2023.05.30 16:38 DCopenchick Polyamory isn't a group activity
I find myself writing this a lot on this sub, so thought I would make a post about it.
If you aren't ready for your partner to have a full-on adult romantic/sexual relationship with someone that you aren't at all involved in, then you aren't ready to be polyamorous -- perhaps now, or perhaps ever.
But, but, but... I want everyone to be friends and hang out all the time and go to concerts and pet kittens and share recipes! You might get that. Or you might not. Your partner might fall in love with Jane, who lives 1500 miles away and it's much easier for your partner to travel to her because of her disability. Or, your partner might date Alex, a hardcore introvert who basically prefers hanging out with plants, and isn't interested in getting to know metas beyond a passing hello. Or maybe they date Sam, and it's awesome and everyone initially gets along, but then Sam has some mental health struggles and decides that he needs to take a step back from kitchen table polyamory for the foreseeable future.
Full-on romantic relationships means that your partner is going to go on vacation with their other partner(s). And introduce them to their friends. And spend a lot of time supporting them if they get a cancer diagnosis. They are going to have a whole autonomous life with this other person, that you might get updates about (Alex and I are going to California for the 3 day weekend!) but might not have a ton of insight into other than that.
Given the above realities of polyamory, it may not be for you. But, luckily, there are a ton of other types of ethical nonmonogamy. Swinging IS a group activity. Casual threesomes can rock, as long as everyone is upfront about what is going on. Hall passes where you are allowed to sleep with someone while you are traveling for work. And so on and so forth.
Polyamory requires a measure of autonomy that, if you are currently in a monogamous relationship, will change the very nature of your current relationship with your partner. Proceed accordingly.

2023.05.30 16:38 Windyo Summer '23 Release Notes - Abridged Edition
The Salesforce Discord Collective Presents: THE SUMMER 23 RELEASE NOTES - ABRIDGED This marks the 20th release of the ARN. What I'm saying is that next release should be good, because the ARN themselves will be able to drink independently.
CRITICAL STUFF
GENERAL STUFF
- You can now use either Third-party or Saleforce MFA when logging in via SSO, so your confused users can be even more confused as to what they're logging in to (yes I know it's for security).
- Einstein Search gets a few updates, the main one being the possibility to change Searchable Objects per Profile, which is pretty cool for personalization.
- Permissions continue to evolve towards PermSets, get OrgWide Email perms added and prepare the more complex but powerful perms future with better reporting, while PermSetGroups start invading Named Credentials (and assigning Credential Access directly has moved from the Credential to the Permission Set or Profile, which isn't documented properly but whatevs.)
- Messaging for In-App and Web continues its release frenzy with better pre-chat forms that also don't show if the user already answered it in a session and cross-subdomain/cross-device chat, voice-message support, and better button display. Still not completely at LiveAgent parity, but already has some things that make it better in a few context. Study potential migration paths already IMO.
- Einstein Bots get an API which I'm guessing is usable to integrate Bots with some LLM goodness, also get tons of minor updates yay ?.
- If you were abusing Inactive Picklist Values, you can't anymore, the 4000 cap is now firm and enforced
- Meetings can now be offered by email and from the Composer but I have not found if the Salesforce Meetings SKU is paid or just a marketing name...
- For GDPR compliance you can host a contact preference form directly on Salesforce which is available to everyone with no login.
- I rarely cover paid extensions, but seeing as CTI is always paid anyway: SF Voice gets internal calling, code-driven accept, hangup, and merging of calls (and support for custom LWC as a result), user-level setup checks to help users, extensions for pre-and post-call behavior, custom field data transfer... For me it blows the current competition out of the water unless you're comparing purely API-driven call centers.
- Dynamic Forms are available on Mobile in beta
- Custom Address Fields now suck less but the State/Country bullshit still exists.
- LEX Record Edit pages get an undo button per field, but it doesn't apply to Dynamic Forms, because why lower tech debt when you can have multiple teams working on the same piece of the UI at the same time ?
- The last few releases seem to clearly indicate that CPQ has been folded into Revenue Cloud and might be folded into the Vlocity CPQ at some point. If you're a customer, you might want to study how to migrate. This is speculation and not backed by any insider knowledge.
- Quotes Can be created with no account or Opportunity but need an account to be converted to Order. I'm not sure I understand why breaking basic CRM dependencies is good but why not.
FLOWS
DEVELOPMENT
- It's a Release Update, but Apex RESTResponse must now be RFC 7230 Compliant, you probably need to check the ones you emit.
- Sets are Iterable now (sometimes)
- Fetch Labels Dynamically at runtime
- Better control over Queuables in both depth and max runtime
- New Komaci tool ensures code can be used in offline environments, combined with Offline Test Harness seems to indicate SF investment in Offline Apps, probably Mobile (requires Mobile App Plus, paid, lol).
- LWS, Light DOM, RefreshView are GA.
- Minor note, but Salesforce is slowly finalizing its internal LWC migration which you can read up more on here
- DOM Changes Volume 2, CSS Super style referencing change how stuff displays
- scoped and dynamic slots out of the casino
- UTAM Browser Extension to ease your Selenium Script writings
- You can now check SPF and DKIM in email Services
- Named Credentials can now be created via the ConnectApi, so maybe you could, using a username and password, create a full SFDX pipeline using JWT using it ?
- RIP OAuth Username-Password Flow, you were insecure but you'll be missed by all the devs too lazy to setup JWT.
COMMERCE
- Both Commerce experiences get assistants (Setup and Troubleshooting), both of which ensure common setup issues aren't made.
- Connect REST gets SearchResults and ProductSuggestions APIs to allow customization of those features. Combined with Extensions, it seems the platform is trying to become less a "plug and play" and more of a "build-your-own" framework platform, with additional modules like Payments also being developed on the side.
DOGELAND
- :doge: At a time where contextualised information is sold as the BeSt ThINg EvER, Salesforce has decided calling your AE (we promise, they won't change 5 times a year) is the best way to collect customer feedback
that'll be ignored - Account Automated Fields are being retired with no previous deprecation notice, enhancing you
- Tab-Focused Dialogs join the legion of Release Updates that don't get Released, further enhancing your trust that stuff that gets published is totally something that's final and important.
- Some Very Requested Feature ! (**applies only to Unlimited Edition)
- :doge: 10 years later, Salutation joins LEX, thank Cthulu for the noise around inclusivity so they prioritized this
- :doge: Celebrate with us, the fact that in 2023 you now only have to run an unsigned .bat file after configuring ZuluJDK to install dataloader, a great upgrade over the 2012 "Just install it". Truly, a win for admins everywhere.
- :doge: Sales Planning takes a leaf out of Case Swarming's book and publishes the most vapid Release Note in a long while, ensuring no one can know wtf it is. Same for Service Catalog which looks like just some zombie feature from Work.com ?

2023.05.30 16:38 slayerabc Negotiating Equity
No amount of googling was able to give me guidance or clarity on this!
So I've posted before
Here and in short I'm on track for a nice (smaller) FATfire. Current thing is though, I've been doing well and was head hunted to join a small SaaS company in the energy space as a VP of sales. Within this month the founders want to sit down and discuss equity as part of my comp as I've shown value. Current comp is as follows $150k base, bonus roughly 30%-50% and the full benefits.
I've never gone into equity talks much less done it in a space where it's not as common i.e energy not tech space (equity isn't part of avg comp plan, only VP and above) and this company is still fairly small. Under 30 people W-2 and rest are contracted total roughly 100 people work here. I'm younger, and these founders took a shot on me and it's working so far.
So...what do I need to know/do/ask in order to make sure I'm getting a fair share for the value I've brought (upped sales about 50%, on track to 3x their sales from first coming in). They are VC backed and just got past series A working on series B. Owners sold their last company in 7 years at a value roughly $200 million in the SaaS space before. Anything guidance to this will help, thank you.

2023.05.30 16:38 UnderwaterUnderwrite Mortgage Underwriter looking to Pivot?
The hiring space for the mortgage industry is as bare as it gets. I’ve spoken directly with C Suite executives from various lenders in my area and it’s a virtual hiring freeze for anyone with an Underwriting background.
A bit about myself: I graduated from Brown University in 2016 where I obtained a degree in Business Economics. I got into the mortgage industry shortly out of college with mortgage lender’s recent college grad program. By the end of my first year with the company, I had been fast tracked into a Conventional Underwriting position and found myself working side by side with the sales teams in the Call Center with full credit authority. At my three year mark, I was sponsored for my DE, completing the required test cases without any defects in April of 2020. I also have experience with VA products and specialty loan products that include Non-QM, Non-prime, and Jumbo loans. My company started layoffs in the beginning of 2022 and my department was eventually dissolved in November. I was offered a severance, which I accepted.
I’ve applied to various finance, analyst, and credit roles trying to sell some of the transferable skills I have but haven’t had much luck. I chalked the first few months up to the holidays being a bad time to be applying for a job but since January I’ve gotten significantly more automated rejections or ghostings after (seemingly) successful interviews than my ego can handle.
Does anyone have any advice on where to go from here?

2023.05.30 16:38 H0w-1nt3r3st1ng Am I likely to find a cheaper deal than £240 for Izotope's Music Production Suite 5.2 crossgrade anytime soon?
Hi All, I'm interested in getting Izotope's Music Production Suite 5.2. I feel like an idiot for not having gotten it around the 80% off, sale point (which I think would have been £195, if the listed full price at the time was the £975 it is now).
I'm just wondering if anyone's aware of a better deal, or of any thoughts about the likelihood of it going as low as £195 again anytime soon, or if anyone's aware of it having ever been lower than £195 in the past?
I'm a Komplete 14 UCE owner, which includes Ozone 10 Standard, so I think that entitles me to £243.50 crossgrade/upgrade from NI, and also got Audiolens for free a bit ago, which seems to entitle me to £240 crossgrade from plugin-boutique (I've checked with them).

2023.05.30 16:38 Responsible_Abroad_7 Please help me make a choice on what to learn: Wordpress VS Angular / React
Ok so I'm a Web Developer and I live in Southern Italy
I've been always working with PHP and Laravel mostly, and have some basic experience both in Laravel, Wordpress and some JS framework like Angular / React
My current goal is to find a fully remote job that potentially allows me the freedom to relocate anywhere. Money is also a factor to consider if I want to live in a major city with a lot of possibilities and social circles to improve at my other hobbies and make great friendships.
Thus I'm undecided whether to learn one of the technologies I've listed in the title.
Personal evaluation of the pros for each:
+ Wordpress: I enjoy it, or at least I enjoy using page builders with the occasional tweak to insert custom Javascripts to modify the functionality of the already provided graphical contents and items. I know it's very bashed upon by programmers, but I wish to find a balance between a technology that I enjoy and one that requires programming knowledge and, at first glance, Wordpress inspires me.
+ Angular / React: There's a developer in my current company that can use it decently and can mentor me, also AFAIK it's more in demand from companies (and, compared to Wordpress which is more often used to make websites for clients as a freelancer, companies provide job stability)
Personal evaluation of the cons for each:
- Wordpress: I've noticed that it can become quite chaotic if you don't know what you're doing, especially with page builders. On the other hand, if I don't use page builders, I don't know how much I would enjoy using it
- Angular / React: Higher learning curve and harder to learn, since it's 100% coding. I might not enjoy it as much as Wordpress, and I fear that if my skill level is not high enough, my new job would be total hell
So guys, for those of you that are experienced and knowledgeable programmers, what is your best advice?

2023.05.30 16:36 xDictate Trip report - One week in Portugal
My wife and I took a trip to Portugal early December of 2022, and we had a really solid time. The food experiences were amazing and getting to take in so much old-world architecture was awe-inspiring.
Focus: Our main focus was lazy tourism and fine dining between Porto and Lisbon. We ended the trip with a 9 hour layover in Toronto, which we used to visit friends and some of our favorite Toronto spots.
Weather: The week was mostly sunny with some rain interspersed, and average temperatures seeming to be mid-teens. Toronto at the time was cold and snow-covered.
Accomodations: We ended up doing hotels as they were rather cheap.
Some photos below, along with some detailed notes of the packing list. Photos may be missing some things due to last minute substitutions, tried to note that.
Bag of choice: - Peak Design 30L Travel Bag - This thing felt like a black hole, and seemed to hold more than the size would indicate. This is heads above my old Bellroy Transit and I'm happy I made the switch.
Worn clothing: - Ministry of Supply Atlas Sweater - Not pictured, pictured is a Heattech Ultrawarm sweater I didn't take. Merino blend, soft, warm. All I could ask for. I surprisingly didn't use it much more than just the flight there, but I'm happy I had it on me.
- Ministry of Supply Composite Merino tee - The cut fits me well, anti-wrinkle, and surprising resistance to smells even with only being 15% merino. I got a good 2-3 wears out of this.
- Saxx Quest 2.0 Boxer Briefs - GOAT for travel, these things wear well, hand wash well, and dry overnight.
- Smartwool full cushion crew socks - Merino socks! They were warm and wore well! Smartwool tends to be realtively affordable when on sale, and they've held up very well.
- Lululemon ABC pants skinny - Warpstreme fabric is lovely and in black looks like a pretty standard pair of pants. This is actually the only pants I wore the whole trip.
- Pontos The Pacific shoe - These have been awesome. Very comfortable to walk in, and they dress up or down really nicely. These did cobblestone, grass, rocks, sand, snow, rain, etc, and they looked great doing it. I found I needed to pull the insoles end of the day, but by morning they were dry and fresh again.
- Arcade Midnighter belt - Not pictured. Stretchy black belt!
Packed clothing: - Seagale Action Merino Tee (2) - black tees, easy care, love the fit. They hand wash really well if necessary, but I got 3 wears out of these easily. Having this tee on for the 24+ hours of travel on the leg home was a godsend, great moisture management and incredibly soft.
- Ministry of Supply Composite Merino tee - Grey. The cut fits me well, anti-wrinkle, and surprising resistance to smells even with only being 15% merino. I got a good 2-3 wears out of this.
- Ministry of Supply Apollo Raglan Sleeve Sport Shirt - Basically a button down. This thing fits awesome and doesn’t wrinkle. Standard sleeves would be better but this dresses up well enough - I wore this out to 6 different restaurants in Portugal, and even gave it a whole day as a layer over a tee, and it was very comfortable and performant. No need to wash between wears with a tee under it.
- Ministry of Supply Pace Chinos - I didn't actually wear these, the ABCs were plenty enough for the trip.
- Lululemon T.H.E. Shorts 7” - We didn’t have access to any pools or spas while there, so these were dead weight. Considering they weigh almost nothing though, not a big loss.
- Saxx Quest 2.0 Boxer Briefs (3) - 1 black, 2 grey. I’ve had these for a while and they’re probably still my favorite style from Saxx. They hand wash and dry well, and they’re comfortable. All I can ask for. I washed each pair once over the trip, and they dried overnight.
- Uniqlo Airism Boxers (2) - Sleep shorts. Hand washed once each, and they dried overnight.
- Smartwool Full Cushion Crew Socks (2) - Merino socks! What’s more to say. Smartwool is affordable while on sale and has some great durability. I’ve been happy with my pairs so far. I washed each pair once over the trip, and they really just needed a one day dry. I think the number of socks packed was pretty ideal.
- Smartwool No Show Socks - I didn’t need or use these, but having the emergency socks was a nice include. They’re small and didn’t really add any weight.
Outer Layers: - Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket - Wind proof, water resistant, very insulating. Packs down rather small. I’ve moved to synthetic insulation as it keeps warm when wet unlike down jackets. This held up well to a bit of rain while we were there and kept me warm enough most days.
- Patagonia Torrentshell 3L - Water proof. Wind proof. A bit crinkly, and didn’t really get a lot of use in Portugal due to the lack of heavy rain. Also being waterproof it tends to keep heat in just as well as it keeps water out, so combined with the nano puff it offered pretty good insulation for Toronto.
- Smartwool Glove Liners - Just some basic gloves. They work with touch screens, that’s cool I guess! Solid for Toronto.
- Merino Buff - Part neck gaiter, part sleep mask for the flight. It was awesome to have. On tour buses with an open roof it was very nice to have a bit of insulation I could throw into a sling.
Electronics: - Tom Bihn Ghost Whale Small - This contains my charging and camera connectivity kit, and it’s a tight squeeze but everything fits.
- Mophie 6000mah universal PD battery - Not the smallest or lightest battery, but it supports lightning input, and also does passthrough charging, which makes it the centerpiece for my tiny charging empire.
- Apple SD card readers - These just work, and they work well. Both Lightning and USB-C. Once the iPhone goes to USB-C I can drop the Lightning one. Let’s me ingest RAW files onto any of my devices. I didn’t need the Lightning one, but it’s just a standard in the bag now, so along it came.
- Anker Powerport III Nano 30W - Super slim, 30w charging. It’s been a standard for me for a while.
- Anker Cables - 3ft USB-C to Lightning and 3ft USB-C to USB-C. Covers all my device charging needs.
- Fujifilm X100V - Killer camera, compact, fun to shoot with.
- Tom Bihn Utility Cloth - It’s a wool square! It’s moonlighting as a camera wrap here, but it can be anything! Neck gaiter? Check. Very small blanket? Check. Table cloth? You bet. The options are limitless for the wool square! This was actually an MVP - The tiny blanket feature came in handy on tour buses, and it worked great for wiping down wet seats on a boat tour.
- Keys - Featuring an Airtag, and the final member of the charging gang, an InchargeX. I’ve also got a Nite Ize Doohickey on there for bottles and boxes. The Doohickey is awesome as it passes through airport security without issues and does a good enough job of what it’s designed to do.
- Airpods Pro - Basically perfect headphones for short stints. Reasonable battery life, great noise cancelling, agreeable sound quality. Overall solid.
- Destination Specific adapters (2) - Two is one and one is none, or something like that.
- iPad Mini 6 - Used for editing photos, reading on the plane, larger view for maps, etc.
- iPhone 12 - Works well with everything else I own. I grabbed an eSIM from Airalo on MEO, giving me 30gb of data for 15 days.
- Sony WH-1000XM4 - Not pictured. These were great for the 6-8 hour transatlantic flights. A last minute pick but I’m glad they made it into the bag.
A quick note on my charging setup: The whole setup for charging with my InchargeX allows me to charge two devices overnight AND my battery off a single 30w slim wall adapter. This is about as close as I can get to a perfect tiny charging setup. The iPhone plus the battery is plenty enough to get me through even the heaviest of days, into a second day. Toiletries: - Exfoliating cloth - Nylon textured cloth that’s basically an unravelled loofah. So easy to get a lather and you feel a lot cleaner after a good exfoliating scrub. I use one of these at home now too. I’d like to find a face cloth sized one for travel.
- Unscented Company Shampoo bar and soap bar - Stored in Matador soap cases. These lather really well, clean great, and support my “all solids” agenda for travel. They work great for cleaning clothes too. I’ve been using these at home instead of liquids, and can’t complain. We were never without toiletries due to the hotels, but I prefer these.
- Philips One Toothbrush - Next time I’d probably just get a cover for the head as I think the case was a bit large. I liked having the electric function though.
- Various OTC meds - Stored in Nalgene containers, these little things are waterproof and well built.
- Lush Dirty Toothy Tabs - Toothpaste replacement and my go-to for a while. Enough for both myself and my wife.
- Hair Bands - Two is one and one is none, or something like that.
- Xiaomi Mijia S100 shaver - New to me, picked it over a Philips OneBlade. Dual rotary shaver, compact, USB-C charging. I don’t get a lot of facial hair growth but I get enough that I like touching up every couple days. This did the trick. Might try to go back to a manual razor like a mach 3.
- Native Deodorant - Been my go-to for a while. I can’t seem to find a travel size in Canada, but this would be a huge space saver if I could. I may consider melting it down and re-packing it as some enterprising individuals on the internet have before me.
- Folding brush - I’ve had this for ages, and it’s been awesome.
Everything else: - Bellroy Lite Sling - Very flexible in load out, the 7L size made for a very good holding capacity to size ratio. This functioned as my camera bag and held essentials when transiting through airports or while on trains.
- Tom Bihn Ghost Whale Super Mini - Bag of holding for…
- Ray-Ban Folding Wayfarers - Matte black, high quality, compact. Non-polarized. Perfect fit in the ghost whale and always with me for sunny days. These were great for the trip as we had a lot of sunny days.
- Apple Magsafe Wallet - Not much to say here, standard 3 card carry - ID, debit card, credit card.
- Vapur Eclipse bottle - Didn’t actually use this, but fit in one of the mesh side pouches in my Peak Design bag handily.
- PackTowl Large - Came in handy when we were short a few towels in the hotel the first day in Porto.
- KN95 Masks (3) - Black, used on the airplanes. We didn’t get sick on the trip!
- Matador Packable Tote - Was useful for day excursions, shopping, etc. 18L packs down into a very compact size and it’s a robust bag.
- Passport - Well this is kinda needed for international travel. I also had my Presto (Toronto transit payment card) and alternate credit card in here as a just in case.
What Worked: Overall I think my packing list is cohesive enough and walked the line between casual and nice enough for a good restaurant. I've been working with a lot of this clothing for a while so it's been tested heavily through the rigors of daily wear, and I was very confident in my choices going in. The massive standout was the wool utility cloth - I think more people need these!
What could have been improved: I overpacked on a few things like pants and shorts, which really are just small things. The Pontos were awesome for the trip, but I feel like I would have done better with a pair of Blundstones or a similar Chelsea style boot. I also wish I could find a more casual looking "technical" jacket for daily wear, but the options are limited from what I can find. I think I could have dropped the iPad too, although it didn't take up a whole lot of space and was great for editing photos in downtime or reading on the plane. The Mijia shaver was okay but not amazing.

2023.05.30 16:36 Kanajin Looking for a few quality RPers to start a gang with
I am looking to start a gang, but want to make sure our quality of RP is top tier. I don't want to recycle people currently in the community or steal from existing gangs so I thought I would post here.
The theme of the gang is going to be hillbillies/rednecks. Right now the names we are looking at would be the Billy Boys or Y'allQaeda.
We would hold down a compound in the north of the map. Drive big trucks and essentially be a satirical expression of southern american culture. We want to RP out being simple, so it won't be some criminal mastermind expression trying to run the criminal underworld, just good ol' boys robbing stuff and jumping bridges to get away. If you are interested and feel like you would be a good fit feel free to respond here or in a DM. Thanks for reading!

2023.05.30 16:33 Responsible_Abroad_7 What to learn: Wordpress VS Angular / React
Personal evaluation of the pros for each: + Wordpress: I enjoy it, or at least I enjoy using page builders with the occasional tweak to insert custom Javascripts to modify the functionality of the already provided graphical contents and items. + Angular / React: There's a developer in my current company that can use it decently and can mentor me, also AFAIK it's more in demand from companies (and, compared to Wordpress which is more often used to make websites for clients as a freelancer, companies provide job stability)
Personal evaluation of the cons for each: - Wordpress: I've noticed that it can become quite chaotic if you don't know what you're doing, especially with page builders. On the other hand, if I don't use page builders, I don't know how much I would enjoy using it - Angular / React: Higher learning curve and harder to learn, since it's 100% coding. I might not enjoy it as much as Wordpress, and I fear that if my skill level is not high enough, my new job would be total hell
So guys, for those of you that are experienced and knowledgeable programmers, what is your best advice?

Want to keep my 2014 Lexus IS350 with 150,000 miles on it when we moved to California given that gas prices are so high. I don’t owe anything on it and maintenance has been minimal. Or do I want to trade it in for a used Tesla model 90 D

2023.05.30 16:33 Narwhals4Lyf 8 Days in Bay Area / NoCal
Thought I would do a trip report for once! I traveled to NoCal area from May 7th to May 15th. I live in America (Pittsburgh) and have not been to the West Coast other than when I was a preteen, so I decided it was time to go explore. I am 26F for context.
May 6th - Flew into JFK, my flight was delayed on the tarmac in Pit, and I only had a 1.5 hour layover. I managed to make my second flight as the doors were closing. PHEWF. Landed in SF around 12:30. I had left my apartment at 2:30 AM EST so I already had been traveling for 12 hours at that point LOL. I then picked up my rental car, drove another 4 hours towards Yosemite. Stopped along the way and did some hikes and site seeing. Got to my airbnb, got dinner and just had a campfire that night. My airbnb was in the Sierra National Forest. It was just beautiful there!
Day 2 : Spent time exploring local hikes in the area. I was near Oakhurst/North Forks. Went to Bass Lake. Went back to my airbnb (which was a cute AF airstream camper) and grilled for dinner and read a book. Very relaxing day.
Day 2 : Went to San Joaquin recreation area and did a hike there. Saw so many wildflowers... like 20 different types. And so many cows. Very little people on the trails, it was beautiful! The river was raging.
Day 3: Yosemite day! It was about a 1 hour drive to the gate, then another hour drive to the Valley. Left around 6am, was at the Valley by 9 AM (stopping and taking my time getting there once again LOL). Got some coffee at the cafe, and then set off for hiking. I did the lower Yosemite Falls trail and the upper Yosemite falls trail. Was a super steep hike, there was still snow on the trail! Yosemite was just gorgeous. I seemingly got lucky as well, because the park was closed the week before, and the weather was calling for it to be 30 degrees, but it was 50. The park was not crowded AT ALL when I was there.
Day 4 : Another travel day! Hit up a few wineries on my drive back towards SF and got to Pacifica around 5ish? Got dinner at the beach taco bell (had to, it is so iconic) and watched the sunset (glad I did, it was the only sunset that wasn't foggy!!!)
Day 5: Decided to roadtrip down to Big Sur and stop along the way! Stopped in Half Moon Bay, did some walking and shopping, stopped along the coast multiple times to site see, hung out near Bixby Bridge for a bit, turned around and met up with an old friend in Santa Cruz and had dinner on the beach and watched the sunset with her!
Day 6 : Tried to go see the Golden Gate Bridge at Bakers Beach but it was foggy af, so I just walked on the beach and people watched for like 45 mins, then took off towards Muir Woods. I stopped at the Golden Gate Bridge view as it was not foggy across the bridge, and got to see it! Then I drove up to Muir Woods to see the redwoods! Hiked around for a bit, but my knee was bothering me a bit that day, so I didn't do any long hikes. More just sketched and took pictures on my polaroid.
Day 7: Time to go into SF Proper. I parked at a BART Station, took the BART in, got brunch at a super cute place near the BART stop, and used MUNI for the rest of the day. I went to DeYoung Museum after, which was amazing. Loved both of their special exhibits. There was a public concert going on, so I hung out there for a bit and watched. Then I went to the Japanese Tea Gardens. Very cute in there. Lots of blooming flowers and plants. After, walked through Golden Gate park to Haigh-Ashbury and did some windowshopping at vintage stores, and came across a local artist market. Went and saw the Painted ladies. Took a bus to dinner, and headed out after that as it was 7pm and I wanted to get back to my car before dark!
Day 8: Travel day! My flight wasn't until noon, so I hung out on the beach in the morning and watched the surfers. Traveled home, no delayed flights. Got in around 1/2am to Pittsburgh.
Overall, it was a great trip! I was very impressed by California, it was just beautiful. I never felt unsafe, as many people warned me that SF was "gross, unsafe, dirty". I didn't share those sentiments at all. It is upsetting to see poverty and income discrepancy, for sure, but I did not have any negative experiences regarding that. It was cold, but I was expecting the weather. I honestly overpacked warm cloths, as Yosemite was calling for 30ish weather, but it ended up being 50!
Very happy I chose this area as my first Cali experience!
