2023.03.21 21:17 jsgunn The Mother of Heroes Part 11

I remained the RA of my dorm for the rest of my undergrad career. Then, after I graduated, there were some problems lining up a job. Apparently Stewart Newman's father was a biochemist, and little Stewart was destined to fend off extradimensional invaders (and yes, I know there is one reader who is now furiously typing up a letter explaining that the Chchshiuuni are NOT from another dimension, but I've read the Wikipedia article three times and I don't understand the distinction. You're reading my memoir, not my scientific explanation of extranormal invaders). His father, Victor Newman, was killed when the laboratory he worked at was hit by a meteorite, which, according to the investigative report, passed through 6 cylinders of various compressed gasses, ricocheted off a 7th, broke through a water line, shattered 9 containers of various other chemicals, then cracked the isolation unit on some kind of algae they were breeding for research on biofuels. This happened at 4:41 AM. Apparently this created something of a perfect storm as the chemicals reacted with the water and a very specific molecule produced by the algae acted as a catalyst which worked together to form pentanitroethyltoluenic acid, which is, according to the laws of chemistry, a chemical which desperately does not want to exist. For those not versed in chemistry, this stuff makes TNT look like HBO. That was supposed to say "H2O" but the I actually like it better this way. Anyway, the molecule was being synthesized in the laboratory for over four hours, until Victor arrived at a little before 9:00. His foot crossed the threshold and the laboratory detonated.
Prior to this event the company that ran the lab had just spent a bundle on a new security system with off site recording. This was the only evidence that could be used to put together the events, as according to the official report it "was as if God pressed the delete key".
So now that that story is floating around on Google there weren't a lot of labs that wanted to hire me. So I said fuck it. My ride is being paid for, let's go for a master's degree. Not like I had anything better to do. So I stayed in my dorm, working on my masters, and continued to be the RA.
A lot of the other RAs had horror stories about their dorms. About the nightmares they put up with. For me, for the most part, it was a breeze. If you want to become an RA and have an easy time with it, I have a few simple steps to insure you have it good.
Step 1: inherit the position from someone who's widely respected (thank you Helga)
Step 2: that person who is highly respected should make it known that you're carrying on their torch. (Thank you Helga)
Step 3: have really great women in your dorm. (Thank you Mr Pols)
Step 4: do your very best to fill the size 19 clogs that have been left for you to fill (wait, are clogs German? Oh who cares, I just said the Chchshiuuni were from another dimension)
That's not to say it was easy. I just didn't get the horror stories that others got. I never had to deal with Shane the Showerless or the Roach Incident. What I did have, however, were a lot of young women to look out for. And a lot of young women who came to me with their problems.
By the 2nd week I'd learned everyone's names, knew their majors, had a general idea about their schedules, home lives, and study habits. I knew who was a hard worker, who could keep a secret, who could hotwire a car, who could safely and reliably distill liquor and extract THC (It was me for those last 2 things. Hooray for biochemistry!) Not that I admit to having done any of those things, at least until the statute of limitations has passed. I also knew who needed help in their classes, who was too naive to go to a party alone, and who I could send them with to be sure they had a good time and made it home safe and sound.
In my third week as RA I called Helga because I missed her (I LOVE YOU HELGA) and we talked for like four hours and I gave her the rundown on everyone there and my assessments of such. Helga is many things, but a braggart is not one of them. It came as a surprise when Helga gloated for a full ten minutes about how she was right in her assessment of me. And yes, I guess it was pretty clever of me to "throw together five Amy's and a Rachel for frat party safety patrol." Rachel and Amy 3 were eye candy to serve as a diversion, Amy 2 and Amy 5 were recon to search for overly intoxicated girls, and Amy 1 and Amy 4 could either extract said girls like a SEAL team or steal booze like a… uh… SEAL team, as the situation dictated. By the end of the year they all had radios they used to stay in communication. I don't know where they got them, but they said they didn't buy them and were really evasive when asked about their origins.
Having taken over for Helga, I also grew something of a reputation. I kept her open door policy, any time, any problem, come talk to Shannon. You didn't need to be in my dorm. You didn't even need to be a woman. Hell, you didn't even need to be a student at our school. If you had a problem, I was available.
No one has problems at 2:00 on a sleepy afternoon when you've got a lot of energy and not enough to do. So this policy did make things a fair bit harder for me. Don't get me wrong, I've never regretted my policy, but problems did happen at almost comically inconvenient times.
For example, when I was having a really, really bad period and throwing up every six seconds, Amy (which Amy? I'll never tell. Just kidding, it was Amy 4) came to me because she'd just found out her childhood dog had died. What did I do? Chug half a bottle of pepto and force down half a pint of butter pecan. I kept it down, too, until she was back in her room asleep.
Little innocent Hannah got invited to a party the day of her last midterm, and really wanted to go. I had 4 mid terms left, and AMY team 6 was out or commission studying along with all my other go tos. So I went with her.
I don't think I'll ever forget that night. Hannah, sweet little innocent Hannah. Gorgeous, doe eyed Hannah. Naive, sheltered, quiet Hannah. Hannah is stunningly beautiful, and anyone who has met Hannah will know she has a very sharp wit and a way with words. What I didn't know is that she had a tongue sharp enough to kill a man at five paces. Hannah got rip roaring drunk (she did five shots in the 30 seconds it took me to pee) and then proceeded to massacre the entire fraternity.
Gary Fogelbaum was a senior, and a total dude bro. He was alright in a crisis and I do appreciate what he did when Pepper broke her leg, but at this point his respect for women left a bit to be desired. He could talk shit with the best of them, and he could take it better than he could dish it out. Five words. Five fucking words, and she left Gary Fogelbaum crying. He earned it. To be clear, she hadn't met Gary before. He sauntered up to her and hit on her, right in front of me. After her second no, he grabbed her hand and put it on his stomach and said "how can you say no to those abs."
Before I could knock his teeth out, Hannah, kind, caring, compassionate, saintly, Hannah disemboweled him. Right there in front of everybody. "Abs won't make daddy proud."
After that it was like something out of a Tarantino movie as I tried to steer her towards the door. Guys got in her way to try to avenge Gary and were verbally slaughtered without mercy. Heads were rolling, viscera was flying, blood was gushing. Nearly to the front door, someone grabbed her wrist.
Hannah spun with a gaze that could vaporize lead and her eyes landed on a short, skinny guy with glasses, who said "you almost forgot your purse" before handing it to her. She snatched her purse, shoved him against a wall and kissed him so hard I think his soul briefly left his body. And then we left. He's engaged to Hannah now, and I've got to say I'm a little jealous.

2023.03.21 21:17 oneir0naut0 An update on Boost Mobile Hunger Strike

So if anyone is interested, an update:
Sunday I contacted Boost Mobile and told them I was on the way to the store to start the protest. I was then presented (for the first time after more than 25 hours of customer service chat) with a simple temporary solution - buy a new boost mobile sim card and activate it on my current locked phone with a new number until Boost gets their internal issues resolved so they can unlock the phone -
Simple, right- well, just coming up with the $6 to buy the SIM card at Target took until mid-day yesterday. Once I inserted it, you can guess the outcome- I can't activate it on my current plan- a plan that I once again paid for a week ago just to get them to release my port out pin, a plan that they have since added a credit to for Next months bill. They can't add it to that account or activate this sim card. To activate this sim card, I would have to pay for a whole new plan.
This is insanity, I get that- I haven't responded angrily to the people here attacking me- most everyone is ignorant to the reality of being homeless, and I can't get angry at them for that nor do I hope they will ever have the personal experience to understand -
I am trying here. I am a healthcare worker. I finally got an interview at WakeMed for a position I hope I get - trying to follow up with that is a big part of why I'm so desperate to have active phone service. I had to walk for two days to make that interview as my dog can't walk very far. I had to tie my dog out with a note while I did the interview - the first and last time (I hope) I have ever done that
I get it, my life, practically, would be so much easier without my dog, but she is all I have to live for. To people saying I am putting her in a horrible situation and dont care for her, I angrily object. I recently spent the last of my money on food for her rather than eat myself. 15 years ago I was homeless for 5 years. I tried repeatedly to get out of it, and it only 'stuck' when I got my puppy Arya 10 years ago. For 10 years I provided her with a home. Four years ago I got a job as a Patient Transporter which led to the rent to own situation on the trailer which turned out to be a scam. It is so easy to go back to homelessness once you've been in it, and I would have multiple times over the last ten years if not for her. Now I've been forced back into it.
So I can't give her up. I know I'm close to having to and it kills me everyday- she saved my life, she is my life. She never leaves my side. When I worked at the hospital I arranged a split shift schedule (10-2 and 4-10, 4 days a week) just so I could go home and walk her every day. I keep her warm and safe even when I can't do that for myself. She turns 10 next month.
I had an acquaintance that was letting me use his basement for her while I worked at a theater recently. My dad became deathly ill, I had to step away from that job and when I returned the acquaintance revoked the basement. There is no dog care or any solution that allows me to manage a theater and have a random schedule that bounces between opening and closing at 2am. I know for some people reading this they are screaming in their head to just get rid of the dog- I can't and won't unless I become incapable of caring for her.
The hospital position will be a set schedule that I can get dog care for her and will afford me the ability to get a place to live.
To everyone saying I should cut my losses and move on - in a normal world I would. Right up until I lost my home, I had a Pixel and Google Fi service. That phone was broken when I was hit by a car shortly after leaving the hospital - I was doing Uber eats on a scooter. I had to go to Boost Mobile as I was approved for an ACP plan.
Boost sent emails saying they had accepted the plan but they never sent me a phone and have charged me every month for 8 months for it. I had tried for months to get my ACP ported over to qlink and now that I have and thought I was finally out of Boosts clutches this whole thing started again.
I know, believe me, about the internal issues- these issues predate that by months- still, I was as patient as possible through the hack issues and would have never tried the port out if I hadn't been told last week that my phone was unlocked and finally given the port out pin- well, not given it, they made me pay them for another month of service before they would give it to me. I am not expecting them to ever resolve the hack issues at this point- this is not the issue. The issue is they told me my phone was unlocked.
And now, I've spent even more money - I know $6 is nothing to most, but I have nothing - only to realize once again I'd been offered another solution just to get me out of chat.
And to those telling me about wifi and such, believe me, I know- I had a tablet that I loaned to another homeless person when his phone broke and then he disappeared. I currently can only do any of this in wifi, but that presents one of the unknown issues of being homeless with a dog - to be on wifi I need to be in a public place and every hour I'm sitting outside Panera or Starbucks is another hour where someone may act on misplaced concern about a homeless dudes dog. As of now, when I leave this place and walk 40 minutes back to my tent, I will then spend the night staring at the ceiling, wondering if I'm not hearing about an emergency with my father and just going over the Cruelty that is the Boost Mobile situation over and over again until I finally fall asleep in the early morning
And I know a Hunger Strike is crazy. I know this is insane- I do have mental health issues- depression and serious difficulty sometimes with social interaction, and lately every day has been a bad mental health day- I took that into consideration when putting off the Strike.
I did get the meeting with the Housing guy moved to tomorrow, so my plan now is to return to the Store Thursday for the strike. To the people saying I shouldn't be protesting at a store that can't do anything - I completely agree! Constantly phone and chat customer service at Boost will push this idea that you can just go to a Boost Mobile store and they can help. This is a lie and they know it. I point this out. I point out that it will be a four mile walk to that store. I point out that the nice but frustrated gentleman that owns that store only has the option of calling Boost support - he just sells phones. Yesterday still, I was told multiple times to go to a store for this new issue with the SIM card.
I am desperate. I have no options. I can't protest Boost Mobile by 'sitting' online. The Boost store is the only physical location where I can stage a protest. And I know a protest makes little sense since no one will care. My only thought is that an attack on the PR front is particularly undesirable to them currently since they are trying so desperately to keep the DISH hack under wraps
I never once panhandled in all the time I was homeless years ago- I'm capable of work and hate the idea of strangers helping me when I can correct things myself, so I can't beg now. But, if there is anyone in the Raleigh area (or someone willing to ship one to my mom's or friends address) that could loan or give me an no longer needed, unlocked phone, I could activate my qlink service and be done with this until I get the stability again to sue the crap out of Boost Mobile. I would in theory only need the phone until they resolve the internal issues at boost and can unlock my current phone.
I do encourage everyone here that may be having similar issues with Boost to go to the Better Business Bureau and report them or post to a thread discussing Class Action lawsuits even though our contracts prohibit us from participating in one - they seem responsive in those arenas.
So hopefully, good news about temporary housing tomorrow - I've been reluctant to even pursue that as there are people with children who need it more and despite the stress of it, I'm actually capable of getting out of this. Then Thursday, I go to the Boost store with a tent and signs and start my protest.

2023.03.21 21:17 georgeststgeegland 41[M4F] Looking for short term chats with long term potential...

Hi I’m Matt, a married dad of one with a little too much time on my hands. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted and I’m hoping to find some good clean fun on this sunny Tuesday afternoon/evening…short chats are cool but I’d love to make some real friends. It does really happen sometimes! I like to spend in nature, watch old movies, discover new music, struggle to do the NYT crossword and other boring old people stuff like that. I’ll send you lots of pictures of whatever is going on in my day and it’s cool if you do too. Happy to share a picture of me too.
I'd like chat on kik, snap, discord....with someone serious about having a conversation about...anything! Reddit chat is fine for a bit. PM me your kik!

2023.03.21 21:16 -Morel Breed Recommendations: First time owners

Hi, I've been reading tons of these threads and you guys have been super helpful when thinking about what breeds would be right for us. We are probably about 6 months to a year away from seriously looking at the available dogs in the area, so I've been doing breed research - figured I would post my exact answers to confirm or deny the breeds I had in mind. SO and I are in our mid-20s and will be in apartments for the forseeable future (thanks housing markets!). Here are my answers to the questionnaire:
Introduction
1) Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs?
I have had dogs growing up, and am generally pretty good with handling them and understanding their cues - but my SO has not, so I am mostly considering breeds that are better for first-time owners.
2) Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a reputable breeder?
I am somewhat mixed on this. Both have unique challenges. I like the idea of a rescue, but will need to keep reading about this.
3) Describe your ideal dog.
Good companion dog, medium energy, super friendly, basically the temperament Goldens have, but maybe in a medium sized dog. Emotionally supportive would be great especially, as my SO is a very emotional person. Something with soft fur would be great for the same reason!
4) What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why?
Personally, I just love the look of Spitz breeds. Samoyeds, Shibas, Schipperkes, Keeshonds - just adorable dogs. But I understand that there are various reasons certain spitzes are either not great for new owners or are fairly rare dogs to come across that would require traveling or going through a breeder with a waitlist. Hence my research has shown me a lot of dogs that are more accessible and suited for first time owners, namely goldens, labs, and greyhounds.
5) What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do?
Nothing showy, just enough to behave on walks/at the park.
6) Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rally) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding)? If so, how much experience do you have with this work/sport?
No, just a companion dog.
Care Commitments
7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day?
We both work full time, thankfully I am remote so I can pretty much hang out with the dog all day.
8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park?
I am remote and flexible, so I can do a 30m-1h walk in the morning and another after work or even during the day. I have heard that dog parks can mess with a dog's socialization so I'll need to keep reading about this. I understand that high energy working dogs, while adorable, are not suitable for new owners so I've been ruling out Aussies, Huskies, and Border Collies.
9) How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?
I don't mind regularly brushing a dog to control shedding. I would prefer to do trimming at home, but I'm not fully against paying for a groomer if the breed is better in the hands of a professional.
Personal Preferences
10) What size dog are you looking for?
So, I have only had large dogs and am looking at something more on the medium-smaller size. I've never had a small dog, so I can't rule them out, but to me a dog around the size of an Aussie is good. My SO is pretty light, so a dog that couldn't drag them but is large enough for them to walk alone and feel safe would be perfect.
11) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle?
I don't mind regularly brushing a dog to control shedding. Excessive barking in the breed would be a problem since we are in apartments, so we'd need to train this away if it's an issue. Same with slobber, "reasonable" is fine.
12) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area?
Not important. If I'm on a hike I'd rather keep a dog on a leash to be considerate of other hikers.
Dog Personality and Behavior
13) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space?
Snuggly dog! Velcro OK. Part of the reason a medium-sized dog would be great would be to allow it to sit on our laps when we watch movies. A teddy bear dog.
14) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please?
Leaning eager to please?
15) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors?
We are new to our city and live in apartments for the foreseeable future and plan to meet new people here. Ideally the dog would be friendly to strangers, but "guarded" is okay - just not outright aggressive or nonstop barking around strangers.
16) Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs?
Willing to try and train this away and finally keep it away from other dogs if need be, yes.
17) Are there any other behaviors you can’t deal with or want to avoid?
Really just aggressive behavior that can't be trained away. This accounts for some hesitancy when we look at rescues.
Lifestyle
18) How often and how long will the dog be left alone?
While SO and I are remote at the moment, that could obviously change. I would prefer a breed that could be left alone during the workday without tearing up the apartment, if needed.
19) What are the dog-related preferences of other people in the house and what will be their involvement in caring for the dog?
SO is new to dogs, but they will be involved. It's just the two of us.
20) Do you have other pets or are you planning on having other pets? What breed or type of animal are they?
No other pets. I suppose years down the line when we're in more suitable housing we'd want a second dog.
21) Will the dog be interacting with children regularly?
Nope.
22) Do you rent or plan to rent in the future? If applicable, what breed or weight restrictions are on your current lease?
Yes, we rent. Apartments here have various rules against pits, dobermans, rotties, GSDs, Malinois. My last dog was a lovely pit/GSD mix that never bit anybody but I'm fully conscious of why apartments often don't allow them. I'm unaware of weight restrictions but am mostly looking at medium breeds anyway.
23) What city or country do you live in and are you aware of any laws banning certain breeds?
Seattle, Washington. Not aware of laws, but will hold to the above apartment banned breeds.
24) What is the average temperature of a typical summer and winter day where you live?
It rains a lot here and spans 35-80 degrees throughout the year with a week or two of snow in the winter. A dog that doesn't mind the rain would be ideal. I understand that short-coat breeds would need winter gear.
Additional Information and Questions
25) Please provide any additional information you feel may be relevant.
Thanks for reading!
26) Feel free to ask any questions below.

2023.03.21 21:15 Coldmaster99 A thing that helped me and helps me everyday.

So, for any of you learning Italian (like me) I found something really helpful. Watching Italian livestreamers in Twitch, really helped me and helps me because I can write down the words which I am interested in to learn the meaning by the translation. I know that I should watch an Italian movie or TV series, but I don't have time for it. I don't know if any of you do this, but this helped me a lot. Ofcourse you can practice with a learning book (which I do) and the internet but I also find this very interesting.

2023.03.21 21:14 UrAnimalDoctor 26M, let’s see if we match … 👇

Hey, tbh I know the chance of finding a person to match with is low here. I'm an extrovert so I can be friends most of the people. I'm looking for like minded people to talk too daily about anything. A little about me: - my field of work involves in animal health and medicine. - I’m funny, sarcastic, open minded, reasonable, calm, chill, 90% of the time happy, extrovert (can connect and be in the same vibe of different people with different characteristics), and usually never run out of ideas for a conversation. - my hobbies include working (who doesn't love to work with animals), gaming (been playing less in the couple of years), music, movies (tell me your top 3), and also traveling (I visited a lot of countries, maybe even yours 😁) - I'm Capricorn ♑ (if it matters) - people I'm intrested in (it matters): confident, knows what they want, take care of themselves and have goals.
So if you are interested hmu 🤙 it doesn’t matter where you’re from. Don’t text “hi” “hey” and if you don’t know a good conversation starter here are some tips: - send me a meme your ashamed to show anyone else. - tell me 1 lie and 1 truth. - Ask me a random question and I'll ask you one.
And if your still here and isn’t interested I still appreciate the time you put for reading this. Also I'm down to send a selfie of myself if you are too. Hope to hear from you 🤗

2023.03.21 21:14 InfiniteCurrent6860 I’m so scared and I almost very nearly majorly fucked up

I like getting high. Most highs are really good. I didn’t used to do it often just here and there and then I started buying my own stuff instead of just doing it w/ friends. So I bought thc liquid (it’s like vape but no bc it’s thc). Bc it’s just a little vape and it’s relatively inexpensive it’s just so quick and efficient that I keep forgetting it’s thc. So I started doing it every day multiple times bc being high feels nice. Usually if I’m at somewhere or coming Home I’ll just take 2 or 3 hits and call it a day. So that’s what I did nothing weird but I took giant hits. So I go back to what I was doing and everything was ok at first but then I started hearing voices. They kept saying my name and that there were people watching me. I was so so scared bc the voices just kept getting louder and louder and louder to the point where it was directly behind me and it scared me and I jumped in my seat. The next thing I know is that my friend was asking me a question. But it felt like I was in a movie. The lights looked orange but they next second they’d look blue and everything looked like ultra 4k HD or smth. And then my friend was talking to me but it felt like I had zoomed out of the like picture/image of life that I was seeing and that I personally wasn’t there. It felt like I was sat in the passenger seat of a car kinda - I was just watching things happen. Then she was talking to me and I was replying but it felt like a video game that was in first person pov. She was asking for my help but I was panicking and so nervous that I couldn’t help her but it felt like I had to otherwise I’d die. My hands started to shake and people were noticing and asking me if I was ok and I just said yeah and just sat and waited for the feeling to pass and it was so so so so so so hellish. After this I just went home tho but I can’t remember much. I think I got food but I’m not too sure. I don’t know what happened or how to even describe this or what it’s called but all I know is that I am not getting high like this again because it’s too scary. Still I am so thankful that this happened when I had only had a little otherwise I might have don’t something really really stupid.

In a world with social media at our fingertips, it often seems as if marketing a film is easier than ever. This, of course, has its benefits for both production companies and audiences, with studios having better marketing success with their films and audiences having greater knowledge and therefore choice when it comes to their next viewing experience. Many may argue that this is largely a benefit to the film community, but that debate is for another day. What this does mean however is that when a film with a great cast, crew, and premise comes along and for some unknown reason, chooses to stay mysterious, the attention of many is instantly caught. There are many indie flicks or art-house experiments that go under the radar but, with a film as large as 65, it comes as quite a shock.

65 has been spoken about for years now, with the film being announced back in 2020 and Adam Driver being cast in the movie shortly after the announcement. This gave ample time in this marketing-driven climate for a whole lot of details about the film to emerge. Alas, there have been mere whispers and surface details announced and, to many, it has been long enough now that we must assume this is a marketing tactic. It took until December 2022 for fans to finally get a trailer so with that in mind, and with intrigue rife, here is everything we do know about 65... so far.

When Is the Release Date of 65?
For some reason, the release date of the film has changed several times during its production and post-production process, with many sources often giving conflicting information. In May 2020, it was announced the film would release on May 13, 2022, however, other reports suggested a date in April. More recently, the date was pushed back considerably to March 10, 2023. But that wasn't the end of it and the 65 was delayed by another week and then brought back to the original date. If the current schedule holds, eager fans will be able to catch 65 in theaters on March 10, 2023.

Is 65 streaming or in Theater?
"65" is not streaming for sure yet. Besides this, given the lack of information available on the movie, we are unaware of any streaming websites where the movie might be available. Let alone the date, when will it be? All we know about the film is a mysterious astronaut on a mysterious planet, which has led to mysterious marketing for what seems to be a mysterious film.

Where to watch 65 Online Free:
As of now, the only way to watch 65 is to head to a theater when it releases on Friday, March 3. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or buy on digital platforms like Vudu, Peacock, Apple and YouTube, or become available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Following its release in theaters, the film will be available to stream on Prime Video. Expect the movie to hit the streamer 45 days after its theatrical run, which should be sometime in April. it's most likely that Prime Video will be the main platform that will stream 65.

Is 65 Streaming on Netflix?
65 won't probably be available on Netflix because Paramount Plus should be the only streaming service to provide it. That would be a very bizarre move on the part of Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group to permit the horror film to stream elsewhere.

Is 65 streaming on HBO Max?
65 is expected to stream on HBO Max at some point after its theatrical run. No official streaming release date for the movie has yet been given, but as it comes from Warner Bros., it will likely arrive on the platform after its cinematic debut barring some unprecedented events or a unique deal.

Is 65 streaming on Prime Video?
After completing its huge $8.5 billion acquisition of MGM, the movie studio behind 65, in March 2022, Amazon Studios will undoubtedly be making the film available to stream on their Prime Video platform.

The first two Creed movies are available to watch on the streaming service, so it is just a matter of time before 65 also makes an appearance. No official date has yet been set, but it will likely take a couple of months from the film’s theatrical release before it is available for streaming.

Is 65 Available On Hulu?
Viewers are saying that they want to view the new movie 65 on Hulu. Unfortunately, this is not possible since Hulu currently does not offer any of the free episodes of this series streaming at this time. It will be exclusive to the MTV channel, which you get by subscribing to cable or satellite TV services. You will not be able to watch it on Hulu or any other free streaming service. fedsg

2023.03.21 21:14 ar417 My weekend trip: 3 Broadway shows, 1 off-Broadway + bonus Museum of Broadway review

I posted a few weeks ago about how I was coming to New York for the first time since 2019. I packed 4 shows into a weekend and am now infinitely more excited to see how this year's Tonys play out. In the order of which I saw them:
Shucked - A lot of my thoughts are in line with the more lukewarm reviews on here. I had a great time and don't regret seeing it, but there were also a lot of things I didn't love about it. The comedy was definitely the main appeal. There were about a third of the jokes that really weren't my style (all the potty humor), and one that I think really crossed the line in a way that had me wondering why it was even included (the rape joke), but at the end there were just so many jokes that there were plenty that did have me giggling. I think the main issue I had with it was that it was so silly, that when it tried to be sentimental, it completely lost me. When I first saw their marketing I was confused at how none of it actually explained what the show was about, and now that I've seen it I can see why - the plot is not exactly the draw here. There were so many country ballads in the second act that I was just bored - I didn't care enough about these characters to stay invested. I also completely agree with everyone that Alex Newell is seriously underutilized and moreover I think part of the problem is that after a showstopper pretty early in the show, all of their songs are bland ballads where they really don't get to show off their skills. The other thing was that a lot of the jokes were played as self-deprecating jokes about rural people which plays as kind of weird to a New York audience, like even though the characters are laughing at themselves, the play as a whole is punching down. I kind of wonder who those jokes are for. Ticket notes: I got this through Broadway Roulette and was just so happy that I didn't get Bad Cinderella that I was probably in a better mood that night for it. I get seats in the middle of the mezzanine. The view was great but the leg room at the Nederlander is awful and the mezzanine is so steep that I got dizzy a few times.
Leopoldstadt - I came in with some mixed expectations about this one. I am Jewish and I also love Jewish history (I minored in Jewish Studies in college and did another year post-college of Torah study). A good number of my (also Jewish) friends had seen it before me and mostly had mixed reviews. I'm somewhat familiar with Tom Stoppard's other works, mostly Arcadia, which I saw twice and read. I also love a lot of "Jewish plays", but I don't usually love Holocaust fiction of any sort. Having said all that, I was almost surprised by how much I loved this and how 2 hours and 15 minutes flew by. I loved hearing them debate antisemitism, Zionism, Marxism, assmilation, etc. I loved the classic Stoppard technique of using mathematical concepts as a metaphor for the larger story. And though I've heard several people say they wish the Holocaust wasn't included, I think facing some of my own generational trauma was worth it because I loved the last scene. I will say that what contributed to my reaction was that A. my own ancestors were pretty similar to the family in the play (they were German and Italian and not Austrian, and I did have some more who particularly on the Italian side who got out before the Holocaust, but as far as them being completely secular and assimilated, and the German side of my family being almost completely erased, it was accurate) and B. I came in pretty prepared, having read Stoppard's story about his heritage and having been told that you shouldn't get bogged down in the characters or the relations, but rather on the dialogue. That was very good advice. Also, I love Falsettos and it was really good to see Brandon Uranowitz and Anthony Rosenthal together on stage again. Ticket notes: I got these through TDF and they were great seats in the front row of the mezzanine. Perfect for being able to capture the entire stage and all of the actors while also being able to clearly see their faces.
Kimberly Akimbo - My favorite show I saw on this trip! After seeing Shucked, I appreciated even more how well this show balanced humor with honest emotion. The entire cast was at the top of their game, and I don't think there was a single moment that I wasn't completely engaged. I didn't know Bonnie Milligan before this but I hope she shows up in EVERYTHING after hopefully winning the Tony for this.I also love Jeanine Tesori and this seemed like a great example of why. Ticket notes: I won the lottery! It seemed like at my show all the lottery winners were in the front row (the way I'm pretty sure it used to be with all shows). It has been a while since I've sat so close and while my neck didn't love it, it was so cool to be able to see every tiny detail and see the actors right there. Also I really feel like I lucked out by winning the lottery since I wanted to see this no matter what and was planning on rushing or doing TKTS otherwise, but this freed up my morning to do other things :)
Sleep No More - Not a Broadway show but one still theater, technically? This was the first ticket I bought for this trip (and ironically my most expensive one as there are no discounts that I know of) and I knew some going in but tried to keep mostly mostly spoiler-free. I'm very glad I experienced it and loved the world that they created but also I was completely lost on any semblance of plot besides what I know of the Scottish play, which did not really line up with what I actually saw. I didn't really stick with any one character mostly since I wasn't interested in running and especially not running up multiple flights of stairs repeatedly. I'm glad I got to see many different actors' performances, although I do wonder if I did follow just one, especially one of the Macbeth characters (I have now read that there are actually two plotlines happening, one based on Rebecca), I may have gotten a little more out of it. I do understand now why people go so many times since it would be good to see more scenes especially knowing more about how it works, although with the cost of a ticket I'm not really sure how that's feasible for most people. I did feel very lucky to get a one-on-one and it was both very cool and supremely uncomfortable. I am not used to all that prolonged eye contact and touching (consensual, but still surprising) from a stranger, let alone a stranger in character. Other notes: They do tell you to wear good shoes for walking which I did but I did not wear good shoes for standing and that did my feet in by the end of the three hours (plus time spent waiting in line). Also really glad I was warned to wear my contacts! COVID masks are no longer required but I still wear one and I would have seen nothing if I was wearing that plus my glasses under the stage mask. Also I'm really glad I didn't have a drink at the bar before the show because I already feel like I almost fell or stumbled multiple times in the dark and the chaos.
BONUS: The Museum of Broadway - This was gorgeous and very informative but not worth the price of admission. I was kind of shocked at how some of the other guests seemed to not be super invested in Broadway (I overheard someone asking another person what Hairspray is) because I would not have dropped that kind of money if it wasn't for pretty much my favorite topic. It took me about 90 minutes to get through, and that was while reading the panels somewhat thoroughly. I will stay that it was fun talking to the staff! They're mostly college-aged folks who were pretty nerdy for this stuff and it was fun to compare experiences of different musicals with them. Also my favorite of their prop collection is the cod from Come from Away.
Overall a successful trip! Curious to hear your thoughts about any of the above.

2023.03.21 21:13 MelonElbows [Challenge] Outline an Indiana Jones 5 where Short Round takes over the franchise

Sometimes the right thing happens at the right time, and sometimes it doesn't. I cannot be the only one who thought that had the new Indy movie been put into production a few years later, or Ke Huy Quan won his Oscar a few years earlier, we might have been seeing a true passing of the mantle to him instead of whatever they've got for Dial of Destiny.
True, Dial of Destiny may yet be great, and we don't have to worry about Shia LeBeouf continuing the franchise anymore with all his legal issues, but both spiritually and acting wise, I want to see Short Round take over the hat and whip.
So imagine an Indy 5 taking place around the 1960's. After Temple of Doom, Indy and Short Round go their separate ways or was separated somehow, and they haven't seen each other in 30+ years. Indy gets into some kind of trouble, and somehow a now adult Short Round played by Quan either comes to help his old friend or gets entangled in the adventure somehow. The ending should be a passing of the torch, Indy retiring (or dying!) and Short Round vowing to continue his friend's work.
The movie should also explore a bit of what happened to Short Round after they separated. Was is a mutual separation? Did they get sick of each other? What did Short Round do in the meantime? I saw someone after the Oscars tweet out a "what if?" where Short Round gets into teaching inspired by his old mentor and I can't get that image out of my head. Also if you can figure out how to gracefully get rid of Shia LeBeouf's character from Crystal Skull that would be great, but I'm fine if you just ignore that movie's entire existence.

2023.03.21 21:13 ThrowRAProper-Sale-4 My wife (32F) and I (32M) can't agree on how to spend money

Throwaway.
So, context: my wife and I have been together since we were 14 and 15. It has been a long journey since we were those young kids. I have always been the more immature, easygoing, and dare I say frivolous of the two of us. We lived together for most of college, and 7 years after we graduated before we got married in 2019.
This entire time, she has been a saver. Relentless. Doesn't spend gift cards unless she has to. And guess what? We had an incredible wedding, amazing honeymoon, and we built a 5-bedroom home shortly after we got married. We bought a brand-new car with cash last year. While we both contribute to the family expenses, she makes more money than me (6 figures vs. my 5), and made the majority of the contributions to these large purchases.
That being said, I am the one that spends money on entertainment. I have multiple hobbies like guitar and video games that I choose to spend money on. She doesn't have any hobbies; no makeup, no clothes or shoes, she doesn't go out with girlfriends, she doesn't go to the movies, etc. We will buy the occasional board game, which is an investment with good replayability. But, overall, I am often looking to spend money on myself.
Here's the problem: we don't have a budget. We haven't created a joint bank account for reasons that aren't really relevant here, but we've always considered our individual bank accounts a collective pool that we pull from when needed. I have proposed creating some sort of budget in the past, but it has been shot down. If I recall correctly (we haven't had this discussion in a while), her logic is we shouldn't put any sort of cap on our individual discretionary spending and should instead talk about those big purchases in the interest of transparency.
This comes to a head every few years because, frankly, it feels like she is holding my portion of the funds hostage. This sounds a bit like exaggeration as I type it out, but, ok bear with me:
I recently received my annual bonus. Due to the crap economy this past year, it only worked out to be $1,000 before withholding, which is roughly 1 week of my pay. I see this as next to nothing; I could throw that money away and we wouldn't even notice. I make enough that I can lose 1 week of pay without batting an eye (not that I want to, of course). We aren't living paycheck-to-paycheck, we are able to pay our bills and buy groceries and dog food and gas, we have enough for a rainy day or an emergency, etc. I said I wanted to buy a new guitar for $1200. Like I said, this would make nearly 0 impact on our finances. I'll make nearly twice that money on my next paycheck, this amount is - and I realize this isn't a healthy way of thinking of it, but whatever - nothing to me. But she shot it down.
She was nice about it, but she thinks that's a lot of money to just throw away on what she thinks - correctly - is a toy; I don't make any money playing guitar. And this is how the conversation usually goes. I make a proposal and she's the gatekeeper. This is frustrating for both of us, but 1) she never asks me for permission to spend money because she *only spends money on necessities*, and 2) I would always say yes because I'm roughly aware of our financial situation and that we are able to pay our bills and everything I've already mentioned. I don't care how she spends money because I trust her.
I just can't help but feel so much anger for not being trusted enough to spend money on whatever I want *within reason*. I am frustrated that I don't have the discretion to spend my hard-earned money the way I want to. I am annoyed because her logic is sound: if we hadn't saved as much as we have over the years, we wouldn't have the nice things we have now. If we don't rein in spending a little, the various small - and not-so-small - purchases will add up. How do you convince someone with that mindset that dropping $1k+ on a toy is worth it?
We are very happy together, and have been for literally half our lives. I don't want to have this fight again, but every time something like this happens, I can't help but feel trapped and not trusted. What can I do?

Can anybody recommend any movies or tv series that have the same feel to them as Hozier’s music? I listen to his music all the time and just want to find something to watch that makes me feel the same as his songs do. I hope this makes sense!

2023.03.21 21:13 fortherest13 19 [M4F] #Florida (single) - looking for friendship and intimacy

19 year old, white male, 5'11", slim, dark hair, and green eyes. I would consider myself fairly attractive, not to sound too narcissistic.😅 Just DM so we can exchange pics.
Young male cub in Fort Lauderdale, Florida looking for an older woman to date, hangout, and have fun with.
So a little bit about myself, Im currently a freshman in college but I have two years of college credits from a dual enrollment program in highschool. I'm undecided right now but I plan on declaring my major soon. In my free time I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, watching movies, and playing guitar. I'm more introverted but I'm fine in most social situations.

2023.03.21 21:11 BoardRelative9120 Thoughts on Rivette

I recently finished watching 12 Jacques Rivette films as part of my dive into the FNW. Rivette was one of the first Cahiers du Cinema film critics to make a feature length film, Paris Belongs to Us, which was completed in 1958, but not released until 1961. Rivette, along with Godard, is considered the most experimental filmmaker of the FNW. Although his features are often associated with lengthy run times and improvisational acting, his first two features had their dialogue wrote out beforehand. It wasn't until L'Amour fou that he finally hit upon the aforementioned style we now know him for. One thing that should be mentioned about Rivette was his obsessional focus on plots involving a rehearsal for a theatrical performance and a conspiracy theory, separate initially but progressively intertwining as the film goes on. He did this so much that some may find his focus on these two plot elements repetitive.
Rivette's approach to actors was unique. He often let them come up with the stories and then improvise from there. In the mid-60's Rivette directed a series of interviews with Jean Renoir, whose ideas on acting significantly influenced what Rivette would do later on in the 60's. Rivette believed everything an actor did was interesting, good or bad. We can see this at length in Out 1, where the actors frequently mess up in numerous scenes. Somehow, this doesn't detract from the movie and it's actually quite refreshing to see this style of acting.
Anybody who has seen Celine and Julie Go Boating knows there is a fantasy element in his work. He acknowledged the influence of Jean Cocteau in his work, and Rivette would include fantasy in two rarely screened films from 1976, Duelle and Noroit. They were largely considered failures on their release, but I like to think of them as experimental/transitional films.
Does anybody have on any thoughts on Rivette? What are some films of his you've seen. Also if anybody needs help tracking down one of his films, I can do my best to help you see it.

2023.03.21 21:11 P0PE_F0X I asked Chat GPT to write a early Anthony Fantano review of Ye's next album "Mos Eisley"

Hey there, internet! Anthony Fantano here, the internet's busiest music nerd, and today we're going to talk about Kanye West's latest release, "Mos Eisley." For those of you who don't know, "Mos Eisley" is a reference to the fictional spaceport in the Star Wars franchise, and Kanye has always been known for his affinity for sci-fi and futuristic themes. But does this album live up to the hype? Let's find out.
Right off the bat, I have to say that "Mos Eisley" is one of Kanye's most experimental projects to date. The beats are all over the place, with everything from glitchy electronics to ethereal strings to heavy metal riffs. It's clear that Kanye is trying to push the boundaries of what hip hop can sound like, and I can respect that.
The album kicks off with "Welcome to Mos Eisley," and right away, we're hit with some hard-hitting beats and spacey synths that set the tone for the rest of the album. Kanye's rapping is on point here, and the chorus is infectious. Definitely a strong start to the album.
Next up, we have "Jedi Mind Tricks," and this track has a more laid-back vibe compared to the previous one. The production is more stripped back, and Kanye's flow is more relaxed. The chorus is once again catchy, and the lyrics are clever.
But here's the thing: while the production is certainly impressive, the songwriting is hit-or-miss. Some tracks, like "Tatooine Dreams" and "Jedi Mind Tricks," showcase Kanye's lyricism and flow at their best, with clever wordplay and introspective musings on fame and fortune. But other tracks, like "Sith Lord Anthem" and "Death Star Destruction," come off as gimmicky and over-the-top, with clunky rhymes and cheesy Star Wars references.
Moving on to "Kessel Run," and this track is definitely a standout on the album. The beat is insane, and Kanye's rapping is more aggressive here. The chorus is memorable, and the verses are filled with Star Wars references that will make any fan smile.
It's also worth noting that "Mos Eisley" is a relatively short album, clocking in at just under 40 minutes. While I appreciate the brevity, I can't help but feel like some of the songs could have benefited from more fleshing out. "Boba Fett's Revenge," for example, feels like it ends just as it's getting started, and "Lightsaber Symphony" could have used a longer instrumental section to really let the orchestra shine.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "Tatooine Nights," where Kanye reflects on his rise to fame and the toll it has taken on his mental health. The haunting melody and introspective lyrics make this one of the most emotional tracks on the album.
"Dark Side of the Force" is next, and this track has a more ominous feel to it. The production is haunting, and Kanye's rapping is more introspective. The chorus is once again on point, and the lyrics touch on themes of temptation and power.
We then have "Lightsaber Battle," and this track is a banger. The beat is heavy, and Kanye's flow is on point. The chorus is once again memorable, and the verses are filled with references to the iconic lightsaber duels from the Star Wars movies.
"Carbonite," is up next, and this track has a more experimental feel to it. The production is more atmospheric, and Kanye's rapping is more subdued. The chorus is still catchy, and the lyrics are more abstract and open to interpretation.
Another thing I appreciate about "Mos Eisley" is how it balances its futuristic themes with real-world issues. On "Space Race," Kanye raps about the impact of climate change on our planet, and how we need to look to the stars for a new home. It's a poignant track that shows Kanye's range as a lyricist.
One of the standout aspects of this album is the guest appearances. Kanye has brought in some heavy hitters, including Tyler The Creator, Pharrell Williams, Grimes, and even a surprise appearance from the legendary Yoko Ono. Each feature adds a unique flavor to the album, with Tyler bringing his trademark zaniness to "Laser Beams," Pharrell adding a smooth touch to "Spaceship," and Grimes providing ethereal vocals on "Gravity Well." Yoko Ono works surprisingly well as the narratomother figure for the persona Kanye has created, going by the name "YeVader" on the record. It's impressive how Kanye manages to integrate these features into his vision for the album without losing any of his own identity.
That being said, "Mos Eisley" isn't without its flaws. At times, the experimentation can feel a little overwhelming, with tracks like "Alien" and "Starship" bordering on chaotic. And while the features add a lot to the album, there are a few moments where they overshadow Kanye's own contributions.
Finally, we have "The Force Will Be With You," and this track is a perfect closer to the album. The production is more uplifting, and Kanye's rapping is more motivational. The chorus is once again infectious, and the lyrics touch on themes of hope and perseverance.
Now, let's address the elephant in the room. YeVader. Yes, Kanye has taken on this new moniker and it's hard to ignore. But honestly, it fits the theme of the album perfectly. The Star Wars reference is not only a nod to his love for the franchise, but also speaks to the idea of being a larger-than-life figure with immense power and influence.
Overall, "Mos Eisley" is a strong addition to YeVader's discography. It may not be his most accessible or radio-friendly project, but it's a daring and ambitious work that will satisfy his die-hard fans and leave them hungry for more. I'm giving this one a 8 on this thing. Keep the music coming, YeVader.

2023.03.21 21:11 SimpleSad6287 Advice for a high schooler?

High schooler hoping to pursue acting!
I'm currently hoping to get into a T20 school- majoring in both theater and something else- though, I'm unsure what that something else would be.
I wanted to get a job in finance, because well, it pays well, but I'm worried it would leave me with little time to audition and actually do acting gigs. What are some high paying, flexible careers that I can do while still having time to pursue acting?

I would've never done what you did to me to you, even if you crossed over the line and were no longer my friend. I'm vulnerable and you could easily sabotage me, please don't. I've suffered tremendously already. Please have mercy. I'm even sorry. I really need help.

2023.03.21 21:06 SunRiseStudios Is there some sort of compilation of best fights of the last arc?

I consider whole war arc as "last arc". I started reading manga and stopped keeping up with anime at about the point Juubi appeared. I would like to see major fights animated, but I don't want to pick up anime again, because there are so many episodes, fights take multiple epsodes, things are stretched, etc. etc.
Also I noticed that I have "Naruto Last / Naruto Road to Ninja" in my Watch later list. I added them years ago. Why would I do that? I usually don't watch anime movies. Are they good movies? Canon? Also I think I watched The Last? I remember some time fuckery shenanigans and fight with Toneri.

Hey friends! Hows it going, post title spells it all so bottom line, I'm a busy, successful grad student pushing towards graduation in May, my birthday is at the end of March and I'm trying to get a little birthday sex/end of semester hooking up going. I had posts on and off the last few months because i'd been house sitting and had great success with pics/vids to prove it. But right now it's ideal if you can host because I have room mates so fill this inbox/DM if I seem like your type. Read below for details.
Here's my stats just so you can size me up: I'm 32, 6'0 tall, brown hair and eyes, 175lbs, fit but not jacked, think a dad bod, 7 inches and thick package, college educated, drink but don't smoke unless its 420 but mostly stick to edibles, have a car, have a job, easy to get a long with and have had successful meetups/hook ups from posting recently. Also tested and vaccinated with proof.
As far as hobbies and interests: I'm big into video games, I like to collect and learn about old and new projects and try out new games as much as I can. I also like following movies and shows. I'm also a big fan of new cooking recipes and traveling. If you're a fellow nerd we'll probably get along real well.
Work and career wise I work for small businesses as a media and digital comms consultant, usually helping them grow. Currently I'm with an electrician contractor and I help them manage projects and their digital media output (mostly advertising but how they do it on social media accounts) and I have my bachelors in communication, I'm also currently in grad school finish up so still on that education grind. I used teach music on the side but don't anymore because of how busy i am.
Now for YOU and what I'm looking for; I don't have major preferences stat wise. I'm dead open age range wise, 18-60 but would most likely get along and vibe better with more experienced partners, race/ethnicity I have zero preference but have noticed I tend to have white, latina and asian women find me most frequently attractive but I have no preference really, and as far as body type while I'm not picky, I tend to favor thickecurvieBBW women so thick thighs to the front of the line is guaranteed. Beyond that, you being able to host for the time being is a necessity because of my roommate situation (I moved back in with family when the pandemic started a few years ago and stayed for grad school, will be moving out again this summer when my masters is done but its my situation for now). Beyond that, being fellow nerds is a big plus.
Anyways, hope I didn't talk your ear off! Get at me if you think I'm your kind of guy. I'm in the So Cal. Los Angeles area in the South Bay would be down to meet or even get coffee first to see if everything clicks. I'm also COVID free and vaxxed. Your pic gets mine and we can swap other messaging apps if we seem interested. Talk soon! Looking forward to another round of LA are hook up fun
