager A just asks Sasha where the money was and sasha tells her the same thing and then she walks away and me and manager A just look at each other. Manager A then tells me that there is no camera showing the to-go stand directly so we don't have no video proof, but she still believes it was Sasha, Manager B walks in and ask if we were able to check the cameras or found the culprit and we just look at each other and I tell B that A knows the whole story, so they walk off and talk about it. Then Manager B comes to me and tells me that Sasha will receive an email from HR and walks away. I didn't see him again so I couldn't ask him what will happen to Sasha
Now since me and Sasha work in the to-gos, I don't know how to go about our interactions, I feel like it will be awkward? Even though when she clocked out she tried to be nice/ friendly? I just kept talking to her with a straight face or a fake smile, so now work seems to be awkward from now on. I can't seem to act normal around her no more. I don't want drama at work with this incident since Sasha is friends with lots of people at the restaurant and I don't think that she will tell them that she in fact stole money from me, she will probably talk shit about me, since she talks shit about other people she don't like. What should I do?

2023.06.07 07:29 IAmKindOfCreative Should r/Python participate in the June 12th Blackout protesting the API changes

"I didn't have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead."
This is a long one, so I'm putting the TLDR up top:

TLDR

A blackout has been proposed for June 12-14 to protest the API changes and extreme cost.
The Python community seems very vocal about joining the blackout and I would like the Python community's input on this. Would you like to participate? How would you like to participate?
If we do join the blackout, there are two different ways to participate which we need: - Setting the subreddit to private (no engagement at all--including no ability to explain why our sub is private) - Turning off submissions (the community and posts are still viewable, but no new comments or posts)
Please offer your feedback here, this isn't my decision alone to make.

Background to the issue:

Reddit has been making changes.
Ahead of their IPO, they're trying to get their ducks in a row, but in trying to maximize their value to potential shareholders, they're cutting off massive avenues of value to moderators and users. * Reddit, without warning, cut off Pushshift's API access (The stated reason is no response--but given their pricing structure for 3rd party mobile apps, and the time frame Reddit gave third party apps, any response by pushshift would have almost certainly resulted in this same action) * Reddit is making a move to remove API access to third party apps and developers. It's no stretch that this move is motivated because after a number of years they're unable to compete in the mobile app space. So instead of 'git-ing gud' they're just shutting down competition. Apollo App Response, Rif Response * They said RES will experience 'minimal' impact and old Reddit will be preserved. In the words of the Toolbox devs, "[they are not impacted.] Yet (Toolbox is a great tool for moderation because moderating with Reddit's site tools alone is a pain), and similarly RES developers are not overly trusting. Similarly, the API once was safe * Reddit has laid off 5% of their staff
The above actions are presented with bias--because frankly I am biased and Reddit is presenting their reasoning with bias so please take both sides' explanations with a grain of salt. Or Crait's worth of salt. But I feel they are presented accurately enough for this post's purpose.

Why we care about these changes:

As a Moderator

There are a number of issues that a moderator has to deal with.
First and foremost, I volunteer to do this. Moderation can be a drain on my energy, and is a time sink. Losing efficiencies reduce my ability to moderate, and Reddit Inc is laughably behind.
So these changes impact my workflow, and avenues to review and moderate content. And these are issues impacting our community. /Python is a great sub and great community. Compared to a lot of other subreddit we have relatively few issues.
Communities which are identity, political, or news in nature have to deal with so much more. There's a ton to manage, there's a ton of filtering for mental health and safety that is needed too. Reddit is getting there when it comes to a lot of features, but their implementation is slow. It's getting measurably faster as they restructure, but they're still catching up to third party apps.

As a reddit usePython developer

APIs are important. They're a wonderful gateway to programming, they help webpages serve information in a more lightweight fashion when webscraping would be costly (if you just need an upvote count, it's smarter to just make a call for than, then making a call for every asset a webpage renders. This gets a user what they need and isn't a burden on the site they're engaging with). APIs as a result both act as a great learning mechanism and as a way to keep from burdening the site as a whole.
No third party apps as alternatives makes it easier for Reddit to harvest data without pushback. And it makes it harder for users to customize their experience. This can be exceptionally important when it comes to communities which cater to important segments of the population, but segments which are so small that a profit focused organization would otherwise ignore.
One of the more notable communities that these changes strongly impact is /blind, and there's an explanation of these changes and their impact here. It's very probable that these issues will be quickly addressed now that they're in the public eye. But the underlying reality is that third party apps had been able to cater to users and communities and the Reddit app, with Reddit's stewardship, has failed to address accessibility at this level.

The Blackout

On June 12th a blackout has been purposed.
Many communities are praticipating, and as this post points out we're curious if we should join. The blackout is either to cover a two day span, or last until demands are appropriately addressed. (this distinction is on a community basis, and will probably depend on how reddit responds)
There are different ways to perform it, either set the sub to private or lock the sub so no submissions can go through. Setting the sub to private prevents all engagement in the sub, but also means that presenting a message to users about what is going on isn't possible.
I think it makes sense to keep the sub up and visible but to freeze it so no new posts or comments go through, but I'd like to hear your thoughts.

The Admins Response to the blackout

Here is their reply
A rough TLDR (I'm omitting the NSFW changes because... They're not clear to me. Maybe that's my shortfall but I think they're very vague about those) 1) Reddit isn't changing their position at all. They're digging in their heels and 'clarifying' what they're doing. No decision is reversed. 2) bots using api for mod tools will be safe--if they break "[Reddit] will work with you to fix them. " 3) launching at future dates: mod features
On 2)--they basically told Apollo app to, "Figure it out themselves" https://www.reddit.com/redditdev/comments/13wsiks/api_update_enterprise_level_tier_for_large_scale/jmolrhn/?context=3 so forgive me if I don't find goodwill in that message.
On 3) So many of those updates exist already in third party apps. So many of them are only getting attention this long into the Reddit app's lifespan because mods are making a stink about not moderating through the Reddit app. So especially for the rollout date of Sept. portions--I don't really believe it'll be executed well. And I don't want the mobile app on my phone. It's big, slow, and harvests a lot of data.
And when that post went live Reddit was breaking again.
https://www.redditstatus.com/
Not really something that exudes confidence in their ability to make good product decisions.
Now being fair here, there absolutely has been a focus on improving modtools over this past year, but they're still wildly behind. It's.. uncomfortable to trust a site when they cut off the alternatives for profit. Once there's no competition there's no longer a reason to loose revenue on further developing these resources.
We were a part of the Reddit Talk platform development, and the admins we got to work with were lovely, and worked hard to greenlight the features moderators requested. A lot of those features were fleshing out the API so we could handle a Reddit Talk session in our workflows.
But after a while they shutdown Reddit Talk and that makes it difficult to trust long term product commitments from Reddit. Even if we get great admins who listen to feedback rolling out a product--they're not ultimately the ones who make the calls for the future.
The admin response to the threat of a blackout reaffirms their changes and makes a lot of future promises for moderation tools. They sound good but at best those features should have been here ages ago, and their presentation betrays a lack of focus or care for moderation tools until recently. That recent change is affirming to see, but looking at Reddit's track record it might just be a passing phase until the public eye is off of the company.

What does this mean to /Python

That is mostly my question to you.
There are some defined things:
  • If we blackout, the sub turns off. No one can post or comment for a while, and we hope our added voice helps encourage Reddit to continue to allow third party apps.
  • If we don't join the blackout, we can still hope but there's less weight behind it.
We don't normally join in on Reddit's protests. So this would be a new thing for our community--is this cause worth the loss in a few days of posts?
There is a post by another user asking this question and at present it is the second most upvoted submission in the past year. So there has been a lot of great talk already, but I need to ask this question here as well to be sure I'm listening to the community as a whole.
Should /Python join the June 12th Blackout?
If we do, should we completely go private, or should we prevent the commenting or posting in our community during that period so an explanation of what is going on is viewable?
Please give your feedback, I'm reading through both this and the original submission to keep an eye on things. Remember though, be respectful. We're a Python focused community, so in addition to the rules here in the sub, I hope you'll adhere to the PSF Code of Conduct. Be respectful to one another. Disagree with opinions, but be respectful of people.
And now for something completely different

2023.06.07 07:26 Samsung1324 Two Handed Sword, Plus Heavy Armor. Vampire or Werewolf?

I don't care about the transformations I just want to know what people think is better for Human form. I know werewolves have extra health and stamina regen plus movement speed, but vampires also have a lot of attack damage buffs as well as bonuses to attacking targets with blood seed (which I would use with the perk that casts spells on power attack) but nothing stamina or health based unless you count the +1 to every stat on drain.

2023.06.07 07:16 xOrangeManBad Project Sellyme

From Sellyme regarding shinies
Unfortunately TSR is in bed with Niantic and blocks any solid proof from being posted here, which is users of this sub rely on inaccurate surveys with user-submitted data rather than reliable data from bot farms checking hundreds of millions of encounters a day. See also: TSR's own shiny rates page knowingly reporting the base shiny rate incorrectly for its entire existence (first as 1/450, then as 1/500).
Unfortunately the usefulness of bot-collected data is obviously significantly limited for raid-exclusives, so cases like this one are a bit more difficult to spot.
You’re either believing misinformation or alarmism from different events
I assume by this you're referring to the annual freakout from casual players catching 200 Pokemon during a Go Fest without using an incense (and thus not getting any of the boosted spawns!). I can assure you that I'm not counting any of those, and detest the "I didn't get a shiny, it's rigged!" posts that don't actually include a sample size or methodology just as much as anyone else.
I just increment the number every single time any of the following things happen:
Because of the nature of how I've been counting this, I don't have a complete list of every single instance. However I did in the past, so here's a quick list of all the old ones going up to late 2020 + the newer ones I can remember off hand or have been recorded on the NZ bugs page:
I could add even more if I wanted to be particularly mean and include things like the Charmander, Roselia, Electabuzz, and Chespin Community Days not having boosted catch rates (making it significantly more likely for shinies to flee), but that's another issue entirely.
There's plenty more I'm forgetting, this list is only 50-odd. I think the majority of the missing cases are shiny rate nerfs, due to those being necessary to confirm with bot data and thus getting censored from this subreddit and much harder to find retrospectively. But hopefully that's a good starting point for anyone who wants to investigate further.

Gap Chart, Tour: 2012 Early Summer Tour
Set 1 : Buried Alive > Runaway Jim > Torn and Frayed , Funky Bitch , The Moma Dance > Rift , Nothing , Ocelot , Beauty of a Broken Heart , Possum , Rocky Top
Set 2 : Carini -> Taste > Ghost > Boogie On Reggae Woman > If I Could , Quinn the Eskimo (The Mighty Quinn) > Harry Hood > Cavern > Buried Alive Reprise
Encore : Loving Cup
Jamchart Notes:
Possum - Unusual jam which breaks into very un-"Possum"-like sections at 6:00 and again at 7:00. Not typical at all, but very exploratory for "Possum."
Carini - Deploying an array of instruments and effects, including the theremin and bass effects, the band uses these tools to create a lush, densely textured and largely upbeat jam which -> to "Taste."
Taste - -> in from a excellent "Carini." Page is great in this version, which is also features Trey playing both a "Norwegian Wood" tease early in his solo, as well as the "NICU" riff signaling the concluding section. > to a strong "Ghost."
Boogie On Reggae Woman - Segues out of "Ghost" and includes some serious hose from Trey and reaches several satisfying peaks. Drops back into a funk groove for the last minute and the jam fades away into "If I Could".
If I Could - > in from a powerful "Boogie On." Heartfelt and thoughtfully executed version adds a graceful ending to an impressive string of improvisational music.
Show Notes:
Runaway Jim included a Buried Alive tease, Possum included a Beauty of a Broken Heart tease and Taste included a Norwegian Wood tease (all from Trey). If I Could was last played on November 21, 2009 (102 shows).

Gap Chart, Tour: 2011 Early Summer Tour
Set 1 : Llama , The Moma Dance > Possum , Cities , Instant Karma! , David Bowie , Rhymes 1 , Divided Sky , Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan
Set 2 : Back on the Train > Rock and Roll > The Mango Song , Bug , Pebbles and Marbles , Halley's Comet > Meatstick > Run Like an Antelope
Encore : Suzy Greenberg
1 Phish debut.
Jamchart Notes:
Divided Sky - Determined to make up for some serious flubs in the 5/31/11 version, Trey in this instance introduces some very cool and very different staccato playing during the jam section.
Rock and Roll - Another excellent version with an extended jam that at various times is rhythmic, melodic, spacious, and powerful. Segue to "Mango Song" continues to draw praise from fans.
Show Notes:
This show marked the Phish debut of Rhymes. Antelope contained Meatstick, Bug, and Divided Sky teases. Suzy also contained Meatstick teases. After Bug, the crowd chanted "Let's Go Bruins" prompting the band to play in rhythm with the crowd's clapping. During the "Rye Rye Rocco" segment of Antelope, Trey introduced Fish as "Ladies and Gentlemen, on cymbal, Jon Fishman!" after he had missed the band's unified stop in the song.

Gap Chart, Tour: 2009 Early Summer Tour
Set 1 : Chalk Dust Torture , Fee , Wolfman's Brother , Guyute , My Sweet One , 46 Days , The Lizards , The Wedge , Strange Design , Tube , First Tube
Set 2 : Sand , Suzy Greenberg , Limb By Limb , The Horse > Silent in the Morning , Sugar Shack 1 , Character Zero > Tweezer
Encore : Joy 1 , Bouncing Around the Room , Run Like an Antelope > Tweezer Reprise
1 Debut.
Jamchart Notes:
Fee - Like 7/5/98, a vocal flub leads to an extended outro jam that quickly moves beyond the norm. Page's ambient effects and Trey's use of the whammy pedal combine to create a jam reminiscent of the late '90's sound.
Sand - One of the first great jams of 3.0. This version contains an old-school groove which goes "type 2" via a funk jam and an uplifting conclusion by way of a repetitive, descending riff from Trey.
Tweezer - The "Camden Tweezer." Old school, repetitive, amazing groove. Like a '92-'94 version.
Show Notes:
After forgetting the lyrics to Fee, Trey remarked that "We knew this one backstage." This show marked the debuts of Sugar Shack and Joy. Before the extended encore, Trey asked, "You guys in a rush to go anywhere?" He then talked about how much they had enjoyed the northeast run and that they wanted to play a few more songs before heading south (though he was careful to note that they love the south, too).

Phish, Wednesday 06/07/1995 (28 years ago) BSU Pavilion, Boise, ID, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 1995 Summer Tour
Set 1 : Possum , Weigh , Taste 1 , Strange Design , Stash , If I Could > Scent of a Mule , The Wedge , Funky Bitch , Slave to the Traffic Light
Set 2 : Ha Ha Ha > Maze , Spock's Brain , Theme From the Bottom , Hold Your Head Up > Lonesome Cowboy Bill 2 > Hold Your Head Up , Acoustic Army 1 , Sample in a Jar , Harry Hood , Suzy Greenberg
Encore : While My Guitar Gently Weeps
1 Debut. 2 Fish on trombone.
Jamchart Notes:
Possum - Several sections have a bleak and desolate tone, especially from 4:30 - 5:45, but the foreboding sentiment returns later.
Taste - Debut. Jam section features the same spiraling Trey and Page musicianship, but the lyrics, vocalist, and ending would remain a work in progress for another year. "The Fog That Surrounds" and "Taste That Surrounds" are both very similar (related) songs performed in 1995 as the band tinkered with the format for "Taste." See the song history for "Taste" on this site for more information.
The Wedge - "The Wedge" reemerges to close a 135 show gap. Notable principally for the now-familiar Fish-driven intro, this compact version also features cool and confident play from Trey.
Theme From the Bottom - Jam section has an unusual, repeated descending chord progression. At 8:20, it morphs into a creepy, nerve-rattling jam, returning to "Theme" proper at 9:55. The quality versions from 6/25/95 and 7/1/95 have a similar descending chord structure.
Show Notes:
This show marked the debuts of Taste and Acoustic Army. Trey teased Lazy in Possum. The Wedge was played for the first time since August 20, 1993 (135 shows). Lonesome Cowboy Bill featured Fish on trombone. Suzy included an Entrance of the Gladiators tease from Trey.

Set 2 : My Sweet One , Dinner and a Movie > Bouncing Around the Room > Tweezer , Uncle Pen , Divided Sky , Hold Your Head Up 1 > Love You 2 > Hold Your Head Up , Mike's Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove
Encore : Lawn Boy > Big Black Furry Creature from Mars
1 Fish on trombone at the end. 2 Fish on trombone.
Jamchart Notes:
Tweezer - Crazy, long early version. At one point Mike sounds like he will break into into "Heartbreaker."
Weekapaug Groove - Dissonant jam with lots of "DEG"-like jamming.
Show Notes:
The Chase was played for the first time since October 26, 1989 (108 shows). The end of the first HYHU and Love You featured Fish on trombone. The opening act was The Aquarium Rescue Unit.
