2023.06.07 03:48 yukiimaru23 One story for that one redditor.

I (20F) am writing this out of my agony and heartbreak. I dedicated this to someone (25M) I met here on reddit last March that probably turned into a mere stranger who knows my secrets. He was just 6 years my senior. If you're reading this, I hope your life now is much better and happier. You know, I still read the comic you gave on my birthday and I hope you looked at the music box I gave you and it would remind you of me.
Maybe you're reading this on your freetime or during work. I want you to know I miss you so much that my heart craves for your hugs that you refused to give last saturday afternoon. Your responses too were icy cold and dry, that made my sister and my best friend wondering if ever na magjowa pa ba tayo? Kasi they told me para kang naiilang while I waited in line.
I am still awake at 5 am— clinging in the hopes na magrereply or tatawag ka pa ba or hindi na. Pero it's just very rude of you to simply iwanan ako sa ere, left me drowning in the sea of uncertainty. My sister advised me na lay low muna ako and not chase you. But these won't stop me to write a mere story about our tragic flame that quickly extinguished in the span of 2 months, di natin alam if ever liliyab pa to ulit.
Anyways, enough abt this, here's one story dedicated for you.
C/W s*icide sa story.
In a quaint coastal town nestled between towering cliffs and the vast expanse of the sea, lived a young woman named Marianna. With a heart filled with boundless dreams and a soul drenched in romanticism, she longed for a love that would ignite her spirit and fill her existence with joy. Fate, in its unpredictable nature, led Marianna to a chance encounter with a sailor named Thomas.
Marianna, with her mesmerizing hazel eyes and an infectious smile, caught Thomas's attention as they crossed paths one fateful day. He was a man of the sea, weathered by countless voyages and adventures. Their connection was instantaneous, a magnetic pull drawing them together. They soon discovered a shared passion for literature, and it became the cornerstone of their budding relationship.
Every month, on a designated day, Marianna and Thomas would rendezvous at a cozy café nestled along a cobblestone street. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the warmth of their conversations, creating an ambiance of comfort and familiarity. From there, they would wander hand in hand to a charming bookstore, where they would lose themselves amidst the shelves, engrossed in tales of love, loss, and adventure.
Their shared love for books soon blossomed into a love for each other. When Thomas sailed away on his nautical voyages, Marianna's heart ached with longing. But they refused to let distance dim the flame that burned within them. Their correspondence became a lifeline, a testament to the strength of their love. Letters filled with heartfelt confessions, poetic declarations, and promises of eternal devotion bridged the gap between land and sea.
On Marianna's twentieth birthday, her heart fluttered with anticipation. She yearned for a celebration that would fill the void left by her own family, who seemed oblivious to her tender soul. And there, in the familiar embrace of the café, Thomas appeared with a mischievous smile, bearing a gift wrapped in delicate paper. It was one of his treasured books, adorned with a note that whispered of endless tales and shared adventures. Marianna's eyes sparkled with gratitude and love as she embraced the precious gift, treasuring the significance it held.
The day unfolded like a dream. Thomas took her hand, leading her on a journey of enchantment. They wandered through quaint streets, where the world seemed to fade away, leaving only their entwined souls. He taught her the art of shooting with a gun, a skill that bonded them even further. They strolled along the sun-kissed shoreline, their laughter and whispered secrets carried away by the gentle breeze.
As twilight painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, they found solace in a secluded hut, seeking respite from the world. In that haven, their desire and passion collided like crashing waves. They surrendered to the intensity of their love, words no longer able to convey the depth of their longing. Their bodies intertwined, hearts beating in unison, and in that moment, they felt a transcendence that only true lovers can know.
But as the weeks rolled by, an inexplicable change swept over their once vibrant love. The passionate letters that had once ignited their souls became scarce, devoid of the fervor and tenderness they had known. Marianna's heart, once buoyed by Thomas's affectionate words, now sank into a sea of uncertainty.
Anxiety gnawed at Marianna's fragile heart, pushing her to seek answers. They met again, amidst the joyful chaos of a vibrant festival. The atmosphere crackled with excitement, but a cold wind blew between them. The once radiant Thomas treated her with indifference, his eyes devoid of the spark that once captivated her. The pain of his aloofness seared through her, leaving her trembling with unspoken fears.
Summoning every ounce of courage, Marianna confronted Thomas, her voice quivering with desperation. Tears welled in her eyes as she pleaded for clarity, for a semblance of the love they once shared. But Thomas, like a sailor evading treacherous waters, deflected her questions, his gaze drifting into the distance. The ache in her chest deepened as he recoiled from her touch, a stark contrast to the warmth they had once shared. Her invitation to a future festival was met with a dismissive rejection, the final blow to her fragile hope.
With her heart shattered and no solace to be found, Marianna retreated into a desolate world of her own making. She penned her final letters, ink stained with the tears of a love unfulfilled. She poured her soul into every word, expressing her unwavering love for Thomas, yet grappling with the haunting question that plagued her every thought: Did he truly love her as he had professed? She reminded him of the promises they had woven, the vows of unyielding devotion that had bound them. Alongside the letters, Marianna placed a meticulously crafted music box—a token of their love, an embodiment of the melodies that once danced between them. Inside its delicate lid, the words "La vie en rose" were etched, a symbol of the vibrant world they had painted together.
With trembling hands, Marianna sent her final tokens of love into the world, never to be retrieved. A heavy veil of sorrow draped over her, obscuring the once radiant light within. She then retreated to the riverbank, her footsteps heavy with the weight of her despair. The moon shone brightly overhead, casting an ethereal glow upon her fragile figure as she gazed at the shimmering waters below.
In a white nightgown, she stood at the water's edge, her heart pounding with both longing and despair. The weight of unanswered questions and unfulfilled promises bore down upon her fragile frame. She longed for an escape from the torment that consumed her, a release from the suffocating grip of unrequited love. With one last glance at the starry sky, Marianna succumbed to the frigid embrace of the river, surrendering to its relentless current.
As the water swallowed her, Marianna's existence faded into the depths, her once vibrant spirit silenced forevermore.

2023.06.07 03:47 Shizno759 Mephrit List C&C, looking for advice or tips for an upcoming game.

Going to be playing a game or two this Saturday withnsome friends, but uve been on an awful losing streak so I'm looking for some guidance.
I'm semi-tailoring my list but that's only because it's there are only three factions I could potentially be playing, T. Sons Deathguard and Votann.
I'll give you my list and my thoughts as to why I'm bringing these units and if anyone has any insight, recommendations or even tips with these factions please let me know.
HQ
1 Chronomancer w/ VoD
1 Technomancer w/ Canoptek Cloak
Pretty simple with these. I didn't give any Cryptek Arkana because I don't feel as if any will help. Hypermaterial Ablator can just be straight up ignored by T.Sons and Votann, and I plan to have Techno in the back while Chronomancer is surrounded by Warriors at all times so no need for Prismatic Obfuscatron.
Troops and Transports
2x 10 Necron Warriors w/ Gauss Reapers
2x 20 Necron Warriors w/ Reapers&Flayers 10/10
2x Ghost Arks
1 Night Scythe
The Ghost Arks I think can be a great way to block off pathways in general, but can also soak up alot of damage from Mortal Wounds for the warriors both in and outside of them. One big block of warriors will be sheparded by the Chonkmancer while the other may be deepstruck in with the Nightscythe to any place to kill or nab some points. Plus the Night Scythe can help with Malevolent Arching pesky characters.
Elites
2x 10 Deathmarks
This one may be overkill, but I cannot stress enough how much I hate Exalted Sorcerers, Infernal Masters, Kahls and Ironmasters are from my experiences. Potentially a waste of points for Deathguard but I'm Weary about running C'tan agains Deathguard with their Plague casters and ESPECIALLY T.Sons. But I'm confident between Malevolent Arching, Talent for Annihilation and these guys I can throw plenty of Mortals where needed.
Fast Attack
2x Tomb Blades w/ 1 Tesla, Shadowloom and Shieldvanes
I needed some cheap action monkeys or Tesla spammers do I chose to bring these. I'm not expecting them to live long just score some points if possible and throw around Atching to hiding units.
Heavy Support
3x 2 Lokhust Destroyers w/ Heavy Destroyer (Gauss Destructor)
I wanted to run 3 Heavy Destroyers for anti tank but they get out of commission very quick in a 3 man but drop like flies when alone. I figured this is a good way to give them a wound cushion but also some decent medium strength firepower for general purpose.
Fortification
1 Convergance of Dominion
I just think it's neat. But it would also really help with screening my back line from TSons or Deathguard Terminators if need be. Plus with being able to deepstrike them and the extended range from Mephrit they could actually end up poking oretty hard when they actually get to shoot some stuff. Not to mention gaining Behind Enemy Lines if the enemy gives them space.

2023.06.07 03:45 Sharinganprincess91 [F4M] Fandom Roleplay. Looking for more partners. (Super freaking bored and really could use some more partners :/)

Side note: I've added a password, so read carefully. If you message me WITHOUT the password, your messages are automatically IGNORED. tired of getting hit up with people who don't read 😒. It's ridiculous cause I've ignored 5+ chats cause none of them contained the password. Things are written for a reason.
Facts about me:
Rules:
1: if you don't like 50/50 mixture of sex scenes and story, don't bother hopping into my inbox. I'm fine with sex scenes, but when it's constantly back to back, the roleplay itself gets boring.
2: Be literate. No one liners. I like to write..it's annoying when I send a 2-3 paragraph response and I get 3 lines...just...no. I am not accepting people who are just starting out! If you aren't experienced in writing or roleplaying, kindly stay out of my inbox.
3: Be okay with playing canon characters. I'm mainly doing fandom roleplays right now and it's going to be Canon x my oc. No, I'm not doing double ups. Do not even ask, because the answer will be no every time. I do not give a shit if you think that makes me 'lazy' or 'selfish', if you've got a problem, you can simply ignore or block me. Commenting on my post to bitch and whine about me not doubling up will only result in me blocking you. The ONLY time I'll double up, and if I'm confident enough, I'll only do female characters. I suck at males. Got a problem? Not my issue. Block and move on.
4: Roleplay in third person. I can't and won't adapt to first. Don't even bring up the idea of you playing first person and me playing third. Believe it or not, I've been asked this twice and that is just a hell no for me. The only time I do first, is when I'm writing into my book.
5: if you don't know how to share ideas, then don't bother messaging me. I'm tired of carrying the story when the other person doesn't help. If you've got ideas, then PLEASE speak up! Your opinion on the roleplay matters too! I'm an easy going person, and easy to get along with (dispite my rules).
6: DO NOT control my character. I control what she says, does, hears, sees, ect. I don't control yours, so don't control mine. HOWEVER, if it's highly necessary and needed, then run it by me first and ask me. Just leave me some wiggle room so I can make a decent response. Failure to comply by this rule, results in immediate drop of the rp.
End Note:
Yes, I've updated my rules just a tad. I do not care if it makes me sound mean or rude, because I'm neither of these things. I'm just tired of putting these rules down for a specific reason and they go ignored because I can tell when someone hasn't read them, and lied about it. I'm just trying to get my point across and roleplay. I'm a very easy going person who loves to make friends on the side (which I've somewhat given up on making friends...only a selective few have actually gained my friendship).
Do not hop into my inbox with a simple 'hey' 'hi' 'sup', etc and for God's sake, don't message me with a 'rp?'and proceed me to flash me with your talliwhacker. I promise you, you'll get your feelings hurt and I'll be here laughing at ya 😂. Nobody wants a peen on their screen. Do not send me an image of your one eyed noodle. Thank you. The password is pineapple.
Fandoms & Pairings
Deadpool (Wade x my oc)
The Adam's family
Pokemon ((MAYBE. Don't be nasty about it either!))
Bridgerton (or something like it. Can be Oc x Oc)
Disney Decedent's (or anything Disney) (oc x oc)
Orange is the new black (this can be oc x oc).
Criminal Minds (REALLY wanna do)
Marvel:
Loki x my oc
Spiderman (Tom Holland) x my oc
Dog The Bounty Hunter (REALLY wanna do):
Dog Chapman x my oc
The walking dead (REALLY wanna do!!):
Daryl X my oc
Batman x my oc
Lucifer (Netflix show series) x my oc (really wanna do)
The Originals: Klaus x my oc (PLEASE !! I REALLY wanna do this one!)
American Horror Story: Tate x my oc (REALLY wanna do)
Dragon Ball Z - Super (vegeta x my oc) (really wanna do)
Naruto: Minato x my oc
Harry Potter (thanks to the wonderful world of rp, the characters will be 18 or older. For me, I'd like it if it was Draco x my oc. REALLY wanna do)
Game Of Thrones (I'm still very early in the show, but I think we could think of something!)
Once Upon A Time:
killian x my oc, REALLY wanna do 🥺.
Avatar the last Airbender:
Zuko x my oc
Twilight:
Jacob x my oc
(Course, our version will be alot better than the movies).
If any of these interests you, message me!
End note part 2:
Congratulations! You've made it to the end. Still interested? You've got the password. Message me and let's get started 😁.

2023.06.07 03:45 dollsdontsleep This old dude in my town disappeared for 3 weeks, we think he was in the water

The waters have been in our town since the beginning of the Second Shift. Before it all, we were hardly considered a coastal city, but when the great glaciers began to thaw, waters rose across the globe. Thousands were displaced, communities had to rebuild and find ways to not only move on, but also cope with the loss of life, the change of times.
Our small town was drenched, with newcomers and bodies of water. A large coast formed to our west and north, (and weirdly enough, the water flowed out to more of the west, rather than inwards to our new coasts. The water always moved from west to west) creating a massive sprawl of beachland and inner rivers and lakes. Once a collection of high mesas, red rocks and dirt roads - streams and ponds of deep blue water filled into the cracks of Acoma.
Many turned to religion again, looking for signs in all these unnatural occurrences and phenomena that became our new truths. Priests and Imam came from across the highlands to see the massive lakes, to touch the water and bless it. Our mesas hadn’t seen any consistent water in centuries, and for a long time the droughts got worse year after year. It was unexplainable; some considered magic or prophecy. Though as time went on, the bad far outweighed the good. Especially when our neighbors began to disappear in the waters.
Well first there was old Zeeck Ferrell. This slim, big glasses type wise and somewhat cooky guy who would walk around the neighborhoods early in the mornings and would go on long geology explorations and camping trips. Somewhat an off-the-grid type, but all around just a loner at heart - no one bothered him and he didn’t like being around people much after his beloved wife passed some off 17 years prior.
Loved his dog Chewy - I mean, that’s actually how people found out he was missing. Place smelled like shit even from the outside, could hear the dude howling all night long from the end of the block and I guess some neighbors finally did some exploring. The dog ended up being fine, they released him into the wild or something after a few days of the big town search for old man Zeeck Ferrell, figured if the dog found him there would be lots of barks and howls.
Those same some neighbors headed the FIND OLD MAN ZEECK search parties, gathering anyone they could and creating 10, 20, 30 mile radiuses of searchin’. Called the local news and ran stories in the Acoma Daily and the next two towns over.
That went on for about 9 days before everyone finally gave up and packed those little orange reflective bags and flashlights deep in their closets in sorrow for a failed mission done bad. Donated all the snacks and “Welcome home!” decorations to a children’s foster place.
Nine more days passed, and little Eon who played outside on his bike just on the edge of the city on his parent’s long driveway and liked to ride his bike just a little outside of the lines but not so far but not so close to the strict boundaries his parents had set for him but was fast enough to go far without his parents noticing and still be back in time, saw something. It was approaching sunset, and from anywhere in the city during sunset you could see glistening water sparkling on the horizon line if you just looked west.
Little Eon saw a man, covered only with a waist length jacket tied around his upper hips walking slowly, softly, begrudgingly into town from the horizon. The water behind him, our sun creating a dark silhouette that blocked out any noticeable features a seven year old would need to confidently identify someone. Or at least that’s how Eon explained it the next day at school in so few words. Eon stood there, paralyzed in fear and awe for almost a whole minute before calling out in screams. His mother and father came running, hell, half the town came running. Eon crying, pointing his finger directly at the man’s head, the sun glistening behind that head, the crowd in front of that head’s eyes trying to distinguish from afar if it was really the man who they thought it couldn’t be.
There were gasps, screams, suddenly “It’s Zeeck! It’s Zeeck! It’s old man Zeeck! He’s alive!” began to bellow and holler from within the belly of the crowd. Bodies went flying down the road, and before anyone got to him, you could see Old man Zeeck’s figure drop to the ground. On his knees, he swirled in slow motion before hitting the concrete, the sunset catching him with little effort, his body paralleling the horizon line.
We got to him in what amounted to seconds but felt like hours. Zeeck lying there motionless, a corona of heads above his attending to his new wounds and exhausted body. I didn’t see much, but I did see his eyes. They rolled back and forth from the top of his head to the bottom of his tear duct, everything pink but the red veins and a black, distant eyeball. I was pushed to the back of the crowd, and Zeeck was lifted above all of our heads, scurried to the town emergency room. The rest of us stood there for a few moments, many dispersed after some more moments, but not me. I would’ve stood there all night, I never took my eyes off the horizon.

To be continued...

2023.06.07 03:45 ThatGamerGirlAkane So tomorrow might be my breaking point with my old job I’ve had for 3 years, might be looking for other places to work after my shift. . .

I’ve worked in the bakery for 3 years (including by myself when Covid hit after my coworker walked out for about 2 years) and we’re led by false promises that I’d get to do fun stuff like decorating cakes if I went full time. I being naive fell for it, and got trapped. Now with a control freak manager, a lazy coworker who’s gone for the week visiting family, and me suffering some kinda mental burn out, I think I’ve had enough but finding a way out when living with with people who won’t take your side (mostly my mom, dad at least supports me leaving for a different place if I’m not going to be taken seriously).
For some quick context that’s important for the incident: Saturday I had taken off months in advance for a family wedding, but once we knew it was in the afternoon and my workaholic manager (older lady, probably like 60s or so), begged me to come in and help until noon (normal end time on saturdays) because she had “too many orders” to do for lazy coworker to do on her own. I stupidly agreed, but reminded manager I had to be out by noon so as to not run late for the wedding. She agreed.
I came in that morning and worked like a good worker and let the produce manager (who was in charge of us that day) know I had to be out by noon so as to not be late for the wedding, I would not leave earlier than that, but couldn’t stay later (if I didn’t have the event going on I would’ve had no issues staying after). He stated that I wasn’t allowed to leave until everything was done regardless of time, and when I tried to protest, I was shut down. Miracle of all miracles, we got done a bit early. Went to the wedding and had a good time.
Cut to today. I called in sick this early morning because I was sure I had a stomach bug since late Sunday night (I figured maybe it was from the rich food), my first bathroom trip when I did a number 2 was just pure water and reared really bad on top of stomach pains. By yesterday it was still hanging on, so I didn’t eat much of anything but had a lot of water.
This morning I was supposed to work, but the stomach cramps were still around and I legit thought I was going to mess myself three times before my alarm for work went off. When it went off later, I said screw it and called in and told her as much. My manager pitched a fit whining that she was going to be by herself and how I better be in tomorrow when I said I didn’t know if I’d be feeling better by then.
I unfortunately do feel better now, so I’ll have to work the rest of the week while coworker’s gone visiting family, despite this being the second time she’s done this within two months. I hardly take days off save for family events, sick days are even rarer for me to take. I just find it so frustrating and I know it’s going to be brought up when I go in. I doubt the store manger will say anything if I talk to him about it (not the first time this has happened and I was forced to just give in and just let it go.)
I guess I just need a safe place to rant, and maybe advice to what to do/say if it does get brought up

2023.06.07 03:45 AshtonLVII Why aren't Non-Africans Allowed to wear Braids that African people wear?

I'm a black man, and my girlfriend is Polynesian. Despite her Polynesian background, she looks phenotypically similar to someone of mixed black heritage, like Zendaya. Her hair is also naturally very curly, similar to this
Recently, she decided to put box braids in her hair. Traditionally, box braids are associated with black culture and are commonly worn by black people. She shared a picture of her new hairstyle on Facebook, which led to some comments from black women stating that non-black women shouldn't wear box braids because it wasn't intended for their hair type, considering it cultural appropriation.
Black women often wear hair of other races. So I'm confused on what's the problem here.

HOW DOES PHYTOTURK WORK?
PhytoTurk builds muscle through a totally different mechanism than traditional anabolics that bind to the androgen receptor. PhyoTurk acts as a potent receptor β agonist, providing a compounding level of anabolic activity via a totally different mechanism than normal anabolics.
This makes PhytoTurk an ideal compound to stack with other anabolics during a blast but can also be used in a post cycle therapy as it will not suppress natural testosterone production at all. Furthermore, naturals could introduce PhytoTurk into their regimens without the consequence of traditional stero*d.

PhytoTurk (Turkesterone) is a naturally occurring phytoecdysteroid found in the Ajuga turkestanica plant. It is an analogue of the stero*d hormone 20-hydroxyecdysone. PhyoTurk is WADA compliant and safe to use by both males and females. PhytoTurk does not cause liver strain and side effects like hair loss or gynecomastia are impossible.

2023.06.07 03:43 Expensive-Two-8128 My mind cannot be changed: There has never been a better, more worthy leader to trust COMPLETELY with BILLIONS (and soon-to-be TRILLIONS) of our hard-earned money — Entrepreneur.com Article by Ryan Cohen, May 4, 2020

A note before RC’s article below: If you are ever fearful, uncertain, and/or doubtful about GameStop’s ability to overcome the parasitic criminal shorts, JUST REMEMBER: THIS is the man we’ve entrusted with BILLIONS of dollars. Read it, read it again, and then watch the FUD completely evaporate

By Ryan Cohen May 4, 2020
Everything I know — from empathy to the principles of making money — I learned by following in the footsteps of my late father, Ted Cohen. We spoke for hours every day. He was, and always will be, my best friend, advisor and biggest advocate. A successful glassware importer with an impeccable work ethic, my father never missed a day on the job. If he were here today, he’d be worried about the millions of unemployed and struggling businesses across the country. The warehouse workers, drivers, construction workers and small-business owners — those are the people he respected most. Looking back on his life and influence, the following five principles he showed me were critical to my success building Chewy.com and investing.
Watch your expenses
Disciplined capital allocation is one of the most important skills for running a successful business. Thanks to my father, I had the privilege of learning this firsthand. He kept track of every expense —his power bills, daily gasoline prices that impacted transportation costs, the individual prices of hundreds of glassware products that he sold. My father also kept tabs on Chewy’s metrics. He memorized the key performance indicators in both of our businesses.
At Chewy, we had maniacal discipline when it came to how we spent money. The company-wide culture of frugality came from his example. Free cash flow was our unwavering governor of growth. We grew Chewy from $200 million in sales in 2013 to $3.5 billion in 2018 while spending only $130 million in capital, all of which went into opening distribution centers across the country and acquiring new customers.
Delight your customers
My father always repeated this quote from his own father: “If you take a carload of this (pointing to a pallet of glassware) you’ll make more money. But if you take a carload of that (pointing to a different pallet), you’ll make less money, but you’ll keep the customer. So, take a carload of that.”
When we started Chewy in 2011, selling pet food online wasn’t a novel idea. The field was crowded with competitors, including Amazon. But our mission was to delight customers in a more personal way. We believed combining the experience of the neighborhood pet store with the convenience of shopping online was a key differentiator. The focus was fast shipping, competitive pricing and providing customers with a hyper-specialized experience. My father showed me how building lifelong relationships with customers was far more valuable than optimizing for short-term profits.
Be the person others want to follow
My father led by example, but not in a deliberate way. It’s who he was. He never patronized anyone. He admired the blue-collar worker. I watched him roll up his sleeves and help his employees move shipments of glassware from trucks into the warehouse, then put his suit jacket back on, shirt drenched in sweat, and do administrative work. I’ve never seen anyone work harder.
I was fortunate to find employees at Chewy who worked relentlessly to grow the company from a three-person operation to a household brand with more than 10,000 employees. We didn’t disrupt the pet industry by accident. Our team made huge sacrifices. We opened our first fulfillment center in early 2014, and everything from the warehouse management system to the Wi-Fi would constantly break down. The team worked 16-hour days for weeks until our supply chain was humming. Everyone from the fulfillment staff to the directors and executives were committed to Chewy’s success. You don’t get that level of dedication by leading through fear. My father always said, “You catch more bees with honey than with vinegar.”
Take the long view
My father was never looking to make a quick buck. He had no interest in material possessions. Every year, through thick and thin, he invested his savings into the stock market. He believed the real money was made through time in the market, not timing the market. When I was 13, he gave me a chart comparing real estate to stock market returns since the 1920s. Real estate annualized returns were around 4 percent, and the stock market was around 9 percent. It didn’t take long for me to figure out which I preferred. I’ve been investing ever since. My father never invested in any fancy funds or paid management fees. He bought blue chip companies and held them forever. His 20-year annualized stock returns were over 10 percent. He never borrowed money or paid interest.
As we scaled Chewy, many advised us to slow down and raise prices. We disagreed. Key to our success was obsessing over customers and market leadership. Over the long term, customers and profits intersect.
Trust yourself
Entrepreneurs don’t operate with a handbook. My father taught me how to be independent and trust my own moral compass. He encouraged me to separate myself from the herd and think critically. When I told him I had no desire to go to college, he shrugged. Whether he agreed with my decisions or not, he supported me unconditionally. Letting me make my own decisions sowed the seeds for me to become an entrepreneur. The confidence to never compromise my vision of building Chewy into the largest pet retailer came from knowing if I failed, he would always love me.
For 45 years, he was the first employee to open his office and last one to leave. He showed me how perseverance and discipline ultimately pay off. Not only was his work ethic unmatched, so was his commitment to family. He gave me unconditional love and showed me how to be a father. Above all, he taught me that the best decisions come from heart, instincts and empathy.
Dad, I will forever be grateful.
Ryan Cohen is the founder and former CEO of Chewy.com, a company he started when he was 25 years old. In 2017, Cohen made history when he sold Chewy to PetSmart for $3.35 billion in the largest ecommerce deal in history. In 2019, Chewy went public at a valuation of $8.7 billion.

2023.06.07 03:43 ThrowRAHelpneeded77 My (27M) girlfriend (29F) asked for very unclear break from relationship / time off - confused at situation

Hello relationship_advice community. As I read through the posts here, they were immensely helpful but wanted to see if I can get a more personal feedback.
I've met my girlfriend (unsure if she is ex or not as it is in the limbo state) and have been dating for ~6 months.
Around 2 weeks ago, out of nowhere (at least that's why it felt), during the night out at a bar, she said she didn't feel the love for me anymore and said she wants to take time to think about herself. That date was obviously very awkward and I thought she was going to say something about the date, but didn't expect this to hit. She also didn't seem like she was going to spill it at that exact moment (although now I know she probably was thinking about it for awhile). She said she liked my looks, who I am inside and even the intimate / romantic aspect was great. But she said it seemed too perfect and she lost interest. I was stunned and told her that I felt like I accommodated everything for her without really expressing how I felt out of insecurity because I never liked someone this much. I was not myself and was being the "beta" man and she likely lost attraction from me for not being a man. Or i don't know maybe there was something else but that's what I think after thinking through about this. Because it was so sudden we didn't really get a chance to talk, set guidelines on what this "taking a break is" and we went to each other's home. The morning that this happened, we woke up together, cuddled, watched TV and went out for a walk and seemed fine. But the dinner and date after seemed off and awkward though but didn't expect this. She did clarify when we were saying goodbye that this didn't mean it's over and she needed to think.
The next day, reality hit me and I was in serious grief. I texted her the next morning asking her if we can get a chance to talk in person before she makes decision because everything was so sudden I couldn't relay my feelings. She didn't respond. The next day, reached out again but let her know that if she didn't want to talk, I will write her a note on how I feel to not have regrets. She responded that all these messages (i've sent two asking for time to talk, not answer....) are not helping and is making her anxious and unable to breathe. And as of that moment, the answer is a no and with time it may change but she is not sure. She also said that if I was hurting too much i should move on because she doesn't want to hurt me. I responded saying i'm sorry, i care about her and that i will give her space and time. I did not write up a note and send her because i got that she really needed space to her own.
Right after then, I started to not talk to her and give her space. We still followed each other on snapchat and IG and we still looked at them. At first it was hard, but i started to think that this is out of my control, and I really cared for her so wanted to give her what she wanted. I just focused on myself. Going to gym, spending time with friends, working harder professionally.
She seemed like she was seeing friends trying to clear her head and that was fine. I did the same thing. But one day, she made posts on concerts and movies we went together few weeks ago, and I know we had an amazing time there. Maybe she was thinking about me and wanted me to see them? Of course tried to not read too much into it but as a human being, felt kind of hopeful.
Few days later, I had a ticket to a rock concert that she wanted to go which we were planning to go together. I went with my friend and posted pictures of me at the show and the show itself, and she liked those stories. I was bit confused because I thought she wanted time and space. Next day, she also liked my story on going hiking with my friends. I also looked through her snapchat stories and she looked like she was going through a lot of pain, perhaps missing me, posting songs about losing loved one and feeling down, etc. I never posted things to show I was hurt and was focusing on having a good time with friends, going to gym, going for a walk/hike, etc.
Honestly, I felt like she was going through what I was going through in the beginning, thinking about good memories and missing and being worried about loosing someone. But the next day, she started to post stories and posts on very vague things that maybe suggested she is trying to move on. Things like although it hurts I'm focusing on myself. I'm bit worried that she may be trying to move on, or maybe she is just posting those things to feel better, or to show me she is doing better just as I've showed that I was doing better. Obviously I want her to be confident and know her self worth, I care for her, but i feel bit worried that if I take too long, she will move on.
The thing is, I saw the things like "no contact rule" which I logically agree, but I'm not someone who is going to go through that in length. I don't like playing mind games in she will come back in months or maybe year if you truly work on yourself and she sees that she lost you. I get it, but I would rather talk to her and if its over, accept its over and give her the best of luck because I care about her. If she wants to try things again, that's amazing and I'd love that. Also we didn't actually break up. Maybe it was on her side telling me to break up, but I don't think it is as she said it wasn't on that day. Also, I really love her and want to try things again but be more myself this time. We never had any major problems and she agrees. She just lost attraction because I was being too nice, naive and trying to be perfect on paper and that felt fake (and this is true, that wasn't me and even I didn't feel comfortable doing that). I want to do this again and be myself and if it doesn't work out, it is what it is and I can accept that.
I do think the ideal way is to give her bit more time (it's been around 2 weeks now) for her to reach out, not because of "no contact power move she should miss you as much as you do" but because I feel that it is respectful that she comes back after having her time especially after she initiating the "taking break phase". Of course I want her to come back with open heart but even if it is not, I just have to swallow it as I know relationship is not a one way street. But don't get me wrong, I am going through a lot of emotions and it has been hard, but just think this needs to get to some kind of answer soon. I really don't want to do, just move on and ghost away without talking about how we feel or at least felt and saying goodbye and good luck if we need to.
I'm confused on:
- How much longer do I wait? Should I tell her that I've had time to think and wanted to see how much more time she needs? I know best answer is "until she needs and until you can take it" but this has been hard, especially after her social media posts and interactions. I am willing to give her more time if she needs, but after certain point, I will tell her that I need to move on.
- What's in her mind seeing all of my stories and liking stories of me going to concert we were supposed to go together and at the same time posting heartbroken songs and clips? Did she want to reach out but just was too embarrassed or shy to do so after initiating the break and was hinting that I reached out?
Any or all advice / thoughts would be greatly appreciated even if not directly related to two questions above. I love this person and wants to do what is right and do my best to get her back, but also realize that if needed, we need to end things in the right way and move on. That is best thing for me and her who I really love.

Thank you all. Have a wonderful day.

P.S. I also have my stuff in her house and her stuff in my house which i assume we need to exchange at some point...

TLDR: Ex asked for a time to think / take a break, without set guidelines and we didn't get a chance to talk about it. I gave her space but now am confused about her reactions and what the best thing to do.
