2023.06.04 11:22 IndifferentRiver Six Video Game Perks - Pick Two

Your enamoration towards video games has been rewarded. Six video game perks lay before you, of which you may take TWO.

[Game Creator]: You gain exceptional talent when it comes to the art of creating, marketing, and playing video games, easily making you the best in the world in these three skills. You can create worlds of wonder that become instant classics, market them to the entire world, and play them with the skill of every pro on Earth merged together. Additionally, you become proficient on the level of a world class expert on all matters related to code or coding, including creating code and hacking code.

[The Protagonist]: You gain the ability to enter into the world of a video game. To do this, you must have the source material for the video game (i.e, a disk, a usb with only the game downloaded, a game manual, etc.). Upon entering the video game, you permanently gain any skills, knowledge, or benefits you get in this world. You'll be dropped in a random place with no people during the start of the video game. You're still you, and death is permanent unless you get an item saying otherwise (i.e a one-up). You cannot leave the game world until you complete it's 'main task', which is the journey the original protagonist takes, be that getting a special item or killing a boss. Afterwards you'll have a period of 15 days before you are immediately teleported back to your 'home' on Earth, no time having passed. If there is no main task then you are simply teleported back 'home' after ten years.

[Endless Enjoyment]: You get a simple one bedroom house in the middle of nowhere in a country of your choice. This house is paid off fully forever, has all the works (electricity, water, etc) no intruders will ever break in, and the fact this house belongs to you will only be known by you unless you make it known. Inside this house is a gaming heaven, a fully upgraded computer and universal gaming console that is updated every day with the latest and best gaming hardware/software. Every game made is on these machines in a virtual library that caters to your subconscious, always showing you games you would definitely enjoy. Once every three months the computer will create a game you are sure to love, the catch being that you can't make any money off of it.

[Life Like a Game]: You gain a video game HUD (head's up display). This HUD shows you three things, your status, your skills, and your current quests. Stats are Level, Health, Mana, Stamina, Strength, Vitality, Endurance, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, and Luck. The skills menu shows any skills you have acquired, their function, and your level in them. The quests menu shows you your current quests which the HUD gives out depending on the context of your environment and level with multiple possible rewards. You start at Level 1 in each stat and gain 5 stat points upon leveling up, otherwise the only way to get stat points is to train that specific stat (i.e., working out would level up Strength and Vitality). Functions akin to a typical RPG system.

[Glitch Finder]: You can find glitches. Real world physics is perfect and objectively sound for everyone except you. If you look hard enough and experiment you can find numerous video game-esque glitches in the real world. Putting money in and out of a safe really fast might duplicate it, walking sideways into the corner of a door might let you noclip through it, etc. It's up to your creativity and ingenuity to really take advantage of this perk. If it can be done in a video game, it might be able to be done in real life. Be careful not to noclip to the center of the Earth.

[Nostalgic Nights]: When playing a game you played as a child with fond memories of, you can go back in time to that point of your child self playing the video game. The age must be between 5-12yrs old. You can only go back in time once every year starting on the day you first go back in time. You do not get the opportunity to pick out of 6 perks again, the other perk you pick along with this one is permanent irregardless of time or space manipulation. After you go back in time four different times playing video games, you no longer need to play a video game to go back in time and the age restriction is released but the 1 year cooldown remains.

Daily Minors Quick-Notes 6/3/23 - A Concerning Early Exit in Eugene
Vaun Brown left Saturday’s game early, a couple of innings after getting hit by a pitch, leading to concerns about him losing more time this season to injury. Meanwhile, a huge bullpen meltdown hurts Sacramento, and Victor Bericoto moves into a tie for the team lead in home runs.

AAA: Tacoma 11, Sacramento 7

Sacramento Notes:
  • A big bullpen blowup changed this game, as a 4-2 lead quickly turned to 11-4 deficit from the 6th-7th innings. Sacramento had jumped out to a lead with a David Villar RBI single in the first, and while tied 1-1, Sacramento scored two more in the 4th on a Ford Proctor single and a Will Wilson groundout, with another run on the 5th on a Villar double. But a 6th inning grand slam highlighted a 5-run inning, and Tacoma added four more.
  • The leading Sacramento hitter was Luis Matos, who was 3-for-5 with three singles. That pushes his Sacramento batting average up to .405, as it’s Matos’ 5th straight game with multiple hits. With one strikeout today, he now has six strikeouts to five walks in 16 games.
https://twitter.com/RiverCats/status/1665204115973058560?s=20
  • At first base, David Villar went 2-for-4 with a double and a strikeout. Villar has multiple hits in three of his last four games (going hitless in his other game), going 8-for-20 (.400) with two doubles and two home runs. In 12 games, Villar now has three doubles and four home runs with a batting line of .313/.400/.625.
  • Michael Gigliotti went 1-for-3 with a triple and a walk. It was Gigliotti’s first triple of the season, to go along with eight doubles and two home runs over 39 games. He has 22 walks to 26 strikeouts leading to a line of .244/.358/.366.
https://twitter.com/RiverCats/status/1665203676275785728?s=20
  • Starting pitcher Tristan Beck returned to Sacramento, going a single inning, giving up a run without any hits, on two walks, a hit batter, and a strikeout. Beck had been in San Francisco since April 20th, where he’d posted a 4.10 ERA in ten games. He now has a 3.77 ERA in four appearances at Triple-A Sacramento.
  • Melvin Adón had the roughest of appearances, giving up a season-high seven runs on six hits and two walks in just 0.2 innings, including giving up the grand slam. It’s Adón’s third game this season out of 19 in which he’s given up at least five runs, and has 23 walks to 33 strikeouts in 24.0 innings.

AA: Erie 5, Richmond 0

Richmond Notes:
  • Richmond was just beaten soundly with a rough offensive day, and a notably worrying player out with a possible injury. Richmond got just six hits, with no extra-base hits, in a scoreless game. Meanwhile, starter Kai-Wei Teng had his shortest outing of the season, giving up three runs in the first inning, and Richmond never caught up.
  • Vaun Brown’s day ended early on a 0-for-1 day with a HBP and his first Double-A steal. Brown was hit in the 3rd inning, but did stay in the game to steal a base and didn’t leave until the middle of the 6th, with no obviously apparent immediate reason. Perhaps after being hit in the arm, it began to swell up a bit over a few innings, which hopefully indicates it’s nothing serious. Brown has a .378/.465/.676 batting line in 10 games at Richmond, and now has a total of six steals in 19 games at three different levels.
  • Carter Williams was the only Squirrel with multiple hits, going 2-for-4. It was Williams’ second straight 2-hit game, and over a 6-game hitting streak with three multi-hit games. He has a .252/.304/.417 batting line with two doubles and five home runs in 31 games at Double-A this season.
  • Starting pitcher Kai-Wei Teng gave up three runs in a season-short 2.0 innings, on two hits and a season-high four walks with three strikeouts. After a strong first five starts, Teng has struggled since, with his ERA moving up from 2.33 to 5.54 in the five starts since. Teng now has 55 strikeouts to 18 walks in 37.1 innings
  • At the end of the game, Blake Rivera bucked his recent trend with a strong game, with 2.0 scoreless outings, allowing three hits, no walks, and three strikeouts. It’s Rivera’s first game without allowing a walk since May 5th. He had not allowed a walk in his first six games of the season, and had allowed at least one walk eight of his next nine games. He now has 27 strikeouts to 19 walks in 21.1 innings.

High-A: Eugene 5, Vancouver 3

Eugene Notes:
  • Eugene picked up a 5-3 win despite getting outhit 10-9. They were helped thanks to two home runs, by Victor Bericoto and Aeverson Arteaga, and a two double by game Edison Mora.
  • Victor Bericoto went 2-for-4 with a walk and his eighth home run of the season. That moves him into a tie with Luis Toribio, who hasn’t played since May 23rd. Over 46 games, Bericoto now has eight doubles, one triple, and one home run with 17 walks and 38 strikeouts.
  • Aeverson Arteaga was 1-for-3 with his own home run, his 6th of the year, with a walk. It’s Arteaga’s first home run since he hit three home runs in three straight games from May 20-May 23rd. Arteaga has a .208/.308/.393 batting line with six home runs to go with 10 doubles and three triples.
  • DH Edison Mora was 2-for-4 with two doubles on the night. In 14 games at Eugene, Mora now has three doubles and one home run (which came yesterday). He has a batting line of .130/.216/.261 in Eugene.
  • Left fielder Carter Howell was 2-for-4 with two singles and a walk. Howell has been very successful in his first week up in High-A. Howell is 9-for-21 (.429) with a double and a triple, with one walk to three strikeouts.
  • Nick Sinacola took the start, allowing a run in 4.0 innings, on two hits and no walks, with five strikeouts. It’s Sinacola’s best start by far out of his past five, as in his other four starts he’d allowed at least four runs in each. He now has 52 strikeouts to 13 walks in 38.0 innings.
  • Ben Madison gave up a run in 2.0 innings in relief, on three hits and no walks (with a wild pitch), notching two strikeouts. Madison has a 4.15 ERA over 15 games, with 42 strikeouts to 15 walks in 26.0 innings.

Low-A: Fresno 5, San Jose 4

San Jose Notes:
  • San Jose blew a late lead on the way to this loss, with four errors playing a significant role in them. Fresno and San Jose each scored a run in the first inning, but San Jose jumped out to a lead with three runs in the 5th. But both the 6th and 7th innings for Fresno led off with a San Jose error, leading to four unearned runs that gave the lead to the Grizzlies.
  • Diego Velasquez struck out in the 7th innings, which broke a streak of 11 straight plate appearances in which he’d gotten on base. Overall, Velasquez was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk on the game. Velasquez now has a .331/.437/.436 batting line, with 11 doubles to two home runs, and 25 walks to 33 strikeouts.
  • Center fielder Turner Hill was 2-for-5 with a pair of singles and a steal, his first. In 3 games since joining San Jose, Hill has 4-for-13 (.308) with a double, and no walks to one strikeout.
  • Making a rehab appearance was DH Joc Pederson, who was 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly. It was Pederson’s first game since May 12th in the big leagues, where he was hitting .235/.351/.494.
https://twitter.com/SJGiants/status/1665171199725301762?s=20
  • Shortstop Jose Ramos was 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base. Ramos had a rough May, batting .179 on the month, but has gone 2-for-7 with two walks and two strikeouts in his two games since the start of June.
  • Starter Miguel Yajure gave up a run on three hits with a walk, and struck out four. In his four games since he got started on his season since mid-May, he’s struck out 13 with three walks allowed in 9.0 innings.
  • Reliever Tyler Vogel struck out three in 2.0 innings without allowing a baserunner. Vogel now has a 3.57 ERA with 31 strikeouts to 15 walks in 22.2 innings.

2023.06.04 11:11 redditmeupbuttercup Rescue Dog Is Destroying My Whole House and I'm Not Sure What To Do

I rescued a gorgeous 10 month old puppy from Romania about 2 and a half months ago, the initial change was rough for about 6 weeks of that - she wasn't progressing, wouldn't leave her crate and hated almost everyone in the house but me.
Now she is out of the crate, getting used to the garden, likes 3 out of 5 people in the house, tolerant of being touched and is on her way to settling in. The problem I'm struggling with is that she will eat anything, in the last 10 days she has deconstructed an arm chair, pulled up the laminate flooring, heavily chewwed the legs of a wooden chair and obliterated a door stop.
I know that she isn't malicious or anything, probably just bored or hyperactive but she doesn't understand play and seems to get very stressed if you try, she does have plenty of chew toys and bones available to her which she loves but doesnt seem to help, she hasn't yet gotten used to her three strap harness yet either and she's an escape artist so walks are, for now, off the table though I'm working very hard on the training for it.
My instinct is to crate train to keep her safe when we are sleeping but she guarded her crate when we first got her and so I'm not sure if it will set her back at all, or whether she has come along enough to re introduce it slowly?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I've had rescues before but none quite as anxious or destructive as this one and so I'm in unfamiliar waters

2023.06.04 10:59 drkphntm How do you mentally survive the bad days?

I’m almost 5 months in now. I got covid on January 10th for the first time and just never recovered, shit continued to drag on and on and on.
I’m grateful that my baseline has improved a lot, no more brain fog, no more chronic fatigue, my sleep is overall getting better and better as time goes on.
However, I still have multiple bad days per week and it’s hard. Earlier this week, on Wednesday or Thursday, I was talking to my husband about this road trip we might take to Bavaria late July, and I was thinking about it like it could actually be possible. I almost felt completely normal on Thursday.
Then yesterday, I woke up with lower energy and my back was aching all day (a new symptom). I also had a pretty shitty day on Tuesday - albeit different, that bad day was centered around my eyes feeling tired and sore - and handled it quite well, but yesterday fucked me up.
I started worrying that I’ve been trying to do too much, that I need to still focus on resting every single day. What if I’m getting worse? What if my baseline is going to get worse? What if I’m stuck like this forever? By the end of the day, I was so anxious that I was trembling and spent hours calming my body down before I went to sleep. 😖
I know getting that anxious isn’t good for my health either ugh. My therapist who focuses on trauma discharged me about a month ago because he didn’t know how to help in this situation.
Just wondering how you guys mentally cope with bad days? I hate how fucking non-linear this is.

2023.06.04 10:58 Nicolas_Mistwalker I just don't know where to go anymore - any advice?

I'm looking for my next country. Help me pick it out!
I left Eastern Europe and moved to the Netherlands when I was 18-19. I've been here for almost 5 years, 3 in Amsterdam, and really dislike it. A few of my top issues: - there is virtually no nature beyond parks - people are rude and xenophobic and I've had just so so many bad interactions with strangers - there are almost no third spaces. There are no social spaces that are free that I'm aware of - everything is really really expensive. I'm in top ~5% income in Amsterdam, I still can't afford a modern house or a vehicle - I'm trans. Netherlands got rid of trans-care for adults, waiting times are now 7-15 years - healthcare in general is bad. No complaint is taken seriously and it takes months for a simple test - taxes are high but a lot of government-adjecent institutions are non-functional or corrupt, i.e. having to pay 300eur for translator on a 30min test. I had a problem with neighbours for 4 months and all of ~10 social help, municipality teams, legal, police, neighborhood team, associations and so on, all paid by government, just said 'not my department, talk to these guys' - I don't believe I'd ever have any support were something more serious to happen.
So, with all that, I just really want to leave. I feel like a third class citizen. A lot of my needs are unmet. And now knowing that If someone was to assault me or threaten me, no institutions would act... I also lost all sense of safety
So, please help me pick out the next country!!
A bit more about myself: I'm 24. I have little formal education but I'm a product lead at a start-up and a research consultant bringing knowledge to companies. I make 20-40k/y from my freelance side hussle (1day/week) which is 100% remote, and I get paid 70k cash + half that in vesting at the start-up (that's why I have to wait 1-2 years before moving). I have good savings, so I can afford most countries, maybe except Switzerland or Norway.
Personally, I'm really into running, cycling, hiking and camping. I love being out in nature. I own a mountain bike that has been underused heavily last couple of years. I also have a small garden and urban gardening is becoming my next big hobby. I'd say I'm mostly extraverted but I don't drink alcohol and I have sleep schedule of a granny. So no parties, but I do like being out with people a lot, just sharing stories or working on a shared project. I want to experience that more. I'm a huge foodie and love cooking with others. I'm also into anything geeky and nerdy. Sign me up for board game night, hobby drone building or a Hackathon.
I'm quite sensitive to cold weather and do have seasonal depression + ADHD. Also my health is not the best, with recurring digestive issues. So I don't think I could really do super remote or cold places.
What I'm looking for in a country: - I can get by with English in my first year and there is already a solid international community - access to nature, Ideally with some mountains nearby - ok salary to cost of living ratio; jobs don't have hard requirements for local language or education - third spaces, non-party events and clubs in abundance, willing to accept expats - LGBTQ safety, access to trans-care and existing local communities - decent healthcare or private healthcare (I don't mind paying a lot at all!) - either low taxes, or decent government support structures (i.e. social workers willing to help, great public infrastructure)
I'm open to any and all input. I genuinely just don't know what the direction of my next step should be. I was thinking about a blue state in the US, I was considering Ireland and Prague. But honestly no idea what would fit me, if anywhere at all
Please help!

2023.06.04 10:57 thegreendog4 Dinamo Bucharest - The craziest football story you've never heard of (one final update)

Hello once again. No, I'm still not shutting up about this. The end of the 2022-2023 season is drawing to a close and I just felt like letting you know how it ended for Dinamo Bucharest. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, I wrote a series of posts on this subreddit about the history of Dinamo Bucharest (the craziest football story, bla bla bla). If you are curious to find out about it, I will link parts 1, 2, and 3 for you, along with the update that I posted back in the middle of May. This one right here is meant to wrap up the whole thing, one final update on what's been going on at Dinamo Bucharest. And no, no one asked to but I'm doing it anyway.

The last fixture

So, the last time I told you about your (now) favorite Romanian football club, we still had one more match to play in the Romanian Second League playoff. We were tied on points with Otelul Galati and if we could get a better result than them in the last fixture, we would be promoted back to Romania's top flight. Our opponents in the last match would be the leaders and already promoted side, Poli Iasi. They won the playoff by a landslide, having an 8-point lead over second-placed Steaua before the last game and they also allowed 10 of their players to go on vacation earlier, some of whom were regular starters. So in theory, Dinamo had a pretty easy job of obtaining the 3 points that we needed. All that was left was to hope that Otelul wouldn't win their match against 6th-placed Unirea Dej.
However, real life isn't always as easy as it is on paper. Dinamo started the match poorly, conceding in the 8th minute due to a clumsy mistake from our goalkeeper, who literally passed to ball to the opposing striker. Poli Iasi then made it 2-0 after some more chaotic defending from us. We managed to get one back, however, in the 23rd minute and the score at halftime was 2-1. We even had a free kick near the end of the first 45 minutes, but we sadly hit the crossbar. Everyone believed that we would bounce back in the second half as, again, Poli Iasi had nothing to fight for anymore and our determination would be enough to turn the tables on them.
But, once again, reality hit us like a ton of bricks and the home team made it 3-1 in the 49th minute. Dinamo were completely dominated for the rest of the game and even conceded a 4th goal with ten minutes left to play, losing the game 4-1. This came as a huge disappointment to a lot of people, as many of us believed it was finally time for lady luck to be on our side for once. But in the end, we couldn't get the job done. Again. Luckily, at least Otelul won their match as well, defeating Unirea Dej 1-0 at home. Why luckily? Because at least the players wouldn't have to live with the thought that if they had won, they would've been promoted. At least this way, their result was irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
The most worrying aspect of them all was regarding the players' morale, as the promotion/relegation tie was going to take place about a week later, so they needed to forget this failure and focus on what was to come. It would be the second year in a row when Dinamo would find themselves in such a tie, only this time they would try to climb back up in the Romanian First League, rather than fighting to stay up. Our dance partner was going to be former 2-time Romanian champions, FC Arges Pitesti.

Promotion battle: the first leg

The first match took place in Bucharest at the largest stadium in the country, the National Arena, in front of a crowd of 25.000 strong. The fans were hopeful, but optimism wasn't exactly at an all-time high, as we were clear underdogs for this bout. We had what looked like a weaker squad and very little experience in playing against first-league teams. What Dinamo did have was a lot of heart and the support of thousands of people in the stands. They sang loudly even before the match began, in an effort to both encourage our team and intimidate the opposition, who weren't used to playing in front of large audiences.
We had our first corner of the match in the 15th minute. The cross was aimed at the near post, and our player there deflected it to the far post for a teammate who headed it in, and just like that, we opened the score. 9 minutes later, we got a free kick from about 30 meters out. The shot hit the wall and bounced inside the box toward one of our players, who tapped it in to make it 2-0. It all seemed too good to be true, but Dinamo was actually dominating the match.
in the 28th minute, FC Arges gave away an easy ball close to their box, allowing striker Alexandru Pop to score with a sublime goal from the 18-yard line. With five minutes left to play in the first half, French midfielder Lamine Ghezali received a ball near the center of the pitch and went on a solo run, dribbling past two opposition players and then scoring with a slick lobbed ball of his own. No one could believe what they were seeing. Dinamo was leading 4-0 at halftime. FC Arges' players were in shock. They had a huge chance themselves shortly after Dinamo opened the score, but conceding that second goal messed them up completely, being incapable of any sort of reaction from that point until the end of the first half. Dinamo was like a hungry beast that smelled its prey's blood, being absolutely relentless and attacking with everything they had.
FC Arges did look like they were bouncing back in the 2nd half though, even pulling one back after 10 minutes of play. Fans may have been a bit fearful of an away team comeback at this point, but it wasn't to be. In the 56th minute, Spanish midfielder Dani Iglesias tried his luck with a long-range effort, which got deflected by an FC Arges player into his own net, bringing the goal difference back to 4. Six minutes later, Ghezali did a wonderful give-and-go pass near the middle of the pitch, sprinted toward the FC Arges box, and slotted it in calmly, making the score 6-1.
Dinamo had a few more chances after this through players that were brought on during the match, but their eagerness to score themselves instead of offering simple assists for their teammates ruined said opportunities. FC Arges could've scored as well toward the end but only hit the crossbar with a shot from the edge of the box. After 90-something minutes of play, the ref blew his whistle and Dinamo won the match 6-1.
This was by far the best match we've played all season. Despite going up against what seemed like a stronger side, the boys kept their cool, played like a real team, and won the game in dominating fashion. For the first time in who knows how long, fate finally seemed to be on our side. We only had like 2 misses the entire match. Almost every shot that we attempted went in. It was a more-than-perfect result for us. However, we were not done yet, as we still had the second leg to play.

Roles reversed

A year ago Dinamo played their first promotion/relegation tie, which they lost. Back then, we barely looked like a team. There was just a group of people brought together to play football, with no chemistry, no team bonding, nothing. The atmosphere at the club was horrendous, we played terribly and deserved to get relegated. This time it was different. We looked not just like a real team, but a family. We now had an identity, a style of play, and for the first time since the '15-'16 season, a head coach who would spend a complete season in charge. The hellfire that was the second league cleansed us of a lot of dead weight. We now only had people at the club who were all fighting for the same purpose. We no longer had "big names", there wasn't a "him" at the club anymore, there was only "us".
On the other side, there was FC Arges who were in the same position that we were last year. They reached the promotion/relegation tie in the last second, narrowly avoiding a direct fall. They went into the first match away from home, lost, and were now afraid of going down. And just like Dinamo last year, the atmosphere over there was abysmal.
One of their players, Andreas Calcan, got interviewed after the match and at one point told the reporters "Maybe you should ask our foreign players what they think about this result." This clearly indicated that there was a rift between their players and were not all on the same page. During the match, one of FC Arges' players was brought off when the score was already 6-1. He could then be seen on the touchline kicking a water bottle and trying to rip his shirt off.
It was also a known fact among Romanian football fans that FC Arges players had one or two unpaid salaries. However, news broke out after the match that the board paid the wages before the first leg, but only for some players, driving an even bigger wedge between them. But wait, there's more!
FC Arges was lucky enough to receive state funding for rebuilding their stadium. Every legal aspect was taken care of, so their second match against Dinamo was going to be the last match they ever played on their old home ground. However, given that they were thrashed 6-1 in the first leg and were unlikely to turn things around, they probably didn't want their last ever match there to be one where they got relegated. So they moved the event to a different city altogether, claiming that their stadium's floodlights weren't working.
The day before the second match, things reached an even more ridiculous point. FC Arges sent an official letter to the Romanian Football Federation asking them to withdraw Dinamo's license for the next season, in an effort to remain in the first league. Also, one of their main investors went into a live interview on TV, claiming that they had received "information" that some of their own players got paid to "fix" the first match. This says more about the type of people at FC Arges rather than Dinamo, but I still thought I should mention these aspects just for the sake of it.

Promotion battle: the second leg

The stadium for the second match was filled to the brim. Even though the arena only had about 8000 seats, the atmosphere was red-hot. FC Arges wasted no time and went on the attack from the first minute. In the 14th minute, they had already opened the score through a long-range effort courtesy of their team captain, that got deflected off of a Dinamo player. The very next minute, Arges made it 2-0 after a counter-attack. Some minutes later, they had two more huge opportunities, but both efforts went over the bar.
Things weren't looking bright, as Dinamo was in the ropes. Though we had a 5-goal advantage from the first leg, it was already clear that nothing was decided yet. Luckily, we managed to calm things down by lowering the tempo of the game and keeping possession of the ball. Dinamo even scored in the 40th minute through the one and only Ghezali, by far our best player this season. The score at halftime was 2-1. There were 45 more minutes of purgatory to endure.
Shortly after the second half began, FC Arges made it 3-1 after a corner kick. In the 51st minute, following another corner, it was already 4-1. It was bad. FC Arges were more and more determined to turn things around and Dinamo weren't looking like they could weather the storm. Forget Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund bottling their league titles. If we would somehow lose this tie after winning 6-1 in the first leg, we would be the laughingstock of the world.
Right when things were seemingly going in FC Arges' direction, Andreas Calcan, the player who subtly criticized his foreign teammates after the first match, got a second yellow card and was sent off in the 55th minute. This completely killed his team's drive and they even conceded a second goal five minutes later. Arges tried to stay on the attack, but that spark from the beginning of the half wasn't there anymore. In the 94th minute, the ref blew for full-time to make it official: DINAMO IS BACK IN THE FIRST LEAGUE!

Celebration after the second leg against FC Arges
It was a weird season, to say the least. We started off with a terrible run, losing 5 times within the first 7 matches, and were hoping to at least avoid relegation to the 3rd tier or bankruptcy. We had even less money than the previous year, we weren't allowed to sign any players during the winter break, we couldn't afford to pay the salaries of the ones who were already at the club, and it looked like we were never going to get rid of our former owner, Dorin Serdean.
However, this is where we can remember a message displayed by our supporters a number of years ago: "True defeat is giving up on your dreams." And that's the most important thing that we never did. We never gave up (jeez, I'm starting to sound like John Cena.) Even when the situation looked like it couldn't get any worse, we kept the hope alive. Not the hope for promotion as that seemed like a fantasy, but the hope of keeping Dinamo alive.
We, the fans, kept going to matches, donating money, and doing whatever was in our power to "keep the engine running". The players, the coaches, the employees, everyone at the club kept doing their job as best as they could, even though there were months when they received no payment for their work. Their devotion through these hard times was immeasurable and we could never thank them enough for believing in the cause until the very end.
As cliche as it may sound, this is what happens when you don't give up and keep working hard. We hit rock bottom but through our collective effort and, I need to say it, a LOT of luck, we pulled through in the end and turned fantasy into reality. We got the promotion, we now are hoping to get financial stability, and then finally start making progress and get back to the top of the league. Though the recent years have been dreadful we did not forget about the good times, and the thought of reliving them one day is what kept us alive.

A story ends, and another one begins

And this is where we end things. This has been the story of Dinamo Bucharest, the craziest football story you've never heard of...until now. Sure our story will continue long after this post of mine, but this is where (hopefully) the "crazy" part of it has reached its conclusion. We now have new ownership, new management, people who (again, hopefully) will start investing serious funds into Dinamo and bring it back to glory. We will HOPEFULLY enter a new era, one of normality. One where we will mostly be talking about football and not scandals. But, if things do go south again (God, please no), I may just return and let you know about it. Sure, scandals will still pop up here and there, we are in Romania after all but, (for the last time) hopefully, we won't be hearing about arrests, backstabbing, fraud, mutiny, throwing matches, or owners who can't/ won't invest at the club ever again.
For one last time, thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoyed it.

2023.06.04 10:51 Waterbuffaloyo I dont think I love my partner anymore

I [32M] met my partner [29F] off hinge. And at first there were sparks. To be honest, I didnt even think I would land them, I spat out random game and they took the hook.
That being said I had also entered a point in my life where I felt like honesty was the key. So I was honest with them about alot of things I am not usually. My financial situation (living in my parents basement), my mental problems (i have a sex addiction and ive cheated in every relationship) and my desire to be poly/ in a local not long distance relationship.
They were accepting and understanding which gave me hope. It was in the first few weeks we had sex and they confided in me later that they had herpes. ( i know most of the population has it and not a deal breaker of itself, but felt fucked up they lied.) I mysef, despite my addictions test clean, regardless, I move past it and forgive them.
Their job, I later learned, was a live in caretaker for people with addictions. So despite me wanting a local relationship, I liked them enough to at least try the very thing I didnt want. They are here for a month and then are gone for a month. And I do have good times with them, but i am also already very lonely. And when im lonely I act out with my sexual addictions.
Then on top of that after dating for a month they decide theyre not comfortable being poly. Which ok, I have a sex addiction and am trying to battle with what actions I can engage in safely, and what will trigger worse behaviors. So i agree to this, but under pressure or turmoil I cheat on them...alot. I have confessed all of my infidelities to them, because despite being someone who jumps on any sexual advance to fill a void, i am not trying to hurt people nor did i want to be in a relationship where sexual expression with others would be an issue.
When I suggest making it poly they refuse. They say its just my addiction acting up and not to heed it.
I feel like ive slowly been discovering negatives about them that they have been hiding. And i find myself at a crossroads of; what is acceptable rough patches and things I should toughen out for a bright future, or am I being manipulated and used.
She makes alot more money than me, and kinda uses it against me. We got into a fight tonight and she started yelling that she brought me colorado! (Were here for a family wedding, where I had to spend more money than I wouldve wanted to be presentable) I feel like i bend over backwards alot for her, whether it be cleaning the house, buying her food she wants despite us having food at home and coddling her. (Which is not an issue of itself but I take my free time to learn skills I want to enter my dream career, and i feel like she doesnt respect it, will ask me to spend time doing stuff for her then get mad when I take time for me.)
She can get drunk from time to time and become very self centered and mean. All of her towney friends, while nice, do so much coke, a drug i rather stay away from, and it saddens me. Her and her brother are weirdly close and kinda just go hard with alcohol with no care for how it affects others. I was sick from the party and have to share a room with them. Theyve litterally been blasting music for 5 hours. Even when i asked them to stop. And i feel like shes talked down to me in front of friends before to.
I want to love them. They sold me on a fantasy of being my wife, and having kids. But the more I spend time with them, I dont know. What should I do? We have been together nearing 2 years now, and live together. But tonight I felt treated like an accessory, and I dont know if I can view them the same.

2023.06.04 10:43 Chazzicle Is there a way to have a wait until not pressed function?

I am making a flappy bird esque game and I want to make it so you can't just hold down the jump button and fly. I am using classes and I can't seem to get Key down and key up to work. Code bellow:
import pygame from sys import exit class Player(pygame.sprite.Sprite): def __init__(self): super().__init__() self.image = pygame.image.load('graphics/thesevinator.png').convert_alpha() self.rect = self.image.get_rect(center=(280, 360)) self.gravity = 0 def player_input(self): keys = pygame.key.get_pressed() if keys[pygame.K_SPACE]: self.gravity = -20 def apply_gravity(self): self.gravity += 1 self.rect.y += 2 self.rect.y += self.gravity def update(self): self.player_input() self.apply_gravity() pygame.init() screen = pygame.display.set_mode((1280, 720)) pygame.display.set_caption('Flappy Seven') clock = pygame.time.Clock() font_ = pygame.font.Font(None, 50) player = pygame.sprite.GroupSingle() player.add(Player()) sky_surf = pygame.image.load('graphics/sky.png').convert() text_surf = font_.render('Flappy Seven', True, 'Yellow') text_hb = text_surf.get_rect(center=(640, 90)) while True: for event in pygame.event.get(): if event.type == pygame.QUIT: pygame.quit() exit() screen.blit(sky_surf, (0, 0)) box = pygame.draw.rect(screen, '#000000', text_hb) outline_b = box.inflate(7, 7) pygame.draw.rect(screen, 'Black', outline_b, 5) outline = box.inflate(26, 26) pygame.draw.rect(screen, 'Yellow', outline, 10, 7) screen.blit(text_surf, text_hb) player.draw(screen) player.update() pygame.display.update() clock.tick(60)

2023.06.04 10:40 Putrid-Ad849 I don't want decor or flowers despite big budget?

Hi Weddit!
I'm getting married in late Summer at a hotel on the beach in Cape Cod. Our reception will be at the venue's beautiful but bare bones restaurant. We have a very generous and flexible budget and could spend money on a florist and decorations and all that kind of stuff, but I'm not sure I want to.
I initially wanted a very chill wedding but it has turned into a 3-day party with 220 guests. I didn't hire a wedding planner because I thought it would be chiller and I'm a very good planner and organizer so it seemed like a waste of money.
The venue for the wedding/reception says that when the wedding is over at 10:30, they will pack up all the decor into boxes and then we will need to move those boxes out of the hotel's main area. I'm a bit annoyed with this because we are spending the most money possible at their venue (most guests they can fit, most expensive meal option, open bar), and it sounds like at 10:30 sharp someone is going to come ask my family to do chores.
This kind of sounds like a headache, and even preparing and bringing the decorations sounds like a headache and not the easiest or most fun way for me to spend the day. The decor I was thinking of was to do like a million candles of different heights at each table. But maybe that would be extra annoying because the venue would be clearing candles off the tables for a really long time during the end of the wedding.
Is it crazy to have a super expensive, 3-day wedding and no flowers or centerpieces or decorations? I will have a bouquet cut from my MIL's garden.
Separately, should I ask the venue if I can pay for an extra hour? We had a choice to start at 5 and end at 10:30 or start at 6 and end at 11:30. We chose 5 to time photos with the sunset. Clearly they can work until 11:30, is it normal to ask to extend a venue's time? I want to respect that maybe they don't want to ask their staff to work a 6.5 hour wedding instead of 5.5, so is it rude to ask?
Thanks!

However we are worried about timing as we won’t be able to get there to 2pm and it closes at 5.
Do you think this is enough time to go through the house and the gardens??

2023.06.04 10:15 goofymary A letter to everything and everyone that hurts me

I release you. I let you go. It just hurts to hold on and it hurts to be attached. By holding on, my biggest fears come true. I am not special or important. I am not valuable. When I feel like that I feel destroyed sometimes. So, I need to let you go. So I don't destroy myself anymore. The guidance isn't from the outside world. I don't need your advice. I need my own advice. It's in me through the decision of choosing what's best for myself over and over again until there's a life in front of me that is one that I like and can be proud of. I don't make good choices. But that's only because I didn't have myself as the person that should benefit the most from the experience. Thrills are not good for me. Vegetables over candies and chocolates. I can fill my life with: Sunlight and walks. Positive movies. Cute dogs. Gardening. Ocean air. Lazily sitting on a lawn chair contemplating reading the casual book in my lap. I desire to be sweet and good but shrewd and not naive. Why does my desire to understand things backfire on me? It really is as if the less you know the better.

2023.06.04 10:13 TeLegends27 Is it common to pay for Rec Center fees? Not from here sorry if question seems silly

I’m from Cali and I’ve traveled all of Socal playing basketball all my life. All rec centers I’ve ever been to have been free indoors except 1. I’m not talking about specific Basketball only gyms or leagues or YMCA’s I’m talking about open Gym rec center games. Is in colorado in general treat rec centers like YMCA’s or is this common? I always thought rec centers were free until I had to go pay 5 bucks for one lol in cali. I’ve been to a few Fort Collin recs, and a 1 Denver rec so far to go hoop and I’ve had to pay. Is it like I’m just going to the ones that charge or is this something I’ll see everywhere

2023.06.04 10:13 Dragon-King001 Battletech fan with questions/requests/comments

Hey all, bigtime Battletech fan here who only recently got into the franchise. I started with the old Battletech cartoon, then the self-titled Battletech strategy game, and finally the PGI Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries game. I have a bunch of different questions and requests for you fine folks at CGL.
  1. (Request) As a fan of the Battletech cartoon, I have always wondered what the conclusion would have been to that unfinished, under-rated gem of a show. As a fan-fiction writer, I have also done a little bit in that, BUT I have always been curious what the official CGL version would have looked like on television. I would love it if CGL would consider remaking the old show for modern audiences with its' violent-but-bloodless nature and this time, bring it to its' conclusion if at all possible.
  2. Here's a question for you CGL folks: A couple years back, Harmony Gold FINALLY came to a deal with Big West and Tatsunoko Productions about Macross and Robotech. (And yes, I am a big fan of both Robotech and Battletech.) Was Battletech part of that deal? Can the Unseen 'mechs from Macross and Robotech finally be declared Re-Seen? (I apologize if this question is too incindiary, I know the Battletech/Robotech feud is friggin' HUGE in this community and the LAST thing I want to do is stir up trouble.)
  3. EDIT: Remembered my third question. It's about the Battletech Centers, which for those who don't remember or are unaware, were highly themed video arcades created by FASA where players could go and play matches against one another. The arcade machines themselves were capsules that were mocked-up to look like mech cockpits, and used six-degree-of-freedom hydraulic actuators to simulate the movement of a mech for real. They were, in essence, Virtual reality before virtual reality. Would CGL consider producing a modernized Battletech Center? Using modern technology and perhaps a licensed copy of either PGI's Mechwarrior Online or Mechwarrior 5 Mercs for co-op missions? Or perhaps offering a DIY simulator kit to build something like this, for home use?
Please consider answering my question and at least saying something about my request.
Sincerely, Kerry

2023.06.04 10:08 Puzzled-Ad-5973 Anyone doing Double Calendar for theta harvesting purpose?

Anyone doing Double Calendar for theta harvesting purpose?
I have been doing 45-60DTE -+ 5~7% double Broken Wing Butterflies with more focus on harvesting theta decay difference between nearer 1x long and middle 2.x short (called body of the butterfly). However, zero initial credit buffer due to recent low IV + nutty one way AI induced rally tests my newly built July butterfly pretty hard and early on.
I have been actively delta hedging with futures so minimum loss so far although if market continues to rally gamma will start kicking in hard. So I'm preparing to adjust some of my tested calls farther out or stop loss altogether.
I also know if this rally just pauses for a while like 2 weeks and give me some time I will get back all of my premium + @ but I came to conclusion that BWB alone is no longer going to be as much successful as it has been in the past 2 years + YTD in such low IV environment...
I find that double calendar provides very similar pnl profile (~ early theta gain at the center -> limited profit shifts outward as time flies by, with higher max profit) whilst much more affordable in today's IV and added protection against IV spike.
I have seen many times to confidently say that calendars are not long vega but close to vega neutral except for post earning/event moment, which I think is good enough.
Anyone doing long term double calendar for such purpose as I'm thinking (harvesting net theta from nearer short). I'm not intending to be spoon fed I just want to get some insight or get to know real life caveats before I really delve into backtest / optimizing strikes and sizing part.
Thanks in advance!

2023.06.04 10:03 ChefEspen A few novice questions

A few novice questions
  1. My zucchini plant is surrounded by flowers, will this crowd it and stunt growth? (Damaged leaves happened after transplant, it is getting new nice leaves so it will survive..)
  2. This has appeared a few places in the garden, and since I am pretty new to this I don't even know how the sprouts of the different vegetables I have planted are supposed to look... Weed or veggie?
  3. Savoy cabbage is getting large but not creating a head, temperature is 20°c in day and 10°c in night - part sun/part shade - should I harvest leaves or wait? 🤷
  4. My artichoke plant is not really growing, it has grown maybe a cm in a month.. rootbound, too cold still? Any thoughts?
  5. Same thing with some of my pepper plants, still tiny and not really grown any since transplant.
  6. Two out of my twelve tomato plants has started to get brown dry-ish leaves. The others are ok. All of them got the same hardening, treatment, sun and water. Any idea what is causing it?
Hope anyone has any thoughts & knowledge to share 🙂 thanks
