my job is making me feel depressed, what should i do?
2023.06.07 03:13 enchanted_meow my job is making me feel depressed, what should i do?
to give some background i like what i do at my job and i work at my “dream” company but after 5 years i’m feeling severe burnout. many people have left my company due to non competitive pay and for the amount of work i’m putting in i also feel underpaid. no matter what i feel extremely stressed and overwhelmed. i’m starting to get to the point that even on meetings i can’t help but have an attitude.
reasons why i am still here: 1. im comfortable, easy for me to be flexible with schedule if i need to be, confident in my work 2. they are paying for my masters right now(almost done) 3. close to home 4. i like the work and like that i’m using my degree 5. good maternity leave for when i have kids 6. simply just scared to leave: is grass really greener, bad imposter syndrome, not sure what other jobs i can use my degree where i’m living
reasons i wanna leave: 1. extremely overworked 2. constantly stressed and anxious 3. underpaid (make 90k but not great for my career) also live in very expensive area 4. when i have to go in i usually have to stay late (~1x a month i work 8 am-12 am (not from home)) 5. not much room for growth 6. can’t stand the people i work with anymore, i used to love my team but it keeps evolving and it’s not good 7. feel like i can never shut off from work im always working and never feel like i’m never catching up on any work
any thoughts or advice is much appreciated.

| Helped my dad install my sister’s wall mount. He wanted to do it cheap so he used left over parts he had. Three mollies failed so he found two picture hooks. Should also mention this somehow took 5 hours and he didn’t listen to me about everything being wrong. Worst part: there was a Home Depot a mile away. submitted by IJKProductions to mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments] |

2023.06.07 03:05 IndianLarper Rent increase
Have been paying $390 per week in Brisbane for a tiny place with my partner for the last 1.5yrs. We're both students. 1 bedroom, small bathroom, a combined kitchen/'living room' space. All together the size of a glorified garage plus a small deck at the back. No grass/backyard, no parking, no study room etc.
Have just had rent increased to $450 PW plus bond increase. I imagine this is somewhat proportional to the increased rates, inflation. Regardless still stings as someone who fits the broke student archetype. Is this fair given the context? Already at max rent assistance..
Just really bring forward the reality of the lower class paying off the upper classi nvestment properties. Can't possibly afford to buy a home anytime soon, and no chance getting a place EVER in my home town which has sky rocketed (nothern rivers).
It's f*cking hilarious seeing people complain about rates for their multiple properties when most young people can't even entertain owning a home. If you aren't expecting hefty inheritance you're screwed unless you finess your way into a high paying career. And even then... I'm no socialist but property should not be the go to investment for Australians, it's inherently exploitive. 2 properties per family/person should be the absolute max.
I know it's no revelation that the housing market is broken but damn. Don't want to start a family while paying off someone else. If you're a landlord or have fortunate family circumstances be aware of your position.

2023.06.07 02:34 Passtheshavingcream Will the unemployment rate increase?
If you have read my posts, you can see that I am not a fan of the low unemployment rate and massive jobs gifting that was pursued by Australia. Inflation is now entrenched and the only thing that can offer respite and a possible life would be a very very hard recession. The low unemployment rate stands between where we are now and where we could go.
Before you get angsty and emotional, just think are you happy for things to continue the way they are without a correction? Even those that gave up their development by living at home well into their 20's/ 30's will be competing with people who did the same, so the prices will be even higher so long as they have jobs while smooching off their parents - inflation came from somewhere, right?
So... do you think unemployment will increase, or do you think it will remain at low levels so people can continue to save and afford the artificially high costs in Australia?

2023.06.07 02:18 songfireleaf catsitting and compulsive walking
catsitting for the next 2 weeks and i typically plan all my compulsive walking around a very "artificially elongated" commute- i take public transit and...... end up doing far, far more walking in the process than actually necessary. and now i'm in a different place than usual! so i have to re-plan all of my garbage given where i currently am now. this is shit. this is bullshit. i'm so tired. but also i know if i get out of the habit of the pretty fair amount of walking that IS required for the part of my commute that isn't artificially elongated, i'm gonna be miserable when i get home.
i hate it here.
for the record: attempting recovery right now but currently prioritizing decreasing restrictive food behaviors before i deal with decreasing compulsive walking/exercise (a piecewise approach seems to be the most reasonable for me at the moment, because if i pull back on both simultaneously i know i'm headed for a bad time and a potential alcohol relapse). main focus right now is getting better with consistency/adequacy of eating, and not having the compulsive walking/exercise get actively worse.

2023.06.07 02:16 Low_Umpire_7111 Outdoor shed conversion to full-sized Party / Karaoke BAR
| There was a shed in the backyard already built but used as storage in my backyard. I had absolutely no previous experience in DIY as I lived in a condo all my life and didn't need to handle any kind of tools. My goal with this shed was to try and transform it into a bar to host parties / karaoke nights. The shed dimensions are 11 x 14 feet. Keep in mind I live in Canada and I wanted to be able to use it in the -30 degree winter nights! Please find below the different steps of the projects with pictures! Grab a seat, I'll serve ya! The lounge as I call it STEPS / TIMELINE - First step was research, research AND research.
- Second step was equipping myself with Ryobi tools from home depot
- Third step was to strip the storage shelves and empty the shed !
Everything had to go! 4. Step 4 was insulating the walls and the roof. I got the foam from my local home depot store. I used two 2x4 panels between the wood struts. Then, I covered everything with a vapor barrier and stapled it to the wood. Getting some help from my dad ! We unfortunately weren't able to insulate the flooring as the plywood screws were so rusted there was absolutely no way to remove them. We tried all the possible tricks on the internet and no luck. We decided not to insulate the floor. 5. Step 5 I had read that it is better to frame everything up using 2x3 wood lats. So this is what we did! Framing 6. There was already a breaker box with 2 outlets. I hired an electrician to set up a 240v heater and 4 spotlights on the roof. The spotlights are from Globe; full LED and can be controlled from anywhere using the phone app. (No need to be within distance) Breaker on the left, heater and spotlights 7. Step 7 was definetly the hardest and the one that had me discouraged. God knows how many drywall panels I've ruined by not cutting them well. Too much, not enough, then too much... SCRAP. Repeat.. Rent a truck from home depot.. unload dry wall.. break drywall.. cut too much.. REPEAT. Due to the framing it was easy to know where to screw the panels. Drywall is up! I definetly should have bought that tool to cut around the spotlight for it to fit perfectly.... 8. Step 8 was the drywall joints. I was all over the place and reeaallyyy messy but at least I had fun doing it. Pretty satisfying to see it unfold. Everything is covered, as you can see 9. Step 9 was applying primer on the walls and the roof Needed a small brush for the edges 10. Step 10 was starting the build the bar frame. I am SO glad with how simple it was to do, considering I have never put two wood parts together. Bar frame! All from home depot 11. Step 11, I realize I should stop with the bar until I put the floor because It will be too late to get it out once it's all screwed together. So I chose to go with Vinyl planks, once again from my local home depot store. Looks like an appartment 12. Step 12, I had to paint the walls and the roof. I chose to go with a brick wallpaper for one wall and a custom wallpaper for the second, and the rest matte black. Paint is called ''Limousine Black'', from home depot. I'll spare you the pictures and skip to the custom wallpaper I had done through Alibaba by a company in China. All custom-made 13. Everything is ready, the rest is staining the actual bar, furnishing the room and touch-ups here and there. I bought everything online or from locals selling used stuff! Needs furnishing My Signature Disco ball! submitted by Low_Umpire_7111 to DIY [link] [comments] |
2023.06.07 02:05 dtaylor187 Appliance Repair near Commack
Bought a dehumidifier from Home Depot a little over a year ago and the compressor just failed a few days ago, of course.
I bought the extended warranty which covers it, filed a claim, they want me to "pick the repair shop of my choice" and they'll reimburse me with a check.
Any recommendations on what shop to go to?

2023.06.07 02:02 EarlGreySuperfan Help with an autism-friendly room
I am moving into a one room space that's 4x4 metres. I'm autistic and consequently I get quite easily visually overwhelmed, and have poor spatial awareness, and the process of trying to design a neurodivergent friendly space is causing me a lot of stress. I'd like to have a small shelf of my books with a chair to sit and read in, a single bed and a small kitchen area, but I'm not sure how to situate them in relation to each other in a way that makes the space feel homely, or where to place rugs for separation of space. There's a pair of double doors into the space and a window on the left side for some more context. The neighbours on the left side are very loud and unpleasant so I'm not sure where to place the bed- with the headboard against the wall their side so that I face away from them, or with the headboard against the other wall, yet the bed facing them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks very much.

2023.06.07 01:53 Longjumping-Ad2183 Can anyone help me find an email?
I applied for a position as cashier Home Depot but they haven’t contacted me even though they said they would. It’s been a month and nothing, no rejection, no interview. I wanted to see if anyone could help me find an email. The store I applied to is Hialeah Gardens #6872.
If not, I’ll just call. Thank you :))

2023.06.07 01:44 fategrandemperor [TOMT][PSA][mid 2000s - 2014] A British pencil drawn PSA that aired on Irish Nickelodeon after 6PM, focusing on an emotional support dog, ziplines and bullying, ending with a hotline being shown at the end
Hey TOMT! A friend of mine is looking for a PSA but she doesn't have a reddit account, so I decided to post in her place instead. Every response or question will be forwarded to her! She described the PSA like this:
"It was a pencil drawn animation one that used to be played after 6pm on Nick Toons that was British and had an emotional support dog in it. The emotional support dog would support the children/teenagers as they talked about a situation that they were worried about. This one was about two girls at the park confronting a bully on the zipline who wouldnt let anyone have a turn on the zipline. The girls tried to ask her if they could have a turn but the bully girl yelled at them. There was a shot of her standing over them and they were shrunken below her and she continued zip lining. The girls were like "she wasnt nice but maybe she was taking itnout on us becayse she has a bad family life" the bully girl then shown at home forlornly eating dinner while mum and dad shouted at each other in the bg and the girls felt sorry for her and told the dog. Then it faded out to a helpline number with a narrator"
I ended up asking if there was anything else special about the PSA. I got the following response:
"The bully girl had a pony tail and it was blonde and she wore green. The style was like lightly coloured pencils , like when youre quickly colouring. There was another video in the series but i dont remember that one much. Boy on the grass with his head in his hands knees pulled up with the dog resting his head by his feet. That one was more directly about abuse."
The PSA aired in Ireland (not Northern Ireland) and has supposedly been shown multiple times, according to my friend. She also states that she contacted various charities and tried to search for it with her mother, to no avail.
Hopefully this is enough info.

2023.06.07 01:43 GetYourShitT0gether Smaller chime box?
Anyone know where I can buy a smaller doorbell chime box? I live in an old townhome from 84 and the chime box is right in the living room. This is the
one I haveand hate how big it is...I replaced the old doorbell for a smart one and rewired the doorbell chime box to not ring. I would love to find a small one to replace it with (already checked Home Depot/Lowes/Ace) and no I do not wish to remove the whole box. Anyone have any suggestion?

2023.06.07 01:37 WhiteGuineaPig Why Dedede is a good main.
A lot of people put Dedede as low tier, but this is why he is at least mid.
Though statistically, he's a Home Depot bucket of lard, he moves like one, which is not a lot. He also hits like a Tonka Truck.
In practice, he's a tank that's blaring Funky Town. He has mind games like no other and has crazy aerials to boot. His vertically recover is absurd for a super heavy, with decent horizontal recovery.
His best ability is ledge trapping, letting you piss off your opponent even more, making them screw up more.
Finally, big hammer.
That's all, have a good day, and may the Lord Dedede rest in your heart.

2023.06.07 01:29 indianindie1491 I got this massive rug at the thrift store, how do I deep clean it home ?
| Found this gorgeous 8 by 10 feet rug at the thrift store today and it’s perfect but I want to deep clean it before letting my baby near it. It looks like it’s made of cotton, I’m considering doing an overnight soak in the bathtub with hot water, tide detergent and baking soda and then leaving out in the sun to dry until the water runs clear but I’m scared of it bleeding color. Any tips and suggestions please ? It’s just so beautiful, I don’t want to ruin it. submitted by indianindie1491 to CleaningTips [link] [comments] |
