If you were brought up as a JW, it is likely that you have been conditioned to associate various emotions to every aspect of the entire body of information called 'the truth'. It can be very difficult to separate the necessary from narrative during recovery post your life as a witness. Why is this so important to get right? For lots of reasons, many of which are unique to your personal circumstances, but here is a biblical rationale that works for me, since I don't want to give up on faith just yet. Its biblical in the sense that Jesus used the illustration of a house built on a foundation of sand vs rock. This is a basic life principal we all know: when I don't do the prep work, I cant succeed longterm. JW 's face a problem: they have to bridge a 2000 year gap from the first century to our modern day and place or position their belief system in the context of our time. They have to make their belief relevant to the common man and the average Joe otherwise they are just another denomination trying to make sense of this thing called human existence. I realised that I could debunk JW modern day relevance easily if I stuck to the nuts and bolts of the belief and looked beyond all the emotional reactions that I had learned to associate to every titbit of info, every 'new thought', every 'incredible illustration' heard at an assembly, every 'wow, what a lovely thought, isn't he a good speaker!', every 'man, what an article in the latest WT!' ...type knee jerk reactions I had been led to believe were so appropriate to display as a Witness. I realised the danger while recovering could be to chase the same type of emotional reactions to learning the things that prove TTATT. Meaning, i need a 'wow' factor, a 'fix', to impress me all the time and convince me I'm on the right path away from these nutters. So i looked for the pillars of the truth, those beliefs that, if you knock them out, the whole 'body of JW truth' comes tumbling down. Like columns and supporting walls holding up a house. Take one out and things get shakey. The slightest weather change will topple it over. Take two out, and its game over. I then wouldn't need endless discussion over matters of doctrine and continuous convincing. I could let the whole thing rest and find my peace with it. I don't want to be sitting here in five years time still angry and bitter, in despair and confused. The single belief column that holds the entire modern day JW narrative together is the date for Jerusalems destruction. Like giant cosmic lily pads across time, that starting date of 607BC allows JW's to leapfrog through a maze of events with Daniels prophecy to 1914 and a baby hop from there using another conjured prophecy to 1919 allows them to establish an authority of a few men in America (all white mind you) in our modern day. Take away 607, equals removing 1914, equals removing 1919, equals no appointment of gb, equals all the rumours about Rutherford are true, equals the NWT has been tampered with, equals 1975 was all about getting the numbers up, equals etc. etc. .... and equals...I can choose to believe otherwise. The historical and archaeological nuts and bolts of Jerusalem being destroyed in 587 is enough to separate fact from fiction. Debunking just one belief is enough to reclaim myself and place my freedom to choose with me, where it belongs and where it always has been. I don't need endless convincing. I don't need to be angry. I don't need propping up. I don't need to lash out at other exJw's who have a different take to mine. I can take rejection. I can endure the shunning. I can laugh at the weird bits. I can forgive others. Ican walk my truth. I can be whole. All this, simply because I have learned/ am learning to separate emotion from reality. I stick to facts. I find out. I listen, learn and obey... my inner voice.

Does anybody know the best way to transfer all of my photos from Google (about 2000) to OneDrive with chronological order? I've been trying the past two days and either some don't transfer or they transfer at a random order which is useless for me.

So I scrapd my knee on some rusted aluminium sheet, it wasnt too bad, but the wound did draw some blood. After cleaning up and putting some ointment, I went to office. There is this big hospital near my office. It is a posh chain of hospitals and head quartered in Karnataka. I wont name them.
I show the wound to the nurse and tell her I need a tetanus injection. I am told I need a prescription and for that I have to make a hospital book and pay about Rs 500, besides waiting in queue to see the doc. So I came back to office and on my way home, I went to St Philomena's Hospital.
They had a duty doctor who immediately told the nurse to give me the injection without any payment reciept. After the shot I was told to go to the next room which was the cash counter and pay the large bank breaking sum of Rs 80/-. I came back to show them the receipt and they just glanced at it and told me to keep the would clean. They did offer to dress it, but I waived it off. Guess who was concerned about me and my well being and who was not. No prizes for guessing. End of the tale of two hospitals.

Hey, so the last time I posted this story, I received tons of feedback, the vast majority being very, very destructive. I implemented most of it and double-down on some elements, resulting in what I think is a much more cohesive, strong narrative with, hopefully, a distinct narrating voice, clear symbolism, and prose that strives to be both poetic and immersive. I'm really looking forward to seeing how people inevitably completely destroy this story again lol:

Title is supposed to read “How do I make my adopted dog happy”
I have an 8 year old “American bulldog mix” according to the shelter I adopted him from. He is the first dog I’ve ever had. I adopted him at 1 year old because I had always wanted a dog. He had already been there a month or two before I adopted him.
I know we all like to think so, but he really is the goodest boy. He is super sweet to every single human he meets. He’s an 80lb lap dog.
The issue is however that I think he has more energy than I can keep up with. Even at 8, at his last vet checkup even the doc commented that he is as playful as a puppy. I have tried taking him to the dog park but he is aggressively friendly, he just sniffs other dogs all over until they get annoyed by him. The only time I’ve ever seen him play with another dog was with a pit bull puppy who could actually match his energy. When I have gone on vacation and taken him to doggy daycare they all say the same thing, he doesn’t really engage with other dogs - he just sits and sniffs at the gate waiting for it to be opened. The last time I went on vacation I left him with a friend instead and he seemed to have a blast playing with her 5 year old daughter so I guess he prefers the company of humans as opposed to other dogs.
The main issue is that when he isn’t sleeping, he is restless. He’s always pacing and telling me he wants to go outside even if he just went (and pooped and peed) an hour ago. If he does finally sit down next to me he will pant endlessly and idk how to alleviate him. There is a video in my posts of him doing so.
He doesn’t enjoy playing with toys or bones. I have and continue to waste a ton of money hoping to find the right one he might like with no luck.
He seems to be happiest when he has a large area to run around in but I don’t have a yard and even when I take him to my parent’s house where there is one he only runs around for a few minutes before he gets bored. Then back at home he acts the same all over again. How many times a day am I expected to drive him to my parents house or a dog park?
I really don’t know what to do. I realize now that maybe I took too much on being that he’s my first dog and he’s so hyper but it’s 7 years later so the damage is done. He was at the shelter for so long before I adopted him that I have to remind myself that I saved him from certain death to make myself feel better because I really think he resents me.
I should add that he isn’t very well trained, if the door is left open he will absolutely bolt. He is house trained and sits on command though. I also have two cats both adopted after him. When I adopted the first one I basically had to train him not to eat the cat. Now, the cats love him and will try to cuddle him but he won’t have it. He’ll get up and move to the other side of the room. His behavior has not changed since adding cats.
This dog is giving me anxiety. Someone please just tell me how do I make him happy 😭

Prompt: Redesign the Progress Pride flag using only four colours

Since 1970, the month of June has been celebrated by many in the LGBTQ+ community around the world as Pride Month. This is why you might see a lot more rainbow flags, and other colourful festive paraphernalia around at this time.
Pride Month is a celebration that both honours the movement fighting for LGBT rights / protections / representation around the world, and celebrates LGBTQ+ culture more generally.
This movement has had many different flags over the course of its history, and in 2018 it received another. The Progress Pride flag was developed by non-binary American artist and designer Daniel Quasar (who uses xe/xyr pronouns). You can read the full story of its design, development, and symbolism here.
Other updates to this design have continued, with 2021 seeing another. Valentino Vecchietti, of Intersex Equality Rights UK produced the Pride Progress flag. It’s design was updated to be inclusive the intersex community.
Among the many elements included within the symbology of the progress pride (including the black stripe representing “those living with AIDS and the stigma and prejudice surrounding them, and those who have been lost to the disease”), possibly the most important is the use of the arrow motif to represent the need for progress. To quote Daniel Quasar “The arrow points to the right to show forward movement […] and illustrates that progress [towards inclusivity] still needs to be made”
In June 2023, the vexillology design contest challenge is to design a new flag. One that represents the same central elements, concerns, and causes of the progress pride flag, but using only FOUR colours at maximum.
The four colours can be any four you want, but it can be no more than four (it can be less!). You can use any shape of flag, any symbols/designs/arrangement/patterns/details/iconography you want. But there can only be a maximum of four different colours.
When explaining your flag, make sure you make it clear how and why the symbols you choose represent that which the current progress pride flag embodies.
The goal of this contest is to create new and varied ways to represent the LGBTQ+ community and the associated progress that needs to make. The four colour design restriction is here to create the necessity that is so often the mother of innovation.
