Whitney rolled her eyes.
“Crystal,” Krieg snarled.
Rain hammered the plascrete, as storm clouds rolled in above Satellite Valley. Every inch of space not consumed by buildings, or the road had been converted into solar panel storage. Thousands of new cameras had been installed throughout the district a month ago, after a heist turned into arson and threatened the entire of the district. The skyway was surveyed by a veritable net of bulky, square combat drones, each of which possessing full access to the security network. I hated working in Satellite Valley.
Locust’s corporate tower was a mighty sentinel of automated aggression, eagerly overlooking the city, waiting to its payload of robotic death upon whoever was foolish enough to be made an example out of. The obsidian spire was framed with lines of streaming neon lights. An immense sign read, ‘Locust Munitions and Automotive,’ perched atop the building like a ridiculous square hat. I glanced to the security monitors atop the enviro-dome: no threat level increase. That in itself was a damned miracle; anytime a vehicle entered from outside the district, the threat prediction algorithm would do a routine threat level increase. Marcel and Maggy must have figured out a way around it, but how?
Finally, we reached the parking garage. The doors opened, but Marcel and Maggy never said a word. I left a credstick on my seat, nothing much, only a couple thousand; it was the least I could do—they’d seen me through so many hard times.
The garage was quiet. I compressed the button on a localized jammer as we all stepped out. The cameras sputtered for a moment before continuing their rotations. Marcel had dropped us at the bottom of the garage, a block away from the maintenance entrance. Krieg and Carol fell into formation, flanking me on either side; Whitney followed a few feet back, with Ursa and Monitor taking up the rear. With a thought my HALO readied my guns. I selected non-lethal rounds, watched the drums spin and clicked on my norepinephrine regulator. This was it; chances like this came along once in a career. This much plutonium would be enough to fund a retirement—if I ever decided to retire.
“Alright, team, load up non-lethal rounds, keep it quiet and stay in formation; on my mark!” I said, drawing both guns.
Whitney’s cufflinks cast sparks to the ground; tasers. Figures, she’d never had a stomach for murder, not outside of the man in her basement who she apparently intended to torture to death. I suppose the world had changed both of us. I could see it in the way she moved: she was leagues above were she’d been before we’d all went our separate ways. She was a professional now.
We wove through the shadows, careful to avoid stepping out of line. The cameras wouldn’t give us away, everything organic in a ten foot radius of the jammer would be masked, refracted like it was never there. Unfortunately, even with the best gadgets the risk of human intervention was still present. I slipped on my rebreather as we crested the garage’s slope. A small door situated between two separate webs of piping and wires sat across the room. The maintenance entrance. I flashed a fabricated security pass and the door slid open.
I emerged into a narrow corridor, the walls lined with hissing pipes and loose valves. We shifted into single file. Humidity drenched the room, accruing on the walls like hackers on an open HALO channel. The heat was nearly unbearable. I couldn’t help but think of how vulnerable we were. I let out a short, crisp whistle and started hustling forward in a quiet jog. All we could do was move fast and hope none of the staff had to leave mid-shift. Finally, we reached our destination: an automated door that chirped a synthetic sounding, “Good morning!” as I flashed the fake security pass.
Immense glass frames were laced throughout the metallic black hallway. The scent of industrial cleaner hung in the air, and the walls were decorated with surrealist art depicting melting faces, distorted objects and psychedelic landscapes. The group slid to a halt as something robotic whirred into the distance.
Carol’s eyes flashed to me, begging for permission.
Unsure, I slowly nodded back. Her cyber-shell tensed up, assuming a crouched position with her head covered by her arms. Her eyes were empty. I’d never seen anything like it; what the hell was she up to?
I waited with bated breath as the whirring slowly drew closer. I pointed my SMGs, but Krieg glanced at me, shaking his head. Finally, a security droid rounded the corner, taking point beside Carol. Whitney rolled her eyes.
The stairs were impossibly wide, apparently designed as the workers primary avenue of transportation, despite the intricate elevator system present; Locust reserved luxuries like elevators, breaks and days off for the higher ups. We clung to the shadows as we ascended the stairwell.
“Hey, what the hell are you doing here?” a guard called out, rapidly levelling a hand cannon towards the group.
Krieg’s finger reconfigured itself, firing a pair of darts into the guard’s neck. He hit the ground almost instantly.
“Poor bastard should have just pretended like he never saw anything and went about his—” Ursa started, before a rocket pierced his chest, detonating from within.
A hail of gore rained down upon the crew. We were helpless; there was no cover, no tactical advantage to be found. I clicked the guns over to lethal, enabling explosive rounds. Whitney dove forward. The shooter launched another missile, landing square in Krieg’s chest. Despite the obvious damage, the cyborg endured, his arms reshaping into miniguns as he bellowed a war cry.
And just like that, the run went loud.

A little context, I'm Pos 3 PB my friend is Pos 4 Sky. 2k game. The lane was lost maybe 6 mins in so I tried my best to play safe and farm but eventually the Void and Lion just shoved me out and I'm chain dying top. I leave to find room to farm play with team but it's hard.
Maybe 15mins in and can't find a place to play. I have no real useful items to keep me safe anywhere yet and the off lane is being pressured by Void Lion, mid by their mid and ours, and two not showing. Spectre is farming great in a warded jungle and pushes the lane on. My Pos 5 is bot and my Sky is stacking the tri. I took some stacks in the Tri and my Sky was extremely upset that I wasn't making space.
I was a little annoyed in turn since there was no safe place to play. She then told me it's not my job to take Tri stacks and that I should be dying on the map somewhere ("chain feeding") to keep our carry safe.
I was a little annoyed as I don't really feel like feeding the void or lion for finger stacks was really the play especially while my supports arent helping. Is she right? Was there something else I should have done here?

I 27M went on a 4th date with a 31F and it went better than expected. We ended up getting brunch in my neighborhood after she expressed interest in checking out a place near me. We got brunch and talked. She actually paid for the meal, which was surprising but refreshing.
She expressed interest in watching a movie with with me after. I was like cool and we ended up walking to my place. One thing led to another and after some hours of foreplay, we had sex. We basically cuddled for 7-8 hours while watching movies also.
At this point, I know what I want. I want her to be my girlfriend. I made it clear when we were cuddling that the "ball is in your court" and that she has the power in this situation, because I already know that I want to pursue her.
She said she liked me and that she was happy to be with me that day. She eventually that night had to leave to literally feed her cat for the evening but we kissed goodbye and expressed interest in seeing each other again, with her saying "I will see you soon."
I don't know how to text her about a potential 5th date, but I told her I am available whenever I'm not working and would make time for her. I am thinking about giving her some space and text her scarcely until we figure out the 5th date. Is this the right approach?

As I backpacked through Amsterdam, the city's vibrant culture captivated me. I visited notorious weed coffee shops, where locals and tourists indulged in their cannabis delights. With my taste buds excited, I tried various types of cuisine, often stopping at small street-side cafes for a quick snack.
But among all the sights and sounds, one stood out: a beautiful girl, who I saw across the street. I couldn't take my eyes off her as she walked gracefully, her long hair swaying in the wind.
As luck would have it, we ended up at the same coffee shop. She smiled at me as she ordered her drink, and I was instantly captivated. We got talking as we enjoyed our coffee, and I found out she was an artist, who had traveled from Spain to showcase her work in Amsterdam.
We spent the day exploring the city together, taking in the beautiful canals and visiting art galleries. As the sun began to set, we found a quiet spot near the canal and shared a joint, marveling at the beauty around us.
As the night drew to a close, we exchanged numbers and promised to keep in touch. I left Amsterdam with a lifetime of memories and a newfound appreciation for the city's culture and beauty. And of course, with the hope that someday I would see that beautiful girl across the street again.

this post is many things, a ramble, an AITA, and maybe even a reason to vent about a certain matter related to dnd that I feel is not talked about enough. I was even thinking of not writing this due to the fear of the people involved finding it. They are great friends and good people but this comes from a place of frustration. So if you know who you are... i am sorry
Now, the story
I was playing this DnD game with some online friends. We were a group of 4 (name changed for obvious reasons) Terenas: the DM and at the same time player in the campaign through dmpc Jess: player and DM's companion David: third player and friend Me: kinda the newbie but not really, played 4 session of DnD irl, then some stuff happened and I no longer played dnd up till this and a previous session (both online).
Before going any further here are two important pieces of information; Jess is also a DM, I could say that he is almost a forever DM who here and there gets the chance to be a player and that he does LARPing ( this will be important later)
We were playing this online game, the story of it is not important to this post. We had been doing it every week since September in a private discord server. The DM would DM and the players would play. With the holidays approaching, we all decided to take some rest, just a couple of weeks to enjoy the holidays and prepare for the new year; in session, we had left right when we were supposed to get ready for the juicy stuff, so I was pretty hyped about it.
Unfortunately, the new session never came, first, after the new year the dm got sick. I thought that was fine, stuff like this always happens. The worst came the following week, the day of the session Jess comes in chat saying ''yeah I got asked to DM a campaign while this was on hiatus so I got too busy with dnd and DMing and I can no longer take part in this campaign'' All i could muster at the time was a ''Oh, ok'' but i feel like i should have said more or at least shown a bit more of anger toward them
A small side note: Jess had said a few times that they were uncertain in continuing being part of the campaign due to having so much dnd stuff to manage
Basically during a LARP the previous week Jess had met some people and after talking with them he offered to be a DM for their games. It's understandable, kinda, you're known as the DM guy, so people will come ask you to DM totally normal behavior (I think, honestly I dunno)
BTW DID I MENTION THAT JESS WAS RUNNING 2 CAMPAIGNS AND PLAYING IN OURS MAKING THIS HIS FOURTH ACTIVE ONE PER WEEK?
With that out of the way, both Terence and Jess decided that the best thing to do was to put the campaign on hiatus till further notice I messaged Terence after the fact saying that I was still bummend out by the whole ordeal and that Jess should have checked their priorities and not said yes to the others Terence agreed with me they told me about their other active campaign (this is were I learned how many they were ) and how David the third player was in one of them. Making me the only person at loss in this scenario, not having a dnd session.
In that moment, reading that I said ''so basically I got benched'' Terence felt hurt by this but honestly, it came from a place of frustration as I said. I apologized immediately since I knew it was not a nice thing and they had no fault in it
and then life went on

It has been 3 months and I recently asked the DM for an update about a possible continuation of the campaign. They sadly said we will have to wait for cause besides the still running campaigns, now there are some family matters that will keep Jess occupied for the next few months This means that it probably won't continue. Dead in the water.
I have been writing my own Homebrew game in the meantime, a part of me feels to not invite Jess out of pettiness and possible lack of commitment due to his role as DM. But I know it would be petty and make me look like a douche which is the last thing I want (although the desire to send a message is strong NGL)
So, AITA?
and what would you do if your dm or players decided to drop you due to having joined another campaign before the current one even finished it ( mind you, they never showed lack of interest in it and were pretty invested)
A bit of extra to explain some stuff and possible questions Why don't you do it irl -my ILR experiences both as a player and as a DM were not great, to the point that I don't feel comfortable at doing them also I don't do well when other people look at me, the idea of a discord VC helps me a lot. Also, some serious issues and the pandemic killed every single friendship I had in real life Why don't you go for a LFG and local game store -I don't like playing dnd with strangers, I prefer playing this type of stuff with friends due to a matter of trust issues and the fear of running in not-so-good people. Terence was really understanding with me

Mostly lighter indie games and fighting games, some of the trendy multiplayer games that come and go (among us, fall guys, multiversus, knockout city etc). In terms of heavier stuff valorant and souls games, not too picky in graphic settings, medium is fine for me,would like to be able to discord stream at 720p though.

Would like to keep it within $600-700 cad range but willing to go over if necessary, first time building so I have no idea what kind of prices would be reasonable

I was wondering how to get FUSE to work on TrueNAS Core 13. I am trying to use rsync to mount two cloud storage providers as a 'union', but it gives me an error when I try to mount it because it seems there is no FUSE.

Asking this cause I want to get the fashion project suit, but idk if I want to spend on it now with the current recharge running, especially since I’m not participating in the current Melody event so the extra pull rewards from the recharge tiers don’t really mean much to me 🙃 of course we don’t know the dev schedule, this is more like just some speculation

Hi all, long-ish post but I need advice. I am a W2 employee whos company is requesting I fill a W9 in regards to equity and stock payout in the near future. Is this correct for them to ask of me?
One more question- this company was just bought out by another company via stock and cash. Our stocks were immediately vested. The company is now offering to pay us out our stocks based on time served in the company- they’re offering me less than $1 per share (we were bought out at around 4.25/share). In my contract nothing was mentioned in regards to the company eating my stock options, but there is talk about vesting 25% and then vesting the rest over a longer period of time. I feel like I should be getting a pay out closer to the 4$ share we were bought out at. Is that wrong?

I'm in the process of selecting an Outback. We will be driving from Maryland to western Maine (11 hrs) several times a year. I come from VW turbos, am pretty short and like a wagon, so I have finally settled on the Wilderness trim and have a couple of questions. I hope someone here can help guide me through my options.
My questions are about the additional package offered for the Wilderness trim. I'm not a big fan of roofs, sun or moon, since they can leak. My vw mechanic has always advised me against them. I often carry a kayak or a Thule box on top and it's really noisy with the roof open. What's your feeling about them?
I was also wondering what the deal is with the Starlink navigation system. As a rule, I do not pay for extra subscriptions, but I assume I will still be able to use CarPlay?
Lastly, do you have and like the RAB-Reverse Assist Braking? Do I need it? It does seem very nice, especially with a packed car. This is really the only extra I wanted to begin with and I'm sad that it isn't offered separately.

I wanted to start a series of threads opening up discussion for each of the non-unique advanced classes.
Some things to consider: how useful is the class overall? Which units have specific synergies with class? How does the class fit into a team overall?
To start things off with something hot: The Warrior
Type: Backup
Proficiencies: Axe A Bow C
Growths: 25 20 10 15 10 5 0 5
Skill: Merciless- Unit deals +50% damage to broken foes
IMO the warrior is in a really good position. It has a lot going for it- Backup classes in general provide a lot of synergy and flexibility, and the Warrior has the unique ability to use Longbows to provide 3 range chain attacks. This makes it an excellent class to put a low-investment filler unit into.
Merciless is also a pretty strong skill I’ve found to be at least situationally usefully at cracking late-game warriors and berserkers which are hard to one-round, as well an being an excellent boss killing skill.
Because it’s easy to get a decent amount of mileage out of even an under-invested unit using the Longbow+backup combo, nearly every physically-statted unit can do well as a warrior. In particular though Fogado is a standout. The class fixes his innate str problems and his decent magic stat and extra bow proficiency makes him a very good Radiant bow user. Etie also likes being a warrior- the class takes her STR to crazy places. Panette also likes being a warrior for the skill.
The warrior doesn’t have a lot of flaws, but as always it does face competition from the Hero in terms of being the best chain attack enabler. In many ways, I feel like the Warrior, Hero, Halbredier, and Swordsmaster (though it has its own issues we will get to) are all designed to work in tandem with one another to create a frontline mosh-pit

I’m finally going to meet my husband’s grandparents (in person, we’ve done video calls) and I am so anxious. My husband is a good looking man, and I’m… well I’m plain. I’m also a large lady. His grandma has made a comment before that “it’s okay that I’m bigger, since he still loves me.” I guess I’m just really nervous since they’ll be staying with us for 2 weeks and I don’t want to embarrass myself by eating. Any advice on just allowing myself to exist in the space we’ve created for ourselves?

CRYING. PAIN. DARK DARK DEPRESSION. It is really scary. I feel like I am a dark hole and then come out with 200 unopened text messages... so I go on my apology tour and apologize to everyone that it was just my PMDD... it's exhausting.

My Psychiatrist...who I really dislike as a human, regardless of his knowledge... told me I should take an antidepressant only when I need to for PMDD... and I really don't like that idea. I am really sensitive to medication and already think my adderal impacts me enough as is. Would a cocktail with an antidepressant only dull me down even more? I already feel like my personality has literally been stripped of me.

Also when did y'all's PMDD even begin? like as you near closer to your thirties I swear the hormone scale tips further to the right and left every time and this only started happening last year.
