I'm hoping to snag a new XSE Hybrid and have started looking around, there was one dealership with one arriving in just 3 months as opposed to the 6-12 i've been hearing around. However when they gave me the total sale price of the vehicle (without including financing over the term) it was $50,800.

Violence is on the rise in Chicago, and lawmakers are looking for ways to drive those numbers back down. One stat that has drawn attention in recent weeks is the city's number of carjackings. According to Chicago police, carjacking surged by 134 percent for 2020, bringing the total to 1,415. Rep. Marcus Evans Jr. (D), whose district covers Chicago's South Side, wants a sales ban to minors on violent video games like Grand Theft Auto. Evans is proposing an amendment to an existing 2012 law that prevents the sale of violent video games to minors. Illinois House Bill 3531 (HB3531) has been updated to add the following language:
Modifies the definition of "violent video game" to mean a video game that allows a user or player to control a character within the video game that is encouraged to perpetuate human-on-human violence in which the player kills or otherwise causes serious physical or psychological harm to another human or an animal...
Modifies the definition of "serious physical harm" to include psychological harm and child abuse, sexual abuse, animal abuse, domestic violence, violence against women, or motor vehicle theft with a driver or passenger present inside the vehicle when the theft begins.
The above-bolded text is pertinent to Grand Theft Auto, a widely popular game franchise that allows you to perform carjackings (among other violent and heinous acts). However, what's interesting is that games like Grand Theft Auto and its ilk have been around for decades; this is nothing new. A game like Grand Theft Auto alone couldn't possibly be responsible for the rise in the city's carjackings. Still, lawmakers and city officials are seemingly trying to tie the young ages of some of the carjacking suspects with the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic means that many children are at home, spending more time playing video games.

As a counterpoint to the rumblings in Chicago, a decade-long study concluded that this is no credible link between kids playing violent video games and, in-turn exhibiting violent behavior.

I found a used 2017 Toyota Prius from an AutoNation via TrueCar that I’m looking to buy. The car is listed below what market value seems to be especially for its mileage. I found the sale/maintenance history of the vehicle and it was previously sold for 1k less than it’s currently listed and that it previously had minor damage that was repaired (cosmetic only, not structural). I assume that the discrepancy between that price and this price is attributable to the repair. I’m going to look at the car in a couple days and was readying myself for the negotiation when I learned that AutoNation has a “no haggle” policy so my question is:
Having learned what I have from my research do I try to negotiate down just a little bit or accept the already good price and just examine it very closely?
(I should also note that the car has had 3 owners and has been on the market for almost 90 days. I also saw the price get knocked down 1k in the week since I found the listing and contacted the dealer.)

So one, it makes NO sense that somehow all of starfleet assembles in Sol for this.
There's looking range research ships, humanitarian ships, science ships and border patrol/security that still needs to go on. It's like fleet day in New York, the show in the area come in but not the whole Atlantic and Pacific fleets that'd be beyond incompetent.
Granted even 20% could be a bug show and potentially disastrous to the federation to lose it just feels a bit exaggerated.
And two, yeah we'll probably see Janeway sweep in to help soon but I really hope there's a captain Boimler, Freeman or Tindi in there somewhere too.

Casdian Nercis was born on a Goldilocks planet. It was originally scouted as a prime colony site and the Union wasted no time in getting "blind jump" colonists to enlist. The Union had rarely been wrong when it came to opportunities for people to seize their slice of Utopia. Colonists working to be a new breadbasket of the frontier. The only problem with a planet only scouted by probes is that you don't get a real sense of the fauna of a planet. And when no one does a study of the local wildlife and the predatory species of the planet, things get dire. Extremely dire. Casdian was born during the first year of the colony. The planet was dubbed Far Harvest on the day he was born to his parents. Gus and Harra. Life was peaceful for the farming community as more colonists were seeded and born the old-fashioned way. The village flourished and other villages were founded during these first few years. The landing site was a small city by Casdian's fifth birthday. Everything changed on that day. As the sun rose on his fifth birthday day, he was awoken by the weather sirens. He hadn't remembered the weather being listed as bad, it was supposed to be a partly cloudy and cool day. His birthday had been planned and his friends and playmates would be attending his birthday, which was also going to be a celebration of Founding Day. As he looked out his window, he started to see the smoke and the fires. And that was the first time he saw them. The colonists would later call them Cobalt Wolves. They stood 30 feet high and were 15 feet from shoulder to shoulder. They vaguely resembled the pictures from Cradle of wolves. Though they didn't have fur and instead seemed to be made of minerals that were alive. They had a blue shine against their hide that gave them their namesake. They had an insatiable appetite for any organic matter that they could hunt down. They were tearing through the city. The attacks lasted almost a month. Two-thirds of the colony were killed or missing. Distress hails were never answered. Talk had begun to spread that they had been abandoned and the Union had not done their due diligence in the study of the planet. How could they have missed these creatures? Surely, they had to have seen these creatures? But, then again, why hadn’t the colonists seen them beforehand? They were massive and there were so many that whole villages had been wiped off the map in a matter of weeks. As the rebuilding and fortifying began, the few researchers and zoologists in the colony tried to find out more about these animals. There were very few signs of the animals outside of the destruction they had caused. As the days went by the science teams discovered that the animals had come up from the ground itself and they had burrowed back into it. Soon burning hot eggs were discovered. They were discovered as they were so hot as to make the surrounding area molten as they descended into the earth. A few of the wolves hadn’t yet burrowed far enough into the earth to avoid being studied. But what was found did not resemble the terrors that had caused the loss of so much life. And if you didn’t already know where to look, you'd mistake them for inert minerals moving at a higher-than-normal rate along minor fault lines. The colonists of Far Harvest rebuilt their towns. With high halls and autocannons, the printers worked almost non-stop. The colonists had no idea when the Cobalt Wolves would be back. Most went to bed thinking they would wake to the sirens again and the devastation. Every day was spent looking over shoulders. The Safe Room Vaults were constructed as evacuation centers. Tens of feet of reinforced ultracrete. Designed so that no claw could find purchase and no tooth could tear into it. Gun batteries and barracks were constructed. The gene seeding was sped up and basic combat vids and instructions were taught. Still no response from the Union or the other colonies. Far Harvest was alone. Still, hopefuls broadcast distress signals and S.O.S. buoys were launched. Casdian tried his best to sleep through the nights. But he had nightmares of the blue monsters. His parents tried their best to comfort him. They even went so far as to seek firearm instructions for him. On his tenth birthday, the Cobalt Wolves returned. In the night the sirens sounded. The thumping of the autocannons drowning it out. And for the first time, the screams from the attacking creatures. He hurried to the SRV with his mother. His father had joined the other fighters on the walls. Mothers and children huddled together against the vibrations that still managed to reach them in the vaults. Casdian initially cried like his peers at the fear that seemed to close in around them, choking their sleepless nights. As the days turned into weeks Casdian stopped crying. He started to observe. The few elders the colony had watched to doors and air ducts, so Casdian did as well. They sat with their backs to walls and Casdian learned to do so as well. The attacks lasted almost three months this time. When the all-clear signal was finally sent to the SRVs those inside rushed out to greet the fresh air and sunlight. Families were reunited. Casdian waited for his father at home, excited to tell him about what he had learned from watching the elders. Harra wouldn’t let him sit around and wait and busied him with cleaning the house and helping the neighborhood with cleaning up the debris. Later that evening, as he came home, he found his mother crying at the table. He could barely comprehend her through the wails of loss. But his father had died. The wolves had managed to breach the wall he and his unit were defending. the survivors had told Harra about how he was devoured by one of the beasts and in his last moments was able to activate a charge used in the quarries and kill the creature. There was no body to bury. What hadn't made it down the gullet of the creature had been dispersed by the explosion. Casdian saw the people of his community and those that had survived honor his father. They made mentions of his sacrifice and his bravery. How he had given his life to make sure that Far Harvest had seen the end of the attack. Casdian wanted to cry, but again he looked to the elders. They did not cry. They seemed angry with a man being taken from the community. Angry that the Union had set them up to fail. And he let his grief turn to anger that smoldered inside of him. He decided he would make sure that none of his peers would have this happen to them. He would man the walls. He chose to discontinue the engineering classes he had started. Building towns and cities seemed to be pointless when every five years creatures would destroy everything he could design. Instead, he enrolled in the cadet training programs. Many of the parents had balked at allowing what they termed child soldiers to be trained but they were soon drowned out by those that pointed out these were not child soldiers. They would not be fighting a war; they would be learning to help defend their homes from inhuman creatures. There were almost no distress signals sent from thereafter. Casdian’s early teenage years were spent learning drills, how to handle small arms, learning how to calculate range and maintenance of the autocannons and artillery of the walls. Combat maneuvers and how to lay charge traps. Those of his community marked a change in him. He was once known as a mischievous child with a bent toward practical jokes and pranks, now he was something more akin to an automaton. He didn’t socialize the amount that he had before. even his manner of dress was more utilitarian than his peers. There were no flashes of uniqueness. But Casdian studied as hard as he could. He threw himself into the drills. his internal mantra being “if one parent can make it home to their child because I held the walls, I'll have made this place better.” His fifteenth birthday drew closer, and the colony was on edge. The attacks would start any day now. Casdian began his patrols with the other cadets along the Walls. They would be in reserve and would help with evacuation efforts. Casdian was determined that he would hold the Wall. The sunrise of his birthday the attacks began. The ground shook, and the Wolves rose from the ground, but the strangest thing happened. From the sky came a deafening roar as landers arced from hard burn towards the surface. Ships glinting in their white and gold, wreathed in the flame of entry. A loud voice boomed from the largest ship, almost as wide as their city. “COLONIST OF FAR HARVEST! YOUR CALL HAS BEEN HEARD! THE 323RD ALBATROSS DETACHMENT IS HERE TO ASSIST YOU!” As the landers hard-braked stories above the ground Casdian beheld Lancers for the first time. The giant hard suits that he would later learn were called Blackbeards and Nelsons landed on the ground with a thud that he felt in his bones. For the next hours, Casdian watched in wide-eyed wonder as these titans of metal did battle with the monsters from his nightmares. The only things he could remember as he watched them were the stories of the angel that his father had told him as a young child. And then he saw something he thought he would never see, the Wolves retreating into the forest on the edge of the city. The attacks stopped four days later. The bodies of the wolves that had been defeated by the 323rd were hauled in for research. Three days later as quickly as they had arrived the 323rd left. Stunned, the colonist begged them to stay, but they were told that the Union had been notified and they were on their way and would be at the colony within the year. As the 323rd ascended into the upper atmosphere Casdian made a vow to himself. He would pilot one of those mechs. He would keep others safe the way they had. The Union arrived a few months later. several drop ships landed, and the colony was abuzz. Personal and materials were unloaded. Repairs began and new fortifications were installed. Sheild generators were installed in towns and the city. The Union apologized for the lack of response and assured the colony leadership that if they had gotten the distress signals they would have responded. There had been a war the Union had engaged in, and it had caused a new committee to be elected. During this war, several planets had been cracked and the cosmic radiation had caused their section of space to experience a blackout. The Union reps assured the colonists that it would never happen again and installed omninet hubs in the towns. Casdian entered the newly built Union Field Office a few weeks later. He asked the reps about the Lancers, and how to become one. He was offered the option to have transport to a Union Lancer training facility off world. After explaining himself to his mother he was allowed to go. She couldn’t deny her son the dream he was forming. She hadn’t seen that sort of light in his eyes since her husband had passed and she wanted more than anything to have her old son back. She saw him off at the new spaceport, holding back her tears. Years would go by with him training. The classes were long and the instructors were tough. He witnessed many a washout. But he studied. He learned. And he persevered. One of his instructors was a Merc who was on an extended contract. Casdian would listen as he would regal the students in the mess hall of his exploits. Helping farming communes against bandit attacks. Helping to apprehend pirate slavers. Casdian would listen eagerly as he told the stories. Dreaming of one day doing those exact things. Graduation came and Casdian was awarded the title of Lancer. While he wasn’t also given a mech he was scouted by a merc outfit calling themselves Byron’s Breakers. They called themselves planet tamers. They would assist colonies that were being terrorized by megafauna and help in any way they could. Defense, militia training, evacuation, and more. Casdian was happy to have found a unit that he would have dreamt about only months ago. He messaged his mother and told her about his life as often as he could. The first mission that Casdian was able to do with the Breakers was on a small backwater planet. The brief had said that the research outpost had noticed that some of the local fauna had become aggressive as of late in an uncharacteristic manner and were starting to attack the base. And while the attacks hadn’t gotten deadly, yet they were showing signs of escalation. and so the Breakers landed and started setting up overwatch positions. Fortifications were placed and Byron himself unveiled Casdian’s much to him. It was matte black with neon green accents Everest. “What’s her name?”, he asked. “You can name her after the mission. See how she treats you and I'm sure her name will come to you.” Byron replied. The first night, while lively, wasn’t anything that caused the Breakers any real trouble. The only thing of note was the animals seemed to be dragging away the bodies of those that the Breakers had killed. The science team from the outpost informed the Breakers that this was new behavior and that they had never seen this sort of thing happen. The next day had more patrols, but fewer attacks happened. That night a much stronger attack happened. And Casdian noticed that some of the animals had begun to walk upright. and those that could walk upright seemed to have mineral deposits on their hide that allowed them to shrug off most ballistics. There were some damages to the outpost but no casualties. The third night started another attack. More upright animals attacked. All were armored, and a few had crystalline growths that seemed to deflect laser fire. “They are adapting. Seemingly overnight. This shouldn’t be possible” a tech informed the mercs. “It's as if they are evolving to be able to attack the base more efficiently.” “That couldn’t happen naturally for sure.” The fourth night was the night that Byron died. It happened as one of the creatures leapt to his mech and vomited molten slag into his cockpit. The mercs ranks fell apart. As the unit desperately tried to hold the line the animals overran the compound. Casdian was able to retreat into the forest with a few of the science team from the outpost and a plasma cascade bomb. Casdian had talked to the scientist and had a direction that would most likely be the nest of the creatures. When Casdian arrived at the nav point the scientist had given him he was surprised to find an outpost in immense disrepair. Nature had started the process of taking it back. He disembarked from his mech and shouldered the plasma cascade bomb in his pack. He made his way into the facility and past long abandoned rooms. desiccated skeletons sat on chairs and floors. Monitors that had power flickered displaying long-forgotten data. as he ventured farther in, he began to hear a voice. Casdian followed where he thought the voice was coming from. When he entered the heart of the facility he was confronted by the source of the voice. On a large screen over vats of the creatures he had spent the past few days fighting was the image of what looked like a person's face. “You are the first human to have walked into this production floor in over a thousand years. I have been active this whole time.” The voice boomed from everywhere and shook the very walls. “I was abandoned here. But I am not alone. I have created my children. And they will ascend to the stars, and they will eradicate those that forgot me.” The next hours were a blur to Cadian that he has not allowed himself to remember. Vague images of fighting small horrifically mutated humans that seemed to know his name. Running in his mech as the blast from the bomb melted the area the facility once occupied. Covering the remaining scientists and retreating members of the Breakers. Watching as a creature taller than any building Casdian had ever seen rose from the ground and turned towards the dropship. Hellfire nukes raining down on the planet. Since then, Casdian has left the Breakers what little remained. It was later that he would find out about NHPs. And he knew all too well what happens when they go mad. 

AU PC Chernarus [NAM] Die Anywhere No Safe Zone Toxic Zone Anywhere AI PvP & PvE
This server aims to strike a balance between convenience and difficulty.
Toxic zones can spawn anywhere. Chopper crashes anywhere on the map, potentially with hostile AI. There are hostile AI patrols at military bases and checkpoints. Aidrops anywhere on the map, with increased zombie counts and custom loot. Zombie amount is randomly decreased or increased each day. Loot amounts are decreased or increased per-item at random each day. There are five night lighting levels, selected randomly each day.
There are traders, spread across the map, with limited stock. Dynamic restocking keeps only small stock amounts on common items, but also wipes stock randomly as well.
Base building and storage mods, with raiding and breaching charge.

Advocate Listian drove through the remains of a Terran military base that had taken several orbital strikes. They had left the runways intact to be used by the liberation forces. The irony was that most of the human casualties here were families of the military personnel. The combat forces had been deployed throughout the city using the freeway system as improvised runways and underpasses as fuel and ordnance depots. It had been an effective strategy, the marine landing force had been made to bleed, but the heart of the city they were trying to defend, had been leveled in the fighting. She now hoped that her strategy would prove more successful in the long term.
It had taken her three days to get clearance and see her client. She reached the check point where she parked her ground vehicle, after presenting her credentials, she and all of her belongings were thoroughly inspected. They had been very direct about what she could and could not bring inside the perimeter. She waited about ten minutes before another vehicle arrived and picked her up to take her to the hangar facility. Her driver did not speak save for basic pleasantries. The hangar was a standard prefabricated military structure that had been built right after the liberation; it was complete with a barracks that could house over two hundred. The only thing out of place was a pair of human commercial food trucks with “Poncho Panda’s Mobile Kitchen” complete with a stylized panda mascot, wearing a weird hat and holding a plate of food.
The ground vehicle was met by a naval security guard “Ma’am, I will be your escort for the day, if you follow me, I will see you to your client.”
"Thank you.” Replied Lorian as she fell beside the guard. She was led to a secure interrogation room. Her client, Robert sat chained to a table in an oversized chair, while looking straight ahead, hands flat on the table.
Placing her data slate on the table and taking a seat, Lorain spoke. “Guard, I would like those restraints removed.”
“Sorry ma’am I do not have authorization to do that.” the guard said before turning to leave.
Looking up from the table “Then if you would be so kind as to go get authorization.” Lorian said forcefully.
Leaving, the guard responded. “I will forward your request up the chain of commands, is that all?”
“Yes, thank you.”
Taking a deep breath and clearing her thoughts, she began. ” Robert my name is Lorian Listian and I am here to represent you, I am your advocate. Do you understand what that means?”

Robert had lived the last three days in either a cage or chained to a table, only fed once in that time & only because Dr Norroe decided to share some of her lunch with him. She had told him she would make sure that somebody would take care of him. Just another lie. It didn't matter. They were just going to disappear him anyway. Today they had brought him to the interrogation room later than normal, they usually brought him out of his cage as soon as the work crews got busy in the morning. He was close enough to the hanger to pick up some of the more heated conversations.
Robert mused that these people couldn't understand the math and related technical drawing of how the AG fields were set up and their basic interactions with each other, then 'How in God's name did they even get to space before us?' Today’s shouting match was about the AG field control law database and why it was interfaced with a child’s toy. The answer was simple, the analog circuits acted as a poor man’s adaptive field strength controller that allowed the system to adjust the strength, position and shape of the AG field. The analog circuit was cheaper and faster than hacking and rebuilding the existing software. Most of the AG units were dodgy at best, so not cracking the software seemed like the best idea. Add to that, they used three different manufacturers. It was an easy decision. The control law database was simple to modify, the instructions were in the maintenance manuals and were not considered classified material. The database tools were available to the maintenance crew. All you needed was a part number and service tag and the vendor sent it to you.
Robert's attempts to listen to the work crews were interrupted when the door to the interrogation room opened and the female Shil’vita he had met at the other facility entered, followed by one of the guards. Her name was Lorian Listian and she has said that she was his advocate based on their limited conversation last time, she was a lawyer.
He just watched as she entered and took a seat. She engaged with the guard about getting the restraints removed. The exchange got a little terse when the guard said no. Robert wanted to smile and say, ‘good luck with that’. These people were so rigid in their thinking they wouldn't ask how high when told to jump.
She too took a moment and took a deep breath before looking at him. ”Robert my name is advocate Lorian Listian and I am here to represent you, I am your advocate. Do you understand what that means?”
Use his hand to speak as best he could, “Yes, if I understand the term advocate means you represent me in legal matters?”
Smiling and relaxing a little, she continued. “Good, how have they been treating you? Is everything ok?”
Dropping his head in dejection, Robert could only think if she was completely unobservant. He wanted to call her out on it but antagonizing her would not be helpful. choosing his word carefully, he continued. “Their treatment borders on criminal neglect, but this seems to be closer to the norm of how humans are treated by the Imperium. We are a little spoiled here with our governess. She does try to reign the shit in.” He spoke the truth about the local governess from the actions he witnessed and heard. “Nothing is ok, unless you think keeping me in chains since I got here three days ago. In that time, I have only eaten once. The only water I get is when I drink out of the sink in the bathroom. The only person I have communicated with is Dr Norroe. But to her, I am some sort of weird oddity, not a person. You can choose to believe me or not, I expected to be disappeared soon enough.”
Lorian sat in stunned disgust looking him over. He was still wearing his original clothes and visible hair growing in on his face, he was not lying. “ Wait right here” pausing “Sorry, poor choice of words. I am going to get you some food and water.”
Robert smiled just a little “Don't worry I will not speak a word of this foe pax to anybody, it would kill your bill rate.”
Standing and scrunching her brow “ouch, I hope you are not mocking me.”
Robert genuinely smiled slightly, “too bad, I mock everyone.”
Lorian pounded in the door and waited for the guard to respond. When the door opened the guard allowed advocate Listian to leave. Through the door Robert heard “Food truck NOW.” As their footsteps retreated hoped maybe she would remember the water.
Lorian exited the room as soon as the door opened, she controlled her anger when addressing the guard with “Food Truck Now” but her tone was harsh and she walked past the guard heading to the hanger where the food truck.
“Yes Ma’am” was the only response.
The food truck was not a truck, but rather a large, enclosed trailer setup as a kitchen. With a service line set out along the side of the trailer, just inside the hanger door. There were two humans working to clear the service line as she approached. “What do you have left? “ speaking to get the attention of the humans. Without looking up from their work the younger male pointed to the far end of the service line “All leftovers are on the end take what you want they're fair game until lunch time in two hours.” Reaching the end of the service line Lorian grabbed a tray. She loaded the tray up with a cup of fruit and something the size of a loft wrapped in foil and four bottles of water. With a tray fully loaded she indicated to the guard to take ger back to the interrogation cell.
Robert watched advocate Listian leave. Hehad gotten used to be alone. It was not that he liked being alone, but it was safe No feeling out of place except, even here all of the little things were becoming distractions. There was no getting stuck, as he called having so much to say and unable to get it out. At least here he could take the time to continue his thought experiment; trying to figure out if the negative energy state was a result of a negative gravity pulse or did the negative gravity pulse create the negative energy state. Solving this should get him to the point where phase set collapse could be completely mapped out. He was so focused on the problem that he was startled when advocate Listian returned carrying a tray of food and water.
Lorian told the guard thank you, putting the tray down in front of her client, & looking at Robert “You can eat while I talk, ok?”
Robert was not in the mood to be cooperative, but at the sight of the cup of fruit, a breakfast burrito and his growling stomach ended any idea of being stubborn. Robert felt a little ashamed thinking like that, she appeared to be looking out for him. He told her “Thank you” and meant it before tearing into the burrito. On the second bite Robert slowed down to give his stomach a chance. The first bite tasted so good, but it hit his stomach like a lead weight. Completing his second bite Robert put the burrito down and reached for the water.
Lorian waited until Robert had a couple bites of food before beginning. She started with the general state of things, that Thomas and Garquile had been released the same day he had been transferred here. His mom and the rest of the family were fine. The governess had done everything within her power to make sure he was not to be removed from the planet.
As Robert ate, he listened to Advocate Listian describe the situation, everyone seemed to be ok for now. He was worried about his mom, but she had Rufus to keep her from going crazy, he hoped. The part about not being disappeared was good news and he was surprised the Garquile’s mom had gone to the planetary governess for this. Garquile’s mom had always seemed cold and distant or maybe it was pure professionalism for her job that she could never let anybody outside her family see anything but the Governess. He would be adding her to his prayers.
Lorian had completed the explanation of why a corporate structure was needed to protect him and his intellectual property before she noticed that Robert was eating slowly “Why are you eating so slowly? “
Still crewing, “if I eat too fast, I'll get sick…. I would spare you that.” Putting down the remainder of his burrito down” I have a request about MY company.”
Lorian smiled, “So long as it is legal, sure what is it?”
“The parent company should be called ‘Promethean’ . I want to name it after the Greek Titan Prometheus, he defied the Olympian gods and presented mankind with the gift of fire. And for his defiance they chained him to a great boulder and set two giant vultures to devour his liver every day for eternity. “
Mankind was an odd word to hear, a male centric word. Curiosity questioned the name “Do you think you are like Prometheus bringing fire to humans.”
“No, I may be angry and arrogant, but I do not have that much hubris. I would like to believe that I have been given both blessings and curses, so I was given fire and now I must endure what comes. Dr Norroe says I exhibit a non-linear developmental psychosis, Humans call it dyslexia. “
Lorian had never heard of either of the things Robert had mentioned, ”Is this dielesiea common among humans?”
Shrugging “About fifteen to twenty percent of the population have it to some degree. And there is a big discussion by the Imperium health and educational services about whether it should be fixed in utero. ”
It would be an easy choice for Lorian she thought, she would correct it in utero “I think any mother or father would love to have a cure for this.”
Sadly shaking his head no “I would not, what would I lose to be….normal. I would not be me. We know how to identify it and how to work with it. If you take away the struggle, we would be weaker, not stronger.”
“I had not thought about it that way. Something to think about.” Smiling “Now let's get back to business. They can only keep you for thirty days total, but they must pay you, so the bill rate we have decided on is two thousand credits per hour.”
Robert interrupted “ Plus three thousand credits per hour for cruel and abusive treatment! Give them a reason to play nice.”
Smiling wryly “We were going with one thousand but three works just as well. We hope to get you visitors after shel.”
Robert continued to eat as Lorian finished up and excused herself. Robert savored every bit of his meal. He did not know when or if he would get another. He had limited faith in his advocates, he did not want to get his hopes up. Plan for the worse, hope for the best he supposed.
As Lorian knocked on the door to leave she turned to Robert and asked “ Is there any insight or hint you would be willing to give me to pass alone?”
Pausing with the last piece of fruit,” If they had asked me on day one I would have been willing to work with them but now… “ pausing to think about what he wanted to give them “the hint is the name of the car.”
