I've beaten Cuphead and Sans, but I've been struggling so much on the Bendy Nightmare song even though I would always be so close to beating it. Even when I try to change up my keybinds to make attacking a little easier it's never enough.
Anybody got any tips or can share their experience on how they managed to best the Ink Demon?

2023.05.29 22:36 Gullible_Goose I want your thoughts: Should IndyCar enforce a pit entry commitment line rule for the Indy 500 in the future?

I know I'm not the only one who noticed that in recent years, drivers have gotten a lot more comfortable running close to the pit wall while defending. It's pretty spectacular to look at, but it's getting to the point where it's getting a little egregious. We've luckily not seen a crash happen there yet, but we only need to think back to a couple years ago with Spencer Pigot to know how ugly a pit wall attenuator crash can get. That's not even mentioning what could happen with a busy pitlane....
So I'd like your thoughts: Would you support IndyCar implementing a rule that bans crossing the pit entry line? If you cross that line without pitting, you get a drive thru or a fine or something like that. If not, why, and do you think this kind of racing should be discouraged or encouraged? I'd love to hear.

Introduction

This trip through the mountains is certainly quite a hike! Luckily Motherhorn is just over the distance, and from there - Arctis Tor, the Winter Palace. Hopefully you've packed your costume jewelry and memorized your lines, because today we'll be taking a tour through Endelyn's amphitheater of horrors.

The Path to Motherhorn

When the players exit the Brigganock mine they will be back outside in the Shimmerstorm Mountains - now not far from Motherhorn. This is a good time to read the description from the book, though hold the staircase and balloon pieces for now until the party actually reaches it later. This will position Motherhorn as the way in to the palace.
Looming in the distance is an ominous gray citadel hewn out of the mountaintop. The path leading to it is winding and precipitous. Wind swirls around its towers, and ravens cluster and caw in its granite nooks. A crooked finger of lightning strikes a metal rod protruding from the topmost spire, and the sound of applause drifts over the citadel’s battlements.
Awakened Giant Goats
While Motherhorn is just over the ridge it's about an hour's trek still. On this path is the perfect time for some furry friends to make their appearance. You can play out this event as written in the book though I have an alternative description to set-up the scene below.
As you make your way up the cold, snowy mountain trail, you suddenly sense that you are being watched. You turn to see three giant goats standing a few yards away, their silvery-gray fur ruffled by the mountain wind. Their wizened faces are fixed on you, their golden, hourglass-shaped pupils observing you closely.
Lightning Rods
The path to the amphitheater is also a good time for the party to pass by some of the lightning rods of Yon.
In the distance you see a towering structure glimmer in the dark as it's struck by a bolt of lightning and then seemingly absorbs its energies. The tower stands 30 feet high and is topped with a 10-foot-diameter crescent moon made of gleaming copper. You wonder what kind of electricity this rod must harness in order to function given the storms that rage through these mountains.
If a player chooses to climb one of the rods I feel as if it's more fun to ask for a check. Some options include: - DC 14 Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check (your choice) to climb - DC 14 Wisdom saving throw as a thunder cracks overhead to not lose balance
If your players have a Lightning-Catching Bottle they can use the rod to fill the bottle in the same manner that they could charge their weapons.

Motherhorn

When the players arrive read the following and the balloon description from the book. If the party defeated Charm in The Fields of Spring then the balloon will not be here and you can skip that portion.
The mountain path ends at a spiral staircase that climbs sixty feet to a balcony made of weathered gray stone. You have reached Motherhorn.
As described, if Gleam is with the characters, she will warn them of Endelyn. As mentioned last time as well, I highly recommend taking the party through the play though of course this depends on your table!
In this section I will only call out changes (otherwise run the book as is). Unlike the book, if Bavlorna or Skabatha fled they did not escape here. One general change I would recommend is to replace about half of the darklings in Motherhorn to use the greater darkling stat block from Part XI.
A Tragedy in the Making

I'm going to cover the play at the outset as having this info will help inform how you run Motherhorn (and also might mean a bit of a railroad at the beginning for your players if you move them right into the play). As mentioned before, the play is a ton of fun so definitely would suggest pushing your players this way if you think they'd be open to it.
As per the book the party will be expected to put on a play if they want to have an audience with Endelyn in area M18. No invitations or fliers should be needed here. Unlike the book though, Endelyn doesn't have their Lost Things, but does have a way to get them to Arctis Tor, The Winter Palace, which is where their Lost Things are.
Also like the book, if the characters decline to perform a play for her, Endelyn demands that they leave at once, ordering her darklings to attack characters who refuse to do so.
Preparing for the Play
The party should meet with Stagefright as written to get prepared for the play, but after the initial introduction we will be adjusting things significantly. In terms of how to run the play though there are a lot of options. I've laid out my own suggestion below (with inspiration from the outline by u/DearEdison) , but some others to consider are:
Ready? Let's break a leg!
No Love Lost, The Tragic Love Affair of Iggwilv and Graz'zt
For my take on the play, the characters will be running a script called No Love Lost, The Tragic Love Affair of Iggwilv and Graz'zt, which is intended to better tie into the overall story. You may remember Graz'zt from Nib's Cave in Part XIII, and of course Iggwilv needs no introduction.
After the intro with Stagefright it's time to assign players their roles - either through rolling or choice, but there should be no doubles. As I had 5 players there are 6 roles (one for each of them and one for Charmay) - feel free to adjust depending on your number of players. Charmay also doesn't need to participate though.
d6 Performer Roles
1 Zagig Yragerne, an archmage and Iggwilv's first master.
2 Iggwilv, a powerful raven-haired archmage from Oerth Note: Iggwilv is, of course, another name for Tasha the Witch Queen - a fact that is not known by anyone in Motherhorn so do not reveal this
3 Graz'zt, a powerful demon lord sometimes known as the The Dark Prince or Prince of Pleasure for his… erotic tastes
4 Raxivort, a Xvart and Graz'zt's treasurer
5 Tenser The Blue Archmage, a member of the Circle of Eight
6 Mordenkainen the Mage, one of the most powerful wizards that has ever lived and founder of the Circle of Eight
Once role selection is done, Stagefright should guide the players to M4a to choose their costumes, props, and/or request reasonable ones, and then M11 to meet with Charmay. If Charmay will have a role, Stagefright will explain as much. Otherwise she will just handle the play intro and outro. Before departing he will give the characters 30 minutes until curtains up (this feels better than 10 minutes so they have a chance to talk with Charmay, though I recommend a 5 minute warning).

Our version of the play covers the rough and tumble relationship between Iggwilv and Graz'zt
Performing the Play
Once time is up, Stagefright will return to bring the players to the stage and inquire if their troupe has a name, while Endelyn, the darklings, and the goblins watch. I had the play take place on the Grand Opera House map (Romeo Juliet version) by Czepuku, but anything will work.
Charmay will open the play with a monologue to set the scene, and then it will operate as follows:
Many bards consider it the greatest love story the multiverse has ever known, for it reveals the unsettling foundations of desire. It speaks to the dark origins of love and our desire to possess that which is beyond possession. As we relate to you the tale of Iggwilv and Graz’zt, let your mind wander. Reflect on the love that possesses you and ponder what your future holds.
I present to you "No Love Lost - The Tragic Love Affair of Iggwilv and Graz'zt" by the [insert troupe name given to Stagefright].
  • The characters should act one at a time, as if in initiative order (but instead use the order from the Roles table above). If a role has no lines for a specific round they simply wait in the wings
    • At the beginning of each "round", change the backdrop scene on stage as per the table below. The play takes place over 6 rounds
  • On each player's turn:
    • Stagefright feeds the player a line they must use (see the lines below), and then they can add any additional lines or flavor they'd like
      • If online you can use Roll20 macro to make this easier
    • As with a normal turn a player can use an action, bonus action, etc. but don't have to
      • Dialogue is considered a free action
      • Common actions will likely be a performance check, skill check, etc.
      • As per the book, characters can freely move around the stage, use props, and enter and exit scenes as they wish
    • Other players can join in but can't interrupt lines
    • Scoring: As Endelyn watches she will be mentally scoring them for their performance
      • Positive point for a character using their line correctly
      • Positive point for a successful check or use of a spell/ability to enhance their performance
      • Negative point for loitering (make liberal use of the fool's scepter!)
      • Negative point for interruptions
      • Negative point for flubbing their line or not using it
  • Once all the lines are complete, Charmay will give a final outro as well: "In the end Graz’zt and Iggwilv had come to understand that they loved nothing more than hating each other, and they hated nothing more than loving each other"
  • At the end the actors should gather for a bow
    • Tally the points. As long as the group has more positive points then negative then the play will be followed by cheers, and as per book the party will be invited to M18 for negotiations with Endelyn

M2. Amphitheater
Rather than roll on the tragedies table I would select #7. This directly ties into the notes we left at Loomlurch where Tasha has tricked Endelyn into believing Bavlorna is plotting against her.
M7. Oracular Library
In the black book you need to remove the portion of text below as no such treachery has taken place in the reimagining and it's also a bit too on the nose on revealing Zybilna's identity.
The sweet treachery we three have wrought— Would Iggwilv help us? Ha! I think not.
M11. Stage Workshop
Two immediate changes to make in the workshop are that there is no unicorn horn here as usual, and Golmo is also not here (he is instead imprisoned in Arctis Tor for your reference).
We will also be changing almost everything that Skylla shares with the characters (though the description itself of her and her background is all still accurate). In particular we're removing all of the mentions of Iggwilv (a bit too early for the big reveal!), and of course the piece about the cauldron is not true in the reimagining.
She will boastfully share the following information:
  • After the carnival the group of them - Kelek, Mell, Zarak, Zargash, and herself were transported to the Feywild. They've been here for about 20 years, though some - like Kelek, their leader, have had some aftereffects and aged more rapidly (not to mention time is strange in the Feywild). To survive they took on odd jobs and eventually became full on mercenaries for hire and renamed themselves The League of Malevolence after their old name at school
  • While they've worked together for their mutual benefit, they're each rather selfish and often pursue their own interests
  • The League was most recently employed by Zybilna, a powerful sorceress and advisor to Queen Mab. She tasked them with hunting down Valor’s Call, some sort of adventuring party, whom they defeated about a month back but the group ran away by some sort of teleportation magic.
  • While the rest of the league is still in Zybilna's employ hunting down the escaped members of Valor's Call, she decided to stay in Yon and take up her passion - acting!

M13. Worker Cells
If the party freed Harry from the Green Keep he is here to rescue his sister Kizz, who traveled to Yon before the barrier came up.
M16. Darkling Balloon Dock
This room will be empty and no balloon present if the players killed Charm, Trinket, and Bauble in the Fields of Spring. You may choose to have different darklings here though if you want to offer their wares still.
If they are here, the darklings will know all of the knowledge from the Wayward Pool article (Part XI). If the party is still on friendly terms with Charm then the darklings will still offer their wares for sales (see the Traveling Wagons in Vale Crossing for details - Part X).
If the party knew of Charm's plot to kill Lamorna and did nothing to stop it you may potentially want to have Charm be in possession of Lamorna's horn, with a plan to give it to Endelyn (who would like it as a present for Queen Mab).
M17. Prison
When speaking with Glister, make the following changes:
  • When referring to the belfry, she instead references it as the fastest way to the Winter Palace (as opposed to the Palace of Heart's Desire)
  • Ignore the portion about the Fey Beacons. To make things simple, the sisters just need to escape and then they can track down the carnival on their own.
  • When discussing plans, an alternative option can be raised. It is known that Endelyn grants audiences with performers she likes. The party may be able to convince her to let Glister go in such a circumstance
M18. Audience Chamber
When the party is granted an audience with Endelyn (such as after performing a play), we will make some adjustments to the exchange.
  • When bargaining, the key thing Endelyn has to offer is an invitation for the party to a ball happening at the Winter Palace, as well as transportation there using the cranes in the belfry. While Motherhorn and the palace are technically connected - there is no direct passageway between them.
    • As per the book she will accept shadows or gloam in exchange (though there's no way to get back to Downfall so the party will have needed to have snatched Gloam already)
    • Other options to potentially include: Ridding her of Charmay or the play performance being enough on its own if it was impressive
    • If Endelyn is defeated in battle, she will also offer to provide the party invitations and travel to the palace in exchange for her life
      • If it does come down to that, I highly recommend the alternative stat block developed by Phaerlax. She would also never fight alone if she can help it and would ensure she has shadows and/or darklings to aid her
      • If she's defeated she will flee like in the book, but not to the palace
  • If the party's performance at the play was at least somewhat good, she will also likely offer for them to stay in Motherhorn as long as they like - especially if they will continue to perform for her
  • If the party has their fates told (highly recommend!), then add the following tidbit below after the description in the book. This is a great opportunity for you to foreshadow any plot lines you might have going on for individual party members in your group and then you can throw the "unhappy ending" ones in as humorous potential alternative futures if you want. I'll include some below as examples.
The hag cackles gleefully as she begins to chant, gusts of wind raging fiercely around her. The scent of brimstone and burning herbs fills the air, mixing with the sound of thunder that rolls overhead. Her eyes fix themselves on you as a strike of lightning illuminates her grotesque form and the puppets move.
"I see many paths…both past and present."
Fates
The following are general ones that will apply given upcoming events so feel free to use them! More details to come in the articles on the Winter Palace.
  • I see a murder laid at your feet (A reference to the future murder of Lord Albert Frostwood of the Winter Court)
  • I see a dire threat looming over the Winter Court (A reference to Zybilna's plot against the court)
  • I see a wizard lost in time who can give you answers (A reference to Luca Oxley)
And these are just some examples from my group that likely don't apply to yours - just as inspiration:
  • I see a man in black armor - as long as you are near him your life is in danger
  • I see illness in your past - those closest to you consumed by malady
  • I see a boy and a bear, cold and lonely. To rescue him you must face giants
  • I see an arrow that struck true, a broken man bent on revenge
  • I see a difficult choice - between a mask and many eyes
  • I see you swimming in a court of stars, I see a vortex of wind behind a pair of crossed scimitars
An invitation to the ball at the Winter's Palace is exactly what the party needs to continue their quest for their Lost Things

As a result of Tasha's machinations - Endelyn is still of the belief that Bavlorna is plotting against her, not realizing Tasha has played the same trick on every sister.
Lord Kelek,
I have written a new play titled The Cassalanter Catastrophe. It’s a tragic tale inspired by real-life misfortune that I think you might enjoy. You and the other members of the League of Malevolence are invited to Motherhorn to watch a live performance. Your colleague, Skylla, has been my guest for some time, but I’m afraid she has worn out her welcome. In exchange for my generosity, I’m hoping you can take her off my hands.
Until our next meeting, Endelyn
Endelyn has tired of Skylla but can't kill her or otherwise get rid of her like her other actors given Skylla's strength and not wanting to anger the Winter Court in any way. While I removed Alagarthas I think it's fine to keep the title or perhaps even change it to something relevant to a player of yours (as I did above)?
Bottled Lightning
I would up the damage here to 4d6.
Hidden Belfry
Instead of traveling to the Palace of Heart's Desire, these cranes will take the players to the entrance of Arctis Tor which we will cover in our next article. You may want to avoid allowing players to use this without an invitation from Endelyn (either freely given or forced) as it likely means they're skipping (fun) content and won't have a good way to make their way through Arctis Tor.

2023.05.28 22:59 MutatedWizard I attended Cannes 2023! Here are my Reviews and Oscar Prognosis

I'm back in Cannes for the third year in a row! I can gladly say that this festival is more than worth the effort, even though it takes a lot of work to make it magical. I've been able to continually attend thanks to the 3 Days in Cannes program, which is offered to people aged 18-28. For any of you in that age range, I highly recommend you take up the opportunity to attend!
You can check out a ton of pictures I took on my Instagram Account and other reactions at my Letterboxd. While I didn't get any personal pictures with celebrities like last year, I did briefly cross paths with Alice Rohrwacher after the premiere of La Chimera, Nanni Moretti on his way to the closing ceremony, and Jonathan Glazer as he was walking away from his photoshoot with the Grand Prix.
Just as I have done with the 2021 and 2022 editions with this post, I’m going to share my thoughts on the 13 films I saw (a new record!), as well as reactions I heard from people about other films. I’ll also give my Oscar prognosis on each one.
I'll list them in the order I saw them, and then give a final ranking at the end. This was probably the weakest edition of the three years I've been. But don't let that statement mislead you, because a bad year is still pretty good.
And before you comment, I was NOT able to see any of the out-of-competition premieres like Killers of the Flower Moon, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, or Elemental. I also won't be covering them in this post since those movies have been widely talked about and will be major talking points for months to come.

FILMS I SAW

A BRIGHTER TOMORROW
My Review: With his own version of Bardo, Nanni Moretti provides humorous meta commentary on his personal and professional life, as well as the state of modern filmmaking.
While not all that innovative or groundbreaking, it's still light and breezy enough to be a good time. (6/10)
Oscar Prognosis: It received much worse reviews than I anticipated. Moretti has never been on the Academy's radar either, and it looks almost certain that La Chimera will be Italy's submission for the International Feature category.
ABOUT DRY GRASSES
My Review: 197 minutes with the biggest asshole in all of Turkey. Will definitely require (and deserve) a rewatch at some point, although I'm not exactly sure I'll ever have the ambition to dive back into this again. (6/10)
Oscar Prognosis: My dissatisfaction puts me in the minority, as many other people walked away thinking this was one of Ceylan's best. It's ultra talky and ultra slow (just like all Ceylan films). Merve Dizdar's win for Best Actress was fully deserved, as she provides a much more interesting character arc compared to the main "protagonist."
Ceylan has represented Turkey numerous times for Best International Feature, but he has yet to be nominated. I doubt this will be the film to crack him in, as it's respected more than loved. It also doesn't have a US distributor, so we'll have to see who picks it up.
MONSTER
My Review: Kore-eda brings Rashomon into the modern age with Monster, a movie that is both much more gentle and deadlier than it's title implies. While I hope be goes back to writing his own scripts, Kore-eda's touch as a director is still undeniable, especially during the final two acts. (7/10)
Oscar Prognosis: This film is eerily similar to Lukas Dhont's Close from last year, which I mean in the best way possible. Shoplifters remains as Kore-eda's only film to receive Oscar attention. I don't think Monster will bring him back, especially with Japan likely to submit Miyazaki's How Do You Live?.
MAY DECEMBER
My Review: Grab the marshmallows and graham crackers because Todd Haynes is bringing the camp! Portman and Moore have delicious chemistry, with Charles Melton taking over from Austin Butler as the new CW movie star. I'm hoping the Netflix acquisition will allow a new generation of cinephiles to appreciate Haynes. (7/10)
Oscar Prognosis: I want to give major props to everyone involved with this film for not spoiling just how silly it is. Portman and Moore are going BIG with their performances, and so Is Todd Hayne's direction. This is "trash" handled by masters of the craft. I'm kind of doubtful of it being a big Oscar player on account of its weirdness. If anything, maybe the screenplay and Portman can get in with the last slots. We'll know more once Netflix outlines their release strategy for it, as I don't know if they'll bring back into the conversation with the fall festivals, or just kind of toss it aside.
LAST SUMMER
My Review: Nothing like climbing the Lumiere steps at 7am to watch some stepmom-stepson action. To be honest, I only saw this so I could see at least one movie in the Grand Theatre, as everything else from schedule was one of the secondary theaters. (6/10)
Oscar Prognosis: Won't be submitted by France, nor does it have good reviews. No chance whatsoever. It's not like a Catherine Breillat film was going to gel with the Oscar's anyway.
THE ZONE OF INTEREST
My Review: Sickening in the most calculated way possible, The Zone of Interest is Jonathan Glazer's answer to the question of how evil can exist unchecked. Soak it all in during your first watch, because I doubt you'll ever want to view the world this way again. (8/10)
Oscar Prognosis: This is going to be the movie that critics will rally around during the season, so don't be surprised if NYFCC and/or LAFCA throw it their laurels. There's rumors that A24 will be releasing it around December, meaning they're likely to tour it around all of the major fall festivals.
I know we've been going by the "one international director nominated per year" rule for a while now, but I think we need to look at it a little more specifically. Every international directing nominee in the expanded era has been for a movie that won a prize at Cannes: 2011: Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist); 2012: Michael Haneke (Amour); 2018: Paweł Pawlikowski (Cold War); 2019: Bong Joon-ho (Parasite); 2020*: Thomas Vinterberg (Another Round); 2021: Ryusuke Hamaguchi (Drive My Car); 2022: Ruben Östlund (Triangle of Sadness). Glazer could, and probably will, join that list. This is such a directorial showcase that that specific branch has been known to favor.
However, I wouldn't go around thinking this will be a strong contender in many other categories. This is a cold arthouse movie that is a miserable watch, meaning it could be a turnoff for a good chunk of voters. Think of it more like a Terrence Malick movie.
The script and the actors, while great, aren't the things the movie focuses on, nor are they the features you walk away most impressed by. Mica Levi's score is incredibly haunting, but it rarely featured (maybe less than 25% of the movie), so I'm not sure how much traction it will get.
It's likely between the UK and Poland for submitting it for Best International Feature. My money is on Poland considering that's where a good chunk of the funds came from, and the story is more closely connected to that region. Whoever submits it, this will be one of the major contenders.
FIREBRAND
My Review: I'm a simple man. I see some costumes and hear a big score, I'm satisfied. This could have used a little more directorial flair (which slightly begs the question for why it was even here to begin with), but Vikander and Law make up for that with their fiery performances. (7/10)
Oscar Prognosis: It only had an outside chance to begin with, and the reviews have mostly sunken any sliver of hope. Dune: Part Two, Killers of the Flower Moon, Oppenheimer, and Barbie are likely to crowd the craft categories, making it extremely doubtful this gets in anywhere. Jude Law's performance is a standout, but there won't be any passion for the movie to take him anywhere. This really should have been a TIFF Gala premiere.
BLACK FLIES
My Review: You might as well walk into this movie with a headache because you're going to get one five minutes in. You might as well not watch this movie if you're squeamish to blood and needles. You might as well not watch this movie if you want to watch interesting characters in an original story. You might as well not watch this movie. (5/10)
Oscar Prognosis: There really needs to be limit out in place for how much Sean Penn can be at Cannes, because his output these past few years has been putrid. No Oscar chances, nor will anyone probably see it.
ANATOMY OF A FALL
My Review: Disappointing isn't the right word (since I still liked it), but there was something special missing that prevented me from loving it like everyone else. 150 minutes doesn't necessarily fly by, no matter how flawless Sandra Huller's performance is. Maybe Saint Omer filled me up on French courtroom dramas and I'm still not ready for more? (7/10)
Oscar Prognosis: I didn't think Neon would get much out of Triangle of Sadness last year, so I don't want to count them out again. This will likely be France's submission for Best International Feature, and possibly be their best chance to win the category after years of a disappointment. Similar to Jonathan Glazer, Sandra Hüller's lead performance will be a critic's favorite. I'm doubtful about Best Picture and any of the other top categories, but I could see still see it happening if other big contenders start dropping off.
PERFECT DAYS
My Review: The serenity of doing the mundane, and the bliss we could all achieve if we didn't overcomplicate everything we do. One of those movies that sounds terrible on paper, and yet is oh so beautiful. Watch this on a calm summer day with some tea. (7/10)
Oscar Prognosis: This a Japanese-German co-production, so either country could submit it. Wenders has never been nominated in the Best International Feature category (although that's mostly because it's been forever since he made a good narrative feature). With Neon also behind it, there's an outside shot of a nomination.
BANEL & ADAMA
My Review: I've always had a blind spot for African films, so I felt compelled to let this be a mini-introduction. Plus, it's barely 80 minutes so it slotted easily into my schedule. It has a bold style about it, with some striking cinematography and music cues. A stronger narrative would have lifted it higher. A great debut, and I'd be happy to watch Sy's next film if it were to come back to the festival. (6/10)
Oscar Prognosis: It doesn't have a US distributor, nor do I think will get a US release in time for contention. It won't matter, as the reviews are tepid and the movie doesn't have the gravitas to stay noticed.
ASTEROID CITY
My Review: By far the strangest film in his already strange filmography, Asteroid City is Wes Anderson's attempt at a Christopher Nolan movie. It's got all the trappings you've come to love (or hate), with some really interesting methods to express its ideas. I'm already planning more than one rewatch once it opens in theaters! (8/10)
Oscar Prognosis: I'm a Wes Anderson apologist (The French Dispatch still remains one of my all-time favorite movies after seeing it at Cannes 2021), so don't think my rave reaction will be uniformly applied. This movie is way weirder than you think it's going to be, which is evidenced by the divided critical reactions.
As with all Anderson projects, it's impeccably crafted. But with The French Dispatch being blanked in a relatively weaker year, I'm not so sure this will crack any categories. Maybe Best Production Design, but there are so many other heavy hitters I'd predict first.
THE OLD OAK
My Review: This was rumored for a prize, which would have absolutely pissed me off. Painfully flat and oversimplified, with way too much time spent speechifying instead of actually building characters. Basically boils down to "racism is bad" and ends without resolving the main plot and one of the subplots. (4/10)
Oscar Prognosis: Ken Loach is not an Oscar player, so don't expect anything.

FALLEN LEAVES
It won the Jury Prize and was acquired by Mubi, so there's some hope it gets into the Best International Feature category. Kaurismäki has been nominated before, and I expect this to pop up at the fall festivals.
LA CHIMERA
The reviews from highbrow critics have been great, but there was a much more mixed reaction from the "regular" people I talked to. I expect Italy to submit it, and it has a decent chance of getting nominated.
THE POT AU FEU
This was definitely the surprise of the festival. It premiered pretty late and it immediately became the talk of the town the day after. It still doesn't have US distribution, so I'm not sure what prospects it has. Honestly, the best case scenario is that it becomes a cult classic years later and inspires some food-themed screenings at indie cinemas.

Ret: “Looks like we’re in the Wild, Wild Universe.”
Indicate gets up, brushing himself off and looking around. Eventually, he spots a nearby town.
Indicate: “Hey, maybe we can find some clues at that town!”
Indicate dashes towards the town, the other Indicates in pursuit. Once they make to the town, they see a bunch of other Indicates walking around, chatting with one another, riding horses, and just having a good time overall. Despite how small the town was, it was actually pretty crowded.
Denial: “Geez, is every universe gonna be like this? It’s really annoying…”
Signal: “No time for sarcasm, we gotta focus on finding the first shard.”
Denial: “As you wish, your majesty.”
Signal growled at Denial, crossing her arms and pouting. The Indicates step into a fairly crowded bar. The bartender notices that they walked in and they recognized them instantly.
???: “Ayyyyyy, if it isn’t the Superstars!”
Indicate: “Superstars?”
Oversight slowly slid next to Indicate, whispering in his ear.
Oversight: ”We tried to come up with a team name, don’t worry about it.”
The bartender looked at Indicate and Denial.
Sho: “Oh, y’all two probably don’t know me, I’m Sho. Pleased to meet ya.”
Denial: “Yo.”
Indicate: “Nice to meet you too!”
Sho poured a few cups of wine, handing each cup to the Indicates. Ret downs his glass in one gulp while the others drink slowly.
Sho: “So what brings y’all to this here town?”
Indie: “We’re here to find a shard for the Shooting Star.”
Sho: “Well, sorry partner. I haven’t seen one ‘round these parts.”
Indicate groans, pouting.
Indicate: “Well that’s great! Now where are we gonna find the shard?”
Denial: “Can it, Indi. We can probably find it in another town.”
Oversight: “Yeah, and hey. Maybe we could find some cool souvenirs on the way ther-“
Suddenly, someone walked into the bar, the Indicates turning around to face the figure. The background Indicates instantly stop talking and stared at the figure as well. Turns our, it was the sheriff.
Ret: “Aw man, I thought it was gonna be some sort of big, bad villa- oh he has the shard on his badge.”
Ret points at the sheriffs badge.
???: “I see you fellers are looking at my badge. Pretty sweet huh?”
The sheriff smirked, pulling out his revolver, spinning it with his finger.
O.K: “They call me Sheriff O.K round these parts, what’s a couple of outsiders doin’ in this town?”
Indicate springs from his seat, pointing at Sheriff O.K’s badge.
Indicate: “We’re here for that shard on your badge!”
O.K: “Heh, I’m afraid I can’t let you do that partner.”
Denial shrugs, smirking.
Denial: “Well, that’s a shame. Guess we’ll be heading ho-“
Indicate slams his hand on Denial’s mouth.
Indicate: “You and me, standoff, NOW!”
Sheriff O.K looked surprised, but quickly burst into laughter.
O.K: “YOU? TAKE ME ON IN A STANDOFF?”
He wipes a tear from his eye.
O.K: “Alright kid, fine.”
He tosses Indicate a revolver. Signal leans towards Indicate.
Signal: “Are you sure you wanna do this? This guy’s faster than any experienced gunslinger in the entire Indiverse! He’s undefeated!”
Indicate: “Relax, I got a plan…”
A few minutes of prep time later, Indicate and Sheriff are standing outside, staring at each other harder than Luigi’s death stare. The clock is ticking, the sun is beaming, and their hearts and pumping….

Sheriff shot straight at Indicate’s head, but Indicate smirked, catching it with his teeth!

-MOBAs became popular via Warcraft 3, MMORPGs (and subscription-based games) became mainstream via WoW and to a lesser extent games like Everquest, Eve Online and Tibia -Multimedia systems (besides as music players which PS1 and SAT were already; PSP was a good portable music and movie player pre-smart phones+could be plugged into a TV (DS as well though only for one screen)). DVD playback on 2/4 consoles (the Xbox required an external IR adapter to be plugged into a controller port in order to play movie DVDs; the DC and GC didn't have it built-in) -Online gaming on consoles (Halo 1-2, Star Wars Battlefront 2, R&C: Up Your Arsenal, Call of Duty 3, TimeSplitters 2 & FP, Killzone, FF11, etc). 2023.05.28 08:25 Aggressive_Mouse_222 Green Screen Tracking Camera Moving. Help me not to make mistakes before we shoot!

Filmmaker over here needing green screen help from the experts! Hoping the fact I’m asking before we shoot next month (not after we’ve made mistakes) will win me some brownie points with this amazing VFX community.
  1. Computer screen track: A major character in our story is a computer. We want to be able to add her display in afterwards in post. Would it be correct to just paint an old monitor green? If the camera moves, do we need to add trackers? Does it matter if actors cross in front of it but stay a few feet away? What app is best to use for this? I’ve only ever replaced a green screen background with a stationary camera.
  2. Plane background: We are shooting a scene with a chunk of a plane situated on a massive painted green screen in a soundstage. We want to make it look like the plane is suspended in space. Again, the camera will move. Do we need trackers here? What’s the best program to use? Just plopping a video of space behind the plane seems too easy. Should we 3D model?
  3. Are there any huge mistakes I should avoid besides: spillover, bad lighting, actors/set wearing similar colors, too close to screen, etc.
Thank you for helping this indie filmmaker who hasn’t worked with VFX before! And if any of you can afford ably fix a 1-2 minute sequence like the above, please DM me your demo reel and rates. If this is super complicated, I may be asking for even more help and just hire an expert!

This was written primarily as a fanfic, so be aware that it includes a non-canon pairing. In my defence, it suited the premise too well, and it would've been great if it was canon, and also I have a permit.
(Also please kindly pretend that it is still 2016 and both Hamilton and The Office are still relevant.)

(It’s early in the morning and still dark. Oscar arrives carrying a case filled with documents; he looks tired. As he walks in, a gun appears in the foreground, pointed at him.)
Michael (O.S.): (singing) Summon all the courage you require…!
OSCAR: What the (bleep)?! (spins around, jumps again when he sees the gun and falls over)
DWIGHT (O.S.): Nice, got him.
MICHAEL: No, that wasn’t the point, he was supposed—
OSCAR: (trying to pull himself up, shouting) Michael? Again?!

ANDY TALKING HEAD

ANDY: (grinning almost manically) Sooooo, take a guess what the latest trend to hit the good ol’ Dunder Mifflin is this time! C’mon, guess!
(camera zooms out to show him decked out in an impressive array of Hamilton merchandise)
ANDY (CONT’D): Does this ring a bell?! (sings) Alexander Hamilton… My name is Alexander Hamilton… ...anyway, it is huge and I have never been so excited in my life! Oscar and I, after I told him all about it years ago – we’ve been big fans, and I mean like mega fans! So to see it grow up and become such a viral sensation like this, when we’ve loved it ever since the beginning… It sorta feels like… Our baby, y’know?

OSCAR TALKING HEAD

OSCAR: (sardonic) when andy first told me about Hamilton I thought it sounded like the dumbest thing I’d ever heard. (beat) but… (composes himself) but sometimes, in a relationship, you have to be willing to… compromise. When one of you cares so much about something, you have to be willing to at least give it a try, because it’s important to them. (beat; the truth comes out.) ...also, those early reviews were amazing.

INT. OFFICE – CONTINUOUS

OSCAR: You can’t keep doing this! (pulls himself up; cleans himself off roughly)
MICHAEL: yeah, well, you keep not saying the lines! If I’ve done it so many times, how come you still don’t know your lines?
OSCAR: It’s not – you can’t just ambush someone with a gun!
DWIGHT: (scoffing) It’s not real. You should consider this vital training—
MICHAEL: (irritable) No, Dwight, it’s not about training, it’s about art, and-and culture—
OSCAR: It’s a gun! (walks O.S., visibly angry.)
(Dwight and Michael share bemused shrugs)

ANDY TALKING HEAD

ANDY: ‘Cause now, we don’t just get to enjoy it between the two of us: we get to share it with all our friends, as well! And now that Michael’s gotten into it, even our boss! (laughs, delighted) This is the best week of my entire life!

OSCAR TALKING HEAD

OSCAR: We did… have a really good time. It actually has been really nice to have this thing we both really enjoy together. And… I don’t want to sound like, y’know, one of those insufferable hipsters, but… I kinda liked it when it was just us, y’know? (a thought occurs to him and he turns solemn; the camera zooms in) And now that Michael has discovered it, I can never admit to enjoying it. Ever again. Publicly.

INT. OFFICE – BULLPEN

(Establishing shot of the bullpen; it’s a typical day in the office. Erin carries a stack of opened mail into Michael’s office.)

INT. Michael’S OFFICE – CONTINUOUS

MICHAEL: Oh, eugh. Already?
ERIN: Yeah, I know. But some of these are getting sorta overdue…
MICHAEL: (resigned) Well, fine. Hit me.
ERIN: Okay, so there’s a bunch of financial reports that accounting will really need to see, but that’s really boring, so—
MICHAEL: (brightens immediately) Oh, accounting! I can do that!
ERIN: W— ...really? You don’t want me to…?
MICHAEL: (grinning) Yeah, sure! Just leave it to me! I can take care of it, no worries!
ERIN: (smiles delightedly) Thanks, Michael! You’re such a nice boss.
MICHAEL: (glances proudly at camera as he leaves)

INT. OFFICE – BULLPEN

(Michael strides through, one single page in his hand.)
MICHAEL: Well, well, well! We meet again, my good sir!
(Several heads look up, including Andy’S. Oscar doesn’t notice until Michael has almost reached his desk.)

INT. OFFICE – ACCOUNTING AREA — CONTINUOUS

MICHAEL: Mr. Alexander Hamilton! (before Oscar can respond, Michael begins drumming on his desk and singing) Alexander Hamilton, had… (fumbles over his words) had a torrid affair, and he wrote it down right there! (pokes aggressively at the document Oscar had been reading from, causing it to flutter off the desk)
(Angela looks very annoyed. Kevin laughs, but looks confused.)
OSCAR: Michael, please don’t interrupt me like that. (ducks down to retrieve document.)
KEVIN: Oscar… are you having an affair?
(cut to Andy, who suddenly looks taken aback. Oscar glances back to him for just a moment.)
OSCAR: What? No! I’m not—it’s a play.
MICHAEL: Well, technically, it’s a musical, not a play. C’mon, Oscar, you should know this!
ANDY: (back in high spirits) Exactamundo! Though if you believe some, Hamilton would technically actually qualify as an op-er-ahh, due to the lack of—
MICHAEL: (ignores him) I mean, this should be your thing! I don’t—I don’t understand why you don’t love it as much as I do! He’s your guy, and you should be proud of that!
OSCAR: It’s… (ducks head, avoiding eyes) It’s not about loving, it’s about work…
(Andy grins and shoots him a thumbs up)
OSCAR: ...wait, what do you mean he’s my guy? How is he ‘my guy’?
MICHAEL: Well, for starters, he’s an accountant. There’s not exactly a ton of musicals about them.
OSCAR: I don’t think he was an accountant.
MICHAEL: No, it’s true! See, this is why you need to learn your lines: (sings) ‘We need to handle our financial situation, we are a states of our nation, not a…’ y’know? Like, who else but an accountant would have a song about something so boring? (laughs)
(Angela shoots another glare at him)

ANGELA TALKING HEAD

ANGELA: (already frustrated) No, see, that’s the wrong question to ask. Do you understand that? Because musicals, back in the day, were about wholesome things, like family, or cats. But nowadays, they’re all just an excuse to shout curse words in front of an audience and promote sexual flexibility. So, no, I can’t say that I ‘like musicals’ in general. (pauses) ‘Julius Caesar.’ Now that was a good, Christian musical.

KEVIN TALKING HEAD

KEVIN: I’m not really sure… what is going on. (frowns) But I think… Oscar is having an affair… with an accountant named Alexander Hamilton. (pauses, thinks deeply) I wonder which branch he works at…

MICHAEL: And, besides: you, my dear Oscar, have to love him, ‘cause he’s a brother! (awkwardly mimics a fist bump)
OSCAR: (genuinely confused) ...you mean Lin-Manuel Miranda?
MICHAEL: What? No! Alexander Hamilton! C’mon, are you out of it today? Earth to Oscar!
(Several others look confused. Andy laughs nervously. Pam stares at Michael in horror and realisation.)
PAM: (in awe) Michael… do you think Alexander Hamilton was Hispanic?
MICHAEL: (defensive and incredulous) Well… (laughs) Uh, ye-heah! Because he was! (entreating) He was born in Puerto Rico!
OSCAR: (shaking head in disbelief) That’s—that’s not even true.
MICHAEL: Well, close enough.
ANDY: (sympathetically.) I am afraid not, my dude! Common misconception.
(Jim raises an eyebrow at the camera: “is it, really?”)
ANDY, CONT’D:But in actual fact, (builds up steam: he has been Waiting for a chance to infodump about this musical) the real Alexander Hamilton himself was born in (terrible Scottish accent) the fair green isles of Scotland, born to the sixth son of a lord, and grew up in Saint Kitts and Nevis which was actually—
MICHAEL: (defensive and irritable) So, what, are there no Hispanic people in Scotland?! Andy, not every Hispanic person comes from Mexico, or looks like it: it’s a really personal identity that people have to decide for themselves. So, so I think you’re the one being really racially insensitive right now.
(Andy shoots a very worried look at Oscar, who shakes his head and smiles comfortingly. Andy looks relieved. Angela glares at them both.)
OSCAR: Well, it doesn’t matter. Because like I said, it’s not about how much I like the musical or not, it’s about doing my job. Now, do you have something for me, Michael?
MICHAEL: (loud sigh; now he’s frustrated) Well, fine. I was just trying to introduce some actual culture into this office, for once. And maybe I was trying to inspire you, Oscar, specifically: did you ever think about that? Stimulate you, like a good rival does.
(Pam and Jim raise an eyebrow at each other.)
ANDY: (spluttering) Um, wait. Are you putting yourself into the position of Burr? ‘Cause, I think, if anyone here is gonna be Burr, it’s me. I mean, I stimulate Oscar way more than you do.
ANGELA: (screws up nose) Eurgh.
MICHAEL: (snorts) No, come on, be serious. Like you could get into a duel with someone! No offence, Oscar.

DWIGHT: No, I am not interested in seeing Hamilton. Frankly, the very idea of writing a musical about someone who lost a duel is… (considers this) repulsive to me. If I were Alexander Hamilton, I wouldn’t wait until the final count. I wouldn’t even have shown up. I’d have hidden among the trees and finished Burr off before he even knew I was there. (beat) And, I wouldn’t have endorsed Thomas Jefferson, either. I’d have run myself, and become president, and undone Washington’s stupid ‘two terms’ rule. (thinks) Man...I should write a book about this.

INT. OFFICE – ACCOUNTING AREA (CONTINUOUS)

MICHAEL: See? (gestures at Dwight) Burr is way better because he lives all the way to the end and in a lot of ways, he’s basically the main character!
(Dwight nods approvingly)
PAM: Well, not that I’ve seen it myself, but I’ve read a lot of editorials claiming that Eliza is basically the real main character.
JIM: Yeah, I mean, if it’s about you and Oscar, wouldn’t you rather be Hamilton’s actual spouse?
ANDY: (scoffs) Why would I want to be Eliza? Hamilton cheats on her!

OSCAR: And, you guys: it really is amazing. Absolutely everything everyone says it is. And, if that’s how I thought of it back when I saw it, when it was still basically a little indie production: I can’t imagine what it’s become now, when it’s a worldwide sensation!
PAM: (faintly, with murder in her eyes) Before it was popular…
OSCAR: (deeply smug) Yeah! Just, being able to support something like that, it makes you feel a bit like a patron of the arts, y’know? Get to be a real, substantial part of making it happen.

Sabre shoots for an early Article 50, but Tana sidesteps him into the ropes, before condescendingly patting him on the cheek! Zack retaliates with a forearm, knocking Tana to the mat, a deluge of stomps raining down on his face as the Hiroshi tries to cover up!

Escaping to the ropes, Sabre charges at him with a EUROPEAN UPPERCUT! Tana evades, connecting a DRAGON-STYLE HARITE, slapping respect into the challenger! Tana’s quick to make the ropes, though has to physically pull himself to the apron when Sabre doesn’t release! No breather for him, Zack hooks his leg in the ropes and connects a DRAGON SCREW!

Tana receiving a taste of his own medicine, Sabre slides out and scores one directly on the apron, bashing Hiroshi’s leg into the hardest part of the ring! He attempts to Irish Whip Tanahashi into the ring post, but the Once in a Century Talent nails a SLING BLADE ON THE APRON! DRAGON SUPLEX TO THE FLOOR!!! Tana lets out shouts of agony, Zack milking the suffering as Hiroshi begs the referee to get the challenger to stop. Wanting to change that, he calls out Ospreay, who’s fresh off dropping the NEVER 6-Man Titles to Just6Guys, having had quite the identity crisis since having the WK main event taken from him. Whilst Sabre and Ospreay have kept their distance since their Royal Quest match, the same can’t be said about the greater stables. World Tag League Winners TMDK taking Aussie Open’s IWGP Tag Team Championship at Wrestle Kingdom and United Empire successfully defending the NEVER Titles against Sabre-Gun at the Anniversary Show, this conclusion was only inevitable. Aussie Open also wanting a chance to get their titles back, they team with Ospreay here against the champion unit, the Commonwealth Nations going to war for supremacy.

Unlike Royal Quest, Sabre’s notably a lot surer of himself against Will here, no longer compensating by matching his striking game, rather trying to make Ospreay play his game instead. However, even with Zack being in his best possible form, SG falters against UE once more, the Coriolis to Mikey Nicholls setting the stage for Wrestling Dontaku! Zack grits his teeth as much like Tanahashi, Ospreay looks down on him.

As for Sabre, it’s his first time defending a title of this magnitude, pressure clearly weighing on his shoulders, but taking a deep breath, he prepares himself for victory just like TMDK earlier in the night.

As the bell rings… Ospreay explodes for a DROPKICK right away – shades of NJC 2021! Zack fishes the leg out the air and applies an ANKLE LOCK, LOOKING TO TAP HIM OUT WITHIN THE FIRST FEW SECONDS OF THE MATCH! Alarmed, Ospreay thrashes with kicks from his free leg to force Sabre off, rolling to the outside to recollect himself! Sabre doesn’t let him though, nailing a Baseball Slide Dropkick, before tossing him back in and wrangling the leg again!

A roll shakes him off, a HOOK KICK following, AND AN OSCUTTER! Sabre stops it though, countering with a SNAP DRAGON SUPLEX! Will rotates through to his feet and soars for a STANDING SHOOTING STAR PRESS, but again Zack dodges! BOW & ARROW ATTEMPT! Will flips into a cover, Zack kicking out instantly! Ospreay handsprings off the ropes, teasing his signature Enzuigiri, Sabre grasping the leg mid-air, but another follows, wrapping around his neck to twist through into a CROSS ARMBREAKER FROM WILL!

Sabre gets the monkey grip, preventing full extension, BUT WILL BITES THE FINGERS TO FORCE HIM OFF, now getting the full stretch, yelling at the referee to ask Zack if he submits! Sabre refuses however, rolling onto his stomach to turn the hold over and stand up, getting his legs around Will’s neck to score a NECK TWIST, getting him to release!

Zack knowing it to be a sore spot, he gets rallying with European Uppercuts to rock it like a bobblehead, before leaping into a GUILLOTINE CHOKE! Zack tightens his grip around Will’s neck, but a BUCKLE EXPLODER SUPLEX loosens it again as Sabre’s left dangling in a Tree of Woe! Ospreay sits cross-legged in front of him and SMASHES HIS NOSE WITH FOREARMS, busting a defenceless Zack open! Fish-hooking the nose, Will shakes his head about and lets crimson droplets paint the surroundings like a psychopathic Bob Ross, before letting go, cackling.

He heads to the top rope, but Zack meets him there, pulling himself up using his core strength and crotching Will on the neighbouring rope! The two face-to-face again, Zack sitting on the turnbuckle and Will on the rope, they trade forearms, blood continuing to leak down Sabre’s face, but he doesn’t care, INSTEAD GRABBING WILL’S LEG TO SUSPEND HIM UPSIDE-DOWN WITH A HANGING SUNDAY RAIL ENGINEERING WORKS REPLACEMENT BUS SERVICE!!!

Will’s in sheer agony as Sabre contorts his limb, but he’s saved by the referee’s count, Sabre forced to let go, Ospreay slumping to the apron. Zack turns to face the apron as he collects his wits and catches his breath, whilst Will nurses his leg, being checked on by the referee to make sure he’s good to continue, hopping to his base. Sabre settles down on the apron behind Will, grabbing him from behind, TESTING AN APRON TIGER SUPLEX!

Ospreay smashes the nose with a rear headbutt to ward him off! AND HE SPRINGS OFF ONE LEG TO DROP SABRE WITH AN APRON OSCUTTER, BOTH MEN SPILLING TO THE FLOOR!!! The referee starts their count as both lay still, no sign of movement as the 10 count nears. Reaching 12 now, they finally begin to stir, getting on all fours… 13… 14… 15… OSPREAY’S LEG GIVES OUT! 16… 17… 18… BOTH MEN MAKE ONE LAST PUSH, SABRE SHOVING HIMSELF INSIDE THE RING BY 19, WHILST OSPREAY PULLS HIMSELF UP ONTO THE APRON AND SPRINGS OFF ONE LEG ON THE ROPES FOR A PIP PIP CHEERIO!!! ONE! TWO! THR-KICK OUT!!!

Coming down hard on the leg though, Ospreay writhes in pain, but with Zack down, he pulls himself up with every last bit of energy he has up for STORM BREAKER… ZACK WITH AN OCTOPUS HOLD!!! Will immediately rams him into the turnbuckle until he lets up, Sabre instead sliding down his back like a bird hitting a window, OSPREAY COLLECTING HIM TO NAIL A HITODENASHI DRIVER!!! ONE! TWO! THR-NOOOOOOOO!!!

Will shouts in frustration, having jammed the leg on the landing. Feeling victory nigh though, he preps the HIDDEN BLADE!!! SABRE SPINS AROUND AND COUNTERS WITH A ZACK DRIVER!!! ONE! TWO! THR-NO DICE!!! PENTALTY KICK! ANOTHER COVER!!! ONE! TWO! THR-STILL NO LUCK!!! NOW A NUMERO DOS A LA DESPERADO!!! Ospreay screams as Sabre tears the leg in half, Will dancing around in search of reprieve, until a FRANKENSTEINER stands ZSJ on his dome! BRAINBUSTER FOLLOWS!

Sabre rocked, Ospreay cracks the CHELSEA GRIN against his neck, before connecting the HIDDEN BLADE!!! ONE! TWO! THR-ZACK’S STILL IN IT!!! Will’s leg is falling apart as he stumbles back into the corner to try for seconds, losing balance and collapsing before he can reach his target! EUROPEAN CLUTCH FROM ZACK!!! ONE! TWO! THR-OSPREAY SURVIVES!!! BUT A PENALTY KICK TO THE SKULL! AND STRAIGHT INTO ORIENTEERING WITH NAPALM DEATH!!! OSPREAY THRASHES LIKE A MADMAN, FEELING HIS LIGAMENTS ON THE VERGE OF TEARING… AND HE TAPS!!!

KICK TO THE GUT – GOTCH-STYLE PILEDRIVER!!! HE’S HERE!!! Placing a boot on Zack’s chest, Suzuki holds the World Title high over his former stablemate’s body!

The ending of Dontaku has Japan buzzing as they question the true motive of Suzuki’s attack, and after an extended silence, the King sets the record straight. 1 ½ years ago, Suzuki-Gun was dissolved, and ever since, Sabre’s been writing checks with his mouth that he can’t cash. He walks around with the World Title like he’s the reason he even received recognition in NJPW in the first place. Suzuki gave him a home beside him, and as rapidly as he elevated Sabre, he can take it all away from him just as fast. He’s getting old and is still missing the final piece to the Japanese Triple Crown, so he plans to take that from Zack.

Sabre doesn’t take too kindly to these words, letting his actions speak for himself as he ASSAULTS SUZUKI on a Road To Dontaku show! Bringing Sabre-Gun with him, they brutalise the legend, before Zack plants his group’s flag on Suzuki’s chest! Sabre tries for a quick getaway but he’s stopped by Minoru, who gives him a devilish snarl before clobbering him with forearms until Sabre-Gun’s sent packing through the crowd, Zack yelling expletives at Suzuki as he retreats!

With Sabre-Gun and Just6Guys feuding ever since their respective formations, switching between silent competitive warfare of racking up belts to fighting each other, notably the Sabre/Taichi saga, it all fully comes to a head in Suzuki’s home of Yokohama! With full freedom to destroy each other however they please, the two factions don’t hold back one bit, with Suzuki especially targeting ZSJ. He’s unable to give him grief the way he wishes to though, Zack tactfully hiding behind his partners until he can blindside Minoru, before scramming again. Ultimately, it’s Minoru putting Desperado away with the GOTCH PILEDRIVER, before signalling to Sabre that time’s running out for him, Suzuki to get his hands on him too soon enough!

STEEL CHAIR TO SABRE’S SPINE!!! Suzuki isn’t wasting even a second here, tearing the jacket off Sabre’s back before bending the steel over his spine! The Windy Man desperately tries to crawl away to the ring, but Suzuki steps on his ankle to stop him! Turning him around to meet his maker, MINORU GOES FOR A GOTCH PILEDRIVER ON THE CHAIR!!! LOW BLOW FROM SABRE TO COUNTER!!!

Suzuki drops to his knees as Osaka boos the smarmy champion, ZSJ now battering the King’s back, before finally sliding him in to get the match started! PENALTY KICK RIGHT AWAY!!! ONE! TWO! THR-KICK OUT!!! Sabre wrenches in a CLARKY CAT, working the arm as Suzuki writhes under him, but it’s not long before Minoru stands up out of it, hurling ZSJ to the mat! Booting him in the jaw, Suzuki backs him into the corner and tears into him with open palm strikes! He winds up a CORNER DROPKICK, but Sabre evades, blasting him with a rapid barrage of European Uppercuts against the turnbuckle!

Zack taking the run-up now, Suzuki bucks him over the ropes to the apron, SABRE BLASTING A THUMB IN HIS EYE! Minoru blinded, Zack leaps up for a SPRINGBOARD ENZUIGIRI- SUZUKI BLOCKS WITH A WILD SLAP TO THE CHEEK!!! Sabre stiffed, Suzuki applies a HANGING JUJI-GATAME FROM THE ROPES!!! Zack screams in agony as Minoru damn near rips his arm out the socket, the referee’s count the only thing keeping him from going!

Releasing, Sabre crumples to the floor, getting as far as he possibly can from Suzuki, though he’s not fast enough, Suzuki nailing a GOAL KICK to his skull from the apron! Grabbing Sabre, he HURLS him into the guardrail with it shoulder-first, the velocity sending Zack through! As he goes to collect his prey though, SABRE TOSSES A CHAIR AT HIS SKULL!!! Threading Suzuki’s arm through it, SABRE STOMPS THE ELBOW!!! AND AN ARTICLE 50!!!

Sabre abuses the legend, but he forgets about the other arm, Suzuki slapping his head in with it until Zack releases! Shaking off the arm, a BACK BODY DROP sends Sabre crashing back to ringside, Minoru following after him as ZSJ slinks inside the ring. Zack beats him to his feet though, stomping a hole through the mat with Suzuki’s skull, dribbling it! He cracks a ROLLING ELBOW off the skull, but Minoru walks through it, glaring at Sabre! Throwing an elbow of his own, it gets caught, Zack scoring the PELE KICK to the arm!

AND A KIMURA LOCK!!! Sabre brutally rips at the arm, bringing Suzuki to his knees from the pain even, but Minoru pins his shoulders to the mat! ONE! TWO! THR-SABRE RELEASES TO KICK OUT! As Zack rolls to his feet, a SHOTGUN DROPKICK awaits him! Suzuki clobbers him with slaps to the face, Sabre seeing stars as one knocks him clean off his feet! Turning to the turnbuckle… SUZUKI RIPS IT OFF!!! Steel exposed, he teases a SNAP SUPLEX INTO THE CORNER!!! SABRE COUNTERS WITH A BRAINBUSTER ON THE MAT!!! GUILLOTINE CHOKE!!!

Draining the life out of Suzuki, Sabre presses on the carotid artery, Minoru is deep trouble! BUT NOW THE KING BITES ON ZSJ’S FINGERS!!! Zack yelps and releases, allowing Suzuki to secure his wrists and STOMP HIS HEAD IN!!! Sabre catches a boot and applies SUNDAY RAIL ENGINEERING WORKS REPLACEMENT BUS SERVICE!!! ZSJ tortures Suzuki’s leg, though in doing so leaves his arm exposed, Minoru yanking off his grip and countering into HIS OWN HEEL HOOK!!!

Sabre desperately tries the same counter, but Suzuki’s grip is too tight to break, forcing Zack to roll to the ropes! SUZUKI ISN’T LETTING GO! Crawling on his hands, Sabre pulls himself to the floor and WHIPLASHES MINORU’S NECK OFF THE BOTTOM ROPE!!! Staggering about ringside on one foot, he grabs his title and rolls back in! Suzuki struggling up, Sabre tries to deck him with the belt… but the referee grabs it from behind! A tug-of-war ends in SUZUKI KNOCKING THE BELT INTO THE REF WITH AN ENZUIGIRI!

Both men hitting the deck, Minoru rocks ZSJ with a Dropkick! GOTCH PILEDRIVER ONTO THE TITLE!!! But there’s no one to count! Pissed, Suzuki limps out and abuses a couple young lions, before picking one out the crowd to toss in the ring, ripping the referee’s shirt off and telling the lion to put it on! SUZUKI COVERS! ONE! TWO! THR-NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Even more livid, HE DECKS THIS LION TOO! Turning back to Zack, he notices the champion feebly reaching for the belt! Kicking it out the ring, Suzuki goes for another GOTCH PILEDRIVER!!! BACK BODY DROP COUNTER!!!

Still hurting, Sabre struggles to get a rally of strikes going, Suzuki meeting him blow for blow! BUT SABRE WHIPS THE SHOULDER INTO THE MAT! Minoru stunned, sadistic thoughts run through Sabre’s mind… TIGER SUPLEX INTO THE EXPOSED STEEL!!! AND A RUNNING LIGER BOMB – ONE OF SUZUKI’S RIVALS MOVES!!! THE REFEREE’S BACK TO CONSCIOUSNESS! NOT LIKE THIS! ONE! TWO! THR-NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Sabre’s exasperated, thinking he had it! Running out of options, he teases a ZACK DRIVER, but Suzuki slips behind and applies the SLEEPER HOLD!!! Sabre’s quickly fading, frantically trying to tear the bad arm off, but Minoru doesn’t budge, shoving ZSJ to the mat for the PENALTY KICK!!! ONE! TWO! THR-ZACK KICKS OUT!!! Suzuki grabs Sabre by the chin, demanding him to strike Minoru if he thinks he’s so tough, ZSJ doing his best, but Suzuki eats it and returns a HARD SLAP! SLEEPER SUPLEX!!!

Tossing Sabre to the apron, Minoru steps onto the middle rope and cinches in an ELEVATED SLEEPER!!! Zack dangles in the air, unable to find his footing to escape, Suzuki lifting him higher and higher! Blood rushing to his legs, he needs to act fast, attacking the elbow again until the hold is finally slightly loosened! Leaning forwards, he pulls Suzuki his direction, allowing him to lower his feet onto the apron… YANKING SUZUKI INTO AN APRON ZACK DRIVER!!!

Sabre coughs up a lung as he kicks Minoru’s corpse back in, before lining up a PENALTY KICK!!! ONE! TWO! THR-SUZUKI’S ALIVE!!! Zack’s stunned as he comes face-to-face with Suzuki’s sneer, Minoru still having enough in him to throw slaps! Sabre returning Uppercuts, they go blow-for-blow until Zack collapses first, though he’s playing possum, HEADBUTTING THE SHOULDER as the King tries to grab him! He goes for YOU CAN’T PLAY CONKERS IN ENGLAND, though he’s immediately tossed down, SUZUKI NAILING A PENALTY KICK!!!

Winding up, Minoru goes for one more… ZACK SLAPS HIS HEAD OFF HIS SHOULDERS!!! Putting the head between his legs, HE NAILS A GOTCH PILEDRIVER!!! Suzuki collapses in position for a PENALTY KICK!!! AND NOW SABRE CINCHES IT IN – HURRAH! ANOTHER YEAR, SURELY THIS ONE WILL BE BETTER THAN THE LAST; THE INEXORABLE MARCH OF PROGRESS WILL LEAD US ALL TO HAPPINESS!!! Suzuki grits his teeth, trying to fight through it, Sabre keeping his eyes on his hands to see the tap… NOWHERE TO GO, MINORU FLIPS HIM OFF WITH BOTH HANDS AND VERBALLY SUBMITS!!!

Sabre tosses Suzuki aside to deal with the oncoming traffic, Taichi and co. putting up an honourable fight, but they’re still down a man, Sabre-Gun managing to retain their upper-hand, until… OH MY GOD, IT’S SUZUKI’S OLD TAG PARTNER NAOMICHI MARUFUJI!!! Sabre can’t even get a curse out before a KO-OH SMACKS HIM IN THE FACE!!! Marufuji beats on Zack to turn the tide, going for the POLE SHIFT, but Sabre manages to escape in the nick of time, Sabre-Gun once again sent on the retreat, the show closing on Marufuji helping Suzuki up!

Zack Sabre Jr. vs Naomichi Marufuji

After the events of Dominion, it’s only natural these two fight, long, long overdue a one-on-one since their NOAH days together! Fighting in Suzuki’s honour, Marufuji steps to the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion and it’s like 2016 all over again the way he utterly humbles Sabre to start like he’s facing Okada! A match of two halves, it goes from Naomichi giving ZSJ the biggest whooping of his life to Sabre brutally breaking down the legend, reminding him he’s 8 years too old to still be winning these sorts of matches. Though Maru gives Zack grief one more than one occasion, he meets his demise at the hands of a CREMATION LILY, Sabre spitting on Naomichi as he leaves, declaring himself untouchable!

Mugging Blackpool Combat Club’s young gun like they did Suzuki, a SABRE DRIVER leaves him broken on the mat as Zack yells down the camera that he wants Moxley’s head at Forbidden Door, scurrying away before BCC can make the save!

Off the back of Sabre’s assault on YUTA, a match is made between the two technically-gifted champions in a massive Collision main event! Though ZSJ’s far out his paygrade, an arrogant Wheeler does his best to knock off the Technical Wizard, impressing with a display of submissions he’s picked up from Danielson, before employing some of Claudio’s marquee athleticism and Mox’s grittiness. Never a fair match to begin with though, a TESCO MEAL DEAL cruelly silences YUTA!

Grabbing a mic, Zack runs down Moxley, reminding him how they were supposed to fight 4 years ago until the pandemic ruined that, Jon ducking him ever since. A note about decants: Accuracy and cleanliness are my highest priorities when decanting. I take it extremely seriously, and complete a series of confirmation checks to ensure that every single decant is filled to the correct volume – not even a drop less! My decants will generally come in screw top jars with a reducer and printed, easy-to-read labels. The following brands will come in vials instead of jars (unless you get 2mLs or more, in which case they’ll come in jars): Alpha Musk, Death & Floral, Possets, Haus of Gloi, and Hexennacht. I ensure that my materials and working space are kept very clean. I decant with disposable, single-use 1mL pipettes and check my work twice with a scale to ensure accurate fill level.
