2023.06.07 03:34 pillbox_purgatory 2k Gaming PC Build Request
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
I will be using this pc for both work and gaming. For my analytical work, I use Microsoft's Power BI. Games includes Overwatch 2, Fortnite, Diablo 4, Dead By Daylight, Final Fantasy 14.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
$2000 US Dollars
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
ASAP
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Tower
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
United States. I live near several Microcenters.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Won't be reusing any parts
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
I won't overclock right away. I'll do it much later down the line once I notice my computer lagging away.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
I need at least 32 GB of the fastest ram available and a 2TB FAST SSD (most people recommend these two conditions for Power BI). I also want the ability to add an additional 32GB of ram later on, but I won't be adding more ram right away.
What type of network connectivity do you need? (Wired and/or WiFi) If WiFi is needed and you would like to find the fastest match for your wireless router, please list any specifics.
Wired
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
I prefer a matte black case with window. In terms of cosmetics, I prefer very subtle, muted, low key looks ( I don't like really loud, noisy colors) but I am willing to sacrifice all the cosmetics if it helps me get even greater gaming performance from my budget.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
No.
Extra info or particulars:
This will be my very first gaming PC. I've been a console player all my life. I want to try something new.
A special Request: Can I get two versions of the build? One version that is dual Performance/Gaming and the other one that is purely Gaming. I have a strong feeling Power BI will run just fine on a pc build focused solely on gaming.
THANK YOU

2023.06.07 03:33 handsome_uruk Xfinity is double charging me and refuses to do anything about
Xfinity created two accounts under my name and is charging me for both. The accounts are inextricably linked to my credit and I can't stop the autopay. I have called Xfinity several times and they say there is nothing they can do about it. I requested that they remove my card from autopay and the company hasn't complied.
One account is legitimate, but the second secret account they created does not show up on their website or any of their billing notices. If I wasn't diligent in checking my credit card bill they would have got away with it.
I have never had customer service so bad in my life. The website crashes almost all the time. It's so hard to get a human on the line, and when they do they are completely useless. It's ridiculous that such a big company can't simply fix their billing system. They admit that the second account is spurious but then say there is nothing they can do on their end to fix it. I regret signing up with Xfinity. I could cancel my credit card but that is not something I want to do because of their incompetence. I use my credit for so many other things. I have filed complaints with FCC and BBB. My guess is they've been secretly doing this to many customers and getting away with it.

2023.06.07 03:33 94dogguy Any love for my little lad?! Aprilia SR50 R 2020
| Just finished upgrading and fixing up my bike I know it's not as cool as your guys big bikes but I love her. I'm a car driver as I never got my motorcycle license as it's hard to obtain here in the UK but adore driving this little thing. One of the last of the 2T engines here in the UK since the Euro 5 engine emission regulations so had to get it when I saw it. Owned for about a year and currently done 3,500 Miles. 2020 Model. Hoping it might help someone looking to tune up one of these as it took a lot of trial and error to get it right. I've put a lot of work into it so I'm proud, a kid had done 300 Miles on it when I bought it off him but it was in bad shape and a lot was wrong with it. Had been sitting for a long time. Currently does 54mph on a flat road according to GPS speedo and 61 down hill. Changes listed below: - Malossi 70cc Sport Cylinder
- Leo Vince TT Exhaust (derestricted)
- Malossi Gear Up Kit
- New 17.5mm Carb (Old one was broken and wanted to keep original air box)

2023.06.07 03:33 ChuffedChook How to stop fraying of finished blocks/tops?
The backs of my finished blocks/tops are always a frayed mess. I don't often use light colored fabrics so it usually isn't too much of a problem, but I've recently fallen in love with a pattern that does use light and dark fabrics. I don't want stray dark threads getting quilted in place under light fabric. Is there a secret to preventing so much fraying?

2023.06.07 03:32 Kaalisti This subreddit will be joining in on the June 12th-14th protest of Reddit's API changes that will essentially kill all 3rd party Reddit apps.
What's going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third-party app on Reddit, from
Apollo to
Reddit is Fun to
Narwhal to
BaconReader.
One rather large problem is that the official Reddit app and UI are not ADA compliant and people with visual impairment will not be able to use the site when the 3rd party apps go away on July 1.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface.
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan?
On June 12th,
many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action. What can you do as a user?
- Complain. Message the mods of /reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /reddit, such as this one, and leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
- Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join the coordinated mod effort at /ModCoord.
- Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely from June 12th through the 13th - instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
- Don't be a jerk. As upsetting as this may be, threats, profanity, and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable, and law-abiding as possible.
If you moderate your own subs:
Thank you for your patience in the matter, we will be back after the 14th. - Kaal submitted by

2023.06.07 03:32 dulcetcigarettes How many of these YouTube producers are just... frauds?
I've done research for past couple days on the dark depths of music production YouTube. And majority of the guys appear to be simply... frauds. When I look at what they're trying to teach - and how they're trying to teach - it's like they don't even know themselves and even if they did, there's just no amount of pedagogical thought behind any of it.
One of the litmus tests I have is simply checking out their own music. And shockingly, there's actually quite a few that don't even have their own music out there anywhere - like it's impossible to find! How can a person sell a $400 course on something without even having any kind of... portfolio that one could easily find?
One of these channels with no visible music even boasted that they had 700 people enrolled! 700 people enrolled into a course by a person who has no portfolio to speak of?
In videos titled like "How to be a better producer", they'll show things that honestly make me absolutely baffled that someone even.... dares to. Like, it sounds so bad that I would just be ashamed to even have anything like that in public. And honestly, most often this is the case with what these people do - it's just not up to any standards. And when you aren't aware of any standards, I guess that's a natural consequence.
Let me give you an alternative on how to be a better producer: learn how to use 6/8. Except, ironically, none of these production channels will teach you something so basic... and I would hazard that it's probably because they don't know themselves either. I really have hard time understanding how someone could make over hundred videos on R&B and never talk about 6/8. Really?
To be clear though - not all of the channels are culpable. Just majority. And out of that minority that isn't, I still tend to dislike them each for their own reasons. There seems to be a correlation where, the less a music production channel talks about actual production, the more enjoyable it is.
Anyway, thanks for coming to my TED talk.

2023.06.07 03:32 Courier-10 PVE Centric Hunter Exotic Armor Feedback
Hello all, I'm a Hunter main who's very big on Buildcrafting. I'd like to give feedback over every Hunter exotic with a PvE lens, positive and negative.
I will offer no solutions or potential fixes to problems I perceive, as this is not my job and such discussion is useless to Bungie anyway.
I should state my primary goal in buildcrafting is to create a consistent gameplay loop I find enjoyable. I want my builds to work in most pve content casually, with the only exceptions being grandmasters, master dungeons and master raids, and legendary / master lost sectors. I still make builds for this pinnacle content, but they have entirely different goals.
Note that I will inevitably say something any given reader will heavily disagree with. Please refrain from negative comments insulting my taste, I would like this to be a positive discussion with valid feedback, feedback viable enough for bungie to contemplate if they so choose to do so.
I will not discuss the following exotics as they have offer absolutely zero applications in PvE: - Knucklehead Radar - Stompees
I will also not consider Aeon Swift, as this is not a Hunter exotic.
Alright, let's get started. There will be no order to this.
- Mask of Bakris The tele-dodge itself does not seem to amount to anything significant in PVE, so the damage boost is the focus. While the damage boost is nice, I find that buff disabling dodge ability generation restricts building around the exotic heavily - significantly reduced effectiveness of means of rapidly recharging dodge, and decreased effectiveness of other parts of the kit, like Shuriken uptime. I do not like using this exotic in PVE because it feels very restrictive if not clunky.
- Renewal Grasps I find this exotic's two effects to be at odds with each other. If I want to build into its potent damage resistance and enemy weakening, I find that the Duskfield itself makes such a job almost pointless in most content, as frozen enemies do not attack you. If I want to build into the increased Duskfield and Duskfield crystal radius, I find the exotic's cooldown penalty to be restrictive, I cannot justify using this exotic over none when I simply want to throw duskfields at enemies. I used to love this exotic, but I feel like it has an identity crisis and I do not like using it as of now.
- Foetracer I appreciate this exotic's damage boosting property, it is potent especially in raids and dungeons. However outside of damaging boss combatants, this exotic does nothing in PvE. As non boss-dps is most content, I consider this exotic poor as it lacks oomph or any synergy with anything else I can buildcraft around.
- Celestial Nighthawk Good fashion aside, this is a super-only exotic designed to increase damage output against boss combatants. Its secondary partial refund mechanic feels far too insignificant if not unreliable to build around, so this exotic does nothing in most pve content. I find its damage also lacking, I cannot justify using this exotic.
- Sixth Coyote I adore this exotic, it is simple yet it enables so many different things. I find even more mileage out of it with the new class item mod allowing my dodge to pick up orbs.
- Sealed Ahamkara Grasps Even with its recent buffs, I still heavily dislike this exotic. With a 7 second cooldown, the Melee reload mechanic feels inefficient, as Impetus on Stasis and Ascent on Strand do the same thing but more often. The new increased speed on melee hit mechanic feels extremely clunky, I find constantly weaving in and out of Stompees' tier speed to be extremely disorienting, as the buff only lasts 4 seconds. Because of that aspect, I would never use this exotic, even over nothing.
- Speedloader Slacks I appreciate this exotic's monstrous reload speed multiplier, it enables buildcrafting around one-shot reload weapons. I also appreciate its support capabilites, which is something very rare for Hunters. Even with these in mind, I do not like using this exotic as it feels very bland, it does not enable a new gameplay loop - it just makes base gunplay better.
- Blight Ranger I cannot offer any new feedback over this item, countless others have done a better job. This exotic needs serious help.
- Raiden Flux While certainly potent and competitive against Star Eater Scales for scaling Arc Staff, I dislike this exotic for several reasons. First being that it keeps you in your super for much longer and you can't really opt out of it, this is a negative to me because I can't utilize buildcrafting aspects while in a roaming super. Second being that it is a super only exotic that offers no way to back into your super faster, leading me to feel that this exotic overall has very little oomph to it.
- Gwinsin Vest Despite me having multiple godrolls of this thing stuck in my vault, I almost forgot about putting this here. This Super only Exotic does not offer a Super refund or increased Super damage, it instead increases Spectral Blades' uptime. It is extremely difficult to justify using a Super only exotic in the age of Star Eater Scales, but this takes the cake as the one I am least willing to use any given scenario. Frankly, I don't know how to give feedback for this.
- Raiju's Harness Excellent fashion aside, I do not think this exotic's recent buffs did enough to make me consider unironically using this exotic for function. The blind radius feels far too small to actually leverage, and doesn't do damage. The weapon damage buff period feels too short. If the build goal is to use the super to cancel the super to maximize uptime on its Arc damage buff, I think I would rather just use Bakris on stasis which would have more uptime.
- Shinobu's Vow On paper, this exotic appears godlike. A second grenade charge and a potent grenade refund function is very high value. Unfortunately, Skip Grenades feel awful to use. To be more specific, at base they feel like the single least lethal grenade in the game bar a healing nade. Using Arc 3.0's Jolting nades fragment decreases this exotic's performance, as the jolt kills targets before your Skip Grenade seekers can damage them to recharge your grenade. Even with the current seasonal artifact, I cannot justify using this exotic over just picking any other grenade on arc without an exotic.
- Lucky Raspberry This exotic is difficult to use in multi-player content, as teammates can and will defeat your targets before your ArcBolt can complete its chain to loop itself. This issue is made worse further when including the Jolting nades fragment, causing Jolt to kill targets before the Arcbolt can connect to them. I also personally just do not like the heavy rng associated with this exotic by design, preferring reliable and consistent gameplay loops over rare moments of extreme power - yet this exotic offers neither.
- Liars Handshake A powerful, reliable exotic I used to use all of the time. Its damage buff is potent, and its healing is very nice to have. Though this exotic feels like it has poor synergy with Arc 3.0 aspects, lethal current procs from the first melee hit and often clears everything in front of you, meaning there's nothing to use Cross Counter on. It's been a while since I tried, but I don't believe this Exotic even procs off Tempest Strike hits. These components of anti synergy make the Exotic feel clunky in the modern sandbox, making me not want to use it.
- Dragons Shadow Similar to my thoughts on Speedloader Slacks, I appreciate the potent boosts this exotic provides, though I do not believe it offers buildcrafting potential - it just makes base gunplay better.
- Facade (I will not dare even attempt to spell the first part) The Anti Flinch component is mostly irrelevant in PvE, so value is instead drawn from the reliable if not indefinite Woven Mail uptime. While it is a potent effect, it feels difficult to justify using my exotic slot over the Woven Mail on Orb pickup fragment, even though this fragment has limited uptime. I believe this Exotic doesn't offer enough oomph in PvE and is difficult to build craft around dedicatedly.
- Assassins Cowl I find this exotic very awkward to build craft around, as it demands high uptime on powered melee abilities and yet does nothing to grant melee energy. Bar just using the standard fare Arc Hunter loop to tackle endgame content, I believe that this exotic demands too much buildcrafting investment to justify its purely defensive boosts. I thus do not use this exotic, outside of the Arc Hunter loop.
- Kehpris Sting This exotic offers a 50% increased damage for the lowest damage melee ability in the game. This buff amounts to it still doing less damage than just punching enemies normally. The increased melee recharge speed function seems to only have PvP application, and Stylish Executioner offers more than enough wall hacks for any PvE needs. I cannot justify equipping this exotic, neither can I justify building around offensive Smoke Bombs in general.
- Graviton Forfeit Oh, do I miss this exotic's prime within the 30th anniversary sandbox. This exotic offers indefinite invisibility, which doesn't feel at all needed in most content, as Void Hunter aspects give plenty of on demand and after-combat invisibility uptime. The reload and recovery boosts offered by this exotic feel difficult to leverage practically. I miss old Bottom Tree Nightstalker's grenade recharge and heart of the pack functions, which complimented this exotic perfectly. Without these things, I cannot justify using this exotic.
- Frostees This is Hunter's only neutral game ability recharge based exotic. While its effects are potent, they only activate while sprinting, and you cannot actively damage targets while sprinting. I find that this makes building around this exotic frustrating. While it is always a good idea to wear this exotic, I tend to avoid it because trying to leverage it frustrates me, I really wish we had another neutral game exotic with ability recharge applications.
- Shards of Galanor I find this exotic to lack oomph, as it only serves to refund your Blade Barrage, but does not boost its lethality, making buildcrafting around this exotic to not amount to much, though it can be done.
- Orphious Rigs This exotic has two distinct effects that do not overlap. With Quiver, this exotic increases your Super's damage output but offers nothing to get your super back faster. With Deadfall(?), this exotic grants the super a potent ability refund and super refund function, but only when using your super against multiple targets at once. This conflicts with how most void Hunters use the super, to debuff singular bosses. I find both functions of this exotic to lack oomph and can't justify using it.
- Wormhusk Crown I appreciate this exotic's simplicity, though I wish it had more oomph to it in PvE. This is one of very few sources of Healing available to Hunter, but I don't think it provides enough of it to build craft around.
- Lucky Pants I greatly appreciate this exotic single handedly enabling an entire archetype of build, though I find it very clunky. To elaborate, when I use this exotic I find myself worrying over accidentally proccing the lucky pants effect when I am not ready for it, and this heavily restricts my gameplay, not allowing me to use my primary weapon like a primary. This heavily restricts build crafting, blasphemously forcing me to run another primary, or to use a special or heavy capable of running reliable general ad clear. I often find myself wishing I could choose to opt out of proccing the exotic's damage boosting effect in any given moment. This clunkiness fully cancels out the QoL provided by the massively increased Handcannon stats in my eyes. I do not use this exotic often because of these things.
- Bombardiers (Bombies) This exotic has 5 different functions based off of subclass. Common to all of them is that I find this exotic clunky to use offensively, as the bomb does not travel horizontally at all, and its radius feels lacking. Void Bombies doesn't count as a real Suppression effect in PvE and I wish they did. Arc Bombies doesn't count as a real Blind effect in PvE and I wish they did. Solar Bombies is nice on paper for scorch stacking ignition based buildcrafting, but this build greatly suffers from my first point. Stasis Bombies... doesn't do anything. I would like it to! Strand Bombies feels redundant, Strand Hunter already has a ton of access to Sever, and I find myself wishing Bombies exploded the hologram from the new aspect, which would allow it to bypass my general use issue with this exotic.
- Gemini Jesters While interesting, I find this exotic lacks oomph. The blind has no arc synergy, and I wish it had a longer duration. It also feels bizzarely inconsistent as to what enemies the blind even works on? I do not use this exotic for these reasons.
- Oathkeepers. I actually used this in PvE before the recent buffs, valuing the small draw time boost it has. I find its new mechanic frustrating to buildcraft around, as it works with absolutely zero special effects like dragonfly and exotic perks. Much of the community seems to have this sentiment, too. If I use this exotic, it will be for the draw time boost and not the damage boosting function.
- Mechaneers Tricksleeves This exotic incentivizes a unique low-life type of build to get the most out of it. Unfortunately this type of thing is very poorly supported, requiring awkward pauses to deal damage to yourself. This type of build also has the fault of not working in most teamplay, as Solar Warlocks will heal you without your consent. I wish its damage buff had a different or alternative condition to activate.
- Star Eater Scales. An excellent exotic, offering a unique gameplay loop that yields a satisfying and potent payout. I have no complaints, though I don't use this exotic often because I find it overkill for most content.
- Gyrfalcons Hauberk The sole savior of Nightstalker 3.0 in my eyes. This exotic is extremely well rounded, unique, and offers a ton of build crafting options. I don't use it much these days though, as I am trying more ability focused builds of which this exotic does not assist me in.
- Triton Vice My feedback mirrors the common community sentiment over this exotic: it's trying to do two conflicting things, and neither job is done well enough to justify using a glaive on Hunter. To add on to that, I find it hard to justify glaives on hunter in general since many of our subclass kits revolve around using thrown melee abilities, and glaives offer no synergy with almost all parts of these kits. I think this is my primary complaint, I wish there were more synergy between glaives and subclasses at base. I do not see myself ever using this exotic without major sandbox changes.
- Omnioculus Much like my Graviton Forfiet feedback, this exotic's prime is in the past. Though still useful in difficult endgame multiplayer content, this exotic has lacked oomph in most content ever since Void 3.0
- Radiant Dance Machines I adore the recent rework to this exotic, its fantastic in general play. My only direct complaint is that it's kinda hard to tell when the buff is ready to proc, and when gamblers dodge can meet its nearby enemy proc condition. Any other complaints I could come up with are more so directed at weaknesses associated with Hunter Subclasses.
General Solar Hunter Grenade and Melee Exotic Feedback: Solar 3.0's Gunslinger revamp has a number of elements I find problems with, and these problems directly affect it's non-super exotics. - Solar Hunter's looping ability is extremely reliant on ability kills. If a thrown melee fails to kill, a dodge is required to retry. If this fails for any reason, the loop is over. This feels sudden halt in momentum feels really bad to me, it makes me generally avoid Solar Hunter. - Explosive Throwing Knives are often shot out of the air by enemies, severely hurting you and turning off your loop. - Weighted Throwing Knife seems to have been bugged for a very long time now, it very often fails to refund itself with the radiant loop when it ignites an enemy, heavily restricting if not making building crafting impossible for it. - The Radiant knife loop will often fail if it procs too quickly. Needing to actively think about pacing myself makes it hard to enjoy the radiant knife loop. - The current Restoration bug makes Solar Hunter survivability far poorer than it would be without, forcing me to play Solar Hunter far more conservative than I'd like, which causes my loops to fail more often, and failed loops to result in my death more often.
- Caliban's Hand Though powerful in general play, this Exotic often feels like its overkill. Ignition explosions will detonate mid-air knives, forcing me to pace my thrown knives further, and causing the loop to fail even more often. This volatility is why I haven't really used the exotic since the tailend of Haunted.
- Athry's Embrace This felt balanced in the sandboxes before Solar 3.0, but its damage output feels like its been powercrept since. The Weighted Throwing Knife bug, and the lack of 3.0 synergy makes this exotic tough to justify using. The recent buff for +30 strength while the buff is active seems to be primarily pvp focused change.
- Young Ahamkara's Spine (YAS) This exotic enables its own loop, one remarkably similar to the radiant knife loop. While I appreciate that component of it, I have two issues with this exotic. One: The loop is prone to fail, Ignitions and other related Solar Explosions can detonate the Tripmine mid-flight, and actually sticking enemies with Tripmines in pve is surprisingly difficult to do reliably. In either case the loop fails, and when the backup throwing knives fail for whatever reason, the loop ends and the build is disabled for quite a while. Two: I feel like Tripmines don't deal much damage in PvE, most of a YAS build's comes from ignitions. I know many people are avid fans of this exotic, but I am not.
- Ophidia Spathe This is my go to Solar Exotic, though I wish its hidden regenerate two knives at once ability were more consistent, in most cases the Radiant Loop only provides one knife charge and no part of this function is explained on the exotic. I enjoy pairing this exotic with the newly buffed Skyburner's oath and fan knives, letting me easily Ignite enemies without suffering from much of the other Gunslinger weaknesses.

2023.06.07 03:32 RN_MD Going per diem and it’s not a break!
I’m a nurse and I’m going per diem soon because it is incredibly challenging to find adequate childcare, getting leave is a nightmare, and holidays are even worse to find coverage, and things are slipping through the cracks at home because I have no ‘village’ to support me.
Whenever I tell anyone I’m going per diem it seems to imply I’m going to be able to travel, or relax, or work less hard and it’s frustrating because if anything going per diem stunts my career and I’m certainly not getting any kind of relief from burn out. I won’t be climbing the promotion ladder or getting as many clinical hours or being out in leadership roles etc. and on top of all that I will be having less income and no perks like PTO.
As a working mother I just do not understand how even other working mothers see being an active parent on my ‘days off’ are in any way a break. I’m more busy than ever - and now it’s just uncompensated and under valued. All the endless tasks I complete nobody notices the work I do to raise children or maintain a household until I don’t do it and it becomes a problem!
Thank you for anyone else who can sympathize or empathize with my complaining! I realize not everyone is in a position to even have the option of going per diem but please don’t ever assume it will be less work!

2023.06.07 03:31 xenoscumyomom What's the most you've ever been creeped out?
What's the book/scene that's gotten under your skin the most and left you with the heebie-jeebies?
Mine is Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer. The scene years later that still comes to mind is when she goes down into "the tower" and the walls have writing on it that's alive and the deeper she goes the creepier it gets, until she makes it to the bottom where the light keeper is. That book had so many scenes that weren't jump scary but just got under my skin and creeped me out and took awhile to leave me. I had trouble sleeping after reading each night. Also I was on holiday when I read part of it and in the middle of the night there was an earth quake and I've never felt one before and I straight freaked out because I was already so creeped out from the book and then come out of a full sleep to the world shaking I panicked.
What's yours?

A brief background about me is I am a computer science major and have a CS job lined up. I'm not saying this to brag or whatever but getting a job isn't as hard as it seems. Trust me. I wish I had gone back in time as a freshman and focused more on socializing and building memories than stressing about internships & what not. There should be a balance between having fun and studying. I just did not have that balance because I dealt with personal struggles that made socializing difficult. Instead, I found joy in being productive and being career oriented since that was an outlet to distract me from my loneliness and mental health issues that I have struggled as a result of personal struggles. Now that I am graduating, I am grateful that I worked hard to have a lucrative career ahead of me, but what bothers me is I don't have any fond college memories to carry on with me. I've had acquantiances that I would hang out infrequently and talk to when we see each other but not any close friendships. I also never had a relationship. I feel like a lot of college students nowadays who were like me during their early college years stress too much about finding a full-time job after college. It feels like you need to to xyz now or otherwise you won't get the career you want. Honestly, don't stress about it. As long as you have a game plan on what you need to do to get there, you will eventually get there. It may take some time but you will get there. Remember this, you will always have the opportunity to pursue the career that you want but you don't have that same opportunity to repeat your undergrad college experience ever again. Your time in college is very valuable. You don't want to be like me as a senior and wish you had done more to make the most out of your college experience. Whatever you are struggling with addiction or mental health issue, seek help immediately because the sooner you get help the better off you will be. Peace.

2023.06.07 03:31 tables_04 The people who were supposed to be my freshman year roommates ruined my graduation.
I’m tired, I have a physical disability. But that’s all these people knew about me. I use a wheelchair sometimes, so we needed an accessible room. Which didn’t fly with them. What they don’t understand is that according to medical statistics I should be dead.
I don’t even want to go to that college anymore, and that hurts my heart because I was set on that school from the time I was a freshman in high school. I am so tired of asking for the bare minimum and not even getting that.
But they ruined my graduation day by telling me they didn’t want to move rooms, when none of us have ever even seen that room. They hate people with disabilities. Let me tell you, it’s hard having to deal with this stuff, and it certainly doesn’t get easier.
But I think the best option for me right now is to start at community college, and take time for ME.

2023.06.07 03:31 ClipIn r/Festool will be joining the blackout June 12th to protest Reddit's API changes and its killing of 3rd Party Apps such as Apollo
| https://preview.redd.it/7lkohb7x0i4b1.png?width=1116&format=png&auto=webp&s=524850347c55f5c3f258e01799215e18e5723449 What's going on? >> TL;DR See this graphic A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users. On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader. On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. What can you do? - Complain. Message the mods of /reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
- Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at /ModCoord - but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.
- Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
- Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.
Please visit ModCoord, read this letter, and then sign on with your subreddit name and/or username if you support this initiative. Please consider crossposting this to your community or any space you think should be made aware of it. These changes will affect all users. submitted by ClipIn to festool [link] [comments] |

2023.06.07 03:31 Pick-Outside Is a $5000 copay normal for a colonoscopy?
So I am 25 and was set to have a colonoscopy under my own health insurance for the first time next week. The center it's being done at just called to let me know it would be a $5000 copay which seemed weird to me because I am fortunate enough that my job provides phenomenal health insurance. This was set to be my 8th(?) colonoscopy and my mom said she's never paid more than about $2000 and sometimes as low as $900 with a few different insurance policies and a couple different doctors.
I do live in a smaller city now with only one GI office in a 100 mile radius, while all my other colonoscopies were done back home in a major U.S. city so I was thinking that might account for some difference but I just find it hard to justify that large of a difference. This is the first major health expense I'm taking care of entirely on my own and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed, so I'm trying to get prepared for when I call my insurance and Dr.'s office tomorrow.

2023.06.07 03:31 orangebutterbaby Aid Access and Abortionrx review
Reviewing two different sources for abortion pills, hopefully helping someone who might be in a similar situation that I was in. I found it really hard to find other stories like mine online.
I had found out I was pregnant on 5/05/23, my last period was 4/05/23. I had ordered abortion pills from aid access several months prior as an emergency solution in case this were to ever happen (as I live in a state where abortion laws have limited time frames for aid). Shipping took a few weeks but it wasn't a concern for me at that time as I was not currently pregnant. Cost was very cheap in comparison to other sources, I think about $120 for the pills and shipping.
I took the pills and bled only a little bit after several hours, no large clots passed and I had bleeding that was similar to my regular period for about 4-5 days (started 24 hours after misoprostol). Bleeding stopped. I began to worry if the pills didn't work due to the lack of heavy bleeding but I was also not so sure if it was because I was so early on (exactly 4 weeks) and there just wasn't that much in my uterus to begin with.
Some pregnancy symptoms went away for a bit but I went and got an ultrasound after about 2 weeks. Nausea came back and my breasts still remained slightly sore.I was still pregnant via the ultrasound and blood tests. I immediately ordered pills from Abortionrx.com. The cost of the pills was a lot more expensive (I bought two sets) plus the 2 day shipping fee (It ended up being $339 total).
Now at a little over 7 weeks pregnant, I redid the mifepristone and misoprostol process. So much more bleeding this time and within the first couple hours, I had passed the embryo. It was so small, and I didn't notice it at first, it was literally the size of my thumb nail, but I could see its little head and body and arms and legs. I broke down crying, it really did look like a little baby was developing. I kept passing what looked like the placenta and more blood cots/tissue. Heavy bleeding stopped after about 2-3 days and cramping eased up as well. Today is 10 days post the second round of abortion pills, I went to get an ultrasound again and confirmed the pregnancy did indeed pass (just still bleeding like a regular period, it takes a few weeks to expel all the tissue/blood.)
It turns out that I had actually taken the pills too early (or at least that's what the doctors think what went wrong, which doesn't really make sense to be, but who knows, nothing is ever 100% effective) I tried to be proactive but it ended up backfiring. I didn't want it to develop into an embryo but it did despite my efforts. I'm not sure if anyone else has had success with aid access but from my experience, aid accesses' pills did not work for me, but abortionrx's did.
So in case anyone was in my situation and is worried, definitely get an ultrasound asap no matter how sure you are, and just be prepared for any news. Have a back up back up BACK UP plan if need be. You will get through this, I promise. <3

2023.06.07 03:30 colesanders19 My Scalable Home Dashboard, Thoughts?
Dashboard for mobile, tablet, desktop, and kiosk with scaling. I kept it simple since this is the dashboard everyone will use. However, the yams was not all that simple :/
Dark/light mode also works
Scaling not shown since videos aren’t supported in gallery mode (tablet/desktop photos not shown) both are similar, desktop has added sidebar instead of dock for navigation, and music layout is altered similar to a horizontal iPad.

2023.06.07 03:30 Afraid-Foundation109 Muzzle flash question
Is there a way or setting I can use to tone down the muzzle flash on some weapons, in PVE it’s not a big deal but in pvp I find myself glued to kinetic primaries only or specific energy ones with very low muzzle flash. For example, the new centrifuse or the dawning’s stay frosty just have way too much flash from every shot/pulse it’s hard to stay on target. Whereas some guns like autumn wind have like none of that.

2023.06.07 03:30 VineViridian When therapy can help our demographic, and complex trauma as "Emotional Leprosy": some musings...
TL; DR: Therapy can be safe for those with severe trauma, minority status, low income, extreme lack of support if we are able to trust our gut & stay with any therapist no more than 2 years at the extreme longest. Trauma responses carry a stigma akin to leprosy, so those wounds must only be shown among our own "colonies".
I have come to identify complex trauma as "emotional leprosy".
This is because there is a hostility and stigma towards trauma responses, particularly the freeze, fight, and anxious attachment. I see it among therapists when psych students share what they discuss in their private subs. I see it in how people in this and other trauma subs ard treated by therapists and other people.
It turns out, we are an annoying bunch, as far as both therapists and the general public are concerned. especially anyone whose trauma responses get labeled as borderline personality disorder. And as Daniel Mackler on YouTube states, "when a therapist diagnoses a client with BPD, it means that they dislike the client."
I'm nerding out on leprosy education, here. Later, I will compare it to CPTSD. Please skip this section if you don't care to read
Leprosy has an stigma reaching back to ancient times. It is a tropical disease, caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae. It is spread through droplets in the air from sneezing or coughing.
It mainly affects the skin, eyes, nose and peripheral nerves. Secondarily, joints and bones. The deformities it causes are horrific and debilitating, yet leprosy is treatable with a cocktail of 2 or 3 antibiotics that must be taken for 1 to 2 years. Leprosy is not easy to catch, there must be close quarter contact for months or years with the infected person.
end of nerding out section
I invite you to go check out images of advanced leprosy. I think they are perfect physical representations of the emotional and social wounds that many of us carry. I'm glad that leprosy in the world isn't common and is completely treatable. I wish I could say the same for trauma.
So, why is therapy safer if financially disadvantaged, traumatized people without a support system stay for a limited time with any one therapist? Because there is a bottleneck effect in recovery when one is experiencing constant external stressors of systemic oppression and is alone to fend for themselves physically, mentally and emotionally. Most people who become therapists never contend with that.
People I've met who, I suspect, had some similar childhood traumas as myself are light years ahead of me in recovery, financial security and social support, when they have been fortunate enough to find people who believe in them and love them. Those of us who have never had this have to supply everything to ourselves, and that greatly slows our recovery.
We become objects of contempt to therapists eventually. The emotional leprosy is an annoying drain on societally functioning people. Our wounds are unsightly, we become abhorrent if they are made visible.
Last year, I believed that my past therapist was exceptionally awful. I still know them to be terrible, but I also now know how common their response to emotional leprosy really is. If I would have only stayed a year instead of becoming addicted to their validation, received the CPTSD diagnosis, & left before they saw my ugly wounds and expressed their disgust, I would have been fine. But I didn't know any better. I didn't know how CMH is a puppy mill for baby therapists. I didn't know that "trauma informed" is a marketing buzzword.
Recovery from leprosy can take a couple of years. Recovery from deep trauma without a loving support system and financial security takes much longer. We don't need to be ashamed of our wounds, but it's best for our wellbeing to keep them hidden from the haters.
