Quality of life In DC

2023.03.21 21:39 Ark-Haus Quality of life In DC

Hey everyone, this is broad, but long story short, looking to move to DC in the next couple years for quality of life. Slower, more deliberate, more quality time with family. My questions, if anyone has input (greatly appreciated!):
  1. How does it look near and far term as far as development? Is the county taking the right steps to develop (inevitable) while keeping the charm and access to environment?
  2. How is the political climate?
  3. How hard is it to integrate with the local community if we are actively involved? Is the community aspect strong in general?
  4. Land and housing seems to be at a premium. That's one hurdle that definitely has to be cleared.
Thank you all!

2023.03.21 20:38 rebeccadevin Renters Parking Dispute

Ventura County, CA
I apologize in advanced for the wall of text. I tried to keep it short and failed.
Background info: According to our lease, which is still active, we are assigned two parking spots that we pay $50/mo for each. Parking spots are not assigned based on where you live in the complex, they're random and don't make sense. We were assigned: -Spot #172 which is located in front of our building and -Spot #293 which 3 buildings over.
There is zero guest parking and all parking spots are reserved/assigned. The management was not helping anyone resolve issues and they've all been fired and new management has been brought in this past month.
After speaking with a neighbor, who lives on the other side of the complex, but has been assigned a parking spot #173 in front of our building, she advised me of the new management and that they were fixing the parking issues. She was able to be assigned a new spot, in front of her building.
I reached out to management and discussed the possibility of getting assigned a closer spot and the talk seemed to go well, we agreed on us keeping spot #172 and #173, and removing spot #293. I was sent an addendum to sign, after reading it I decided not to sign it because the parking spots that were listed, we're not the parking spots that we discussed and they were located where even farther away (spot #333 and #323) This was not something I was going to agree to, I wanted a shorter walk, not a longer one so I did not sign the addendum and thought that I'd ask again the next time that I saw neighbors moving out.
On Friday, we noticed a car in our spot #172, after reaching out to the management company, we were told that the spot was reassigned to a new tenant and there was nothing that could be done about it. When I asked how they were able to amend our lease without our written consent, they couldn't give me any answers. I'm currently waiting to be contacted by a manager to further discuss this.
The parking spots are still in my lease. The addendum was never signed by me, it was never approved.
Do I have any options for recouping my parking spot? Or does management have the right to amend the lease on a whim?

2023.03.21 19:29 FancyFireDrake Can I help someone with a Far Cry 5 Jump?

Okay so odd title for a post probably but let me explain.
A while ago I had a BLAST doing a Far Cry Dual Jump Project with u/Astrangeplaytomake
Doing the Far Cry 4 Jump was just a blast, probably also in part because I simply adored 4 and still do. A while after this challenge though, as fate would have it, I ended up getting my hands on both Far Cry 6 and 5 (the later free through the game pass). I ended up playing both and gotta say I love 6. Not 4 but close. I am tempted to make a Jump for 6 and Yara after all at some point so heads up for that.
But 5?
Here is the thing. I just did NOT like Far Cry 5. Not going to get into details but this game was a let down for me (no offense if you like 5 more power to you). However on the other hand I still had a BUNCH of ideas for a Jump focused on it.
Now I do NOT want my bias to taint any Jump I were to make. Making a Jump from a place that is anything but appreciation for the source material is a bad place to begin with but active dislike can only end in disaster and for those that enjoyed 5 it is simply not fair. I dont want to risk making a Jump that is in poor taste you all deserve better.
But on the other hand, I actually have some ideas that could be made part of a Far Cry 5 Jump.
So my offer, can I help anyone that happens to have Far Cry 5 as a favorite game or anything? Or can we make a community effort of it? I already have some options that I feel like posting at least and the fact that I got them as ideas is the reason I am making this Post to begin with. though frankly even here I have the worry that some may be in poor taste or could at least be rephrased:
Perks
Divine Intervention (Free/500): So all of a sudden a nuclear apocalypse is happening even though you just got finished destroying the doomsday cult and everything you did is turned to shit? Fuck that! Besides its not like a mushroom cloud is hanging over Yara so clearly this isn’t how things HAD to play out every time. Basically this on the House Perk makes it so the global tensions wont escalate in a Nuclear War. In fact there wont be any Global Tension at all… well not more than usual at least.
If you pay for this Perk with 500 CP you also get something to keep with you on your chain specifically to protect you against such sudden twists. Whenever something happens you couldn’t have seen coming, someone in the Himalayas pressing a Button that launches bombs or the like, your chain wont end. Things will align in such a way to prevent the event or end with your survival. Your welcome.
Blissless (Free/300): With all the drugs and indoctrination going around you’d be forgiven for worrying about your mental state so let me help you out. Your mind is essentially a fortress, invulnerable to the mind bending effects of Bliss. You would still see the strange visions and hallucinations but any hope of it converting you is none. Same for any attempts to turn you into a sleeper agent. This is free for this Jump but costs 300 CP if you want to keep it.
Clutch Nixons Legacy (300): Clutch Nixon is one of the things the people of Hope County are the most proud of. Now you too can step into his footsteps, having an uncanny ability to perform crazy stunts in any vehicle, or lacking one even in a Wingsuit, alongside a truly marvelous driving skill in whatever vehicle you get behind.

Companions
Longinus (100): This born again warmonger is about to finish his atonement in the eyes of the Lord, having tracked down the last of Blood Diamonds… here of all places. He considered it strange how his shame brought him in the middle of the States… but realized once he saw what was happening here. Hope County is in the clutches of one who walks with the Devil. And as someone who walked with the Devil so long, he realizes that God gave him a chance at redemption. Fond of quoting the bible and wondering what Gun Jesus would use, he has plenty of Weaponry to bring against the Seed family.

Drawbacks
New Dawn (+300): No matter what you do, the Nukes will come to Hope County after all. You must find a way to survive the nuclear fallout, which will only be possible in one of the various Bunkers of Hope County. This nuclear war will not only devastate the World but extend your Jumping time to 10 years starting from the day Rush and his Security Captain come to this place. It should go without saying that this Drawback deactivates Divine Intervention.
Family Reunion (+300): Well… this just made things a whole lot worse. See a few weeks ago each of the different Heralds got a new ‘best warrior’. One that has been given the title Seraphim. Each of them is a peerless fighter and a beast that could take on entire armies. And for you? They might as well have Plot Armor each of them guaranteed to put up a worthy fight against you and none of your non Far Cry Perks work against them.
Who are they?
Previous Far Cry Protagonists.
Yep. See Hurk saw what the Cult was doing and called in his Tat Bros and as that was happening some mercenary returned to a safe house all the way from Africa. Somehow after each of them nearly decimated the cult by themselves, MAGAZINES of Bliss Bullets were shot at each of them and frankly insane amounts of luck later, Jackal, Jason and Ajay end up as the dreaded Seraphim.
The Jackal is John’s Seraphim, the entire Yes Ideology giving his blissed out mind some more hope after the horrors he endured. Jason is the Seraphim of Faith, who saw in him the Beast that slumbered and promised him a place where he could let go of his awakened anger… unless it was needed of course and she is to him a lot more honest than Citra. Ajay meanwhile is Jacob’s Seraphim. He used him first to get rid of a CIA Agent that was trying to find some tape and seeing the potential in the Kingslayer of Kyrat and how desperate he may be for a family, took him in. But deep down… none of them would condone cultists or mad man and some fraction of their collapsed psyche is still there ready to break out.
It IS possible to undo the effects on the various Far Cry Heroes. But take my word for it that it will be a difficult task, much more difficult than simply killing them. But if you do? Not only will they help you against the Cult, you can take them with you as a companion.

Scenario
Day of Reckoning (+300):
Joseph Seed hears voices. A voice claiming to be God. A voice that inspired him down this path of causing misery.
There is just one teeny tiny problem. That voice he hears it is from an otherworldly and powerful being.
But it’s the other guy.
Joseph Seed is led on by the Devil pretending to be his Lord and by selecting this Scenario you enter a World where such machinations wouldn’t simply end in Nuclear fire and destruction. It will instead be Hellfire and damnation. Joseph’s continued creation of suffering in the name of God is to be the catalyst for the Anti-Christs birth.
Once the Anti-Christ arrives, many members of Eden’s Gate will defect to them and their charisma, be branded with marks on the forehead. With Hope County surrounded by hellish flames it will only take a week before the Anti-christ decides to set out to the rest of the World. First Montana, then the States… than the whole World will burn.
It is up to you to stop this. The resistance of Hope County will be weakened immensely and Joseph himself broken by the revelation. Someone needs to step up and save the World.
The Anti-christ is no easy opponent however. Whatever lethal blow you may deal? It will heal miraculously as no simply earthly weapon can harm him and even should you possess weapons not from this Jump they will be vastly less effective than they should.
You must endure for six days at least. Six days in which Hope County will be impossible to escape and demons run rampant. Six days in which you also must ensure Joseph, now perhaps craving death, will survive. Why? You will see that on the seventh day.
On the seventh day of the invasion Joseph will gain an idea. How to get a weapon that could kill the Anti-Christ. Imitate the very crucifixion of Christ, and let something akin to the Spear of Longinus end a Martyrs life. Joseph himself will offer himself up for his task and will hope that the residents of Hope County will make him suffer so that someone can die with his and the peoples sins. Than you must do the killing blow.
Whatever weapon you use for it, be it a Gun or a Blade or even a Baseball Bat… at first nothing will happen but upon Joseph taking his final breath the weapon will glow and you will KNOW that it will work.
Using this weapon you must march upon the twisted place that once was Eden Gates Church and kill the Son of Satan with the weapon you made.
This wont be an easy fight, the Anti-Christ is guaranteed to be a difficult opponent for you, guaranteed to require all your skill. But manage this fight? You will be rewarded properly.
Reward: As a New Dawn breaks upon Hope County, the signs of the Apocalypse washed away, the damage healed and lives restored and mad man bested, you will see it all and see that it was good.
You will also see Your Spear maybe not literally but you still have the weapon that killed the Anti-Christ and it still possesses its strange properties. You can kill even the supposedly immortal with it and against the evil and vile it will be more effective than any other weapon.
Furthermore you gain the Perk Lion of Judah. You have become the natural bane of Demons and Evil and your majestic presence worthy of a Savior will make them cover and anything you do against them become more potent. And if you act like a Lamb and be good for goodness sake and to help your fellow men, you find yourself growing that bit stronger for it.
Finally you may take all of Hope County with you alongside its various people. Why this can even include people of the Cult. Even the recently deceased like Joseph Seed himself. How would he feel about coming back from the dead like the Son of God?

2023.03.21 18:52 nostone3241 The connection between Freemasonry, Indian residential schools, the Indian wars, the Indian removal act, the Indian act and the Indians-as-Israelites theory.

My name is Thomas Saul, I am a member of the Skatin Nations tribe in British Columbia, Canada. I am of Salish, and European descent. I began this project around May 2021 when news broke about the Kamloops residential school where the remains of 215 children were allegedly found. As a teenager I briefly Attended Norkam secondary in Kamloops, and have friends and family who still live in Kamloops, so this hit close to home. Upon my research into The origin of this residential school I found that Israel wood Powell, a Freemason, was the Indian Superintendent at the time it was built. Four generations of my family attended residential schools, some in Port Alberni and some Mission City, so naturally I wanted to know more. I have come to the conclusion that Colonisation, Freemasonry, and residential schools go hand in hand. Its a Fact, both the United States and Canada would not exist without Freemasonry, Therefore many Freemasons played a leading role in the genocide of Indigenous Americans. “Freemasonry, as it exists in various forms all over the world, has a membership estimated at around 6 million worldwide.”
Genocide: The UN definition, which is used in international law, states that genocide is: "any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group," as such:(a) "Killing members of the group;"(b) "Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;"(c) "Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;"(d) "Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;"(e) "Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."
The supreme governor of the Church of England is the head of the Church of England, a position which is vested in the British monarch. The father of the Royal Proclamation of 1763 King George III was not a Freemason, George III had announced that the colonies would no longer seize Native lands or purchase them without treaties. Starting in 1763, no English settlers could legally travel through or acquire land west of the Appalachian Mountains. The proclamation specifically stated that Native Americans had been subject to “great Frauds and Abuses” and that their sovereignty should be protected. Freemason Thomas Jefferson in his list of 27 grievances accused the king saying “He has excited domestic Insurrections among us, and has endeavoured to bring on the Inhabitants of our Frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known Rule of Warfare, is an undistinguished Destruction, of all Ages, Sexes, and Conditions.’’ Thomas Jefferson did this to build support for the revolutionary act that the Declaration of Independence would represent. It was suspected that the Freemasons were behind the Boston Tea Party, the American War of Independence, the french revolution, and Napoleonic France triggering British prime minister William Pitt’s, the Unlawful Societies Act of 1799 where he aimed to see Freemasonry abolished. Some Freemasons addressed Pitt explaining how vast their membership is and its connection to Royalty and As a result, Freemasons were excluded from the Act, but lodges were obliged to return a list of members to the local Clerk of the Peace every year, which are recorded in the Quarter Sessions.1. King George IV reigned from the death of George III until 1830, he was the first of many British Freemason kings and was the head of the Anglican church. William IV, Edward VII, Edward VIII, George VI were also masons. In the 209 years since the Union of the Premier and Ancient Grand Lodges to form the United Grand Lodge of England, a member of the Royal Family has been its Grand Master for more than 150.
A Freemason warrant of constitution is the Document which authorizes or gives a Warrant to certain persons therein named to organize and constitute a Lodge, Chapter, or other Masonic Body. The first Warrant for a military Lodge was issued by the Grand Lodge of Ireland in 1732 to the First British Foot Regiment. Within a few years the Grand Lodge of Scotland and both the Grand Lodge of England, Modern and Ancient were issuing Warrants to military Lodges. In 1733, 18 men gathered at the Bunch of Grapes Tavern on King Street in Boston and organized the first Masonic Lodge in North America. The first record of a military Lodge Warrant being issued in the new world happened during the French and Indian Wars. It was issued by the then Provincial Grand Master at Boston to the 28th British Foot in an expedition against the French at Crown Point. Edward Cornwallis became founder in December 1748, of a military Lodge in his regiment, the 20th. Foot, No. 63, on the registry of the Grand Lodge of Ireland. The warrant was issued to Lord George Sackville, Lieut. Col. The Hon. Edward Cornwallis and Captain Milburne. When in 1759 this famous regiment gained new honors at the battle of Minden, that name was immediately adopted as the name of the lodge. Cornwallis’ second lodge was founded in Halifax early in 1750 or possibly earlier, under a “deputation” or dispensation from Major Erasmus James Philipps of the 40th. Regiment at Annapolis Royal, Provincial Grand Master for Nova Scotia under Henry Price of Boston. Of this lodge, known as the First Lodge, Cornwallis was the first Master. Cornwallis In October 1749, issued an order that came to be known as the Scalping Proclamation. His government would pay a bounty to anyone who killed a Mi’kmaq adult or child in a bid to drive them off mainland Nova Scotia.
Sir William Johnson, an agent for the British Indian Department met Joseph Brant, a 9-year-old Mohawk boy while doing a land deal with Joseph's father King Hendrick. Sir William eventually started a common-law relationship with Joseph's sister Molly giving him incredible power over her tribe. Johnson groomed young Joseph Brant to become a loyal warrior and eventually leader of the six nations tribe. At 13 years old Joseph accompanied Johnson on his first tour with the military. Missionary Samuel Occham, a student of Eleazar Wheelock (father of The Great Awakening) procured a 19-year-old Joseph Brant to attend Moore's Indian charity school in Lebanon Connecticut with the blessings and charity of William Johnson. Freemasons Benjamin Franklin and Benedict Arnold had also donated money to Wheelock’s cause. William was the British Crown's first superintendent of Indian Affairs for the colony in 1756 and Joseph Brant was appointed as a captain in the Indian Department. Many Freemason colonists were high-ranking military who waged many wars on the Indigenous American population, scientists say so many Indigenous people were killed as a result of colonization it caused a mini ice age. After the North American wars, many Freemasons took positions as Indian agents helping to remove and segregate the native population. Anyone who wanted access to the six nations had to go through Indian agent Sir William Johnson and his family which includes the Brant family and the Kerr family through various marriages. At one point Johnson proposed that the moor's Indian Charity School move from Lebanon, Connecticut, to Johnstown but it never happened. Eventually, Johnson withdrew the support for Wheelock. In a letter Wheelock had suggested to Lord Dartmouth "The Nations will not make war with us while their Children, and especially the Children of their chiefs are with us” Dartmouth college claims that In 1766, Johnson was invited to join the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts (SPG), the largest and most influential Anglican missionary society in the 18th-century British-Atlantic world. He began working to place Anglican missionaries like Freemason and bishop Charles Inglis, rather than Congregationalist and Presbyterian ones, among the Six Nations. I believe Moore's dubbed “the great design” was the original model for the Mohawk Institute and the Canadian residential school system.
On April 10, 1766 Sir William Johnson was raised to the position of Master Mason of St Patrick's Lodge No. 4 where many Freemason Indian agents like John Butler, Guy Johnson, Sir John Johnson, William Johnson Kerr, Christian Daniel Claus, Gilbert Tice, George Croghan and A protégé of Reverend Eleazar Wheelock, Rev. Samuel Kirkland attended. In 1770 Johnson's fellow St Patrick's lodge Freemason Rev. Samuel Kirkland coincidentally parted ways with Wheelock and Moors charity school. Eventually Kirkland founded the Hamilton-Oneida Academy as a boys' school in central New York. In 1776 Joseph Brant was initiated into the Freemason fraternity in London England where it is rumoured a benefactor of Moors charity school king George III gave Brant his masonic apron. When Brant returned to Canada he became affiliated with Lodge No. 11 at the Mohawk village on the Grand River, of which he was the first Worshipful Master, and later affiliated with Barton Lodge No. 10. Joseph Brant invited fellow Freemason and grandson of Eleazar Wheelock to be a minister to the Mohawk. To Joseph It was imperative that Freemason Rev. Davenport Phelps was made minister of the Mohawks, so he reminded the Bishop, through Sir John, of the pledge which the Archbishop of Canterbury had made to him in the presence of the King, that whenever the Indians, by the erection of a church, should be ready for religious instruction, he would do all in his power to supply their wants. A Freemason named Rev. Robert Addison helped make this happen. Mr Addison, a relative of William Johnson, had been minister to the Six Nations and Joseph Brant and Freemason John Norton were his translators. Freemason Reverend Davenport Phelps and Jarvis Wheelock, the brother of Eleazar, were invited to Canada and granted land by Freemason and founder of the family compact John Graves Simcoe, the man behind the Simcoe patent. Mrs Simcoe in her Diary says, “In April of the following year Mary Brant (sister of Freemason Joseph Brant and common-law wife of Freemason Indian agent Sir William Johnson) successfully prescribed a favourite Indian remedy, the root of sweet flag (acorus calamus), for Governor Simcoe, who had been extremely ill with a persistent cough. The medicine relieved his malady “in a very short time. This brought the Brant family and Simcoe family close together. Davenport Phelps became the Worshipful Master of The Barton Lodge under Freemason William Jarvis and he was the first chaplain at the Mohawk Chapel. Davenport was the leader of many Indian agents who were members of The Barton Lodge. I suspect Davenport's mission was to help with the so-called Indian problem.
Chief Joseph Brant has been accused on many occasions of selling off land for his own enrichment and in a lot of cases he sold land to Freemasons. He granted 999-year leases to many families, the Nelles, the Young’s, the families of Adam Young UE, his three sons, Lieutenant John Young (Indian department) UE, Sergeant Daniel Young UE, and Private Henry Young UE, along with Captain Henry William Nelles UE and his families (Rev. Abraham Nelles). Many of these Indian agents were members of The Barton Lodge. Both Captain Henry William Nelles UE and Adam Young UE, fourth great-grandfather of Robert Collins McBride UE, were also the first Freemasons to settle in Haldimand County. Freemasons Robert Kerr and Rev. Robert Addison, William Kennedy Smith, also had land there. "There were very few outright legal sales of our land; 90 per cent of the leased land has never been paid for or paid to Six Nations," according to a research document prepared by Six Nations. Many Freemasons were involved with the Simcoe patent and the Haldimand Proclamation. Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoe stated that the Indians could not lease their land since British subjects could lease land only from British subjects. Freemason William Jarvis signed the Haldimand proclamation, Freemason Thomas Ridout surveyor-general was behind the Ridout survey, Freemason Sir Peregrine Maitland lieutenant governor informed them that they had no title to the northern part of the grant, Freemason John Butler acted as an agent of purchase on behalf of the government, Freemason chief John Brant) and Freemason Robert Johnson Kerr finally went to England to lobby on behalf of the Six Nations.
Freemasons King George IV, and King William IV, reigned from January 29 1820 to June 20 1837. The idea of residential school was brought forward by the Freemason Governor of Upper Canada, Sir Peregrine Maitland, within the context of a proposal he made in 1820 to the Colonial Office "for ameliorating the condition of the Indians in the neighbourhood of our settlements." Maitland's proposal contained most of the civilising concepts and techniques that would be adopted in the next three decades. The American Freemason, President Andrew Jackson succeeded in pushing the Indian Removal Act through the United States Congress in 1828 leading to the trail of tears. John Brant solicited help from the New England company to build the Mohawk institute, the first residential school in Canada. The mohawk institute operated from 1831 to June 27, 1970. John Brant appointed Rev. Abraham Nelles son of Freemason Robert Nelles as principal of the Mohawk Institute. Abraham after over 30 years was succeeded by Freemason Robert Ashton. Oronhyatekha aka Peter Martin was also a Freemason and played an important role in the development of the Mohawk Institute. The Arthur of the Historical sketch of the Barton Lodge, No. 6, G.R.C., A.F. and A.M., says “the name of Brother John Brant is connected with important events in the history of Canadian Masonry.” John Brant is responsible for the formation of at least 12 residential schools in Ontario, while Freemason Israel Powell the superintendent of Indian affairs in British Columbia Powell “was able to boast that the government had established seventeen Indian schools, one for each year in office.”. Powell sought to establish several boarding schools across the province and particularly pushed for creating a school in Kamloops to address communities in the province’s interior. The school opened in Kamloops in 1890 and became one of the largest residential schools operated by Indian Affairs. The Freemason Organisation is vicariously liable for all abuses in those residential schools.
In 1837 a Rebellion in Upper Canada was led by William Lyon Mackenzie, who was a fierce critic of Simcoe’s Family Compact, an elite clique of businessmen and many Freemasons. Mackenzie opposed a system of land grants that favored settlers from Britain. Many Freemasons such as William Botsford Jarvis and Sir Allen Napier Macnab who was Joint premier of the Province of Canada helped stop this rebellion. Sir Allen Macnab was succeeded by Freemason Sir John A. Macdonald as Joint Premier. This Rebellion of 1837, this triggered the 6th generation Freemason Lord Durham to write The Durham Report, he was appointed governor in chief of British North America. In his 1839 Report on the Affairs of British North America, he recommended that Upper and Lower Canada be united under a single Parliament, with responsible government. In 1863 a steamboat named the Brother Johnathan) carried smallpox from San Francisco to British Columbia killing 1/3rd of the Native population. Many Freemasons like Thomas Harris the first mayor of Victoria, Israel Wood Powell who served in the Victoria Rifle Volunteer Corps which was established to protect the colony from the indigenous population, Amor De Cosmos who was the extremely racist editor of The Daily British Colonist, and Ronald J. NcDonell clerk for magistrate Pemberton who forced The Nuu-chah-nulth to leave their camp, escorted by two gunboats. There are many many more who may have purposefully mishandled the smallpox epidemic of 1863. British freemason Edward Jenner created the life-saving smallpox vaccine but on the other hand Freemasons Jeffrey Amherst and Col Henry Bouquet have been accused of distributing smallpox contaminated blankets to their enemies.
As early as 1866 Israel W. Powell, with his colleague Amor De Cosmos, had proposed confederation with the Canadian colonies. Israel Wood Powell, Superintendent of Indian affairs also outlawed potlatching an indigenous ceremony In British Columbia. Following the Lord Durham’s report, Freemason Henry Howard Molyneux Herbert, 4th Earl of Carnarvon proposed The British North America Act, 1867 Under section 91(24) of the Constitution Act, 1867, the federal government has exclusive legislative authority for "Indians, and Lands reserved for the Indians." Of the 36 Fathers of the Canadian confederation, 11 were Freemasons. One being Freemason Sir John A. Macdonald, He was named by the United Grand Lodge of England as their Grand Representative near to the Grand Lodge of Canada. Sir John A. Macdonald took a page from American Freemason Andrew Jackson's book by removing the Indigenous people from their land. He was proud that he was able to subdue the Indigenous people with less blood shed than his American brethren. One Of Macdonald's Legacies is the Canadian Pacific Railway which displaced many tribes across Canada. Sir John A. Macdonald's campaign promise in the 1870s was that he would have a railway built that would link the country from coast to coast. Freemasons Richard Marpole, Sir Sandford Fleming, Sir George J.A. Bury And the Chinese Freemasons of Vancouver and Alberta made Macdonald’s promise come true. As quickly as the railroad was laid Freemason lodges were erected. Louis Riel a Métis hero, led two resistance movements against the Government of Canada and its Freemason Prime Minister, John A. Macdonald. Riel sought to defend Métis rights and identity. The Wolseley expedition was a military force authorized by Sir John A. Macdonald to confront Louis Riel and had been dispatched to Red River under Freemason Colonel Garnet Joseph Wolseley. Another of Mcdonald's legacies is the North West Mounted Police. Macdonald established the N.W.M.P in 1873 which boasted 750 Freemason members in its time. He claimed that “it was intended to have a body of mounted rifles to protect the people from the chance of an Indian war.’’ Meanwhile, The Pacific Scandal, the first major post-Confederation political scandal in Canada, Sir John Macdonald and senior members of his Conservative Cabinet were accused of accepting election funds for the contract to build the C.P rail.
The near completion of the railway allowed troops from eastern Canada to quickly arrive in the territory causing Riel to surrender to Canadian forces. The NWMP barracks was where Louis Riel was detained after his arrest in 1885 for leading the North-West Rebellion. Many Freemasons were involved in the defeat of Louis Riel. The RCMP museum had a display of the noose which hung Riel. Macdonald said this about Riel "He shall die though every dog in Quebec barks in his favor." John A. Macdonald is also one of the fathers of the Canadian Indian act First passed in 1876. In 1879 Freemason Nicholas Flood Davin wrote the Report on Industrial Schools for Indians and Half-Breeds, otherwise known as The Davin Report. An amendment to the Indian Act in 1894 under Freemason Prime Minister Sir Mackenzie Bowell, made attendance at day schools, industrial schools, or residential schools compulsory for First Nations children, resulting in over 100000 Indigenous children being forcefully removed from their families by Indian agents and the RCMP. From 1740 to 1896 The Mexican government's response to the various uprisings of the Yaqui tribe have been likened to genocide particularly under Freemason Porfirio Diaz. Due to slavery and massacre, the population of the Yaqui tribe in Mexico was reduced from 30,000 to 7,000 under Diaz's rule. One source estimates at least 20,000 out of these Yaquis were victims of state murders in Sonora. It was during this period of the conflict that the United States Army fought the last battle of the American Indian Wars, the final battle being the Wounded Knee Massacre December 29, 1890, and in the subsequent Drexel Mission Fight the next day. In recent history the statues of Freemason John A. Macdonald, Freemason Edward Cornwallis, Freemason George Washington, Freemason Lawrence Sullivan Ross, Freemason Robert E. Lee and Andrew Jackson have all been vandalized but no mention of their affiliation to the Freemasons in the news. We can't point fingers at the church or government without first confirming whether or not the accused are Freemasons. The Order of the Eastern Star, Job's Daughters, and Rainbow Girls are masonic fraternities for women such as the daughter, widow, wife, sister, or mother of a Master Mason. All masons will cry out that Freemasonry has nothing to do with what an individual member has done, yet they all praise these men and prop them up as heroes. Freemasons claim to have superior morality compared to the average person, that they are the most honorable men on the planet, yet they refuse to acknowledge their members role in the genocide of the Indigenous Americans.
You may believe Freemasons are irrelevant nowadays but that is far from true. Winston Churchill is regarded as one of the greatest wartime leaders of the 20th century. Churchill was initiated into Studholme Lodge No. 1591 on 24 May 1901. He said of the Pashtun people “all who resist will be killed without quarter,” Pashtun territory was occupied by the British in 1848 and divided into two areas. Winston Churchill's policies caused a famine that claimed more than 3 million Indian lives during the The Bengal famine of 1943. President Harry Truman, known as one of the most dedicated men to have joined Masonry on the morning of August 6, 1945, ordered an American B-29 bomber to drop two atomic bombs over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The two bombings killed between 129,000 and 226,000 people, most of whom were civilians. John Edgar Hoover, more commonly referred to as J. Edgar Hoover, was an American attorney and director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Hoover was raised on November 9th 1920 in Federal Lodge No. 1 in Washington D.C. In 1919 Hoover became the head of the Bureau of Investigation's (predecessor of the FBI) new General Intelligence Division. The division was also called the Radical Division because it was the task of the division to find radical elements in American society to monitor and disrupt their activities. The Duke of Kent was initiated as a Freemason in Royal Alpha Lodge No. 16 in London on 16 December 1963. The Duke of Kent, is now UGLE’s longest-serving Grand Master. The Duke’s brother, Prince Michael of Kent, is also a Freemason and is Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons, and Provincial Grand Master of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Middlesex. On 6 March 1953, HRH Prince Philip progressed to the Second Degree of Freemasonry, before advancing to the Third Degree on 4 May 1953.
I encourage those who have been affected by the actions of Freemasons to begin a class action lawsuit against this organization in what ever country, state or province you live in and hold Freemasonry accountable for genocide. The first thing a Freemason will say when presented with this evidence is you don't know how masonry operates, that the lodge is not responsible for individual members actions. That is exactly what the Catholic church said before the Canadian Court of Appeal on July 28, 2020 had found the Archdiocese vicariously liable for abuses committed by a civilian employee. I witnessed countless people stand up against the Catholic Church for what they have done and the Pope came to Canada and apologized. Now it's time to turn your sight toward Freemasonry. You must understand that all Freemasons on the American contenent have greatly benefited from the genocide of Indigenous Americans.

DELAWARE’S CHANCELLOR ANDRE BOUCHARD UP TO HIS USUAL, UNUSUAL TRICKS IN CHANCERY COURT?

04/29/2020 By Judson Bennett📷
OPINION
Dear friends,
I’ve been following Andre Bouchard’s rocky career since the day he took office as the new Chancellor in Delaware’s Court of Chancery, and I wrote about the way he handled the Sussex County Register of Wills Office in his first year, which I thought was abhorrent. I’ve been extra critical of him through the TransPerfect trial, which ended years ago, and somehow, court-payments linger and his old buddies at Skadden Arps are still collecting nearly six-figure monthly paychecks, thanks to Bouchard’s atrocious handling of the case.
I wonder which one of his friends could possibly get paid off this time because, in my opinion, the TransPerfect case has been milked for huge amounts of money for the benefit of Delaware’s Good-Ole-Boys Legal Club, aka friends of the Chancellor???
I’m seeing similar suspicious patterns in a new case covered by The Law360 story below, where he’s again being shortsighted, in my view, during a court-supervised sale, which sounds similar to me to the TransPerfect case. where he was, in my opinion, continually attempting to bully the sides into a settlement, rather than just doing his job as a judge.
The Law360 story, says it best, “Chancellor Bouchard, a veteran of epic — and unfinished — battles arising from the liquidation of TransPerfect Global Inc. after a falling-out between its founders.”
I would love to hear your thoughts on this one. In my opinion, this guy, who was never a judge before, somehow through his Democrat politics, getting the chief role at the Chancery Court, is not even learning on the job. Time for him to go!
Respectfully Yours,

Chancellor Rips Critics Of Pharma Sale As ‘Incredibly Naive’
By Jeff Montgomery
Share us on:
Law360 (April 20, 2020, 11:40 PM EDT) — Delaware’s chancellor branded some challenges to the court-supervised sale of drug developer Inspirion Delivery Sciences LLC as “astounding” and “incredibly naive” on Monday, noting that a court order had given a liquidating trustee broad latitude to complete the job.
The comments by Chancellor Andre G. Bouchard during a sale hearing teleconference followed arguments by Michael Yoder of Reid Collins & Tsai LLP that a new auction effort could have produced a better result than the offer of $4 million in cash and up to $10 million in future payments from OHEMO Life Sciences Inc. from royalties on anti-abuse opioid drug compounds.
Yoder, who represents former Inspirion members Raymond DiFalco and Manish Shah, argued that it made little sense for a trustee to “simply accept the first offer from a company insider,” referring to OHEMO, which has ties to IDS member Stefan Aigner.
Chancellor Bouchard, a veteran of epic — and unfinished — battles arising from the liquidation of TransPerfect Global Inc. after a falling-out between its founders, asked if Yoder had fully examined Delaware law and trustee discretion on the issue.
“I really find that astounding. You didn’t even address the standard of review in your papers,” the chancellor said. “I find equally astounding the notion that you didn’t think insiders would be able to bid. Do you know how most of these contests end? Typically somebody involved with the company buys the other side out.”
Yoder said he was not arguing that insiders could not participate, but said that his clients did not participate because they hoped for a successful sale to a third party and were unaware there were no third parties in the running until recently.
“That just demonstrates extraordinary naivety,” Chancellor Bouchard said. “It all seems so last-minute for your client to walk in here not prepared to do something, and I find it very hard to believe that if they wanted to make a bid, they couldn’t do it all along.”
Differences between Shah and DiFalco and member Aigner over approval and marketing of key anti-abuse drugs MorphaBond and RoxyBond hobbled the business, with Aigner attempting to remove DiFalco as president of IDS.
The court ordered a liquidation after a three-day trial in November 2018, although further disputes and market issues extended the process. The proposed winning bidder was OHEMO, based in Puerto Rico, a company championed by Aigner before the liquidation order as a replacement for the Shah and DiFalco-aligned production operation.
Cerovene Inc., controlled by Shah and DiFalco, made an offer valued at up to $15 million but missed a key deadline for the submission earlier this month, according to Donna L. Culver of Morris Nichols Arsht & Tunnell LLP, counsel to liquidating trustee Derek C. Abbott.
Culver said Cerovene argued that the COVID-19 crisis and a lack of wire transfer specifics kept the business from making a required bid deposit, but not until “literally minutes before deadline” did the prospective competing bidder “give any indication he could not comply with the deadline.”
Nothing prevented DiFalco and Shah from getting involved through Cerovene earlier, Culver said, adding that the sale opponents also had not shown how the trustee or process represented an abuse of discretion.
Peter B. Ladig of Bayard PA, counsel to Aigner, Acela Investments LLC and two other companies that hold Aigner’s interests in IDS, said the business already had worked through a several-month marketing process, with 81 potential buyers approached, before choosing to move ahead with OHEMO for lack of a better offer.
“This is not, as I think the objectors would have the court believe, a question of having an auction just between the two insiders,” Ladig said. “This was an auction process that ran for months, and it’s really the end of the second process.”
Ladig said nothing in the case record supported claims that Aigner maneuvered the trustee into setting the final, 48-hour window for receipt of a competing offer for the business.
Chancellor Bouchard said he would take the arguments under advisement.
Aigner is represented by Peter B. Ladig and Brett M. McCartney of Bayard PA.
Shah and DiFalco are represented by Carmella P. Keener of Cooch and Taylor PA and William T. Reid IV, Michael Yoder, Jordan L. Vimont and Ryan M. Goldstein of Reid Collins & Tsai LLP.
Liquidating trustee Derek C. Abbott is represented by Donna L. Culver of Morris Nichols Arsht & Tunnell LLP.
The case is Acela Investments LLC et al. v. Raymond DiFalco et al., case number 2018-0558, in the Court of Chancery of the State of Delaware.

2023.03.21 15:29 Sensitive-Cycle-3435 2004 McGuire Air Force Base UFO Incident

2004 McGuire Air Force Base UFO Incident
I was an active duty United States Air Force Airman, assigned to McGuire Air Force Base in Burlington County, New Jersey, in the early 2000s. I myself did not witness anything, but I worked directly with people involved in this incident, including my roommate, as well as my supervisor. On the night of April 6, 2004, at around 0130 the McGuire control tower spotted what they believed was a small plane coming in for a landing. This had actually happened in the past, small planes would get confused and accidentally land at McGuire instead of Cross Keys. Not a common thing, but with fatigue and flying at night it had happened. Relayed to me by someone in Air Traffic Control: as the "plane" approached the base, the tower contacted Security Forces, but the "plane" was not a plane at all, but instead it was a silver disk that did have some kind of external running lights. The tower observed this craft descend onto the western side of the flight line in front of the National Guard ramp. I was told this was seen by multiple Airmen with binoculars, and was possibly also seen/recorded on the security system.
At the time, the National Guard was on alert with their KC-135s, and there were approximately 15 maintenance Airmen working on aircraft who witnessed the silver disc land directly in front of them. As soon as the internal Security unit drove out to confront whatever it was, it shot up straight into the sky at a high rate of speed.
https://preview.redd.it/a3o33aukq3pa1.jpg?width=2288&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f23e97f8e67f4f0f386dfa73dc09074a0e488821
Of note: I was told that on the morning of the next day, someone claiming to be from MUFON showed up at the main gate asking for information on the incident. That same day, April 7, a team of OSI agents showed up on a C-17 and inspected the area. I was told that the Airmen in the tower had to sign NDAs. No one working on the flight line or working in Security Forces had to sign anything.
By the end of the week, our commander told us there would be nothing in the Security Forces incident blotter, and that it was being called "a UAV of unknown origin."
Whatever happened, it unsettled quite a few people. I got to talk to some of the maintenance Airmen who witnessed it, and they were adamant that this was no UAV and no actual aircraft. "Chrome disk, classic flying saucer," was what they told me.
In the days after, Airmen I worked with scoured the internet, and saw that this was not the first time there were alleged incidents at McGuire, even more interesting that this alleged incident happened in roughly the same area. Here is another write up of that incident in 1978.
Some final notes: McGuire is right next to the site of one of the country's worst nuclear accidents, that no one seems to know about.

2023.03.21 15:29 IPRDaily OREO VS AO LI GEI, Who Is the Winner?

OREO VS AO LI GEI, Who Is the Winner?
With exaggerated facial expressions and impassioned tones, the cheering phrase of “奥利给 (Ao Li Gei in Chinese) ” went viral on short-video platforms. This phrase’s popularity also earned it a spot in the top ten internet buzzwords of 2020. However, the widespread use of this phrase also caught the attention of a company called Shanghai Senyi Industry Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Senyi”), who smelt a business opportunity. In the same year, they began to apply for and register trademarks for “奥利给(Ao Li Gei in Chinese)” as well as “奥力给(Ao Li Gei in Chinese) ”. Afterwards, they started using these trademarks on their own cookies and wafers, and conducting large-scale sales. These products were not only sold in some small and medium-sized convenience stores, but also quickly entered high-end convenience stores and chain supermarkets like 7-11, BHG, and Tesco, as well as major online sales platforms such as TMall, JD, and PDD.
Consumers brought this product to the attention of Mondelēz China, a member of the Mondelēz International group of companies, due to the confusing similarities of the AO LI GEI products to its OREO products. Let's take a look at the comparison pictures of the two products.
VS

From the brands, to the cookie device, packaging, and other aspects, there are many similarities between the two products, making it easy for consumers to mistakenly think that “奥利给” / “奥力给” (Both are “Ao Li Gei” in Chinese) brand is one of OERO’s sub-brands, or like the well-known Asian artist Jackson Wang, mistakenly believe that the providers of the two products are related. However, neither of them are the fact.
In order to protect its own and the legitimate rights and interests of consumers, Intercontinental Great Brands LLC (hereinafter, “IGB”), the owner of the OREO trademarks and a member of the Mondelēz International group of companies, entrusted attorneys Michael Fu and Yang Luo from Chang Tsi & Partners (hereinafter referred to as “this Firm”), to send a cease and desist letter to Senyi and the manufacturer of its products (Dacheng County Mei Sa Jia Shi Da Food Co., Ltd., hereinafter referred to as “Mei Sa Jia Shi Da”) in August 2020, requiring these two companies to immediately cease the infringement. Since these companies showed no intention of cooperation and launched more product lines and further expanded their online and brick-and-mortar sales network, IGB eventually filed a trademark infringement civil litigation against these two companies before the Xicheng District People’s Court of Beijing.. IGB mainly demands that Senyi and Mei Sa Jia Shi Da immediately stop producing, selling, and promoting cookies and wafers using trademarks

, which are highly similar to the “OREO Series Marks” and “OREO Cookie Device Marks” (hereinafter referred to as the “infringing products” and “infringing trademarks”), and they shall jointly compensate for the economic losses and reasonable expenses incurred in investigating and stopping the infringement.
Senyi and Mei Sa Jia Shi Da argued that their trademarks do not infringe on the “OREO Series Marks”, for the following reasons: First, Senyi owns the registered trademarks No. 53389500
https://preview.redd.it/wdb393lnq3pa1.png?width=207&format=png&auto=webp&s=54d886671ae7257c46270734713679cefe2bae18
and No. 21979391

, both in Class 30, so it has the right to use the infringing trademarks; Second, the infringing trademarks are distinguishable from the “OREO Series Marks” and “OREO Cookie Device Marks”, so the two trademarks do not constitute similar trademarks; Third, the use of “奥利给 (Ao Li Gei in Chinese)” on the products is the use of an internet buzzword, not a trademark; Fourth, the infringing products have low sales, low prices, a limited market reach, and have not had any impact on the sales of IGB’s products. Moreover, they allegedly claimed that they did not profit, and even suffered losses, so IGB’s claim for compensation has no factual basis.
In December 2022, however, the Xicheng District People’s Court of Beijing (“Court”) issued its Civil Judgment (Case No.: (2021) Jing 0102 Min Chu 35274), which ruled in favor of IGB and ordered Senyi and Mei Sa Jia Shi Da to stop infringing on the exclusive trademark rights of IGB and to compensate IGB’s economic losses and reasonable expenses at the amount of CNY700,000. The court held that:
First, the trademarks

are similar to 奥利奥(OREO in Chinese) marks from pronunciation, overall appearance, and meaning so they are similar trademarks. The cookie device mark “

, from composition, colour, overall structure, and etc., so they are similar trademarks. IGB’s trademarks have obtained high distinctiveness and reputation through their extensive promotion and use. As the competitors in the industry of cookies, it is impossible that Senyi and Mei Sa Jia Shi Da do not know IGB’s trademarks. However, instead of actively avoiding any disputes, they chose to manufacture products with the trademarks similar to IGB’s, which shows their obvious bad faith of free-riding. Even though the evidence provided by Senyi and Mei Sa Jia Shi Da could prove that “奥利给 (Ao Li Gei in Chinese)” is an internet buzzword, this word has weak correlation with the ingredient, function, and raw materials of cookies so it is not a generic word of cookies. From how the infringing trademarks are used, Senyi and Mei Sa Jia Shi Da are not using “奥利给 (Ao Li Gei in Chinese)” maintaining its original meaning but separately marking them in an extensive way and with the “TM” logo. This can sufficiently prove the subjective intention of Senyi and Mei Sa Jia Shi Da for using
https://preview.redd.it/gkkf1is6r3pa1.png?width=169&format=png&auto=webp&s=0155075d7895f49c7574843cc1e21362cf779321
and
https://preview.redd.it/6kupouj8r3pa1.png?width=169&format=png&auto=webp&s=e72570ac0906287265361941e1531a82d5fdcd38
as trademarks. In terms of the position and mode of use, these two marks have played the role to distinguish the source of goods. The infringing products, including cookies and wafers, are identical to cookies designated by IGB’s trademarks.
When the two parties’ marks are similar, the way how the infringing trademarks are used can sufficiently cause confusion. Considering that Mei Sa Jia Shi Da is authorized by Senyi to manufacture the infringing products, it shall be determined that they both proceeded with the manufacture of the infringing products. Hence, Mei Sa Jia Shi Da’s act of producing the infringing products and Senyi’s acts of authorizing Mei Sa Jia Shi Da to produce and of selling the infringing products shall be recognized as the use of trademarks similar to IGB’s trademarks on identical goods. This shall easily cause confusion and harm the exclusive trademark rights of IGB. The evidence in this case cannot prove that the infringement has been ceased. Therefore, Senyi and Mei Sa Jia Shi Da shall be liable to cease the infringement and compensate the loss of IGB.
Second, as for the amount of damages, the court determines that Senyi and Mei Sa Jia Shi Da shall burden the damages and reasonable expenses at the amount of CNY 700,000 by taking into consideration factors including 1) IGB’s trademarks have high reputation; 2) the sale of the infringing products are sold both online and offline and sale territory is wide; 3) the sale volume of the infringing products is relatively big; 4) the proportion of the infringing trademarks on the infringing products is relatively large and their font is relatively extensive, which will greatly affect consumers’ choice; and 5) the subjective bad faith of Senyi and Mei Sa Jia Shi is relatively obvious.
After the court judgment, Senyi and Mei Sa Jia Shi Da finally decided not to appeal and complied with the first-instance judgment. In this trademark infringement battle between 奥利奥 (OREO in Chinese) and 奥利给 (Ao Li Gei in Chinese), 奥利奥 (OREO in Chinese) has always been the more powerful contender and ultimately emerged victorious. Not only did it successfully combat the egregious trademark infringement behavior in this case, but it also strongly and vigorously protected its own and the legitimate rights and interests of consumers at large.

Hello again /borrow.
Back again, unfortunately.
Just paid off a loan with a lender here 2 days ago. Didn't think I'd be returning so soon as I was anticipating my tax refund to be issued this week, but apparently there is a hold up due to errors (first time filing W-2 AND 1099 [the latter of which caused the problems apparently]).
I have side work (Graphic Design contracts) that I am currently working on, but they wont be finalized and issued payment until roughly 2 weeks from now. Said funds will be used for repayment.
Thank you for reading and your consideration.

2023.03.21 07:20 Lornalt Battle for Cygnus A a Fiction Story

So over the years, I've posted 1 story AAR and 2 life stories of characters in the game in Reddit. Today, as I played it I got inspired-ish.
So this is an entirely fictional account of a Battle using ships I designed in a system I imagined.

----
Battle for Cygnus A a Fiction Story
YXX13, 1 jump from Cygnus A onboard HOS Burgundy, Flagship of the 2nd Fleet Zulu Combat Command
Master Arabella Paidar sat on her command chair and faced the 6 projections in front of her. She took note of their stoic faces and wondered if they were really as impassive as they looked.
Thinking that she started. “So Paladins any updates?”
The two Paladins of both fleets and the four Paladin Squires commanders of the four flotilla looked at one another and soon looked towards Paladin Isador, commander of the 1st Battle Fleet. She composed herself and looked towards a point off center before looking back towards her superior and started her briefing.
“Master, our Battle Group is currently 2 hours from the Jump point towards Cygnus A. As you know raiders have been harassing shipping in the system and the planetary governor has been raising hell with High command.”
“Fleet intelligence has indicated 11 contacts, 4 of sizes estimated around 9k tons and 6 at 12k tons. The final contact while still being confirmed has been identified to be around 20k tons.”
“We don’t know their full capabilities yet but Quincy, our diplomatic ship that encountered them reported nearly 200 missiles were launched at them over 2 hours of contact she had with the enemy fleet as she ran for safety.” She looked sad as she said the next moment “Quincy reported they took down nearly 160 missiles before she was struck by a salvo that came too close with another salvo and wasn’t able to shoot those down. Knight Captain Orion died with with his ship”
There was a sudden intake of air from all the paladins present as everyone remembered that the commander of the Holy Order’s name was Mersadie Orion.
“Elder Mersadie was very clear with her orders. We are to hunt and sink all enemy ships in the Cygnus A System.”
As she said that, Paladin Meng the commander of the 2nd Battle Fleet looked up from a panel he was looking at and reported. “That does tell us something of their missile capabilities though, Quincy reported initial passive contact with their fleet at 20 million klicks. Their active sensors then picked up the missiles entering their active ranges soon after.” He looked around the holo displays again and said “Say they opened fire at 20 million klicks and the Qunicy was able to shoot down 160 missiles. Granted the ship mounted 5 CIWS defense systems more than any of our current warships, but we got 40 ships. Better armor, better sensors if anything we should be able to hammer the aliens easily!”
Paladin Squire Indrick his 3rd flotilla commander spoke up next “Quincy was a not a warship, the CIWS systems on her was also outdated. We on the other hand have the most advanced systems available to us” He smiled as he looked towards Arabella, “Sir, I recommend we go in hard, let the frigate squadrons cover our advance and once we are close enough, our heavy lasers should make short work of their ships.”
As he closed with that, the other paladins nodded their heads and turned towards Arabella. She took in their determination and gave a smile of her own. “Indrick, your plan seems simple enough. While we do have to devise a more suitable plan of action, the idea is there. We are here to follow the orders of the Elder! All of you should gather your staff and make an attack plan. Report back in 2 hours, we will hold at the Jump Point and once we select the best course of action. We shall purge the xeno-scum from our space!”
She stood up and drew her sword and yelled out. “For Holy Terra and the Order!” and watch with satisfaction as the other paladins did the same.

YXX13, in Cygnus A, Outside Jump point charlie.
The 2nd Fleet jumped into Cygnus A a day later, upon which the fleet started a full burn towards Cygnus B1, a small rocky planet just 2 billion km from the sole colony in the system.
As Arabella received reports from the colony and their garrison commander, she frowned and turned towards Knight Captain Eun-Young's display showing the ship bridge and the organized chaos that was playing out behind him. “Is this right? Captain?” and looked up at the display. “They did nothing? The aliens did not push in to raid the colony?”
Captain Eun-Young also turned to face Arabella and reported back. “Master we have received the most up to date reports and our sensors report the same thing. The aliens are holding at their last reported location and we are sure that they did not move, our passive sensors are already picking them out at the maximum range.” Arabella looked towards her own sensor officer and saw the nod he gave her and turned back to Eun-Young. “Ok then it looks like a slug fight is on the table. Give the order to the fleet and let them know to proceed with Plan Gamma”
Captain Eun-Young saluted and spoke “For the Order!, Sir” She watched her flag captain and her communications officer on her own flag bridge start distributing orders and sat back while watching the monitors. “What next?” she muttered watching the unmoving contacts on her sensor displays and wondered what was to come. She suddenly felt something in her guts but waved it off.
History, it seems, loves to repeat itself. The battle would be a very long one for Arabella and she would never forgive herself for what would come next.
—-
YXX13 in Cygnus A 4 hours from Raider Fleet, 30 million klicks.
Everything seemed fine and they were 2 hours from the raiders expected launch range when the sensors on all 4 of the Destroyer Leaders saw the same thing.
Arabella was in her stateroom when the klaxons started blaring the same message over and over again. “Battle Stations! Battle Stations!” as Knight Captain Eun-Young's voice came over the alarms.
She ran out and into the elevators waiting to bring her towards the flag deck. She entered the room and glanced at the holo projectors showing her paladins and their flag decks as well as the bridge deck of the HOS Burgundy. She did not like what she saw.
The organized chaos that was there was still visible but when you see multiple combat decks and all their crews speaking with more urgency and in her mind signs of panic in their voice. Even she could not help but be affected.
She turned towards Eun-Young and he spoke with haste as he met her eyes. “Sir! Primary sensors are now picking up multiple incoming, We believe them to be missiles. They crossed the 4 million klick inner detection ring just seconds ago!”
“If this is correct, their launch range is significantly larger than expected and we just waltz into their kill zone.” She frowned and stared at the plot showing the missiles coming in at 20k km/s almost twice the rated speed for tracking on their CIWS and Gauss turrets.
She then noticed the numbers. Spinning back to the communication displays she spoke to no one in particular “200 a salvo!? How many salvos have we detected!” Paladin Squire Romulus, her 4th flotilla commander, replied with a heavy tone. “Sir we have just seen the 8th salvo crossing into our detection zone, I recommend we start defensive action!”
She looked at the plot again and saw the 9th salvo coming in and said nothing for a minute watching even more salvos come into range. “Defensive fire is authorized, Laser and Gauss batteries are to start area defensive fire. Pull all ships in tighter for better anti missile coordination” She then looked towards the flotilla commanders. “Push the frigates forward, they were designed for this work.” All of her commanders tightened their eyes and nodded, they knew that it was the best chance for their destroyers to survive and close into the alien fleet.
She then watched as orders were given and the men and women of her fleet brought their guns to bare. She knew it wasn't enough. 200 missiles and salvos around 20 seconds apart. It would break them. She prayed it would not.
Break them, it tried, the salvos stopped after the 20th one came into range. The defensive fire of the River class frigates tore into the salvos, each River class ship came with 3 batteries of Quad Gauss turrets and they fired non-stop. Even the jump and leader class frigates mounted at least 1 battery of turrets.
By the end of the 20 salvos, 40 ships became 31. 6 Rivers 1 Counties (Leader) and 2 Minbari (Jump) frigates lay stricken as the fleet pushed forward and left their wrecks behind.
The damage to the fleet was just as significant, all the remaining frigates were damaged to a degree and some of the destroyers took heavy armor damage. Some 2500 crew died in a span of 10 minutes of desperate fire and explosions, The Holy Order lost ¼ of its Heavy elements in 10 minutes and they were still needed to close to gun range of the alien fleet.
—-
YXX13 in Cygnus A 3 hours from Raider Fleet, 22 million klicks.
Master Arabella Paidar knew her career was over as she watched screens of damage reports, one screen showing the flag deck of the 1st Battle Strike Flotilla showing artifacts and when it was working a damaged and burning deck.
She knew Paladin Squire Boreas was dead, Paladin Isador who also had her flag bridge on the same ship was still out of contact. She prayed Isador was still alive and in the meantime Paladin Squire Zhang Soo-Kyung would have to command both flotilla of the 1st Battle Group.
Her flag deck was still calm but as she glanced up towards the bridge deck display she saw her Flag Captain standing at his command console and directing damage control teams, His XO who should have been doing that Knight-Lieutenant Tycho died when the Auxiliary control bridge was blown up from a missile strike.
Even now she prayed for the souls of those who were lost and blamed herself for underestimating the enemies. She turned towards the remaining flag offices and gave her next orders. “Transfer the wounded to the ships most heavily damaged and direct them back to Jump point, the Rescue squadron and logistic fleets have already jumped and will know the results of this battle soon.” She sighed and looked towards the plot and the 11 red glowing dots. “We got hammered badly and they still aren’t damaged. They may have fired all their offensive missiles but we can’t be sure. Tighten the formation and rotate the ships to ensure we have full fields of fire for anything else”
She turned back to the displays and narrowed her eyes. “We still aren’t out of the fight and we still got our main batteries! I want constant reports on anything that happens with the alien fleet from now on and our sensor watch is to be kept on high rotation to ensure we don’t get caught flat footed again!”
Hearing the assembled paladins reply back in the affirmative, she turned back to the plot and sat impassively, watching and waiting for the next phase of the battle to start.

2023.03.21 04:36 ecesllc Tiny Village Project

MODESTO COMMUNITY ACTION ASSOCIATION has announced that they are moving forward in development for the community wide effort at batting the escalating issue of unhoused and under housed folks in the area.
Since 2014, the Modesto Community Action Association has worked with various agencies and advocacy groups to build better, more accountable programs that provide real results to this problem. The group consists of both clients and providers of these services, which we feel often need to be given perspectives more often of those who actually use these programs and services.
Our goals include a drop in center and this project, Tiny Home Village.
Our outreach is done with many people who are involved in the daily struggle to survive. We are in touch with people who are dying to be active and involved, yet have no clue where to start. We seek to unite these people in the effort to make real and lasting changes in the waya service is provided and the responsibly we have to fellow human kind to give a hand up, not out, if we have those means.
This is a three phase plan that will identify and attempt to develop a plot of land we can have through either a partnership with a landowner or real estate agent, or with the city or county, using the resources of locally based doners to build a small community of affordable tiny houses and provide the homes as long term solutions for housing.
Each would be equipped with appliances and the community would be secure, with 24/7 on site security and manager who would be also living on site. The units would require the eventual occupants to provide in kind labor and solict financial assistance, to contribute to the effort. Residents will have a case manager and a plan towards self sufficiency, with check in required to be able to stay. There would be no restriction on length of tenancy, and rent would be adjusted to the work hours they contribute to the ongoing effort to keep the community solid.
Tenants meeting every week. On site manager On site security Fully equipped 200-300 square feet units for individual or family. Phase one - demo units (4), community outbuildings, and garden, and staff units.
Family units are larger, up to 340 sq feet. Individuals can be placed in one of three 150-300 sq feet units prr initial design and budget estimate.
The current goal is to raise the funds to raise funds. A funding campaign will be available online soon. We will seek the backing of both government grants and private donations. The committee is going to start meeting on Zoom (see schedule). We are going to be expecting to appoint the replacement of our founding Board member, Lola Kennedy, who passed away after a long illness last month.

A River Runs Through It: The 21st Century Case for Cleveland
Brooke C. Stoddard
The 19th-century case for Cleveland was compelling: terminus of a canal linking the southernmost point of the Great Lakes to the lower Ohio River valley and then east-west railroads that made Cleveland a hub for ship/road/rail transportation of iron ore, coal, kerosene and agricultural products.
The late-20th-century case was cruel: First, dealing with World War II production pollution; second, industrial companies sending manufacturing overseas.
But Cleveland is again well positioned. Consider the 21st-century case for Cleveland:
Living downtown. The downtown is attracting tens of thousands of people owing to reasonable housing, bike and walking trails, and much to do. Downtown housing is 91% occupied and $895 million in new residential construction is underway.[1]
Water and water quality. Cleveland enjoys a meandering river and one of the warmest of the Great Lakes.[2] Water quality of both is improving and is likely to continue improving. Businesses that require water can have all they want. The Cuyahoga River has become a sports river as well as an ore boat one. Kayaks and rowing shells ply the Cuyahoga now -- USA Today recently voted the Cuyahoga River the #1 urban paddling locale in North America[3] -- and all manner of sailboats skitter on the lake.
Weather. Summer weather is wonderful: average highs in the low 80s.[4] Spring and fall are spectacular. Of course, winters can be irksome, but with global warming, the trend is for milder temperatures. There’s an upside to winter anyway: it’s a good time to stay indoors and get things done, whether in a factory, in school, or at home.
Negatives make for an overarching positive. Huge swatches of the United States live in fear of: wildfires; hurricanes; tornados; floods; rising sea levels; droughts; heat waves; and earthquakes. Cleveland is virtually free of all of these. The area also has beautiful beaches but no sharks.
Arts -- The Big Four: The Cleveland Orchestra and the Cleveland Art Museum are generally rated among the best in the world; the Rock and Roll Museum is unique; Playhouse Square downtown is the largest performing arts center outside New York City[5] and boasts theaters of the dazzling “theater palace” variety (also, Playhouse Square’s new director just relocated from running London’s Albert Hall[6]).
Housing. Residents on the East and West Coasts would likely have to push their jaws back up after seeing the homes they could buy if they sold their coastal ones. Mansions can be had for $1 million. The average single-family house in the Ohio City neighborhood downtown is $275,000.[7] Of course, such bargains may not last.
Parks. More than 55 miles of parks and greenway swag east, south and west of downtown. Cleveland’s MetroParks, often ranked the #1 park system in the nation, comprises 18 reservations, 24,000 acres, 300 miles of trails and a terrific zoo. Just to the south is the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. There are 10 waterfalls in MetroParks property alone and at least a dozen more in Cleveland’s outskirts.[8]
Education. Case Western Reserve and Cleveland State universities are downtown. Baldwin Wallace and John Carroll universities are in the close suburbs. Nearby are Kent State University as well as Kenyon, Oberlin, Hiram, and Wooster colleges.
Manufacturing. As noted, there is plenty of fresh water and plenty of electricity. Owing to the colleges and universities in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio, the work force is well educated.
Sports. Major league baseball, football, and basketball. Cleveland is also a good skating, tennis, and golf metropolis. There are 10 ski resorts within 200 miles.[9]
Inclusion. Plenty of diversity. There are neighborhoods of blacks, whites, Eastern Europeans, Latinx, and Asians, all having festivals and ethnic restaurants.
Food. Plenty of agriculture nearby; good for Farm-to-Table
Government. The voters in 2021 scrapped business as usual to elect 34-year-old Justin Bibb as mayor. The future’s unknown but Bibb has plenty of ideas and lots of energy.
Resurgent downtown. Cleveland was prosperous during the 1890-1920 City Beautiful Movement. A city plan from those times heralds a mall lined with Beaux Arts buildings, themselves richly embellished inside and complemented outside with distinguished sculptures. Pleasant single-family homes are available in the Ohio City and Tremont neighborhoods; the Warehouse District has been converting to condos and apartments; “The Flats” district along the river offers evening activities. Bike and walking trails continue to increase.
Transportation. Light rail and buses connect neighborhoods; light rail runs from downtown to the airport; Amtrak wants to run more east-west trains through downtown to Chicago, Detroit and New York City, as well as speedy ones to Columbus, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh. Hyperloop Transportation Technologies has suggested a Midwest network linking five cities that would reduce Cleveland-Chicago travel time to 28 minutes (not a typo).[10]
Festivals. There is no lack of parades, concerts, marathons, etc. In summer, the Orchestra plays for free in Public Square as well as at the National Park-nestled outdoor Blossom Center.
Library system. The Cuyahoga County Library system and Cleveland Library were rated #1 and #4 nationally for service last year by Library Journal.[11] The Cleveland Library has 31 branches in the city; its jewel in the crown is the Beaux Arts downtown branch.
Health care. The Cleveland Clinic has been ranked the best in the world after only the Mayo Clinic,[12] and ranks ahead of Mayo in cardiology.[13]
As real estate people like to say of an old home, “It has good bones.” Cleveland has “good bones” in the form of enviable assets. Will people and business respond? The door is open.
Brooke C. Stoddard lives in Alexandria, Virginia, is the president of The Cleveland Club of Washington, D. C., and the author of two books.
