New to reddit, looking at a potential major career move:
Option 1 - stay where I am. I am currently a Civil Engineer at a government entity (going on 2 years here). I like what I do and I like the people around me, especially my boss who is 2 years from retirement. The main issue with this job is that I travel 40 minutes each way every day on a dangerous, mountainous stretch of freeway. I work four 10s to cut down on travel time which means I don't get home until 6:40 PM. My wife is extremely busy at nursing school; between the two of us I feel my kids haven't received the attention they may need, especially with homework. I make enough to get by at this job, but it would be nice to pay off debt faster. Also, moving is not really an option right now because my wife would be making the same drive in reverse to the University.
Option 2 - become GM at my current company. This is 2 years out. This would bump up the pay but have the same issues as far as driving and safety. There is the possibility that I would need to move, but my wife would graduate by then. The thing is I am not sure if I want to be the GM. I am a people pleaser; I think it would be stressful to try to keep everybody happy. I have a creative mind and it seems boring. That being said, I would probably be really good at it.
Option 3 - I received an unsolicited offer from a company on the consulting side where I live. It came with a sizable salary increase, an amazing sign-on bonus, and is an ESOP with great potential benefits. I would be home near 5:00 most nights which would be better for the family. The only real negative about it is the potential added stress - I've been on the consulting side before and I tend to take on too much (people pleaser). I am also having a hard time leaving the known great work environment. This is however currently the option I am favoring.
Option 4 - Similarly, I received an unsolicited offer 1 week after the first, oddly enough. This is more of a startup consulting firm (2 years old). They are one dimensional and tied heavily to the land development market. They offered me less than Option 3 in terms of salary and sign-on. However, they offered me up to 10% of the company. This would be a risky move and I am not one to take on risk.

Cross posting because I realized this is a real situation and so it shouldn't be breaking any rules in this sub. Apologies if my initial assumption of using the "off-topic" sub was correct.
All things on the United States side occurred in Texas, overseas was Romania.
I'm aware of a family who sold property in Europe. Then, said family transferred the money in small increments into their United States bank account. Small increments because they wanted to avoid triggering any kind of prying eyes noticing the income. I believe it was in the 80,000 Euro ballpark for the total amount. The family proceeded to give a portion of the money(6,000 USD) to their daughter, so she could give it to her fiance as a gift for a down payment on a house. They didn't directly give it to the fiance because once again, they didn't want anyone looking into their personal accounts and they knew the bank would only go one layer deep to verify the source. A gift letter was signed by daughter and fiance to verify that the funds were a gift and not a loan in disguise.
Here are my questions/concerns. Did the family commit tax evasion or any potential crime by intentionally trying to obfuscate the income when they moved it from overseas? Was it potentially a money laundering event when they tried to conceal the fact that the funds were from their accounts by moving them through another person's account first? Are there any crimes here, or does this all seem sketchy to me for no reason?
Edit 1: Where does the potential criminal liability end if there were crimes? Is the fiance on the hook for anything if they were aware of the original source but didn't know the reason behind the moves made by the parents at the time of the events?
Edit 2, to keep relevant info from comments(off-topic thread) on the main post: It was a single instance, cash transaction for the overseas sale(real estate, totally above board to my knowledge). They definitely moved the money in small amounts because they believed if they moved it as the lump sum that they received, it would be picked up automatically and reported by the bank on the US side. I know for certain this was a tactic to avoid income tax here, I just don't know if that was even something they needed to go to the trouble to avoid. Essentially, I'm worried that by trying to avoid paying taxes on something that may have been considered income, they may have caused a domino effect by continuing to move the money in sketchy ways. If intentionally hiding the income in the first place wasn't a crime of any kind, I don't think the things down the line would have been either.

A number of years ago, I had a Leviton LoadCenter installed by a regular electrician. I have no known problems with how they installed it, however, I quickly found that there's quite a bit of wiring in my house that isn't compatible with smart panels. Things like shared neutrals and the like. This results in things like the panel showing a negative value for wattage draw.
I would love it if I could find an electrician that's not only reliable and trustworthy, but also experienced with things like smart panels so they can know what needs to be done to get my wiring to a point where I'm actually getting the full benefit from my smart panel (and, I would think, make the house safer). I know a little bit about wiring and electrical stuff, but not nearly enough for me to be comfortable telling an electrician exactly what I need and being able to know if they're doing it right.
I tried to ask Leviton if they had a list of certified electricians for their equipment, but apparently, they don't do that. I'm considering finding a company that does both electrical wiring and low-voltage stuff as well in the hopes that there might be some more tech-savvy electricians, but my experience with that is that generally those are two separate teams and there's not necessarily a lot of knowledge sharing.
Is this a pipe (or perhaps conduit) dream? Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I've been following this page since the last half of my undergraduate career and I've learned a lot of advice. I come from a family where paycheck to paycheck is the norm and both of my parents are highly unlikely to be able to fully retire, let alone have the option. Seeing all the posts and information from here has helped set a vision for when I finish school and secure a job, I know to save my income, invest, and repeat, and learn to increase my income with continuing to acquire skills.
I was just offered and accepted my first job out of school!! After the last couple years of seeming to stand on the sidelines of this sub, I can finally begin my FIRE journey (for realsies). It's a loan specialist position that's 50-55k a year which is minuscule to what the majority on here make, but I don't care because it's my first gig out of school and I'm so giddy that I wanted to make a post here. It's a great company with opportunity to move up into a loan officer position and then I can REALLY crank up my savings.

I’m M20, I have major depressive disorder. I didn’t see any reason to live until I met her. It’s more like obsession and I don’t want to be in a relationship with her under this identity because I feel its selfish. I am in love with this woman. We have been talking for 8 months. I don't know what happened, but before it was all fine, but now? It seemed like something overwrite it. I thought it was YUP + DLCs it tends to do that. Hi all -
I have booked 3x hotels for my upcoming Austria trip. I just checked in to my first hotel.
We have a toddler, so I usually go for breakfast included options because waking up and getting him a full breakfast sets us up for a good day. When I say usually, I always select the breakfast included option unless it’s a ridiculously expensive breakfast.
In all three of these cases, Chase Travel is telling me that they don’t have any record of me making a breakfast included reservation. And they’re right - I don’t see anything on my confirmation email INDICATING that breakfast is included. I called all three hotels and they don’t have any breakfast included reservations.
There’s no way I messed this up three times. In fact, my wife and I sat together and made one of the bookings in a side by side comparison BECAUSE the breakfast included rate was a better deal.
I spoke with Chase and a very hostile travel supervisor (Kat) basically accused me of trying to get away with something and demanded I show proof. I tried to tell her I spend (and paid off) nearly 70k on this card in the last year (lots of business travel) and that arguing with her for $200 is just not something I would do - I will just take my business elsewhere.

I am 26F, going solo for a trip to Manali from Delhi. Have had solo trips before but never been to Himachal except for Shimla which was quite meh.
So for this trip I'll be staying in Old Manali away from the commercialisation that Manali offers. It's for 2N/3D.
Basically what I've in my mind is: Day 0: Leave from Delhi at night Day 1: Reach Manali, trek to Old Manali, check in, visit places in and around Day 2: Go somewhere nearby offbeat and come back by evening Day 3: Explore around and board bus in evening

Has anyone bought anything on Gunbroker using guntab?
I’m in the process of doing so, and I’ve sent my transaction request via guntab. The seller requested any credit card payments be made via guntab. He also accepts money orders, checks, etc but I chose to go the CC route.
My only fear is being double charged for the order. The seller just told me, “OK, I’ve approved the transaction. It’s now waiting for you to update some information. Also, I think you need to select “Buy Now” on GunBroker to prevent someone else from choosing that option.”
Wouldn’t this just charge me double for the same order? I don’t see a “guntab” option on the Gunbroker checkout screen. Any tips?

F'real, anything. I have been running strategy / tycoon / management PBP games for over 20 years now. The basic concept is that you are the manager, not the hero, so you raise armies, harvest resources, research things, send other fools to die, etc. I have done, homebrewed, or idly thought up damn near anything I can think up, including:

• Bog standard high fantasy duchy management
• Steampunk fantasy empire kingdom builder. Must include airships and stompy robots.
• Hell gets sundered and you're a demon prince working to defeat the others and rebuild it
• Superhero squad management game. Build a base, recruit a crime-fighting team, hijinks ensue
• Investigative Monster o'th' Week. Ghostbusters, X-com, Hellboy, SCP, gold rush San Francisco but X-Files-y, pick your flavor.
• Run a private space company starting a moonbase. Do you love dealing with subcontractors and project bids? I can make it fun.
• Pacific Rim. Build your giant stompy robots, punch kaiju
• Sci-fi colonization, like SMAC or maybe Ixion, with more plot.
• Zombies, but it's about building the base, managing resources, etc.
• Post-any flavor of apocalyptic
• What if, like, you're a god trying to get worshippers?

Requirements: Must 100% love crunch, and also 100% love fluff. Or, put differently, should suffer from delusions of authorship as well as a crippling love of spreadsheets.
While I have tried to run any of these as multiplayer, w/ each player having their own fief (literal or figurative), those inevitably fall to pieces. Games are 1 on 1 unless you and your bestie both want to play and you pinkie swear to keep up w/ the turns.

So, I saw a couple videos on the interwebs about a dope looking game that recently released along with my coworkers talking to me about it so i decided to check out a couple videos and im really interested.
I know its dumb to come onto reddit and ask for online peoples opinions on what to do with my money, but as someone who hasn't played any diablo games before, hadn't heard of the PoE game in all these comments im reading until 20 minutes ago, and all these others games, I don't really know what Im getting into, and I got hell paying attention to youtube videos.
I played elden ring after never playing a souls game and loved it, 100% it within 3 weeks of buying it, and was an amazing game. So I am in no way against trying a new game in a genre I haven't really ever touched before, I just wanted some more seasoned peoples opinions if you got the time to give it. Thanks!

Title says it basically. I went sugarfree a couple months ago and stuck with it for almost 6 weeks. Then I want on vacation and that fell out the window. I've been binging since. This shit is real; reliance on sugar is a full stop drug addiction. I'd like a number of peope to make an accountability group. At least 4/5 to keep momentum going, but not more than 10 to keep from making it too easy to fade into the background without anyone noticing. I figure we can give our first names (aliases if you'd like) and we can all check on each other at the end of each day to try and encourage commitment to a sugarfree lifestyle. DM me if interested.

I'm in a situation where I have several symptoms that the doctors can't find the cause of. I've checked my nose, sinuses, throat, x-rayed lungs, seen a dermatologist, blood tests are fine. So I've been starting to wonder if hormones could have anything to do with it and whether I should see an endocrinologist (is that even an English word?)
I am diagnosed with PCOS and have had hormonal imbalances since my teens, for context. Now I'm just wondering if any of you guys have noticed similar struggles to me, or if you know of any research between hormones and the following:
Frequent infections and sickness, especially in the airways.
Digestive issues, IBS, nausea.
On and off fatigue.
Wounds healing very slowly, easy bruising.
