If you missed my last update post on Season 6 please check it out.
https://www.reddit.com/ExpeditionUnknown/comments/10fe3qw/update_on_season_6_of_expedition_x/ Vernal, UTAH (Skinwalker Ranch... Well Kinda) - January-18 They stayed at the SpringHill Suits in Vernal, Utah.
- January-19 Filmed at the Mcconkie Ranch Petroglyphs. They also did an interview there. The whole place was covered in snow and Jessica made snow angels haha. The Film Crew split up to shoot some B-roll.
- January-20 A Crew Member dressed up as a Cat or maybe Dog Monster and ran around in the snow. I believe they were filming a Reenactment or at least I hope so haha.
- January-21 They filmed at night and it was really cold.
- January-23 I think this was a day off. Some of them went to an Arcade.
- January-24 Somewhere in the Uinta Basin they film an interview with an eye witness on their private property that connects to the Skinwalker Ranch. They never step on SWR Property, they were only allowed to go up to the property line. We will have to wait and see how they play this off when the Episode airs. They rented off-road vehicles from Adventure Tours Vernal. The Film Crew made ramps out of snow and jumped the off-road vehicles. One of them almost flipped forward on the landing, it looked dangerous but fun haha.
- January-25 to 28 I know they filmed at night one more time but other than that I have no idea what they did these 4 days.
- January-29 To the airport, everyone flew home.
Ireland And England (Hellfire Club) - February-8 They arrive in Dublin, Ireland. Phil's Wife and Daughter joins him again. Jessica and Film Crew have lots of drinks that night.
- February-9 First Film Day. They ride Horses up Montpellier Hill to the Hellfire Club Ruins. They filmed that night in the Ruins.
- February-10 Temple Bar, Dublin. Drinks, drinks and more drinks haha.
- February-11 Filmed interviews at the Marsh's Library. Drinks, drinks and more drinks hahaha.
- February-12 Day off.
- February-13 Travel day, London England

- February-15 They wrapped up this Episode and had a big dinner.
- February-16 Travel day, at London Airport and off to Romania.
Cluj-Napoca, Romania (Witches) - February-17 They filmed at a Sheep Farm. Did an interview with some of the farmers and got to hold baby sheep. They got to drive off-road vehicles and the Crew got wild again haha. A woman who lived on the farm fell in love with Jessica haha, She wouldn't let go of Jess and the Crew made fun of her. They had lots of drinks which became the theme for this Europe trip haha.
- February-18 They were filming out in a field and the Producer started digging a hole. Jessica got into the hole and Phil pretended to bury her, I think just for fun. Then a Cameraman got into the hole and Jessica and Phil stood above him so he could get the shot (???) idk haha. That night the Crew partied at a Club called Plan B.
- February-19 Day off.
- February-20 Filmed at the Orthodox Cathedral and Avram Iancu Statue.
- February-21 Filmed at the Equestrian Statue (King Mathias, Matyas). That night they filmed with 4 Witches named Casanndra Buzea, Buzea Ana Maria, Anda Mihaiela, and Vrajitoarea Mihaela Minca. Jessica loved filming with them. They then went back to their hotel and the Producer had way too much to drink haha.
- February-22 They go to a forest near Floresti (not sure if was Hoia Baciu Forest) and film with the Witches again. They had a small fire and a hot coal popped out of the fire into Jessica's hair. One of the Crew put it out and Jess says she owes him a life debt now haha.

- February-28 Filmed an interview at the Olde Cottage Pub Chester. Then road trip to Buxton, Peak District.
- March-1 Filmed at Stanage Edge. They did a rock climb.
- March-2 Jessica did an interview with BBR-Being Believed Research and Phil took a Helicopter Tour.
- March-3 Day off and that's a wrap on Europe.
- March-4 Phil and his family flew to Iceland for a vacation and everyone else flew home.
Hollywood - March-16 Jessica and Phil was in Studio to work on VO for the Episodes and I'm guessing filmed the intros with Josh.
- Today is March-21 and I believe they will start filming again tomorrow. I think 2-3 more Episodes.

2023.03.21 22:05 ppr1227 Is it unreasonable to expect my neighbor to ask permission before tapping my sugar maples this year?
I moved to my place last year. I have 14 acres in a small town. There a farm on my eastern boundary and 5 homes on my northern boundary. There is also a creek running through the property, around 50 feet down hill from the northern boundary. There is no bridge so I don’t get to that side of the creek often, though I can access it from one street over.
Last year, my neighbor on the other side of the creek asked if he could tap a couple of maple trees to make a small batch of syrup with his kids. Of course, I said yes. He also said he would give me some syrup and gave me a small mason jar of it-somewhere around .75 cups. He continued tapping and boiling for a while but did not give me anymore.
This year I was expecting him to ask again and would have given him permission happily. I thought it was cool to have syrup from the property. He’s seems like a nice enough guy and his kids are really well mannered. I found myself a bit shocked to be out for a hike on the property and seeing his sap buckets on my trees. I texted him that I was surprised to see the buckets. He texted back with an apology and acknowledged that he should have asked. He said he would take them down. I told them he did not have to take them down but I do expect to be asked if he wants to tap in the future. Since then, I’ve found myself very annoyed about this guy and feeling disrespected. Since I moved in, I’ve let them tap my trees (twice now), he asked if he and the kids could come hike my trails and I gave them a tour followed by lemonade and homemade cookies, I had extra apples in the fall and gave them an apple cake. Last fall, when I had a bunch of ash trees cut down, he asked if any firewood was available and I told him he can help himself to as much as he’d like from the log pile. I feel like I’ve been kind and generous. Meanwhile, they never reciprocate - haven’t even invited me over for a twenty-five cent cup of coffee. I try to be a good neighbor but I’m feeling like a sap (pun intended) since I discovered the buckets. Is it unreasonable to expect them to ask to tap my trees, even if I gave permission last year?

2023.03.21 21:57 Time_Capt A Comprehensive List of Totally Useless (but real) FT Advice
So you’re an eager AS200 ready for field training. You got your bag packed with your extra set of OCP boots, your FTM is all tabbed up, and you got 20 9-Line cards for the rest of your flight. You’re prepared, but you don’t know what to expect. You need advice, you want the POC to tell you how to prepare. Never fear, I will offer my genius insights on how to get the most out of field training. This advice might not be helpful, but hey, its coming from a POC.
· Sequencer: So there’s this off brand-Gatorade they put at every water cooler. It’s served through normal Gatorade dispensers and you drink it through these flimsy paper cups. It comes in five flavors: Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Purple. First off, double up your cups. Those paper cups will decompose in seconds, use two or three to minimize leaks. Secondly, I would recommend staying away from the yellow and green flavors. They are not as good, are generally saltier, and the CTAs don’t know the right ratio for those two. Lastly, mix the flavors. Mixing Red and Purple yields this concoction so ungodly good you’ll wish you never had to drink anything else. Blue and Red is also okay. Using Red or blue with yellow is also a good way to boost the inferior flavors.
· DFAC: Don’t greet the staff table. You will have to eat at the DFAC a bunch, it is annoying, know the procedures. If you can ever volunteer to do something during lunch, do that. Not only will you get longer to eat, but you may get some neat opportunities. I met the first sergeant during my max and got to have a lunch with them because of it. You will be offered to take snacks as well. You may not be the type of person to take snacks. ALWAYS TAKE YOUR SNACKS. You may frequently have lunch of dinner super early and get hungry later, and if not I can guarantee you there are flight mates who would kill for your pop tart. Also, the wrappers for the granola bars when I went had coupon codes for free minecoins on them. Even at FT, the grind never stops. You will probably have water minimums every meal. You can drink for the rest of the day. Still drink your water (see below), but focus on your food. You only get ten minutes to eat (ask for time extensions if you need them!) so use the time for food.
· Drink water: Duh. But seriously. Don’t be that one weirdo that gets stripped naked by staff because you had a heat stroke. Water is amazing and I cannot emphasize how important it is. I drank almost 15 liters in one day once. Also it gives you an excuse to go to the bathroom frequently, which is really your only break in the first few days. Also, be sure to fill up your pack every chance you get. You never really can know how long you are going to go without having another chance.
· Sleep and Hygiene: It is hard to fall asleep at 2000, especially if you are coming from the west coast. The first few days will be annoying as well. After about two days you will fall asleep very quickly (I’ve never heard of even the roughest sleepers taking more than 15 minutes to fall asleep). The lights out hours are enforced, so be sure you are sleeping when you can. Your body will wake you up automatically five minutes before 0400 in a few days, so in the dark silently make your bed or brush your teeth if you didn’t have time last night. Oh yeah, brush your teeth, it may be hard to find the time but don’t get cavities from FT. I would suggest brushing teeth in the shower if you can’t find time. I know too many people who didn’t find time to brush their teeth.
· Gossip: yes, really, get to know each other, share what you know. Did you overhear and FTO say that Romeo flight was going to VW TD-7? Spread the word! Do not hold knowledge that can help your flight to yourself, because such behaviors really stand out and FTO’s will really ding your flight rankings. Lots of people go into FT trying to know everything and be the big up-front leader. People who step on toes get ranked much worse than those who repeatedly fail but demonstrate growth. Point is, you will hear things. Set up a recall roster in your flight. Also don’t be afraid to ask for things, such as allowances to break the flight path. Also, just share what you know. If you came with extra FDE cards for everyone, share! If you have feedback for an ORI, share! The flight halls should have public bulletin boards for MFRs, use those. Your evaluators will notice.
· Talk to the Chaplains! You might not be religious, that is totally cool, but the religious services were an outstanding spiritual experience and just asking to talk with the chaplains is a great way to get a quick break within bounds. Talking with them will not negatively impact your rankings in any way, and I cannot emphasize how amazing they are. Seriously, do not be afraid to put yellow or red for mental health in your journals. Lying about your issues does not make them go away. Talking to the chaplains just might. I got to go on some walks and have some nice drinks with them while talking about life. An excellent reprieve.
· Feet: oh yeah, this is a big one. There is a reason you put this on your weekly journal. You will not have an option to wash your shoes, so be sure you pack a burner pair. Maybe also get extra insoles. Air out your shoes every night if you can, maybe pack some Lysol. Wash your feet when you shower, sleep without socks on if you need, and watch your feet to treat any potential blisters immediately before they get to you.
· Actually go: this one is fun. Apparently, every year like half a dozen people just don’t show up to FT. When called, they’re just like “oh yeah I don’t wanna do ROTC anymore.” It is past that point, you have committed, so be sure you are fully present. Don’t not go, and don’t go and not be present. Actually be there, and care why you are. Don’t do an SIE or whatever the self elimination is called. You may want to, but talk with the chaplains first and realize, it’s only a few more days. Focus on one day at a time. VW is a blast and it gets a lot easier. The CTAs warm up. No one I know of did an SIE after TD-3, so just bear out the first few days, as rough as they are.
· Packing List: Take a pair of nail clippers, your own set of moleskin, and extra thing of wet wipes or Lysol, extra shoes and arguably more socks. Write your locker combo in your FTM (AND ALWAYS LEAVE YOUR SECURITY LOCKER LOCKED—most common form 17 and was responsible for one dismissal at my max.) Take an extra set of civilian clothes so once you are done you can change out of IUs for the ride home. Keep in mind you won’t hear music for two weeks, so think about what the last song you hear is going to be. Also you can take extra stuff as long as its not contraband (consumable, electronic, or a distraction) so take extra stuff. You will have a lot of fun time at VW and maybe even get some places where you want to kill time. There is no harm in taking extra things to help you prepare.
· Learn marching jodies: calling cadence for 15 minutes in the heat sucks.
I probably forgot a bunch of stuff so maybe I'll be back.

2023.03.21 21:53 shulamithsandwich any gays here familiar with dennis cooper's blog (or extreme gay bdsm personal ads)
at the end of (almost) every month for at least the last 15 years, the writer dennis cooper has published a collection of personal ads from young men.
here is the most recent crop, and you can find others by searching 'male slaves' on his blog, and some others through search engines, but his blog in general is not very user-friendly so that's not a complete list. but they are personal ads for extreme violence that often cross into territory that's criminal even by male standards, including snuff, amputation, pedophilia, necrophilia, etc.
encountering them as an mm romance-obsessed humanities student at beginning of the era of applied postmodernism in feminism was really the tipping point in turning me away from prolix theories of extreme social constructionism, and what caused me to abandon any fantasies that i was a man and start looking into the biology of sexual difference. i couldn't believe that so many beautiful young men would just throw what seemed to me an exclusively male entitlement to safety and respect in the trash like that.
i asked the gay bros of askgaybros about this a couple months ago, and they said the format that allows comments on an ad looked like fetlife, another said he suspected cooper made them up, but i didn't get any definitive answers. thought perhaps the berghain enthusiasts of this sub could help me figure this out. are they real? do beautiful young men really long to be turned into a farm animal that lives on ejaculate in the netherlands or have their brains eaten or be tortured to death by a gang of truckers in woods? is there a real market in medical examiners selling pictures of dead twinks or is it a creative writing exercise?

2023.03.21 21:53 m80mike Don't Feed The Pumpkins
A rule breaking truck driver takes a forbidden detour.
Don't Feed the Pumpkins
I'm typing this as a record of what has happened to me. If someone should find me out here, where ever here is, this is what happened and who is responsible. Also, out of the dozens of vehicles bogged down in this field, mine is the Blue Jay 2013 Freight Liner. If I should die and it is recoverable, it should go to my son, John Grainger in Antioch, Illinois.
I left Litchfield Illinois around 2pm on Halloween with a last-minute load of pumpkins destined for the Antioch Walmart. Despite the fact I was once that told Illinois is the #1 pumpkin producer in the country the itself state appears to be in the midst of a shortage. I was due in about 8pm, but I was trying get in by 6pm and after unloading, I was going to visit my wife Carly and my son for Halloween. It was going to be the first Halloween in my son's life that I was going to be there for trick o treating. My wife was making a big deal out of it and John was 10 now, so, she said he would be “scarred with disappointment” if I didn't show now. So, I probably should have gotten better sleep the night before and sue me, I was gear jamming and popping go-pills like popcorn. Don't look down on me, don't be fooled, this is just the nature of the trucking industry. Everyone does it and I'm not afraid to tell it like it is.
Just after Normal on 39 I hit a wall of traffic. I could hear on the CB that there is a hazmat incident up ahead and they require special teams to clear it off. I, like the other truckers, get to gabbing on the radio, looking for shortcuts. To my surprise, after scrutinizing this route several times before, I was informed about a “gutshot” shortcut just ahead that could get in me into my destination at least an hour earlier, even with the fact I had sat in the backup for at least 45 minutes at this point. A second comrade in gears piped in and stated that the shortcut was closed. The first driver contradicted him and stated, he had used it two weeks ago, it was wide open country land you could go 70 the whole way, and the only town along the way had burned down in an industrial accident 30 years ago. The second trucker chimed in again. He said it was closed for tonight and only tonight and not to use it. I disregarded the second trucker, exited the interstate and followed the directions of the first trucker.
Well, Carly, you always said it would be this way. You always said, I needed to learn how to follow directions to not cut so many damn corners all the time. You always told me didn't put in the work, and the funny thing is, for the first time, on this drive, get there, I did. Sure, I cut all the corners, but I wanted to to put in the work. But you're right, I never put a second of effort in, and if this is how it ends, I suppose you're right, I never will. But I guess, one way or another, you're getting what you've wanted, what you text me, what you don't tell me about, and what I didn't care about. I was coming home for him and damn it, I know it won't hold up in court but I want my boy to get the damn truck!
Anyway, I found the road, 2 lanes clear to the sky, surrounded by corn and then pumpkin fields forever. My straight shot, I pushed 80 the whole way flying on cracked asphalt, diesel, and go-pills. Ahead, there were barricades and I applied the brakes and barely stopped in time. I got out and saw they were chained up with a padlock to concrete posts in the ground. In theory, I could blast through them but I would sustain serious damage. The ground was a bit wet so I didn't think I could cross the ditch and field and not get stuck either. The barricades were not official in the least. They had a sign on them made out of it mailbox stick-on letters which said: “Do Not Feed The Pumpkins”. As far as I could see from my cab and binoculars, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the damn road. I said hell and I knew it would take hours to reverse course and get back in time – in time to even unload much less make it in time to go trick o treating.
And I said it wasn't worth it. I didn't bother to call. I'd just show up now. Because it wasn't my fault. So I started back, turning around with great difficulty. I traveled back 2 miles and saw small signs for a rest area. I must have missed it the first time, too deep into the zone I suppose now. I needed to pee and probably eat a bit before starting a roundabout way back, so I stopped. It was a little old 2 story joint with a small dinner on the 1st level and looked like 4 or 5 small motel rooms on top and oddly an outhouse for a restroom. I want to emphasize the outhouse because that is how you'll find and catch this guy, the guy who did this to me. It was Bill Shaw of Shaw's Shack, who did this to me. It had a sign with the building, it too was made of stick-on letters and vaguely resembled a huge ransom note. It read “Yes! We are open! We are the only rest area for 67 miles and 1 of 2 “tombstones” for the late great town of Pumpkin Grove Illinois – the former pumpkin capital of Illinois. Ask Your host, Bill Shaw about the Pumpkin-beef-bean stew!
The parking lot had three vehicles in it, not including my own, a silver Prius, a grand cheeroke with wood panels, and an older model chevy pick up truck. I went inside. The dinner was small, set in a rustic décor with old license plates nailed to the walls. The cafe had eight counter seats and two smaller tables near the two windows. There were two witnesses to what happened that night, to what Bill Shaw did – at least partial witnesses. There was the older man with stringy white hair and octagonal glasses – unfortunately, I didn't get his name. There was that irritating millennial – All I remember is the metal crap in her ears and lip. Hell, if I die and John starts ever pulling that crap, I'll come back and haunt the crap out of both of you. Anyway, now, I wish I could remember their names or something else about them to put here. I didn't care about either one of them enough to remember.
I guess that goes for Shaw too. He was a bit taller as sometimes I couldn't see his face while sitting at the counter because of the low lights in the ceiling blocking his face. He had gray hair. Hell. That's it. Anyway, the old man said he was part of a historical society, said he spent the better part of his past two years tracking down anyone or anything about Pumpkin Grove. The college student – of course – it was college student said she was from the school newspaper, looking for a spooky story. When she asked me where I was from, I didn't respond.
Shaw came from the kitchen with two big bowls of the famous Pumpkin-beef-bean stew for first two. He seemed taken back by my presence for a bit before saying “howdy” and trying to get real friendly with me. He asked what media I was from. I told him I wasn't from no media and I was trying to get through the barricade up ahead. Neither of the other two seemed to know about the barricade. Shaw said he didn't know anything about it either. I was suspicious of him then because of the lettering on the signs. But I didn't push it. I wanted to eat and he said my choice was the stew or stew. So the stew seemed fine. He said he wished he had more time to chat with me but he promised to tell the story of Pumpkin Grove to the two others but I was welcome to listen and ask questions. I didn't say it but I couldn't care less, I was going no where fast and I needed to eat.
He started off by saying he and his wife are among a handful of survivors of the fire that consumed the town of Pumpkin Grove some 30 years ago on Halloween night. Then his story descended into a cross between a rambling fading nightmare and a ghost story. He said, without hesitation, fear of consequence or remorse that he was accessory to a murder in his childhood. Specifically, some 40 years ago, again on Halloween, he was friends with a small group of young men including one named Donnie, who was a little slow and had a slightly misshaped head. He was picked on a lot by the Gerst Brothers, notorious town bullies and teenage thugs of a bad seed thanks to their neglectful alcoholic single father. Long story short, he said, the Gerst Brothers lured Donnie, himself and another 2 boys out to a pumpkin field where they gave back Donnie's missing dog. Apparently they kidnapped the dog and wrapped every inch of it in duct tape a few days ago. They watched us try to peel and pull the duct tape off while the weakened, hungry, and thirsty dog whimpered away its last in the field. Unbeknownst to any of us, Donnie had a pocket knife and he lost it as the Gerst Brothers cackled around him and the dead dog. He leaped up as they laughed and sliced the vein on their necks. One of the Brothers died quickly while Donnie and the two others fought the other to death. Shaw said he just stood there, covered in arterial blood splatters, watching Donnie and the others finish off the Gersts.
Much of the town was shockingly grateful to hear the Gerst Brothers were dead and everyone was all too happy to sweep it under the rug rather than have 4 of their sons incarcerated for decades when they were needed to help with the town's bread and butter – the Pumpkins. So, they buried the Gerst Brothers in that field and grew pumpkins on their corpses and no one really talked about it. The town paid off their father, who was too inebriated most of the time to care and he gleefully drank himself to death on the payoff only about a year later.
I didn't have much of a reaction to the story. The historian on the other hand, was hesitant to stay and keep writing and he made a brief protest concerning whether or not the story was true and whether or not he could legally listen to it. Shaw said it was both true and legal. After all, there was nothing left of the town and the remains were long gone and he himself, would not bare witness to himself. The college student's dumb metal encrusted mouth was agape in a mix of horror and disbelief.
I was waiting, patiently, might I add, for my stew. Shaw promised it would be up soon. He continued the story, stating that the fields produced abnormally well afterwards and 10 years later he was visiting his parents with his girlfriend for the annual Pumpkin fest. It was just that the pumpkins weren't just more numerous and larger, or more resistant to the rains and the fungus, they were alive and nothing could keep them tame or from spreading wider and wider. And everyone thought this was great at first, the profits were never higher but then weird things began to happen. Equipment went missing and two farm hands were crushed by a wagon full of pumpkins tipping over onto them in what was at first called a freak accident. Shaw recounted how he took his girlfriend through one of the patches and the vines seem to wind and grapple her legs, of course, Shaw's folks passed it off as her not being used to the mud but Shaw said he knew better.
Shaw continued to describe that over the days that led up to Halloween, the Jack O Lanterns on people's porches and elsewhere began to do some unusual things. Things like seemingly move by themselves from dusk to dawn, changing the carvings of their faces slightly, or appearing to “jump” off a table onto the porch without damage or apparent cause. On the morning of Halloween, Shaw said that he found his black cat, Lucky, incinerated in front of a jack o lantern as if it had breathed fire on to it from its mouth though they had long ago blown out the candle inside.
After the cat burning, the elderly man from the historical society tossed his spoon in his bowl. Shaw asked if something was wrong. The elderly man got up to leave and he said it tasted like bitter cold bull and his story was bull and thanked him for nothing. After checking the remaining contents of his bowl of stew, Shaw chased him out of the door, to his car, asking him what direction he planned to go home. When he peeled out of the parking lot he was headed southwest. Shaw came back in and threw up his hands.
I tell nothing but the truth, he said, most people can't handle it. Part of me wanted to go, but I was cozy there, it was warm and the story, while bull to me at the time, was entertaining enough. The SJW sitting down the way looked exhausted, barely keeping her eyes open as Shaw finished out the story. In short he said, Donnie approached him at dusk on Halloween while he and his family sat on the porch eagerly awaiting trick o treaters. Donnie said the Gerst Brothers are alive in the pumpkins and that they planned to burn the whole town down tonight. Donnie said, he had to tell Shaw because Shaw wasn't supposed to die, he was supposed to watch.
I rudely stopped him and demanded more stew. I was still hungry and the stew was somehow unsatisfying. When he returned, he finished the story, stating the town was suddenly engulfed in flames and their house in particular with Donnie on the porch, flash burned to the ground like napalm from an exploding pumpkin. He escaped with his family and his future wife in the pick up truck sitting outside now.
The college student said she felt like she needed to lay down, that she didn't think she could make back to the campus to the north. Shaw attended to getting her one of the rooms upstairs. I stayed down stairs and went to the back for more stew. I rubbed my eyes intensely and felt as if I too should stay for the night. But in the tug of war between fatigue and dexrine, the dexrine was slowly coming out ahead.
Next to the stew was a cutting board and a knife and on it was some bluish whitish powder which I found peculiar. On floor was a bottle of medication. It was Insomnex – a sleeping pill I use when I'm coming off of dexrine. The stew was dosed.
I ran to my truck and pulled out my dexrine and my revolver. As I climbed out of the driver's side, I could see Shaw running out of the dinner with a huge kitchen knife. I ducked under the trailer and back out on his side and pointed the gun at him.
What the hell I asked as I slowly advanced on him with my snub nose pointed at his head. He dropped the knife. He said, I just wanted to puncture your tires, I had to do something to stop you. I know you want to go north and I know you might be crazy enough and your truck tough enough to smash the barricades but I can't let you. I can't let anyone else go through, he said hysterically. I asked the dumb question about whether or not he set the barricades and just as I previously suspected, he did.
I'm supposed to watch, Shaw cried. No one can get through tonight, no can be allowed to. I told him to shut up as he rambled on about how he and his wife took it upon themselves to ward off travelers on Halloween Night. Its a cursed road tonight, he said, we're cursed to stay here and this is the best we can do to stop it from spreading. Its been calling us for 30 years, he went on, we tried to walk away but it kept on spreading, the pumpkins, he said gritting his teeth in anguish.
Maybe it was the dexrine and the insomnex working together, hell maybe it was the stew by itself but I just started to laugh as I guided Shaw back into the dinner and proceeded to duct tape him down to the dinner chair to make sure he could not cause anymore harm to anyone else until the police arrived. I had some cash on me, I wasn't a criminal, I wasn't going to make it seem like I tied him up and dinned and dashed, I was in the right, I was doing the lawful thing. So I left him exact change, no tip for the food. In the process of making change for myself, I found the padlock key in the cash drawer, I was certain of it at the time as I waved it in front of Shaw and he gasped and thrashed behind the duct tape the hardest.
I got into my truck and gunned it north towards the barricades, which, as I suspected was easily opened with the key I confiscated from Shaw. I got on my CB and started making emergency calls to the State Police, I gave them my name, the location of the diner, and Shaw's name. I was in the middle of nowhere so it didn't surprise me when I got static and no acknowledgment. I had no bars on my cell phone either but that is typical of central Illinois.
I was going along about 70. The sun was almost down but I hadn't seen the moon yet. I turned on the radio and found a classic rock station. The song was Born on the Bayou from CCR. The opening riff perked me up and reassured me that I had done everything all well and all good. If things held, there was a chance, I could get my freight unloaded and see John tonight. I was eagerly tapping the steering wheel waiting to bust into “When I was just a little boy...” But just as the lyrics should have entered, the radio station seemed to have accidentally reset the song, it just started over.
The sun faded away entirely and yet no moon came up. The sky was so dark but I didn't remember seeing any clouds or expecting any for that matter. The song continued restarting itself, the same opening again and again. I flipped through the other stations and all of them had it playing. Eventually, the digital clock on my dash began to spin wildly like the LCD numbers on the tuner while in scan mode. The truck buffeted and shook side to side despite my headlights showing no cause for it.
To my shock, ahead, in the distance was single traffic light. It was went from green, to yellow, and red, as any other traffic light but there were no lights or towns on this road. I slowed to 40, then 35 then to 30 as I entered an unnamed densely populated area with small buildings, stores, and houses and one traffic light. I came to a stop at the light and I looked around, locked my doors and tried to glimpse where I was. Where ever I was, I felt, I felt like I shouldn't be there. There were dim orange lights in some of the rooms of the houses at the edge of the intersection.
I looked up at one of the windows and I saw a figure with large head in the window. I couldn't believe my eyes at least not until the figure turned to face outward. It was a jack o lantern, a classic one with a black glow where the eyes, nose, and mouth sat. It was held up right by a thin vine structure that seemed to grow and stretch as it stuck its head out of the window and let out a barely audible shrill whistle and stared directly at me.
I gunned it. I blew the red light as the town seemed to collapse into nothing by dark green swelling pumpkin vine and a sea of glowing jack o lanterns in my side view mirrors. I hit the radio off because all I could hear on it was that whistle filtering through. I drove and the mass of jack o lanterns grew in the mirrors. I glimpsed the left and right windows and the plains were glowing black with more pumpkins rolling and creeping towards the road.
The road began to warp and bend as I started to red line my truck. The buffeting side to side became difficult to control as the engine groaned. I couldn't explain how the road began to shift nor how the moon, blood orange began to circle around me from horizon to horizon. Aside from the moon, I thought I was making progress as I couldn't see the vines nor the hundreds of blacklight pumpkins swirling after me.
The moon slowed and dipped down and I started climbing a hill. As I crested, the moon filled the entire windshield and more. It spun and then settled on a black light pumpkin face and bore down on the cab.
I don't know what happened next but I woke up in my cab. The was engine smoking. All I could see was mud and putrid rotten pumpkins as far as I could see. My Blue Jay was sunk up to the cab down in mud, vines and rot. It wasn't going anywhere in it without some serious assistance. To my right and left I saw dozens of other vehicles, most of them at least ten years old, also up their doors in mud and rot. Swarms of flies were visible all around in the boiling midday sun. I'm not really sure how long it has been or what time it really was because the clock on my phone is broken and simply reads as 99:99. I don't know what day it is. I have no cell signal and no radio.
Carly, I need to be honest with you. I cheated on you. Maybe a dozen times. I did it before I thought, before I knew you were doing it to me. I can't live by the rules of trucking, or marriage or anything. It is the road and you command it and that is the only rule. But now, I'm worried I've broken my last rule. I have no food and no water. There is no road here. There is only rule of a blazing sun with jack o lantern face that never sets. I fear that in time, unless I find help or help finds me, I will be feeding the pumpkins.

2023.03.21 21:35 mtnbkr1880 Help Needed Stopping Land Swap in S. Utah
TL;DR - If you're familiar with or have been to southern Utah, then you may have been to Sand Hollow or Sand Mountain in St. George, UT. There's a land swap proposed between the BLM and a land developer that would trade 1050 acres of BLM land for 89 acres the land developer currently owns. If you have time,
please submit a public comment via email to blm_ut_sgfo_[email protected] and express your concerns.
The Issue:
BLM and the Washington County Water Conservancy District have proposed a land exchange that would involve swapping 1050 acres of the Western Edge of Sand Mountain near Warner Valley with 89 acres of land in Washington near Green Springs, apparently owned by His Family/Brennan. Washington County is designated as the Facilitator of the Exchange. You can learn more at the BLM E Planning website,
EplanningUi (blm.gov). You can also see the Public Scoping Notice which is attached.
We also obtained plans by the City of Washington to annex much of the acquired area into their City, which may be a significant influence in the exchange.
The proposed action just entered the Public Scoping phase, which is scheduled to conclude at 5:00 PM on April 13, 2023. UPLA, DRATS, Mayor Nanette Billings (Hurricane), BlueRibbon Coalition, and Tri State ATV have been meeting with BLM, Water Conservancy, and the City of Washington to learn more about the project.
We were previously informed when the reservoir was done, we would lose the lower parts of Fault Line and Sandcutter, as well as the camping/staging area near Hwy 7, but when we learned that, we constructed the Ridgeline Trail at substantial expense to maintain access from Warner Valley.
We are extremely concerned for many reasons, including the following:
- BLM will give up 1050 acres of Sand Mountain in exchange for 89 acres in St George
- We will lose access to the West Rim Trail, the Restroom on Pipeline Road, the disbursed camping areas, and possibly the Ridgeline Trail we constructed to mitigate the reservoir loss.
- We will lose staging and camping in Warner Valley
- There has apparently been no decision about what agency would oversee recreation in the newly acquired area, but it seems likely it will become a fee area.
- If access to Sand Mountain is impaired from Washington Dam, it will impact the load on other roads including our newly constructed Waddy’s Corral Staging area.
- We are extremely concerned that the City of Washington will be annexing the land surrounding Pipeline Road and West Rim, and that they may permit development on top of the Rim; the views over a lake will skyrocket land values. Development would bring a whole host of issues including loss of the tremendous views from above by having buildings/homes on top of the ridge, user conflicts between residents/occupants and OHV users.
- We only have 30 days to inform the public and submit scoping comments.
We have been working hard on this for 4 weeks to get this information.
This is the part where we need you! What we need you to do: - Submit Your Comments Electronically using your choice of methods:
- By email sent to [blm_ut_sgfo_[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) with a copy to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])
- Visiting Blueribbon Coalition’s Action Alert at https://www.sharetrails.org/stop-the-sale-of-sand-mountain/#/104/
- The deadline has been extended till Midnight April 19, 2023.
- Stay Engaged. We are only in the first inning of an overtime game. If you’re not getting the UPLA and DRATS Emails, sign up for them today to stay informed. UPLA site link.
Following is a brief description of the Scoping process in the NEPA Review that may guide you in formulating your questions/comments for the meeting. We will have a handout for you when you enter the meeting. The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requires the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), to involve the public in the planning process and seek their input through a scoping process. Effective NEPA scoping comments for BLM should pose the questions or issues to be looked at, not provide answers. - Specific information about the proposed project and its potential impacts on the environment and local communities.
- Identification of any alternatives to the proposed project that could mitigate or avoid potential negative impacts.
- Discussion of the potential cumulative effects of the proposed project in combination with other past, present, and reasonably foreseeable future actions.
- Analysis of potential impacts on wildlife, water resources, cultural and historic resources, and other sensitive environmental resources.
- Request for meaningful public participation throughout the NEPA process, including opportunities for public comment and involvement in decision-making.
- Request for transparency and disclosure of all relevant information, including scientific data and analysis, underlying assumptions, and potential conflicts of interest.
- Discussion of any potential economic impacts of the proposed project, including impacts on local jobs, property values, and tax revenue.
- Recommendation for monitoring and mitigation measures to minimize or address any adverse environmental impacts.
- Discussion of any potential long-term impacts of the proposed project on the environment and local communities.
- Request for BLM to consider the full range of alternatives and potential impacts, rather than limiting the analysis to a narrow set of options.

2023.03.21 21:35 Who_What_Where_1406 WIBTA if I took my cats post-break up even though my ex has cared for them the past 1.5 years?
Joining Reddit specifically to get advice about this since it's tearing me up inside. My ex-bf of 7 years and I recently mutually broke up. Though it was mutual, I am doing objectively better than he is post-break up. I have 2 wonderful cats that I am the legal owner of. They were just mine for 2 years before my ex-bf and I initially moved in together 3 years ago (so I've owned them 5 years). After my ex-bf and I moved in together, we have considered ourselves co-parents and call ourselves Mom and Dad.
Fast-forward to 1.5 years ago, I left our home to travel for 1.5 years and he took over care of the cats for that period of time. I've now returned, and planned to take the cats with me when I move to the west coast permanently (he's staying in the midwest). We both want the cats and we both also want what's best for each other so we're at an impasse as to what to do.
Other relevant information: I'm carrying a lot of guilt about how hard of a time my ex is having post-breakup. He's very depressed and I feel I ruined his life. Taking away the cats, who have been a large part of his support system, feels cruel. His mom died several years ago and his remaining family (dad and sister) aren't very supportive. I, his friends, my family, and the cats have been his main support.
Even more relevant information: my ex-bf is more readily set up to care for the cats. I do travel for pleasure and sometimes for work. I do everything in my power to give them the best care, but knowing my ex doesn't leave home that often is making me feel even more guilty, that I would put the cats through a cross-country move and ask them to settle in to a new home and then be gone a few times a year for 1-2 weeks at a time.
On the other hand, the cats are my babies and I love them more than I can express. Thinking about giving them up makes me sob uncontrollably, as I have been doing for days.
This is a lot and is probably chaotic to read but that's the current state of my brain.
Would I be the asshole if I took the cats?

2023.03.21 21:11 P0PE_F0X I asked Chat GPT to write a early Anthony Fantano review of Ye's next album "Mos Eisley"
Hey there, internet! Anthony Fantano here, the internet's busiest music nerd, and today we're going to talk about Kanye West's latest release, "Mos Eisley." For those of you who don't know, "Mos Eisley" is a reference to the fictional spaceport in the Star Wars franchise, and Kanye has always been known for his affinity for sci-fi and futuristic themes. But does this album live up to the hype? Let's find out.
Right off the bat, I have to say that "Mos Eisley" is one of Kanye's most experimental projects to date. The beats are all over the place, with everything from glitchy electronics to ethereal strings to heavy metal riffs. It's clear that Kanye is trying to push the boundaries of what hip hop can sound like, and I can respect that.
The album kicks off with "Welcome to Mos Eisley," and right away, we're hit with some hard-hitting beats and spacey synths that set the tone for the rest of the album. Kanye's rapping is on point here, and the chorus is infectious. Definitely a strong start to the album.
Next up, we have "Jedi Mind Tricks," and this track has a more laid-back vibe compared to the previous one. The production is more stripped back, and Kanye's flow is more relaxed. The chorus is once again catchy, and the lyrics are clever.
But here's the thing: while the production is certainly impressive, the songwriting is hit-or-miss. Some tracks, like "Tatooine Dreams" and "Jedi Mind Tricks," showcase Kanye's lyricism and flow at their best, with clever wordplay and introspective musings on fame and fortune. But other tracks, like "Sith Lord Anthem" and "Death Star Destruction," come off as gimmicky and over-the-top, with clunky rhymes and cheesy Star Wars references.
Moving on to "Kessel Run," and this track is definitely a standout on the album. The beat is insane, and Kanye's rapping is more aggressive here. The chorus is memorable, and the verses are filled with Star Wars references that will make any fan smile.
It's also worth noting that "Mos Eisley" is a relatively short album, clocking in at just under 40 minutes. While I appreciate the brevity, I can't help but feel like some of the songs could have benefited from more fleshing out. "Boba Fett's Revenge," for example, feels like it ends just as it's getting started, and "Lightsaber Symphony" could have used a longer instrumental section to really let the orchestra shine.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "Tatooine Nights," where Kanye reflects on his rise to fame and the toll it has taken on his mental health. The haunting melody and introspective lyrics make this one of the most emotional tracks on the album.
"Dark Side of the Force" is next, and this track has a more ominous feel to it. The production is haunting, and Kanye's rapping is more introspective. The chorus is once again on point, and the lyrics touch on themes of temptation and power.
We then have "Lightsaber Battle," and this track is a banger. The beat is heavy, and Kanye's flow is on point. The chorus is once again memorable, and the verses are filled with references to the iconic lightsaber duels from the Star Wars movies.
"Carbonite," is up next, and this track has a more experimental feel to it. The production is more atmospheric, and Kanye's rapping is more subdued. The chorus is still catchy, and the lyrics are more abstract and open to interpretation.
Another thing I appreciate about "Mos Eisley" is how it balances its futuristic themes with real-world issues. On "Space Race," Kanye raps about the impact of climate change on our planet, and how we need to look to the stars for a new home. It's a poignant track that shows Kanye's range as a lyricist.
One of the standout aspects of this album is the guest appearances. Kanye has brought in some heavy hitters, including Tyler The Creator, Pharrell Williams, Grimes, and even a surprise appearance from the legendary Yoko Ono. Each feature adds a unique flavor to the album, with Tyler bringing his trademark zaniness to "Laser Beams," Pharrell adding a smooth touch to "Spaceship," and Grimes providing ethereal vocals on "Gravity Well." Yoko Ono works surprisingly well as the narratomother figure for the persona Kanye has created, going by the name "YeVader" on the record. It's impressive how Kanye manages to integrate these features into his vision for the album without losing any of his own identity.
That being said, "Mos Eisley" isn't without its flaws. At times, the experimentation can feel a little overwhelming, with tracks like "Alien" and "Starship" bordering on chaotic. And while the features add a lot to the album, there are a few moments where they overshadow Kanye's own contributions.
Finally, we have "The Force Will Be With You," and this track is a perfect closer to the album. The production is more uplifting, and Kanye's rapping is more motivational. The chorus is once again infectious, and the lyrics touch on themes of hope and perseverance.
Now, let's address the elephant in the room. YeVader. Yes, Kanye has taken on this new moniker and it's hard to ignore. But honestly, it fits the theme of the album perfectly. The Star Wars reference is not only a nod to his love for the franchise, but also speaks to the idea of being a larger-than-life figure with immense power and influence.
Overall, "Mos Eisley" is a strong addition to YeVader's discography. It may not be his most accessible or radio-friendly project, but it's a daring and ambitious work that will satisfy his die-hard fans and leave them hungry for more. I'm giving this one a 8 on this thing. Keep the music coming, YeVader.

2023.03.21 21:11 yeroc_sema 1nDone Snowflake IM - The progress till now (ep1-5 spoilers)
Let's try this again without everyone thinking I'm Idyl because of my poorly made post... I meant to post this when I had some notable progress on the account, which I now have, but I also have a terrible problem with procrastinating so I can play runescape. You probably wouldn’t understand…
This post and future posts are meant for those more interested in immediate updates about progress rather than watching a progress series. But if you would rather watch the episodes the playlist
here.
THE RULES
Here is the concept. Treat gilenor as you would real life. Any action not repeatable in the real world is not repeatable in game. Killing a specific creature, picking an item up off the ground, mining a rock, chopping down a tree, hunting a creature, collecting some quest items, etc. etc.
For simplicity's sake, and my own sanity, actions like shearing a sheep or cutting down jungle brush, actions that would be repeatable after a relatively short time irl will also be treated as one time resources. I have also applied this logic to the inventory of shops, deciding that I may only buy up to the base inventory of any given item in any particular shop. (Ie 3 buckets in a shop I can only ever buy 3 buckets from that shop)
THE GOALS
- Complete every possible quest that does not remove a more difficult quest from the available options. (If completing ratcatchers would for some reason stop me from completing shilo village or something obviously harder and more important it will be skipped)
- Complete a grandmaster quest. No, I do not know if this is possible with my restrictions.
- Utilize every resource Gilenor has to offer, no tree unchopped, no rock unmined, no creature unkilled, no item not picked up. Basically, piss off the world, my character is a real stand-up guy.
TRACKING PROGRESS
- The tracking of everything previously mentioned will be through the use of tile tags. Depleted resources or picked up items will be marked with a plain tile tag. Shop inventories will be logged with labeled tile tags showing x/max inventory item bought.
- - Creature kills/hunts will be marked in the same manner, using a labeled tile tag to mark how many creatures killed in a particular spawn grouping. All of these will be doubly logged through screenshots, google docs, and spreadsheets so if my tile tags are lost my account isn’t over.
- Chunk maps will also be used to visualize the overall progress of the account, using different chunk maps to show chunks that have completely depleted resources, no creatures left to kill, areas with no more item spawns, and chunks that have had all available content utilized.
A few notable things:
- I am an ironman, not a uim, I have access to banks
- I am not area locked, I have free range of gilenor. I am simply using chunks to log progress.
- If an npc explicitly states that they have multiple/infinite of an item/service (ardougne cloak for example) I am able to reclaim that item if lost or continually utilize that resource.
My early progress in the first few days of the account. These will be spoilers for episodes 1-5 of my 1nDone series, so if you don’t want to ruin an episode you should not go further.
EPISODE 1 SPOILERS
- I began by killing (12xp wasted in atk, the rest in str) an imp, some rats, some spiders, and a woman in lumbridge before pickpocketing to get to level ten theiving or so. No particular reason for this, I was kind of just feeling out my system and getting used to the unusual gameplay.
- I then began clearing the first chunk as much as possible. I’m not planning on clearing runescape chunk by chunk, but I do want to do this here to get a better understanding of the process in its entirety.
- I did restless ghost, forgot the skeleton in mage tower attacks you and I had to run away, wasting the xp it provides since I cannot ever pick that skull up again from the alter.
- Next I ran up to varrock to max out the available attack xp training on combat dummies and got up to level 8 attack with only 12 of that xp wasted since I forgot to switch to strength when I first started killing things. EPISODE 2 SPOILERS
- On my way back I stopped to film an intro bit for my series, then running back to lumbridge dc’d next to the prison and died to a guard, losing my hardcore status 📷
- I then began chopping down every regular tree in the Lumbridge chunk.
- First beginner clue scroll out of a nest and Im able to complete it right away for leather vambraces and an earth staff.
- I then chopped down the rest of the trees in the chunk and just before completion got lvl 10 woodcutting, which surprised me. It really doesn’t seem like there are that many trees in this chunk at first glance.
- I decided to chop into the chunk west of lumbridge as well so I could get my wc high enough to chop oaks so I could clear those out of the lumbridge chunk as well and get a feel for how to handle multiple log trees since I will be banking all logs I chop for almost the entirety of the account. When I finally got to a tree that gave me more than a full inventory i dropped logs and chopped until it was cut down, refreshed the dropped log pile, banked the inventory, and ran back and collected the dropped logs.
- I then picked up every loose item spawn and searched every crate and sack (theyre all empty in Lumbridge by the way).
- I then did cook’s assitant, marking the wheat and eggs required to complete the quest, but not marking the cow because as in irl you can milk a cow multiple times.
- While collecting those items I also started the sheep shearer quest. I sheared all of the sheep on fred’s pen which only turned out to be 16 sheep, 4 short of what fred asks for.
- I then went around to the different pockets of sheep in asgarnia to collect up their wool. Did you know that there are only 80 sheep in all of runescape, and a handful of those can’t even be sheared? In Asgarnia, besides Fred’s 16 sheep, there are 10 south of varrock, 3 west of Edgeville, and 7 at the Makeover Mage (but i forgot about them) and 2 unshearable sheep just west of Lumbridge castle. I sheared all available sheep, at least 6 out of those were not able to be sheared since they are models of the sheep that do not have excess wool.
- I then began my journey of woodcutting into further chunks. I wasn’t quite sure what to do so I thought maybe just focusing on cutting down all the trees from the salve to the member’s gate would be a good idea.
- Quickly in to this i got a clue scroll that required me to get level 10 fishing to catch a herring for charlie the tramp.
- I decided to cut down the regular trees around the mage training arena after training up to level 10 fishing at the spots south of the al kharid bank.
- I got level 30 woodcutting chopping the trees around varrock and then went back to lumbridge to chop a willow there first, helping to clear out the first chunk.
- I pickpocketed my way up to 1k gp then went back to varrock to buy a house. I kept on choppin and got a clue scroll that required us to get level 14 crafting to make a leather body for charlie.
EPISODE 3 SPOILERS
- I went to the HAM hideout to pickpocket ham members for the buttons to see how far along that and opals from them could get me through crafting.
- That didnt’ seem to be doing so well so I decided to do some easy quests that reward crafting xp. We got our first easy clue.
- On the way to complete it I went through ardougne and stole items from the first stall. For stealing from stalls, we only ever steal from it one time for each item on it that resembles what we can steal. I stole from the baker’s stall, which has 7 items on it, so when I had stolen from it 7 time I stopped and tagged the tiles it was placed on to denote that it was depleted.
- I got several clue scrolls from ham members I could not do due to crafting level requirements which I dropped. After about 4 or 5 of these I decided I would not be dropping anymore clue scrolls that were not completely impossible for me for one reason or another.
- I started both the great kourend quest and the corsair’s curse quest for clue scroll access but did not complete either quest.
- I then got a clue scroll that required me to get level 31 crafting to make an emerald necklace.
- I then did goblin diplomacy, using red and yellow dye from an infinite source located on some shelves in a house to the south of the farming guid in kourend as to not use up any permanent resources in the world.
- While I was in Kourend I sheared all of the sheep there as well, 12 at watsons house and 2 in hosidius, all shearable. On the way back to the mainland I stopped by the makeover mage and sheared the 7 that were there.
- I began killing the rams here as well just to clear them out of the world since they are not used for slayer. I took a trip over to ardougne to shear the 10 sheep that were there as well to collect all the currently available wool to use.
- After spinning al of the collected wool I was at level 6 with about half of the way to level 7 completed as well.
- I then started rag and bone man and then killed every ram in gilenor besides one I could not reach in lletya. I got the ram skull.
- I then did misthalin mystery quest. This got me up to level 10 crafting. I also cut down all the trees in the quest area.
- I killed a giant rat for the rat tail bone for rag and bone man.
- I then did dwarf cannon quest which needs no resources I did not already have. This got me up to level 13 crafting.
- I made a gold necklace and a few pieces of leather armor (made from leather from ham pickpocketing) to get to level 14 crafting, then made a leather body to finish off the beginner clue that started this crafting grind.
- I then went up to seers village and picked all of the flax. I picked the flax until it disappeared and then marked the tile where it was marking it as depleted. I got a total of 250 bowstrings from this and got up to level 22 crafting.
- I then did murder mystery quest which got me to level 24 crafting. I also discovered an infinite source of flour for my account. The barrel in the murder mystery house can be filled with a pot and the flavor text says that there is plenty more.
- I collected up every resource in the chunk and killed everything except for the level 64 wolves for obvious reasons.
- I then went and did druidic ritual, killing the bear north of falador before starting. The rest of the required meats were already banked from previous kills or buying from shops.
- I ran into issues killing the bear with magic so quickly went and did witch’s potion, killing all of the rats in rimmington and marking that with a tile.
- I finished druidic ritual and again picked up some various items, marking them as I did. I also gathered up the flax from the 3 plants in taverly, I got a total of 16 flax.
- Being close to port sarim I took the boat to lands end and collected 10 flax, depleting the plants there, I also picked the redberry bushes. As always, the depleted resources were marked with a ground tile.
- I ran up to the field in hosidius to collect up the flax there as well. I lost track of the number I got from that field but followed the usual process marking them.
- I then went to uzer in the desert to do the golem quest. I mined 4 clay at the mine where the phoenix is, marking the clay and marking a tile saying I had collected the feather.
- I picked a black mushroom in the uzer basement, marked it.
- While stealing the golem quest item from the museum I did the natural history quiz to get level 9 slayer and hunter.
- I finished the golem quest for level 25 crafting and level 28 thieving. I collected the gems from the demon throne.
- I chopped down the singular teak tree in the uzer ruin chunk (the newer teak trees weren’t in the game at the time of this recording) for 2 teak logs.
EPISODE 4 SPOILERS
- I did observatory quest, using the nearby super antiposion spawn (I should not have used it here, I realize now) and not killing any creatures along the way. I picked up every bone in the observatory basement and buried it. This got me no prayer levels, and my quest reward was 3 tuna and a sapphire, as well as getting me up to level 27 crafting.
- I went back down and killed the 4 rats in the observatory basement.
- I spun up my 240 flax collected which got me up to level 30 crafting.
- I then collected up all of the flax in and around the gnome stronghold which yielded me 360 flax. I spun this flax up which got me to level 33 crafting.
- I made an emerald necklace for the clue, bought some iron platelegs in al kharid, and an oak longbow in varrock, all for the clue.
- Upon realizing I couldnt wield the bow I decided to try for my first slayer task, and I got 19 scorpions which didn’t go well with my single digit range level, especially since my dumbass tried ranging with IM armor thinking it had a range boost 😅. So i decided to get level 5 range by killing every spider spawn on the surface of the world. This is an example of a creature i can kill with impunity, its not used for quests or slayer, and although killing all 105 spiders left (after the 7 i killed in lumbridge) will put me well over the xp for 5 ranged I still want to go ahead and kill them all now since there’s no point in saving them for anything and it will help my tracking process if I can mark off a larger subset like all surface spiders rather than 3/x spawn groupings. I did unfortunately kill the 22 spiders in the wilderness which could have been used for wildy slayer but that is only 44 slayer xp wasted. I will still probably come to regret this.
- In killing the spiders in the lovakite mine i died to the gas clouds and almost lost my clue, but I got back in time to reclaim it. I then immedia did the clue before going back to finish off the rest of the spiders.
- I then went back to finish my slayer task. I decided to kill the 9 scorpions at al kharid mine, the one south of al kharid, the 6 at ruins of uzer, and the final 3 at the zoo in ardougne for a perfect 19 with no overlaps into other spawn groupings.
EPISODE 5 SPOILERS (comes out tomorrow)
- This episode was quite concentrated, we really just finished chopping the trees in the free to play area. I posted here about it when I finished and reddit kindly let me know I had missed the trees around the karamja volcano and in the sewers of varrock, and I also missed the single tree in the varrock castle bear cage.
- My original goal was to cut the trees from the salve to the members gate, although i had planned to get the karamja f2p trees I just forgot. I did cut down all the trees in the digsite area and silvarea. I did not cut down any trees in lands end but tuat was intentional, i plan to get those with the rest of kourend later.
- I got a back to back birds nest which is a 0.0015% chance.
- I got level 20 fishing for a clue scroll.
- At 14.5ish combat I couldn’t get the last willows at draynor because the dark mages kept attacking me. I decided to kill all the cows in the east lumbridge cow pen and the faldor farm cow pens. I thought they couldnt be assigned for a slayer task. I’m still not entirely sure if they can be, actually.
- We got the last part of the beekeeper outfit and will now begin recieving flax from that random even, which is great because i really need banked crafting xp
- I finished off the final trees with 157k woodcutting xp, at level 54 woodcutting, with 2245 regular logs, 1792 oak logs, and 509 willow logs.
- I finished off the episode by chopping my first maple tree, the one just south of seers village bank, and recieved a single log.
That is the progress up until the current point of the videos, the final of which (ep5) comes out tomorrow. The next post will come out approximately one day prior to episode 6 and I will endeavor to keep this format and system with future episodes and progress posts. I have a newly created discord for helping me keep track of the progress, the kill lists the shop inventory lists, npc interactions, and the various chunk maps to plot my progress. Thanks for checking this out!

2023.03.21 21:07 SaviousMT My review of the Diablo II Open Beta
Hello, I have been playing Diablo I since 1997 and am here to review the open beta for Diablo II.
I started the download before I went to bed last night, as the beta was a beefy 150 MB and as excited as I was to check it out, I didnt want to get the download interrupted by my mom picking up the phone, and my 56K US Robotics modem maxes out at 5.4 KBps.
The download went through, and I was able to install the beta without issue. I considered starting before I left for school, but that would just entice me to play hooky for the day and I have a biology test that I dont want to have to make up.
As soon as I got home from school, I immediately connected to the internet and went to jump in. Unfortunately, many other people had the same idea and I couldnt get in.
After a few hours though, I finally got in, and was able to make a Barbarian, as that is the only class available for the open beta. I was most excited to make a Paladin, but that will have to wait.
I stepped out into the Blood Moor with a few other barbarians, some who were already level 3! My first quest was to kill the Den of Evil. This was not as easy as it sounded, as there were several monsters that revived other monsters, and I kept having to kill them. Hopefully these get nerfed in the full game, as it was extremely tedious to have to keep fighting them over and over.
Eventually, I made it to the final boss of the Den of Evil, Corpsefire, a zombie with a pack of minions. I died to Corpsefire and his cronies at least 5 times, although I lost track and almost quit in frustration. He is definitely overtuned, his elemental damage is deadly. I had to ask for help from one of the higher level characters in the game to help me kill Corpsefire, and then when he finally succumbed, his body exploded killing me again. For the first quest of the game this seems way too difficult.
I eventually made my way through the rest of the Blood Moor and found the next area, the Cold Plains. I was very disappointed to find that it had the exact same tileset as the Blood Moor. Just more boring green grass and stone walls. Its a little disappointing that Blizz took the lazy route and just reused the same graphics for an entirely new area, and I think players will eventually get bored of looking at the same thing over and over.
Additionally, there was a "Waypoint" at the entrance to the Cold Plains, which allowed me to teleport back to town without using a town portal. This is clearly catering to newer players as a "save point", which is also very disappointing. Not having to run back to continue your fight against evil kind of takes away from the point of going back to town to rest unless you are using a town portal.
The cold plains had a dungeon called "Caves" which seemed very uninspired, and was the exact same tileset as the Den of Evil, just a cave with a bunch of monsters in it. The Cave had two floors to it though, and the second floor was much smaller and filled with a ton of powerful monsters. After many more deaths and struggling with mana issues, I was able to open the magic chest that contained a "chipped sapphire". I was able to socket this in my helm and increase my mana significantly, which helped me use bash 3 more times before I ran out of mana, greatly increasing my damage output.
I continued my adventures through the Cold Plains and found "The Burial Grounds". Within the Burial Grounds was an absolutely unkillable boss named Blood Raven. This monstrosity raised zombies from the ground to protect her, and ran so fast I could never actually get an attack off on her. After many many futile attempts at killing her, I simply left and made a new game titled "Blood Raven". Some level 7(!) characters joined the game and we all used the waypoint to the cold plains and rushed to find the Burial Grounds.
On the way, we found a Gem Shrine, which one of the higher level barbarians clicked and out popped a Ruby. I asked them what that was and they said it upgrades a gem in your inventory to the next level. I assume this is what the end game will consist of, as these gem shrines seem to be quite rare, and only finding chipped gems (I had found a couple more in my adventures) means it takes several gem shrines to upgrade a gem fully. I am curious to see how much power the gems provide, as they seem to be the focus of items.
These high level barbarians quickly dispatched Blood Raven for me, and a yellow hand axe popped out, which I wasnt even able to loot because they took it. I felt a little miffed because I had spent a lot of time trying to kill Blood Raven, only to have my reward taken by someone else.
I asked the other players what was next, and they replied "ng" and all left the game. Confused, I ran around the Burial Grounds and found no exit, so I went back to the Cold Plains to explore some more. The Cave was still there, but still scuffed from my last adventure into the Cave, I chose to explore more of the Cold Plains. After about 15 minutes I had discovered the whole area and killed all the monsters, only to find there was no exit.
I went back to the cave and was able to clear it out without too many deaths this time, and even found some better items to help, including a yellow quilted armor tha tgave me 2 strength. I also found a LOT of blue items, it seems like they hand out those like candy. Some of them seem super over powered, I found a belt that increased my stamina by 5 which is the most important stat if you are looking for speed, as youll spend all your gold on stamina potions otherwise.
I felt comfortable enough now that I could start farming, so I made a new game and looked for gem shrines. I gained another level getting my bash to level 4, and looked at the rest of the skills. Many of them seem uninteresting. There is a shout called battle orders which increases your life by a %, but my life is only 150 and getting a % increase to life seems to not be worth all the points it would take to get to unlock battle orders. There is a skill in one of the trees called Increased Stamina though, which is probably the best skill, as running out of stamina constantly is a pain. Unfortunately it is level 18 and I dont think its possible to get that high, even when the game is released, as my XP gain really started to taper off after getting to level 6. Only the most dedicated players will make it to that high of a level.
I played for another 15 hours or so over the next few days, farming for gem shrines, which was pretty boring. Eventually I got a Flawless Ruby, but the level requirement on it was level 12 and I wasnt even level 10. I tried the PvP out, and that was really uninteresting, it basically came down to you and your opponent standing their clicking each other until one of you died.
I have to say, after Diablo 1, I was expecting a lot more from Blizzard. Gem Shrines are cool to find, but they are so rare I am not sure how they can classify gem farming as an end game experience. The levels all looked the same, either grass and rocks or a cave. Blood Raven is still too difficult, even at my high level I struggle to track her down and kill her, but she drops good loot, sometimes a yellow item, and I am still trying to beat one of the other barbarians in a duel.
Im not holding my breath on this one, the end game seems boring and repetitive and I am tired of seeing green grass.

2023.03.21 20:41 Catvac-u-um_adnase A Texas federal judge has blocked the Biden administration’s “waters of the U.S.” rule from taking effect in his state and in Idaho.
In a ruling Sunday, U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Vincent Brown declined to issue a nationwide injunction sought by 18 associations but said the rule, due to go into effect Monday, raises constitutional questions that warrant enjoining its implementation in the two states.
The EPA and Army Corps of Engineers’ “effort to read navigability out of the (Clean Water Act)’s text to permit categorical encroachment on states’ rights raises constitutional questions this court should — if any other reasonable interpretation of the Act exists — avoid,” Brown said in his opinion.
The judge also said the Biden rule “is unlikely to withstand judicial review” because its version of the “significant nexus” test is “materially different from the standard” articulated by Justice Anthony Kennedy in the Supreme Court’s 2006 Rapanos decision.
“The agencies’ construction of the significant-nexus test ebbs beyond the already uncertain boundaries Justice Kennedy established for it,” Brown said. “Specifically, by extending the significant-nexus test to ‘interstate waters,’ and not just to those ‘waters . . . understood as ‘navigable,’ the rule disregards the Act’s ‘central requirement’ — ‘the word ‘navigable.’ ”
“The agencies’ interpretation of the act to include all interstate waters irrespective of any limiting principle raises serious federalism questions,” he also said.
Ruling on another requirement for an injunction, Brown said Texas and Idaho “have already shown irreparable harm because they will expend unrecoverable resources – monetary and otherwise – complying with a rule unlikely to withstand judicial scrutiny.”
The American Farm Bureau Federation applauded the ruling. “AFBF is pleased the district court ordered EPA and the U.S. Army Corps to halt implementation of the troubled 2023 WOTUS rule in Texas and Idaho,” AFBF President Zippy Duvall said. “The judge recognized the new rule likely oversteps EPA’s authority under the Clean Water Act, which creates uncertainty for the farmers and ranchers who must navigate the complicated regulations.”
