Hello,
FTM, 37 wks and 3 days, and I went into L&D last night because I was having some light bleeding I wanted checked out. The midwife on duty did a quick cervical check and said I was about 2 cm dilated and 30% effaced. I was having some contractions according to the monitoring devices but it definitely wasn’t painful at all. In the end I got sent home but,… my question is… how long after you started being dilated did it take for labor to start?

My boyfriend (26m) and I (24f) took in his sister (19f) when she turned 16. He's been out of contact with his parents for a few years due to abuse inflicted on both of them growing up. She was more comfortable and happier with us, so she asked to stay with us. No one had any objections, they never tried to get her back, and they even fudged court documents saying she was emancipated when she wasn't. They made it very clear they were done. This has been a much healthier environment for her overall, and I KNOW she needed this for her mental and phsyical health, but I feel often like we royally fucked up as guardians.
We immediately got her in with a therapist and psychiatrist, got her a primary doc since she hadn't seen a doctor since she was a baby, got her on birth control, and established just generally decent healthcare for her. It feels like that's where our good guardianship points ended.
Not long after she moved in, my boyfriend got depressed, and most of the guardianship was delegated to me. I have pretty bad ADHD and didn't learn how to really cope with the worst of it until this year. Boyfriend and sister also have ADHD, so setting schedules and habits has been hell. I spent so much time on research and asking for advice, but when it comes to actually doing the parenting, I don't feel like I'm doing anything right. I don't even feel like I have the authority to impose rules and restrictions. I'm only, like, 13. I'm afraid she would have been happier with literally anyone else. She now spends most days at her boyfriend's parents' house, and that feels a lot like confirmation that I've given her an unhappy home. When I was 19, I also stayed at my boyfriend's house almost 24/7, so I know it's likely not even about me, but combined with everything else, it feels like maybe they're just better parents than I am. I mean, obviously, they raised 3 kids into almost adulthood, and I've only been at this a couple years. I'm just admittedly jealous that she prefers to be at their house.
Her relationship with my boyfriend has been strained since she moved in too, and I cannot get the two of them to communicate what's wrong. Literally, for 2 years, neither of them will budge on this. No amount of family meetings, gentle pressure, being the middle man, whatever, has helped get these 2 to communicate, and I feel like we really messed up not doing, like, weekly family meetings or something when she moved in. We didn't succeed at setting traditions and weekly things like recommended when she was younger, we didn't set good boundaries in some areas, we still don't have her driving because -insert plethora of excuses here-, we didn't do a good job setting expectations. We just failed at everything, it feels like. Mostly, I failed at everything because most of it all fell on me.
I have a million excuses for why I fell short in all these places, but at the end of the day, I think it's because I'm just selfish and lazy and couldn't put that aside for her sake. I feel like we did okay at first, but as she got older, it got harder and harder to impose rules and boundaries, and I got more and more burnt out. I was JUST a teenager. When this all started, I was 21. Only 2 years older than she is now. I thought between my teenager knowledge, my mom's regular advice, my therapist, and tons of books and articles, we'd at least do an okay job and grow up together, but it feels like all we did was give her a roof over her head and some food and call it a day. She deserved a lot more from us.
I suppose after typing all this out, she still came out happier and healthier than she would have, and I know she loves us and is comfortable coming to us when she needs something, especially me. I just want to do better for her, and I'm scared it's too late now that she's 19 and has other parental figures that leave me in the dust. I also just don't know if I have the ability to do better. I don't know how to get her to follow a schedule, do chores, take care of her pet, etc. A lot of the things I need to impose on her, I'm just now learning how to do myself.
Literally, any advice is so very welcome and appreciated. I am still so unprepared to be her guardian, and I really want to do better and give her a happy home. Thank you for the space to vent.

I have used the Tuya Smart app, Google wifi router, and Google home for my home automation for years now with no problem adding devices.
I have not had to add a new device in about a year or so, but today I went to add a new outlet switch. Tuya is staying I need to switch my network over to a 2.4 band one to continue the process. The Google router runs both 5 and 2.4 simultaneously and will connect the device to whichever band it needs automatically.
There is no way to get past this in the Tuya app (it asks me to switch networks with no bypass option). Anyone else have this problem and now what to do about it? Thank you!

So… it’s been twelve years since we last saw each other in person. After that, we’ve videocalled a few times.
I left my home country ten years ago. My professional life there has stagnated for obvious reasons. Returning means restarting. I work in a creative industry and I’m afraid to mess up. Neither of us is rich, so , I wonder what will become of me if things end up not working out.
It is harder for him to come. Not only is his situation different. The work he is doing is more stable (I’m a freelance screenwriter) and he has gradually built a small business that seems to be experiencing growth. I also miss my home country, but creative industry is hard enough, networking takes a long time.
Anyway. My mind is no longer here. I keep thinking about going to him. And changing the course of my life. Sometimes it feels like daydreams, sometimes it feels like actual plans. I’ve decided to go there in August. I’m really nervous.
I guess this is just some venting. I hope you are all experiencing a smooth ride in this journey.

I only started buying guns a few years ago, and got what I though were the essentials: An AR-15, a subcompact CCW, a home defense shotgun and a full size double stack 9mm striker fire range toy. I also bought an oveunder shotgun for this trap shooting club I joined. Now it's time to expand, I think I'll have both of these in my collection eventually, but I need to save up to buy guns. Help me decide which one I should get first. I would to eventually have a double stack 1911, but I'm leaning toward a classic 70/80 series 1911 or a S&W 686 in 4-6" long.

Hi everyone, I've listed my house for sale privately and I'm willing to discuss offering a buyer's commission to agents that may have clients who want to visit the house. However, I have a question about how that works before an offer is actually submitted.
Does the agent send you a contract beforehand to sign that outlines the agreement to the buyer's commission? A couple agents have messaged me already, but they aren't willing to bring clients until I commit to their fee. That's fine, but am I just supposed to agree verbally until they actually submit an offer to purchase document with the fee details included? They never really gave me the details about it in their message.
I'm aware that if they will be writing up the purchase of sale, then I should read anything they provide carefully and consult my lawyer. I want to make sure any contract and commission payment is null and void if the buyer backs out or the deal falls through for example. Thanks!
