Back in 2007ish I was dating a girl (total babe by the way)…and her mom said they had a stack of old guitars out in their storage room if I ever wanted to play any. I dug through them and it was mainly Yamaha’s and a Martin copy or two. At the bottom of the stack was a well worn in case. Opened it, and BAM! This Gibson. Threw some new strings on it and it was an awesome guitar. A few years later, in 2010, I ended up joining the Army (and marrying that total babe) and the Gibson (and one of the Yamaha’s) was given to me as a wedding gift. It’ll be a great one to pass on to one of my boys.

2023.05.30 16:07 TheBlackUnicorn Everything that went wrong in my four years of owning a Tesla Model S

Hi everyone! I posted earlier about my decision to buy a Toyota Tacoma to replace my S (I have not traded the S in, I got the Tacoma yesterday and I'm currently waiting on repairs from Tesla before I sell the S).
I suggested in the comment thread that I'd do a post about EVERYTHING that went wrong with that car. So let's buckle up because here we go.
I bought the car CPO from Tesla in June of 2019, it is a 2016 75D/"Standard Range" S. The car is a relatively rare build because Tesla upgraded to Autopilot 2 hardware in October of '16 and removed the free unlimited supercharging perk in January of '17 (or roughly around that time). My car came down the line in November of '16 so it's one of very few Ses that has both these features. The first time I took it into the Service Center I was told by a technician (who does not drive a Tesla as his personal vehicle) that this particular run of Ses was one of the best batch he'd ever seen. Oh boy let's see how great this batch is.

Heated steering wheel

The first thing that went wrong with the car was actually broken from the time I bought it, but I didn't notice for a few months because it was the heated steering wheel. Winter '19/'20 set in and I realized the steering wheel wasn't warming up. I took it in for warranty repair and they found it was simply unplugged, this was free.

Trunk latch

In the summer of 2020, amid the COVID lockdowns, one day the trunk failed to latch and was stuck open. I tried pulling the emergency release but that did nothing. I scheduled a mobile appointment (which I will give Tesla credit for, very few car companies make housecalls), and the technician was also unable to get the trunk to latch. So I scheduled a service center appointment and had to drive with the trunk open for a couple weeks, this made an annoying beeping noise and prevented me from using ANY cruise control, let alone "Autopilot" (or "Full-Self Driving", I actually got grandfathered into the offer to upgrade from EAP to FSD for $3000 so I pulled the trigger on that, I have not requested the FSD Beta because it looks like a death machine to me).
Amazingly during my drive to the service center the trunk magically fixed itself. I wasn't about to turn around and go home since I figured the part could still be faulty, so I asked them to look at it anyway. Since they didn't see anything wrong they charged me over $500 to replace the components. This was my first repair bill.

First collision repair

A couple months later I was rear-ended by a teenager and she did a bunch of damage to the back of the car, this was one of my most seamless issues with the car, I took it to a local collision repair shop and they had it back to me within 3 days, all of these costs were paid by insurance.

MCU2 Upgrade

At some point I took the car in for them to replace the MCU (the 17" touchscreen) with the newer one so I could get Netflix and YouTube on my center screen. This was an optional service center visit, though the original MCU was REALLY starting to chug on newer Tesla software. The replacement cost $1600 and they did not put in a new AM/FM radio (that would have been an additional $500 and I don't listen to the radio much anyway). I was actually kind of happy that I could have the option to upgrade this tech, but if MCU2 winds up being as sluggish as MCU1 was when it was just 4-5 years old this seems like an extra non-optional cost.

12V Battery Replacement

In the summer of 2021 I got the error "12V BATTERY LOW SCHEDULE SERVICE NOW". That seemed really urgent, so I went on YouTube and searched for this error and found out that James May got the same issue. TL;DW the 12V system is powered primarily by a DC-to-DC converter from the main battery, but when the main battery disconnects there's a small 12V (like one you'd use in a motorcycle) that is needed to power on the actuators that connect the main battery. If the 12V goes flat the car is bricked and, because the 12V is under the frunk and the frunk is electronically actuated, the only way to get to the 12V to trickle charge it is to partially dismantle the car.
In fact, I was lucky to get a warning at all some Teslas have had this happen with no warning and in fact it was a software update that even added the warning. And in fact a lot of early Teslas failed within a year because for some reason they charge and discharge the 12V like mad. I hope they've improved this since this blog post, but anyway this is a serious design defect.
Tesla did the right thing here and got me into service the next day AND I got the car back within 90 minutes. This is the fastest turnaround time I've ever seen from them, however I'm fairly certain that if my car was no longer under warranty (meaning they would not be responsible for paying to tow it to the service center) I would not have gotten such white glove treatment.

Suspension issue

In 2022 I read the book Ludicrous: The Unvarnished Story of Tesla Motors by Ed Niedermeyer. From this book I learned about whompy wheels and learned a rumor that many Teslas were built with cheap aluminum suspensions that tend to fail. China forced Tesla to do a recall on cars built in the US and exported to China.
I frantically drove to my local tire shop and asked them to look at the suspension, they reported that it looked to be in good condition but that there was a leak in the hydraulic fluid that Tesla should repair under warranty. I took the car to Tesla and they had it for SIX DAYS during which I had to rely on their Uber vouchers (Tesla only recently started doing loaners in my area, it might be because I live in a very obscure remote place called New York City /s). They reported to me that nothing was wrong with the suspension and returned the car, completely filthy since they'd left it parked under a tree.

Windshield replacement

In late 2022 I decided to save some money by replacing my wiper blades myself. While the blade arms were out one of the springs came loose and smashed into the windshield. It took me about a week to get the wiper back on, I tried every tool in my toolbox and eventually just took it to the tire shop where they put in a vice and got it to reconnect. They did this for free. Over the winter of '22/'23 however the damage to the windshield escalated into a crack. This is mostly my own stupid fault, I probably could have prevented this crack from growing with a cheapo Amazon glass repair kit, but none of the other cars I've ever driven have had something this nuts happen.
I took the car to a local glass repair shop and the owner told me I needed a full new windshield. He called Tesla to confirm the part number and order it, they did not pick up the phone. I was out of the country for about a month so I left this to pick up when I returned. I just went to SafeLite since I assumed they had more staff to pester Tesla to send them the windshield. Dropped off my car, they called me and said they had to wait a couple weeks for the windshield to ship. About a week later I dropped off the car AGAIN and they replaced the windshield.
This cost me another $500 out of pocket and the rest (about $700) was covered by insurance.

Door replacement collision repair

On March 7th 2023 a kid jumped a stop sign and crashed into my driver's side door, he put a huge dent in it and the door handle got stuck in the presenting position. Because he was not the policyholder* his insurance could not establish that he had permission to drive the vehicle and said they would not pay for the repair, so I again had to go through my insurance meaning I couldn't get a loaner.
It took Tesla TWO WEEKS to ship a new door to the only local Tesla-certified collision repair center in my area (this was about a 30 minute drive and I had to Uber both ways since there was no nearby public transit). When I got the car back there was an obnoxious amount of wind noise, I found they had misaligned the new window with the weather stripping. I brought the car back to them and they tooled around enough to get the wind noise down to a lower level, but it is still not gone. I did find I could jam some paper into the weather stripping and shim it up to prevent a little bit of noise.
This was a $500 out of pocket cost (which I may get back through insurance arbitration) and the cost to the insurance was a whopping $4700!

The HVAC filter, radars, and AC

Now we come to the straw that broke the camel's back. I noticed in the manual recently that my car is due for a replacement of the HVAC filter. They're fairly cheap on Amazon, so I figured I'd try doing it myself again. My wife talked me out of this due to what happened with the wiper blades. Additionally the HVAC system has a desicant bag that needs to be replaced periodically (like one of those sillica gel packets), and that requires a special machine.
So I scheduled a service center visit, they informed me my car was also eligible for a free upgrade to the autopilot cameras. I dropped off the car and for the first time in FOUR YEARS they gave me a loaner, a lease-return Model Y that presumably they couldn't find a buyer for (this car was a complete shitbox but that's a whole other story).
They said they would take FIVE DAYS to do this quick 30 minute job of replacing the HVAC filters. I also tried phoning them to ask if they could take a look at the wind noise from the previous repair, there was a message on the phone that told me I need to do all communication with them through the app. I messaged in the app, they did not respond.
Amazingly I got the car back after just FOUR days, but I was informed they did not look at the wind noise because it wasn't on the original list of things, and I would need to book ANOTHER appointment and wait ANOTHER two weeks for that.
After I got the car back, however, I realized that they did not merely "upgrade" the Autopilot cameras. They removed the Autopilot radar. I know they did it because now my follow distance bottoms out at 2 and I now have an 85mi/hr Autosteer speed limit. By the way, unlike the 3 and Y the Autopilot follow distance control in the S is a physical click-knob. So I can click it to 7,6,5,4,3,2 and 2. Like they replaced the bottom position with a second "2".
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!
The HVAC is now blowing hot air. Every time I turn on the AC the car blasts me in the face with hot air and the compressor goes nuts. I assume this means the coolant is low (since it seems to have some ability to cool but is struggling a LOT).
So that's the end of our story. That's everything that's happened to this car so far. And where are we now? I have an appointment with service to fix the remaining problems and YESTERDAY I bought a 2020 Toyota Tacoma which GET THIS has a radar adaptive cruise control! No fancy "Autopilot" or "Autosteer", but it has lane departure warning which is enough to keep me awake on a long nighttime drive.
The biggest open secret about "Autopilot" and "FSD" is that they're mostly off-the-shelf components. Rather than building a self-driving car what Tesla actually did was take standard driver-assistance cruise control features and mash them together pretending they're something magical.
*This was a frankly ridiculous claim on the part of his insurance since his mother was the policyholder and the police report documents that she was sitting in the passenger's seat at the time of the collision. So I guess their position is that she was in the process of being kidnapped.
If you ever get into a crash like this make sure to take out your phone, take a video, and say "Do you have his/her permission to drive this vehicle?" If they say no just turn to the police and say it's a stolen vehicle and it needs to be impounded.

2023.05.30 16:06 Scoochmalooch [Help Required] Orange internet light appearing on one of 2 separate routers

Apologies if my post title is not accurate enough, and thanks for the help in advance!
Currently have 2 other separate routers (let's call it A and B for simplicity) connected to a central router that is connected to a modem, one of the separate routers (A) keeps having the orange internet light (every other day), however, the internet from the central router and the separate router (B) are both working fine.
Typically, the issue can be resolved by restarting the central router. However, as this issue is getting more frequent, thus any help would be appreciated. Router A has recently been replaced as I initially thought it was issue that the previous router A was too old (roughly 8 years or so). Thus am now wondering if it might be an issue with the cable wiring to the eternet port at router A.
Router A: TPlink AX10 ; I have utilised most if not all the fixes provided by Tp Link (cloning WAN address, updating the software, etc.)
TLDR, need help as to why only one router (router A) keeps having an orange internet light despite the main router and router B being fine.
Thanks again for the help provided!

Hi. I'm looking to talk to new people, maybe make a friend
They are:
History, especially the 19th-20th century but with more broad and general knowedge in other time periods. I'm not an expert or anything but I am pretty passionate about it and tend to read/listen about one event or the other on a pretty regular basis.
Literature, especially old novels. I recently read Demian (my all time favourite book), Day of the Oprichnik, Heart of Darkness, the Perfume and Little Prince. Currently started reading Blood Meridian. Some of my other favourite works would include: "The Picture of Dorian Gray", "Faust part I" (need to get to part II) and "No Longer Human". I also like to write short stories and book reviews.
Languages. I know three, with one being a bit rusty. I'm currently working to scrape off the rust and then when I'm finished with that will begin to learn a fourth language. It's fun to go through different works in multiple languages. For example, I read the aforementioned Faust part I in all three.
Games. I recently played Cyberpunk 2077. Now that the dust has settled and the bugs mostly removed...It's not that bad! The main questline at least, Fallout 76 (Very average, I'm dissapointed with what they made the "RPG" system) and will try out Deus Ex Manking Divided again ( Got inspired since it's somewhat similar to Cyberpunk). I was waiting to play Elden Ring but it ended being too stressful for me. Go here and get beaten up go there and get beaten up, repeat...Besides that I'm a big fan of Paradox strategy games...like EU IV and HoI IV (also thinking of making my own project for HoI IV). I am definitely looking forward to try out Victoria III, after they add more content to it. I also got Modern Warfare 2, since the first MW had great multiplayer gameplay.
Anime and Manga. In recent times my interest has waned but I still watch the occasional series here and there. Like Cyberpunk Edgerunners (Which I found to be rather mediocre) and the very good new season of Bleach. Some other favourites include: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Death Note, Fate;Zero, Psycho Pass , Higurashi (season 2 is a bit weak but the first one is a masterpiece of horror), Code Geass, Attack on Titan and others. My favourite Manga is Berserk...I hope it gets a good ending..the first couple of new chapters were...a bit rough but the new author seems to have got his footing.
Anyway, that should be enough information to give you a good picture... Before I go, I would like to ask for you to include the title of the last book you read in your reply. A small request, I feel. I'll be ignoring those that don't.

2023.05.30 15:58 AnonymousTruths1979 How much trauma do you have from small comments before coming out?

Quick overview: Me 43 cis female, Daughter 14, MTF, out for a couple of years, socially transitioned and puberty blockers; She also has autism and struggles communicating, even more so when she was little. Transition has been super smooth, daughter has never been misgendered, school is ultra supportive, we are blessed, and usually I'm extremely aware of that.
But...
Daughter was hyper-masculine when she was younger. Like... aggressively, deliberately masculine. And she has big eyes and long lashes and curly hair, and I can remember a hundred tiny moments before she came out when someone would go, like, "oh, she's so cute, what's her name?"
And like... because my child was mostly non-verbal, I was super cued in to barely perceptible indicators of distress... my baby's shoulders tensed or eyes flickered, or a small hand movement... whatever.
So people would say these things and my kiddo would tense up, and I'd very firmly correct them. "His name is "Kiddo". He is 3 years old." Which is... fine? Right? Except now my kiddo's name is "Daughter" and she has always been a girl.
So I was misgendering my child? Was it wrong to "correct" people before she'd come out?!
Or like... I've never enforced any sort of ... idk... "gender norms"? Like... I remember when Daughter was about 6 years old, she had this Barbie doll she'd carried around since she was 2. And she's going through her toys for spring cleaning/donations, and she says "Barbies are for girls."
I say "Are they?"
And she says "I'm going to give Barbie to the girl babies." (She called donating outgrown toys "giving toys to the babies")
So I say "You play with Barbie a lot. You might miss her. But it's your toy and you can decide."
And she says "yeah, Barbie is for girl babies." and donates it.
When she first came out she had essentially stopped playing with toys, almost entirely, but one of the first things she wanted was a Barbie doll, and she picked the exact Barbie she'd had when she was little.
Should I have fought harder for Barbie? Called out the stereotype and tried to convince her to keep it?
A friend/neighbor had been over once and the kids were playing in the other room and started bickering ... I think my kiddo was about 7 or 8 and hers was about 5 or 6? And they'd been roughhousing and her daughter fell and got a scrape, and she says "she's much smaller than you because she's younger and she's a girl, so you have to be careful" and normally... don't address my child, I'll handle that, but... at the time it seemed so harmless but...
I don't know wtf is wrong with me today, because normally I'm really forward-focused, but I have been hyper-focusing on these "little things" all morning and I'm kinda losing it... like...
I've already asked her, casually, before about if an instant like that bothered her, and she just shrugged her shoulders, and I don't want to push her to talk about things she doesn't want to talk about so I just haven't brought it up again but...
Is this stuff she's going to remember and be hurt by .... like...
I guess the main question is like... How much did you think about these sorts of moments before you came out vs after, vs after reaching a point where you're comfortable after transitioning...?
I know everyone is different and ya'll can't say if she's gonna be permanently traumatized or w/e but like... shared experiences are a thing, and I guess I'm just trying to get an idea of what she might be dealing with, idk.

2023.05.30 15:58 DutyLanky620 29M seeking situationship advice with 27F around going full on partnership or separate ways

29M from London seeking relationship advice. Met a coworker (27F) and became friends, eventually had sex casually. Continued in a non-committal relationship for a while. She then moved into my flat as my other flatmate moved out and she was looking so made sense to fill the room and overall it has been enjoyable as we do get on really well and have a good time, i also have a great relationship with her cat who now lives in the flat and we've grown very close because I'm more of a home body than her so spend a lot of time with him.
Initially it was all cool, and we were both happy to bench the relationship status kind of questions, however, we eventually had a conversation about not taking the relationship further but left things unresolved. We then went on a 7 week trip together to SE Asia to work from a different timezone because we had it all lined up and didn't want to call it off when we were both excited about it. We decided we'd figure things out properly once we got back. After returning, we revisited the relationship conversation and finally I decided I didn't want a long-term relationship with her because i liked her but didn't like like her and in my head I'm looking for romantic love, which i don't think i have with her, however, i know i do love other parts of her, but i'm likely a little confused.
It's now been a couple more months and we still live together as life as a whole has got in the way with job searching and me going away for a month travelling between jobs. It doesn't feel completely real because we still live together, however the flat contract is ending soon, so things will change suddenly i feel.
I've started trying dating apps for the first time to scratch that itch, which was one of the reasons why I wanted to split things off with her, as i didn't want to be an OAP and not have tried actively dating in my life—maybe something to read into here, as if i was deeply into her, i wouldn't have an urge to explore more, but on the other hand, i had never tried a dating app or really going out my way to date in life.
I have my first date later this week, I'm torn on what to think because of the general situation and the fact we both still talk everyday and kinda feels like we're still in something, rather than split up. We plan on carrying on being friends, that's what we discussed in previous conversations, but it's easy to say that stuff. I have no idea how either of us would feel once the other person starts dating someone new, i imagine it will be tough for one or both of us.We currently still live together, but our living situation will end soon.
I like her a lot but don't love her i don't think(?), mainly due to differences in ambition, physical attraction, and a few other little things. Unsure if lack of love should hold me back as i do love spending time with her and could see us having a fun life together til we're old, but it's just the thing around me not love love'ing her in the way I imagined i would like in movies...this is what's making me question everything, as in a way she's kind of opposite to me in areas, I'm introvert, shes extrovert, I'm more of an overthinker, she's more spontaneous...
we get on so well, but I'm so confused on what to think. we also chat about it and the fact because we ended up getting together as friends and then sleeping together ended up happening organically in a more convenient basis, that there was never that room for love/romance to grow into things and potentially that could need more time. the crazy thing is, we've gone on so many holidays the past couple of years and we never have arguments or anything, so theres clearly alignment of personalities and us being compatible...
am i being too particular or short sighted about what love is? as in reality how often is it that soppy romcom-esque love setup, when really its just the day to day little thingsI know we have had the chats about calling things off, but it doesn't feel sealed for both of us yet so I'm looking to find more clarity before things truly go separate ways or stay together.
Appreciate any input as its an extremely hard decision to make, as i want someone as my life partner, but then obviously want to be logical about how to decide because its probably the biggest decision of my life. Thanks Reddit

2023.05.30 15:54 Jiale88996 Comprehensive Car Insurance: What to Look for in a Policy

Comprehensive Car Insurance: What to Look for in a Policy
Car insurance is a must when financing your new car. One type of car insurance coverage that provides extensive protection is comprehensive car insurance, most lenders will require you to add this coverage option along with collision coverage to lend you the money for your new vehicle.

https://preview.redd.it/ltekcorj4z2b1.jpg?width=2250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5100bd5b0fb53e1d708f3bc49ac97aebb8862a12
In this article, we will explore the key aspects to consider when choosing a comprehensive car insurance policy.

Introduction to Comprehensive Car Insurance

Comprehensive car insurance is a coverage option that will protect your car against non-collision damages. Unlike liability insurance, which covers damages caused to other people's property or injuries in an accident you are responsible for, comprehensive car insurance protects your vehicle from non-collision damages.
The takeaways

  1. Comprehensive car insurance provides extensive protection: Comprehensive car insurance coverage goes beyond liability insurance and protects your vehicle from non-collision damages caused by theft, vandalism, natural disasters, falling objects, and more.
  2. Factors to consider when choosing a policy: When selecting a comprehensive car insurance policy, important factors to consider include deductibles and premiums, coverage limits, additional benefits and riders, the reputation and financial stability of insurance providers, the claims process, and understanding the policy terms and conditions.
  3. Importance of comparing quotes: Obtaining quotes from multiple car insurers and comparing coverage options and premiums is crucial. Providing accurate information to each insurer and selecting the same coverage limits and deductibles will ensure you receive specific and comparable quotes.
  4. Tips for reducing premiums without compromising coverage: To lower insurance premiums without sacrificing coverage, consider increasing deductibles if financially feasible, installing security features in your vehicle, maintaining a good driving record, bundling policies, and inquiring about discounts for safe driving or multiple vehicles insured.
  5. Regular policy review and renewal: It's important to review your comprehensive car insurance policy regularly to ensure it meets your evolving needs. Understanding the renewal process allows you to make necessary adjustments, shop around for better rates, and maintain optimal protection.

Understanding the Coverage Provided by Comprehensive Car Insurance

Comprehensive car insurance typically covers damages resulting from theft, vandalism, fire, natural disasters like tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, and hails; falling objects like tree branches, rocks or debris, and other non-collision incidents. It also includes coverage for broken windshields and windows, as well as damages caused by hitting an animal. This coverage can be especially valuable for individuals living in areas prone to severe weather or high rates of vehicle theft.

Key Factors to Consider When Choosing a Comprehensive Car Insurance Policy

Before selecting a comprehensive car insurance policy, there are several important factors to keep in mind.

Deductibles and Premiums

Deductibles are the amount you agree to pay out of pocket before the comprehensive car insurance coverage starts to work. Choosing a higher deductible can help lower your premiums, but it's important to ensure that the deductible amount is affordable for you in case you must file a claim.
For example, if you set $250 on deductibles, your car insurer believes you will end up filing a claim. That claim will be higher than a normal claim. In that case, your car insurer will try to obtain the money they must pay to repair your car before that accident happens. That’s the main reason why low deductibles will always make you pay more premiums.

How to Choose the Right Comprehensive Coverage Insurance Deductible

Coverage Limits

Review the coverage limits offered by different insurance providers. When you have comprehensive insurance, you can choose the coverage limit for your vehicle. Higher coverage limits ensure that you will be adequately protected in case you suffer a serious problem such as, your vehicle ending up flooded in the middle of the street, letting you have no choice but change the entire engine of your vehicle. You must be sure about the amount of coverage you need and select coverage limits that align with the value of your vehicle and potential risks. For example, you wouldn’t select 100/300/100 for an old cheap vehicle that is not worth $3,000.

Additional Benefits and Riders

Some insurance companies offer additional benefits and optional riders that can enhance your coverage. Some of those benefits may include roadside assistance, rental car reimbursement in case of car theft, and coverage for personal belongings inside the vehicle (). Evaluate these additional benefits and determine if they are worth your needs.

Evaluating the Reputation and Financial Stability of Insurance Providers

You must check the reputation and financial stability of those car insurers before choosing one of them. You must always check Best Business Bureau for any car insurer, you will also be able to check what other policyholders think about them and how that car insurer handled their claims.
The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) is also a good place to research how good a car insurer is. You only have to look for that car insurer’s complaint rate. In a nutshell, any car insurer that has a score higher than 1.0 means they receive more complaints than average, in the other hand, if you find the car insurance you want to purchase is lower than 1.0 means the opposite.
You should look for car insurers with a strong and long run in the insurance industry, some brand new car insurers will may you offer really cheap comprehensive insurance policies, but that may end up really costly for you in case you file a claim. Check for positive customer reviews, but most importantly, for negative customer reviews. No matter if you choose Best Business Bureau or NAIC, any car insurer’s complaints there are all verified and you can also check what car insurer replied to that complaint. Finally, car insurers with strong and stable financial strength will be more likely to fulfill claims promptly and provide reliable customer support.

Exploring the Claims Process for Comprehensive Car Insurance

Consider the ease and efficiency of the claims process. Look for insurers with a streamlined claims procedure and good customer service, you don’t really want to feel ignored when trying to file a claim, and you always want that claim process to be quick, and you don’t want their adjuster don’t treat you like a thug when asking you several questions about the accident.

Importance of Reading and Understanding the Policy Terms and Conditions

Carefully read and understand the terms and conditions of the policy before purchasing comprehensive car insurance. Pay attention to exclusions, conditions, and any limitations on coverage. Being aware of the policy details will help you know the benefits or drawbacks of your policy, and avoid surprises during the claims process.

Comparing Quotes and Obtaining Multiple Insurance Policy Options

Obtaining quotes from multiple car insurers will help you to compare coverage options and premiums. You must select the same amount of coverage limits and deductibles in each of those quotes, remember, you must request 5 or 6 quotes at the same time, this way you will be able to do a small research.
Another important part when comparing quotes is providing the most accurate information to each car insurer, this way you will get the most specific price for your comprehensive car insurance policy.

Assessing the Customer Service and Support Provided by Insurance Companies

Customer service is one of the most important aspects of any comprehensive car insurance policy. Consider the reputation of the car insurer in terms of customer satisfaction and the availability of support channels. Check how helpful their customer service is, that can greatly simplify the insurance experience.

Reviewing Common Exclusions in Comprehensive Car Insurance Policies

It's important to be aware of common exclusions in comprehensive car insurance policies. These may include wear and tear, mechanical breakdowns, intentional damage, or damage from illegal activities. Some common exclusions are the following:

  • Arson
  • Racing
  • Staged accidents

  1. Increase your deductibles if financially feasible.
  2. Install security features, such as alarms or tracking systems.
  3. Maintain a good driving record.
  4. Bundle your car insurance with other policies, such as homeowner's insurance.
  5. Inquire about discounts for safe driving, low mileage, or multiple vehicles insured.

Importance of Regular Policy Review and Updates

You should review your comprehensive car insurance policy regularly to ensure it still meets your needs or not. Everyone’s life circumstances change over time, such as buying a new car or moving to a new area. That may require updates to your coverage. Stay in touch with your car insurer to make necessary modifications to your policy and maintain optimal protection.

Understanding the Renewal Process for Comprehensive Car Insurance

As your policy approaches its expiration date, you must understand the renewal process. Review your coverage, check if you need to make any changes in your policy, or consider shopping around for better rates. Renewing your policy is an opportunity to reassess your coverage needs and make adjustments accordingly.

Conclusion

Comprehensive car insurance offers robust coverage for a wide range of risks and damages. When choosing a policy, consider factors such as deductibles, coverage limits, additional benefits, and the reputation of insurance providers. Be proactive in reviewing and understanding the policy terms and conditions, comparing quotes, and evaluating customer service. By taking these steps and staying informed, you can select a comprehensive car insurance policy that provides the protection you need.

2023.05.30 15:50 jakeloans Fun in EU4

Hi all,
I stopped playing this game in the end of 2020, somewhere around governing capacity. I am not entirely sure, because I still watched some streams and sometimes opened the game, but those hours were minimal (for EU4 standards).
The reason I stopped playing was that normal mode was too easy, and very hard was too tedious. It was not even that difficult, but those battles in the 1600-1700's were ruining my PC. It was slow, and the only thing it required was to notice my stacks being attacked by the AI on time. Also, if you would attack a country for the second or third time, they would be ready to field a new army (in comparison to normal, when the second/third war is a easy win).
With the new release, and having played all my other games, I returned back to good old EU4. I played a campaign in India, I won the surrender of Maine in a solo-fight vs France, and switched religion to Anglican, ruining my campaign because even taking one province was a coalition. (so it was no longer fun)
I tried a relaxing game as Castille, but I went over my government cap like crazy (at the moment I integrated Aragon and Portugal to take full money). The reason I integrated both, was because I was missing money to build monuments.
I played a game as the Pope and Brabant, but both were too easy / too difficult. I was number 1 in the Great Power list at the start of the age of absolutism, but I did not have anything crazy to go for. I managed to get my income better under control, but I only made around 1600; 100 ducats / month extra. (which seems too low for me with all the institutions, monuments etc).
I tried to get my absolutism up as the Pope, but it went slow af.
I started a campaign as Byzantium, solo-ed a war against the Ottomans (build fleet, wait till all troops are over, fort rush, blockade port), and again around 1600 I stopped. Number 1 in power ranking and not a real future to world conquest, and very confident I would form Rome if I would focus on this. (almost fully owned Genoa trade region and owned every necessary province + full Egyptian trade region). I had more problems to get my income under control.
Then I started a nice relaxing campaign as the Incas. Even before bordering any colonial nation, they declared on me, so I was unable to reform the governments.
I made a second attempt by rushing to the Colombian area, but at the moment I bordered them, (4 techs behind), Castille and Portugal were able to land the double of troops.
When I tried to just surrender, I lost my interest, because I lost more than half of my land. (released nations, guaranteed by Portugal for over 20 years).
So, I am definitely making mistakes in my campaign, but I don't feel the real challenge. (except to blob at world conquest level, and world conquests are somewhat boring)
Does anyone have a fun idea/mod? I still like the game, I like to watch, but have really no clue what to play.
For anyone suggesting mods, please don't recommend mods who are going full overboard (Meiou and taxes for example).

2023.05.30 15:49 Alarming-String-7158 Advice please 😩 a long read, im sorry & TW abortion

TW:ABORTION. I am apart of the pregnant crew now . I am very confused and would love for your input so I apologize now for the long read. Basically I am 26 and my boyfriend is 24. We both will be having birthdays in September. I am 4 weeks pregnant, We just had our 6 month old in november. I put my birth control ring in a few days late because my doctor didn’t send my refill over in time . We will be 7 years together in July. I am a nurse so i make good money but just started working full time again a week ago. My boyfriend is current staying at home with our daughter. Okay here’s the kicker. When I was 8 months pregnant we moved into an apartment and literally a month in we left because of terrible mold rats and bug problems they refused to fix . So at 37 weeks pregnant we moved into my moms attic which is fairly big and decided we would stay until we bought a house. Well my boyfriends car had bad wiring and his car caught in fire and basically was totaled so we were mainly both hole for the past 6 months . He is getting unemployment but not much and is currently looking for a good job in his field (construction) . We have not put our daughter in daycare because i am so nervous about leaving her with anyone. My boyfriend hates being a stay at home day because he’s used to working and providing, he also hates staying at my moms house because he’s uncomfortable which is completely understandable. We have nothing saved up but now that i am working i will be making a good amount of money and he is working on getting a job so i have no choice but to put her in daycare. My mom and grandmom ( which is basically my other parent because my father passed away when i was young) are basically pressuring me into getting an abortion. I understand how hard it’s going to be if we decide to keep the baby, on the other hand my boyfriends parents are supportive. They had 4 kids by the age of 27 so their input means a lot. I just need advice on what i should do. I’m like 70% wants to carry on with the pregnancy and 30% wants to terminate . We aren’t in the best position but i honestly think we could do it . My boyfriend thinks the same and wants the baby but he’s very supportive and understands if i want to terminate because of all of the struggles we will face. I’m not sure what kind of advice i’m looking for but anything is helpful because i am very stressed & confused. PS i actually don’t mind if you judge lol i need real and raw advice no sugar coating, please talk to me as if i were your daughter or sister . i can take the tough criticism

2023.05.30 15:47 StonedSumo Wife flew 10h + 6h bus ride to visit her parents, only to be abused by SIL while her family did nothing

tl'dr: me (34m) and me wife (33f) live in North America, we are originally from South America. She paid expensive tickets and took vacation on her work to visit her family back there. Loving SIL (who always went out of her way to piss my wife and make her parents and siblings turn against her) managed to humiliate her in front of her relatives, who simply stood there and did nothing. She is staying with a friend while trying to rebook the flight ticket back home.
SIL has always been a piece of work. She is married to my wife's brother, and ever since me and my wife were friends (we met in university and I used to go to her family's house for barbecues and gatherings before we dated), I did notice she constantly makes comments and malicious remarks specifically to piss off my wife, this seems to range from jealousy to simply shitty behavior. Example: "oh you used to have such a beautiful hair and body when you were a teen, too bad time passes huh?" / "oh you have a diploma but there you are sitting in a desk in a 9-5 job, not sure if worth it, huh" or trying to manipulate her and make her feel guilty like "it must be really nice up there, too bad you're not here with your parents often, they are getting old and old, but don't worry, I'm here for them if they need me"
My wife and I moved to North America in 2019, even though we have our issues with our own families, it was not an easy decision to make. However we did left in good terms with everyone, and we visited once already, in separate occasions. Now to a sensitive topic that caused the current issue... back when my wife was approved to our university, her brothers (the one married to SIL and the other) tried the exam as well, but they weren't approved. It's a difficult exam, basically everyone who finishes high school tries it, since the university is public and free. (everyone who has a high school diploma can take this exam and join a public university if approved) My wife was very very very happy when she received the news that she passed, but felt bad for her brothers as well. A few days later she went out to celebrate with a few friends who were also approved. Well, dear SIL managed to convince my wife's parents and brothers that she did this only to show superiority, that she went to celebrate only to make her brothers feel humiliated, and she was a horrible person. This caused her whole family to stop talking to her, they even went on a trip one day and didn't tell my wife, she arrived home and didn't see anyone, only to find out they had gone to the beach, and didn't invite her or told her what they were doing.
She felt really bad, had zero support from her family, and moved out. It was a rough path on her life. What made her even worse is that everyone took SIL's word, and refused to even acknowledge her.
Years gone by, therapy comes, my wife manages to heal from this trauma, and she reconciled with her family. Her mother was not okay with the whole situation, my wife did explain her going out to celebrate had nothing to do with trying to make her brothers feel bad and it was something SIL did only to attack her. Everything seemed to be back to "normal" - in quotes because dear SIL was still in the picture (no one wants to cut her off because her husband would side with her and they don't want him to become estranged) and she continued with this terrible habit of trying to push my wife's buttons, although I have to say it got a bit better over time.
Fast forward to a couple of days ago...my wife planned a vacation to visit her family, while I stayed here. She did this last year and everything went fine, but this year, dear SIL decided to make a big comeback. Sunday, they were throwing a barbecue to celebrate my wife being there with them, SIL was tipsy and decided it would be a wonderful idea to remind her whole family about the situation when my wife went to celebrate being approved to the university. She said "oh you're in North America now, huh? couldn't have done it without your diploma right? remember when you passed the exam and tried to humiliate your brothers, who didn't?" My wife defended herself, said she hadn't done anything to humiliate them, and simply went out with her friends to celebrate the new chapter on their lives. SIL said it wasn't true, she said my wife did that on purpose while her brothers were still sad because they didn't pass. No matter what my wife tried to tell, SIL continued to say she was a terrible person, that she thinks she feels superior to others because she joined university and yadda yadda yadda.
At this point my wife started crying and turned to her mother to say "mom, look what she is doing to me! you know this story isn't true, you know I didn't do anything to humiliate by brothers, I was just happy I was able to pass the exam, we talked about this!"
Her (JUST NO) mother simply looked down and said "well, you did go out to celebrate, and your brothers were still sad"
My wife then exploded, she basically told everyone to fuck off and forget about her. She told how unfair it was to be treated like this after spending tons of money and taking days off work that she could have used for a better vacation. Then she packed her bags and took a bus to her friend's house, and she is staying there until she is able to rebook the flight ticket.
Her mother has been messaging her back and forth, crying, trying to convince her to come back. She said she couldn't fight with SIL otherwise she would never see her son again. This made my wife even worse, because apparently it's super OK for her to see my wife be humiliated, but it's not okay to defend her from the attacks.
Thank goodness her friend is there for her, I feel so helpless here, I wanted to hold her, to reassure she isn't in the wrong and her family is being extra shitty.
Sorry for the long rant...I hate being in this situation and having no one to talk about it.

2023.05.30 15:45 lqlwle Which first Polysynth?

So at this point I lost all opinion. I watched so many reviews that if I’d try to explain to someone what my insights are so far, I think my voice would start self-oscillating and in the end it would sound like R2D2. It would end with a short circuit and some steam coming out of my ears.
Also it’s a bit of a lie that this would be my first polysynth, since I already have a Digitone. However I feel like I am looking for something that has a keyboard and a lot of knobs, more closer to what my Sub37 feels like.
My dream polysynth kind of has been the Prophet5/6. However this might also be because I didn’t know many other poly synths. Recently I understood that I really love the old Juno sounds (e.g. Juno 106). Also I realized that I really like a synth to look great, since it basically will stand in my room and be a part of it. I love my sub37 already just for it’s looks (and yes it also delivers on sound!). You just want to go and play on it.
I am looking for sth with a good keyboard attached and to also use it to play in a live setup.
So my currently looked at synths with a super short opinion (without self oscillating voice 😅):
- Juno X
I do not like the business model and digital feel of Roland. It reminds me of Native Instruments who have great sounding stuff, sure, but I don’t like devices that are mere plug-in-holders. Besides that it looks super cool!
- Deepmind 12
From what I heard, wow. It’s basically like buying a 106 today. I like it 10x more than the Juno X for being analog and not a plug-in-holder. However it looks rather uninspiring and a bit cheap from what I can tell from videos. Also there is a lot of menu diving. Besides that also due to the insane price point, it’s ability to recreate the Juno 106 sounds plus many more thanks to its flexibility in mods and fx, it is one of my current favorites.
- Prophet Rev2
Looks amazing, sounds good. Not as good as the Prophet 6, but good enough. It still feels like a prophet always sounds like a prophet and it seems to be a bit limiting. But maybe that’s just because I haven’t been able to try it out for a longer period of time. Besides rather pricey, therefore knob per function, easy modulation with super cool UI plus it looks damn cool. Would look amazing next to the sub37 ;)
- Hydrasynth
Mainly the poly Aftertouch is just amazing. It’s still a VST in a box. But then it seems to sound really good and is so deep as an engine that you could recreate basically any sound and play it with poly Aftertouch. I would bet you’d find soundpacks of older synths for this… so kind of sacrificing the analog for an advanced digital synth that delivers on cool features like poly Aftertouch and the modulation strip. I have to say it looks rather average/cheap sadly.
Puh no steam coming out of my ears yet. Well that’s as far as I’ve got. Any ideas or suggestion?

2023.05.30 15:44 TryingToFindSelf 28 M4F Canada PST, - A chandler looking for his Monica

Hi there thanks for taking the time to look over my post! To save us all some time here I’m gonna put these out there first. I am currently overweight (working on that), my goal with this post is to find a long term monogamous partner (that I can meet in person eventually) and I do want kids someday. If any of these are a deal breaker for you, good luck in your search!
For those of you still reading, welcome to my partner seeking post. Their are many like it but this one is mine lol.
A little about me to get the ball rolling, I’m a very funny person once you get me to open up. Like I try to keep the people in my life smiling as much as I can even though it ends up with me acting like a big goof ball a lot. (By the way you just lost the game!). This includes the occasional witty and sarcastic retort, awful puns(which are a wonderful thing!!), dad jokes, and the rare physical comedy. I just feel like there’s too much that goes on in people’s lives to not try to help them be happy. Not to say I will never get mad or frustrated about things in life but just that I prefer to try to be happy or stay positive.
I’m a big old geek, nerd, lover of oddities. I just grew up on nerdy culture and have consumed it into my personality. I don’t have a favorite movie genre like these are some of my favorite movies and you can see my tastes are very eclectic - Rent, The Dark Knight, Ocean’s Eleven, The Rock (the movie not Dwayne Johnson), Treasure Planet. There’s a similar theme to my taste in everything to that I just like most genres! Heres a few of my favorite tv shows - Suits, the West Wing, Community, Doctor Who, ER, Friends (a bit obvious haha). I’ve recently got into anime so I don’t have a big list to pick from to be like I love these but three I really have enjoyed are My Hero Academia (watched the whole show in 2 weeks), Fire Force and of course Dragon Ball!
I have a few different homebody type hobbies but I do enjoy going out as well and not spending all my time at home. I’ll start by saying I am mainly a console gamer and xbox is in my main system (235,549 gamerscore and climbing whoop!). Though I do play the other major consoles too (still need to by a PS5). Some of my favourite games of all time are Stardew Valley, Kingdom Hearts, Saints row (not the new one), Pokemon, Arkham City and Watch Dogs 2. Recently been playing a lot of pokemon infinite fusion if you have any fusion recommendations! I also really enjoy putting lego together though my taste in lego sets and my wallet disagree with each other. I also very much enjoy putting together puzzles, playing board games and Dnd (though I don’t think I’ve ever played it correctly). For outside the home I love going to movies/the drive in, bowling, going to parks, beaches/pools, I’m always down for a random adventure too!
If you reach out to me, all I’m gonna ask is if you could be patient. I found that people can get bored of me very quickly but those who would take the time are who I want to get to know anyway. I’m just not good at getting to know people, generally I’ve been like adopted (lol) by people and that’s how I end up as their friend. Probably making myself sound a little less attractive there but I’m just being upfront about me!
Anywho I hope to hear from the right person!

History of Banjul

Banjul, the capital city of The Gambia, is a place with a rich history that dates back to the 15th century. Originally known as Bathurst, Banjul was founded by the British in 1816 as a trading post for ivory and gold.
During the colonial era, Banjul became an important administrative center for both the British and French forces operating in West Africa. It was also a hub for slave trade until its abolition in 1807. Today, visitors can explore remnants of this dark past at places like Kunta Kinteh Island (formerly James Island), where slaves were held captive before being transported across the Atlantic.
In addition to its role in slavery, Banjul played a key part in several major historical events including World War II when it served as an important base for Allied Forces. In fact, many buildings constructed during that time still stand today such as Arch 22 - one of Banjul's most recognizable landmarks.
Despite its troubled past, Banjul has emerged into a vibrant city full of life and culture. Visitors can learn more about The Gambia's history by visiting museums like The National Museum or simply walking through the streets which are lined with colonial-era architecture reminiscent of days gone by.

2023.05.30 15:38 ActuallyStark Battery over TIME, NOT miles.

Short version, For those that don't drive a lot of miles, but have a 8-10 year old Tesla, what has happened to your range? I see lots of posts about range loss after 100 or 200k miles in 4-5 years, but not after 10 years on say 50-80k miles.

Long version: I'm in the market for a new-to-me used car. I've earmarked about $20k. I currently drive a Diesel Audi Q7 and am putting some 85Ds (2014-2015) with around 50-80k miles up against similar year A8 L Diesels. Miles and year are similar, each have a few creature comforts the other does not. I very much know what I'm getting into with the Audi, but am VERY ready to stop "wrenching" (I do all my own maintenance and repairs). My largest concern is range. I live in the Midwest where charging is still somewhat sparse, and Tesla charging is most common at high speeds (which is why I'm not entertaining other brands now). I mainly drive 80-ish miles round trip to work, but on occasion would drive 5+ hours for work or personal. I'm also concerned about range on very very cold days. I know that rear-drive does well in winter, but I'm going to stay with AWD, and I understand that this puts me in a 85D or higher. That SHOULD be enough range NOW, but if that falls off quickly, I'll be in trouble.

Based on budget and needs, am I sill outside the place where an EV makes sense, or is it time to jump?
