2023.06.07 05:28 Adventurous-Low3778 What else can I try?

What else can I try?
My hair used to do waves with beautiful ringlets on the bottoms with zero effort or fancy products.
Then eventually my hair got curlier so I started using some mouse (herbal essences) and hair spray (Garnier fructis). This worked beautifully for years.
But it hasn't been working for the last couple years so I've branched out to try new things. I tried prose which honestly I think made my hair frizzier. I've tried Blueberry bliss ( or not your mother's leave-in) with gel which gives me the same results as the mouse and hair spray (defined curls, but still so much frizz).
Anything with Shea butter or similar products makes my hair feel heavy and grungy after a day. Things like argan oil make it really shiny, but does not eliminate frizz and then gets greasy after a day. Sleeping with a satin pillow case offered zero difference. I don't brush or comb my hair, use any type of heat (hair dryer), and I've never used dye or put chemicals (outside of shampoo/conditioner) in it.
My hair is average thickness and low porosity.
I like to let it air dry because using a hair dryer makes it poof like you wouldn't believe. Plus I HATE spending more that 15-20 minutes getting ready.
I'm curious to know if anyone has suggestions with similar hair type. What specific products should I try? Is a diffuser worth the money (does it take forever)?
Thank you for reading and thanks for any info you provide!
The first 3 pictures are with leave in conditioner and gel. Pics 4-6 are with mouse and hairspray.

2023.06.07 05:28 BB8Bubblegum 23M - Would love to make a friend!

Hi there! I would love to make some new buddies or simply have a chat! I'm a 23-year-old from the US.
Among my hobbies, you'll find movies/TV, design, casual gaming, reading, and yes, even staring at the ceiling. It would be great to befriend some people who are fairly close in age, but as long as you're 18 or older, I'm completely up for a chat.
Please note that I tend to have a rather dark and sarcastic sense of humor, but I like to think I'm relatively bearable. So, what more could one ask for?
I'm happy to chat right here on Reddit, or if you prefer, we can connect on Discord or any other platform since I know Reddit can be a bit finicky sometimes.
I don't want to turn this into a novel, so shoot me a message and introduce yourself! Maybe tell me about your favorite movie/show. I'd absolutely love to have a chat. Or hey if you just need to vent, I'm cool with that too.

2023.06.07 05:28 chief_bighorse Selling house to move into a rental - bad idea?

I just want to pre-face this by saying that we are not under any mortgage stress (thankfully), this is purely coming from a position of wanting to get ahead financially a lot quicker.
Context:
My wife and I collectively make roughly $200k a year, and are quite blessed to have a reasonably low mortgage ($263k owing, repayments are ~$350 per week). Where this falls apart a little bit is that we have other debts that total roughly $80k, ranging from unsecured personal loans, car loans, and credit card debt. While this is a lot, we are paying this all quite comfortably.
We are also quite a large family (4 kids, only 1 full time), and as they are getting older, they are starting to require more space. We are currently in a sizable 2 bedroom unit, with an internal garage we have converted to 2x additional bedrooms and are starting to feel the squeeze space-wise a bit. Neither one of us are super comfortable buying a new property at the moment given the borrowing capacity and uncertainty regarding interest rates - not to mention the other debts we currently have.
Outgoing expenses for all of the above is roughly $900pw, which is in fairness above the minimum payment amounts.
Idea:
Our home is currently valued at around $450-$470k. The idea we have thrown around is:
I know it sounds backwards, but on paper it almost sounds like it's quite a decent idea for someone in this situation.
Am I missing something here? Why is/isn't this a good idea?

2023.06.07 05:27 Expensive-Trip8484 The dude I'm talking to had a gf for 2 months

I had a puppy crush on this guy that I talked to, we started talking at new years eve (6 months rn) and we talk daily for hours at a time and I wanna emphasize on the DAILY. Today was no different, we talked and it had nothing weird, except at nighttime he tells me "I actually am dating" at first I thought it was just a stupid joke, cause our flirting is literally being a dick to eachother and I was "yea, sure" and then he said he was serious and they've broken up yesterday. I was IN SHOCK, I asked for a photo and he sent me, but the worst part is that last month my bff had a party and invited him and we kinda hooked up at it and we have a date next week and here us where it gets worse, he told me he had dated this chick for two months and we had been talking daily for 6 Months straight, he tried to explain saying that she kinda forced him to have a relationship and he's "Thanking god that he left her" (his words), but IDK it seems fishy, should I believe him? Ps- we were super close from dating, but rn I feel that I went thirty steps away, even though I'm the only one he told abt the chick cause "he rlly likes me" or something, smh I hate men

2023.06.07 05:27 Jaded-Ladder-4541 20F likes me 23M a lot romantically, but has boyfriend.

To sum this up we work together, this will sound very cliche but to make this as short as possible, we are basically Jim and Pam from the office. I have a journal I write in daily, a co-worker stole it and read it then told the girl all about what I had written about her. I didn't find out for a week. In that time she had been talking to me a lot and I didn't know why. When I found out I was very embarrassed but told I knew she knew. She said she felt completely the same and had loved what I had written about her. No one has ever told her anything like that before, how special she was and that had felt that way for a year. Part of the reason I fell for her was how playful she was and fun she was to talk to. Turns out that's why, she likes me.
Hee boyfriend is not a bad person, he and her are just very incompatible, he doesn't seem to care when she's upset since she shouldn't be upset to began with, and when she brings up an issue he mostly ignores it. He doesn't wanna hang out most of the time, and when they do she has to pay for everything and she has told several coworkers and my self that she hasn't been happy for more then a year. She told him she wants to leave and from my understanding he said that he didn't think she was serious about all the times she wasn't happy and tried to talk to him. So basically now he is trying to be what she wants. Said she can't leave him because she would put him into a spiral and a bad spot.
This has all happened in about a week. She still talks to me daily and I know she's very interested in me at work, or over the phone. It's very obvious. She said she's very confused about what she wants and is conflicted. To be completely honest, I really just want her to be happy despite my interests and feelings. I talked to her about it today and she was very happy about my understanding she just doesn't know what to do and wants to see how it plays out. I just don't wanna get my heart broken

2023.06.07 05:27 MainPot Does this make sense (gender identity)

this isn’t so much me looking for advice or gender therapy but I hoped anyone who sees this might relate or at least understand, and I also don’t know if this sounds strange or makes any sense I’m using the broad lgbt reddit so both trans mascs and cis butches can weigh in if they want (and anyone else is welcome ofc)
I’ve identified as a butch cis lesbian for years. I never felt happy or proud in my womanhood/girlhood as a teen, and even considered that I might be trans/trans masc. I’m insecure about my high voice, that my hips are wider than my shoulders, that i look feminine, etc. I also tend to get jealous of cis men, post t trans men, and just naturally masculine AFABs. I dont think it’s dysphoria, maybe dismorphia.
I’m looking into going on T in the future, but stopping before i completely masculinize. I’d love to keep the extra muscle mass/fat redistribution but I can live without it. I’d get to keep the voice drop and bottom growth (I’d like to be able to penetrate but even if not just having a mini dick/big clit would be enough)
I’ve read that plenty of nonbinary ppl microdose to androgonize instead of completely masculinize, but I’m afraid that even a queer-experienced healthcare provider won’t understand that.
Also, I’ve seen a lot about voice feminization for AMAB, who can switch between masc and fem voices. Can I achieve this with T? I want to have a deeper female-sounding voice (ie why i want to stop T) but to also switch to fully male whenever I’d like. Is it better to let my voice deepen on T completely and learn to feminize it or stop once it’s deep but still female and learn to deepen it w voice masculinization? My voice is high even for a woman, speech therapy can deepen it but possibly not to a male level.
You know how some drag queens use female terms, she/her, girl, pussy, etc, but still identify as male outside of that? I want the genderbent equivalent.
I’d like to be able to seem male whenever I please but still be a woman. Now that I’m working out, learning to deepen my voice, and looking more masc then ever, for the first time in my life I’m happy and proud to identify and even be perceived as a woman. But I still like being mistaken as a male in public and being called “sir” (my voice always gives it away tho)

2023.06.07 05:27 DanaMorrigan For those who have or have used ventilated seats, how big of a difference do they make? Are they worth it?

I'm currently trying to decide on a new car, and looking at various options. I've never actually experienced ventilated seats, but the idea is very appealing. I'm in the Mid-Atlantic, so it definitely gets hot here for a significant part of the year. I'm also someone who tends to use my A/C pretty aggressively. Some of what I've looked at have them, and some don't. So I'm interested in what other people's experiences has been. Do you find them worth it?

2023.06.07 05:27 ThrowRAtitsandcrisps My boyfriend (M33) won’t stop messaging other women. What should I (F27) do?

Backstory: I’m 27(F) and my boyfriend is 33(M). We began dating back in November 2019 after meeting in October of the same year and instantly hit it off. Within those 3 and a half years, I’ve helped him move out of his parents and into his own place (twice), I’ve helped him financially when he hasn’t had a job for almost a year due to (he won’t admit it) but because of laziness but overall the job market being tough. I have my own house with a mortgage but I live with him in a council house due to my mum still living with me in said house and us wanting privacy etc. Long story short two weeks ago I saw Tinder on his phone when he was showing me something, I confronted him and he acted dumb but then admitted to using it but using the excuse of self esteem issues and how he wasn’t feeling confident in himself. (FYI this isn’t the first time I’ve caught him on TindeBumble) fast forward to today and he went down stairs for something and he left his phone upstairs, I shouldn’t of but I opened his phone and found no Tinder but instead found IG messages to dozens of girls. I didn’t manage to get the context of the messages due to there being several but not wanting to get caught reading them. I’m at a lost on what to do. For some this would be a breaking point and they would end the relationship but then to others it wouldn’t matter since it’s only digital (as far as I’m aware) but then that asks the question: is it becoming the norm to allow and let off your partner for talking to the opposite gender, whether it be for sexual reasons or for emotional. I’ve asked him if we should reconsider the relationship and think some things over but he insists we shouldn’t because “he’s happy” but his actions are saying other wise. What should I do?

2023.06.07 05:27 Mikky9821 Moving away from all family

It’s been a dream of ours for awhile to buy land and build a house. The time has come and while it’s still the dream, now that we have our daughter (10 months) I’m pretty sad about it. My husband’s dad and my parents all live within 5 minutes of us right now and they all love our daughter. They have huge roles in her life and I’m so sad to be taking her away from that. We’d be moving 4 hours away and now I feel this insane pressure to in the coming years make sure she’s involved enough and makes friends etc since she won’t have any local family or siblings. Does anyone else live away from their immediate family and struggle with this? Am I being dramatic? One and done is a fairly new final decision for us (me more so) and I think that’s where these thoughts are coming from.

2023.06.07 05:26 tanders123 I may not have FM...I think it's my BP meds...

I'm in the middle of shifting doctors because my blood pressure hasn't been managed well. I've been on Losartan for years, and I was recently switched to a new med by a new doc (who I will not be returning to, for a variety of reasons).
So...the new med wasn't working and I switched back to Losartan until I see a new doc, and the pain hit me like a ton of bricks!!! I hadn't realized my pain had disappeared on the other med!!!
Lo and behold, a side effect of Losartan is muscle and joint pain!!!
I hope this helps any of you!!!! If you'd been on any meds, try new ones and see if your pain chsnges!! 🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞🙏🌻
I see the new doc next week and will be changing meds again, so I'll come back to confirm!!
Please, if you discover the same thing, please let me know!!! I'd love to hear that this info has helped you!

2023.06.07 05:26 jayekub Worth a $5k teardown to see if warranty will cover a new enginge for my 2017 Certified Pre-Owned Niro?

I noticed my 2017 CPO Niro started making a clicking sound connected to the gas engine RPMs on my morning commute (~10 miles). On the evening commute it was louder, and halfway through the car started shuddering and then said "check hybrid system; turn off engine". I pulled off the freeway, parked as quickly as possible, and got a tow to the nearest dealership.
The dealership has been difficult to communicate with, but they say the car needs a new engine and it'll be a roughly $15k repair. The car has the 10-year 100k mile CPO warranty and only a little over 60k miles on it, so it's within the coverage period. The warranty company sent out an inspector and the result was that they want to do a tear down to determine whether the repair will be covered. The dealer quotes 20 hours of work or around $5k for the tear down. If the repair is covered by the warranty the tear down will be too, but if not...I guess I'm SOL. The KBB on the car is around $17k last I checked...
Wondering if I should roll the dice on the tear down or just swallow the loss and buy another car. Anyone have experience with something similar? Would appreciate any advice on this. I'll be trying to get as much info as possible from the dealer about what diagnostic information they do have, but it's been pulling teeth dealing with them.
I live in the Bay Area so I'm guessing these are pretty inflated prices. Will be calling a couple other dealers tomorrow to see if their prices are similar, but I have to go with a dealer for warranty repairs.

2023.06.07 05:26 ToughPlankton Build new decks or upgrade old ones?

I have over a dozen decks, ranging from "cheap deck challenge" builds that are $20-$50, to some pretty well tuned stuff like [[Atraxa]] Superfriends that's worth at least a couple hundred dollars.
I have a full set of fetches, shocks, and triomes, which I proxy into each deck just to save the hassle of resleeving everything constantly.
Now I have some store credit burning a hole in my pocket and I'm faced with the classic debate: Do I pick out some old decks and update them with some new cards, or put all the credit into an entirely new deck?
I'm curious how others approach this, and also how you manage those old decks to even determine what needs to be updated. I haven't put anything new in my [[Oloro]] deck for at least 5 years. But, if the deck already works well, does it really need new stuff?
I don't know if it's worth all the work to plug all my old decks into something like Moxfield, then scan EDH Rec for hot new stuff to swap in. Or maybe it's easier to just add one more deck to the shelf and map out how to build a dumb niche deck because I already have all the standards covered . . .
Anyone have advice, or face a similar dilemma?

2023.06.07 05:25 Main-Palpitation-666 AITA for not wanting my daughter’s dad around her?

I (23f) don’t want my daughter’s (2f) dad (23m) around her. My daughter’s dad and I have had an on and off relationship since my daughter was 3 months old after finding out he was cheating and I’ve tried to coparent with him but every attempt of that has backfired because if he gets into a relationship with someone he won’t communicate at all and when he’s single he will communicate the tiniest amount about our daughter and then turns it into we should try to make things work between us. He does this because he grew up in the system and I grew up in a broken home and he knows how much having my kids in a house that isn’t broken means to me. In our last attempt to make things work he came back on substances and in a poor mental state talking about admitting himself to the hospital because he felt as if he we’re going to hurt himself. We talked about things and he decided it would be best if we moved to another state and would start over since the state we live in isn’t the best anyway and it would take us away from the drama so off he went to the new state while my daughter, son (4m from a previous relationship), and I stayed behind to figure out legal paperwork for my son to be able to move out of state and so I could start looking for jobs online in the new state. Before he left I bought a used but reliable vehicle for him to get back and fourth from work which totaled in 3,500$ and told him after he paid back the money for the vehicle I would put it in his name. While he was in the other state I paid for all of his gas, food, and bills since he was looking for us a house and trying to save what money he made while down there for that purpose. Three weeks after being down there he told his mom he was coming back to surprise the kids and I which he indeed did after not spending any time with us and going on a drug binge and cheating with a girl he had knocked up and didn’t mention. After finding all of this out I immediately ended the relationship and told him I want no contact and I don’t want him around our daughter until he gets clean and can stay clean and I also want all of my money back. He’s mad I won’t allow him around our daughter but I just don’t want her to have a poor image of her father because she adores her dad and what little time he would spend with her. There is no parenting agreement, he’s paid about 200$ in child support in the last two years, and I’ve always allowed him to spend time supervised by his mother with our daughter which was only supervised because of the job he was working 24/7 on call. He wants to take our daughter around this new girlfriend because she’s pregnant even though she’s doing substances with him and providing him with substances. So AITA?

NBD! Nelson’s Bike Decade
RIP 2012 - 2022
~40,000 miles
My beloved all-weather, daily beater. Commuting, touring, crashing and drunken night flying, this thing did it all.
This bike started life with a 3speed Sturmey Archer hub I laced onto Mavic Open Pro rims. Eventually I simplified to single speed.
I messed around with different hubs, oval chain rings, and built my own panniers. Except for the handlebars and stem every other part of this bike changed over the years.
Fun, light and responsive it saw me through many happy years weaving through traffic in London and Liverpool and I could leave it anywhere because it looked like shit.
After a decade of love and abuse the kinesium(!) frame eventually fatigued with a hefty spiral fracture on the downtube.
I learnt to build bikes with this thing and its last act was inspiring the geometry for my custom Ti framset.

2023.06.07 05:25 Scoobydoo_nz 2023 Tech Melt

InvestorPlace technology expert Luke Lango has held an important live event. Let’s go ahead and view the video:
2023 Tech Melt + Readers questions - 1Hr 15 Mins long (Presentation & Offer for Early Stage Investor)
Our world will exit this decade appearing dramatically different than how we entered it, all because of artificial intelligence (AI).
This technology presents an enormous “before-and-after” paradigm shift that will disrupt/revolutionize nearly every aspect of our day-to-day lives.
From a business perspective, the tidal wave of capital that will flood into AI over the next 10 years will be like nothing our economy has ever seen.
As a result, from an investor perspective, today’s well-placed investments in the AI-leaders of tomorrow will turn into multi-million-dollar windfalls.
Luke’s event focused on helping investors understand the sheer size of this societal change, the enormity of the investment opportunity, and the right action steps to take today.
Here’s Luke:
I truly believe that, thanks to the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI), we face one of the most seminal moments for the economy ever.
And investors who recognize the importance of this moment – and seize the opportunities it presents – will make fortunes over the next few years…
Let me abundantly clear: AI is the biggest technological paradigm shift we’ve ever seen in our lifetimes.

Wrapping your head around what’s coming with AI

Chances are, you’ve used ChatGPT. If so, you know how incredible it is.
But for some mindboggling perspective, remember that this is the worst version of the technology that will ever exist. In a couple of years, today’s version will seem stupid – even inept – compared to the enhanced model we’ll be using.
To understand why, we must grasp the basics of AI.
AI consists of incredibly powerful algorithms that gather, sift, sort, and contextualize data to generate insights, draw conclusions, and make predictions.
If there were no data, then these AI models couldn’t do anything. As such, data is the lifeblood of AI. Or as Luke calls it, the “fuel.”
Here’s Luke with more:
What happens when you give a car 10X more fuel? It drives 10X farther.
What happens when you give an AI model 10X more data? It becomes 10X better.
And over the next few years, AI models will have more than 10X more data than they have access to today.
That’s not an exaggeration. That’s a fact.
In 2020, the total volume of data created worldwide was 47 zettabytes. By 2030, that volume will exceed 600 zettabytes.
That’s a 13X increase – and, by extension, a potential 13X increase in AI capability.
Folks, these AI models are only going to get way better over the next five to 10 years.
You think it’s impressive that law firms are already using AI to write briefs or that hospitals are using AI to diagnose diseases?
We’re just getting started.

Similar to the internet explosion in the 1990s, AI will create a stark divide separating the businesses and investors who benefit from the technology from those who get left behind

One of our biggest weaknesses as investors is that we’re not great at envisioning the future.
Think back to the 1990s…
As you drove to your local Blockbuster to rent a videocassette for the evening, could you have imagined the company going bankrupt because of a technology that would enable you to “stream” a movie straight to your home television, without driving anywhere or renting a physical product of any kind?
As you stood in line at your local Borders Books (remember that one?) to buy the latest James Patterson mystery, could you envision the company being driven out of existence by online book stores and e-readers?
Or what about your family summer road trip? Do you remember using a physical map?
No Millennial will ever understand the particular pain of trying to fold a map with one hand while speeding along some back road, totally lost, all because you missed a turn. As I look back now, spoiled by GPS, a 1990s road-trip seems downright barbaric.
Well, the future that’s coming with AI will bring its own jaw-dropping advancements. As investors, we must do our best to envision this and place our money ahead of these advancements. After all, this time around, it’s not just a wave of new innovation, but a 1,000-foot tsunami.
Back to Luke:
AI will be used to power a whole all sorts of technologies – robotic landscapers, delivery drivers, pilots, waiters, and more.
AI will be used to diagnose, prescribe, and treat patients for all sorts of ailments.
It will trade stocks, create music and movies, write articles, code, concoct new recipes, and make fabulous drinks. It will clean, repair, and restore cars, homes, and just about every object you can think of.
This is an “Everything Revolution.”
AI will permeate every industry of the economy. This revolution will leave no stone unturned. By 2030, every company in every sector of every country will use AI.
If you need convincing of this, just track the money flow.
Luke highlights a brand-new Bloomberg Intelligence research report concluding that just one portion of the AI economy – generative AI – will grow by more than 40% per year, reaching $1.3 trillion by 2032.
And here we are today, at the 1-yard-line, able to align our wealth with this avalanche of growth.

Luke sees investors falling into one of two camps

Here in 2023, it’s been a tale of two markets…
You’ve either been in tech/AI and made big returns, or you’ve been in anything else and more than likely made next-to-nothing or even lost money.
To illustrate, we need look no further than the Nasdaq 100 and the Dow Jones.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 is up 33% while the Dow is up 1%.
Luke sees this as just the beginning. But for every bit as exciting as the enormous return potential of top AI stocks is, the risk of anemic returns from “old economy” stocks is concerning.
Here’s how Luke sizes up this divide:
Invest in the right AI stocks, and you’ll find yourself on the winning side of this massive technological paradigm shift.
Invest in the stocks that artificial intelligence will kill, and you may never recover.
It’s really that simple. And urgency is required because just as AI is already here, this stock market divide is, too.
Luke highlights the same night-and-day difference in 2023 market returns we just noted above, then says that this divide will only become larger in the years to come.

Watch Luke's presentation for all the details of this paradigm shift, as well as how to position your portfolio today

This isn’t the same as the computer… or the internet… or smartphones.
It’s bigger – for both good and bad.
AI will end certain diseases… destroy entire sections of our labor force…transform certain day-to-day tasks that are just normal parts of our lives today…
And for investors who invest in this trend early, it will generate mind-boggling investment wealth.
I’ll give him the final word:
AI is the biggest technological paradigm shift we’ve ever seen in our lifetimes.
Over the next several years, AI will sweep across society and will change everything about everything. For some, this will present a huge opportunity. For others, it will create a huge threat.
I wouldn’t be surprised if, in five years, AI stocks are up 400% or 500% while every other stock is pretty much flat, if not down.

2023.06.07 05:24 MrsSalmalin Does anyone (from Canada or the USA preferably) have experience working as an MLT in France?

I am a Canadian MLT and I'm trying to navigate the quagmire of French bureaucracy. I want to know what kind of certification (if any) is required to work as an MLT in France. I've looked up some job postings and they mention a Bac+2 which I more then have since I have BSc in Biochemistry and a 3 year college diploma in MLS (obviously with CSMLS certification). I also have 4 years experience working in the field. Wondering about getting the equivalency sorted and how to be a desirable candidate when I don't live there yet!
And before anyone asks, yes I am fluent in French :P
