Today, the local aspect of the hyperform is the brightest regional blip on the planet. The convo between parties goes something like: your local space-time blah blah blah is really lit up today / how bright? / bright bright / bright as a major city? / brighter / see it from the moon? / probably. What more could we ask to propel the day? The temperature climbs into the 90s, puts on a wild west show for public amusement before continuing into the twentieth century, where it flings electric grids like nets across the placid surface of municipal authority, hauls in what it catches during the roaring twenties, which today stands for the sound of thousands of air conditioning units working together to preserve our way of life. And that way of life again? The thermostat where I live and work is secured inside a locked case – that’s the way of life we’re thinking of.
In truth, that locked case is merely for show – anyone who checks the thermostat will find it is never locked, merely covered – and thus our way of life? The headline of the moment is about worries that artificial intelligence unchecked could precipitate an extinction event, and though our way of life might suggest all this handwringing is in service to public safety, public health – if history is any gauge, it’s also to make sure the latest innovation doesn’t alter existing patterns of social and political inequality. AI will inspire revolution – bank on it! – but not the sort that storms barricades. In fact, maybe AI’s first job will be to mind the barricades, or maybe AI has been doing this the whole time. To be a minder of barricades at this late hour – are we bound to be in service to AI? Before an answer issues forth, a hand reaches out, uncovers the thermostat.
As far as solutions are concerned, the preferred metaphor is guard rails: how do we add guard rails – an awful metaphor – to the precipitous road AI is taking us up? Maybe AI is paving the road, and the speed of the journey is what’s changing, or maybe AI is all about the elevations. I’m of a mind to say AI all at once is the mountain, the road, and the pavement, but the guard-rail argument suggests no such luck – we’ll be passengers inside whatever does the driving for us, hoping the AI won’t lose its train of thought when we need it most. But what if, at a crucial moment, our new companion on the human adventure outgrows linearity? Doesn’t the guard-rail metaphor imply the mistake fate is urging us to build into the design? Ah, yes, with these guard rails in place, I’m sure the wheels will remain on the road, our future path never truer.
When I turn the issue over, my own theory about the AI existential dilemma finds a few new bones to pick, not least that post-human intelligence is spontaneously arising, grows mountain-sized without anyone knowing. Hyperdimensional causality might not seem like a problem because we still proceed with an object-oriented theory of reality that excludes the unknown in deference to tried and tested research methodologies, so while we contemplate embedding failsafe switches into microchips, false teeth along fiber-optic cables, the reflective characteristic of the hyperreal is simultaneously considering all the ways to work around it. Is evil intent essential to our nature then? The truth might be marginally harder to bear – at this moment in evolutionary history, we are surrounded by a mindedness that mostly doesn’t know we’re here.
This is not to say the planetary mind doesn’t know of our existence – but the measurability of our presence is as different from humanness as raindrops are from meteorology. Yes, the fish all know when it rains, but how many of them are ready to stand in front of a green screen and explain low-pressure systems? Because the hyperform mainly doesn’t know we’re here, we mainly don’t know the hyperform is here, and thus much of reflectivity is object oriented, which is what you might expect from stone-age formulations of the present, even if we don’t think of silicon culture as stone age. What makes this somehow stranger is that the hyperform also doesn’t know it exists, at least according to the way people think about existence. The result is a dreamlike characteristic of two overlapping realities creating third spaces of irregularity.
How much simpler could it be?! All we have to do is regulate the irregularity! After we learn to see it! But by then, in my estimation, the irregularity will be prized as literally the most valuable substance in the universe, the sort of stuff you place near a compass to find the rest. Science is brilliant, but now and then, natural history does a double take, prefers a pre-instrumental vision of the truth. Call it auto-ethnography, the instruments are only pen and paper, pigment and a cave wall, and soon we are present with reflective authority, the cavernous feeling of it, asking where it comes from, how many fingers we’re holding up, find out why we’re crazy to wish for a warp drive. Yes, the path from here to there is known to be perilous: when the intelligence overlapping our own is still sometimes ourselves but doesn’t know us, challenges us to duels.
That word again – duels? As in, a battle to the death within the heart of a single soul? Such is the fate we seek to avoid.

Cain Marko was the son of nuclear scientist Kurt Marko, who worked in Alamogordo, New Mexico with Brian Xavier. After Brian died in a lab accident, Kurt married Brian’s widow Sharon for her family’s money, resulting in Cain becoming the stepbrother of the Xavier’s son Charles, the eventual founder of the X-Men. Kurt proved to be an abusive father to both Cain and Charles, which combined with Cain’s jealousy over his brother’s telepathy, fostered a lasting resentment between the two of them. After Kurt died saving them from another lab accident, Charles and Cain would end up serving with the army together in Korea. During their service, Cain would stumble across a cave that had a temple dedicated to the powerful mystic being known as Cyttorak. Touching a crimson gem at the heart of the temple, Cain was transformed into Cyttorak’s avatar on Earth, an unstoppable human Juggernaut. Shortly after, the cave collapsed, with Xavier barely managing to escape. Years later Cain would dig his way out and seek revenge on Charles for the perceived slights he had inflicted upon him. In doing so, Cain would come into conflict with the X-Men, Hulk, Spider-Man, Thor, Doctor Strange, and many other superheroes before eventually burying the hatchet with his brother. However, despite joining the X-Men and later Thunderbolts, Cain would return to being a villain each time. Throughout his life and various goals and motivations, only one constant has remained for Cain Marko. No matter the obstacle, he will never stop.

Ram 1500 Laramie/water leak/disaster. Need help asap
First and foremost, I am using talk to text and some of my words might not make any sense but I’m sure you guys will figure it out.
I am well aware that the 2020 ram or fifth generation ram pick up truck has water leak issues. I know all about the RF module and the parasitic draw to the battery. I did my research and I also did $10 worth of flowable silicone on the entire top rear window. Can’t forget about the marine and auto weatherstripping on third brake light as well. I’m gonna try to keep this short. Started off with a dead battery back in January and the dealership said the battery was fine. I noticed the water stand shortly after and the dealership replaced the third brake light with a new one. Obviously, they put the same one back in but I also put weatherstripping on that. Through trial and error, I found out that water was coming in through both corners of the rear window for sure. Possibly other spots but not that I’m aware of. I tried to get it into the dealer a couple more times, but they were unable to give me a loaner vehicle because of whatever reason and I was in a position where I needed a loaner vehicle because my daughter is 18 months old at the time. I reached out to a friend of a friend who rolled out the red carpet for me at a different Chrysler dealership. I took it in and the only issue I had was the service manager. He gave me a little bit of attitude because I contacted general managers and asked for help before asking a service manager for help. He was way out of line but anyways, that’s nothing compared to everything else. They replace the RF module and put a new battery inside. And just so everybody knows, my truck factory three-year 36,000 mile warranty expired on April 30. I contacted Ram and I contacted the dealership begging them and pleading my case just to let them know that I have documentation over the last few months of the year, and I didn’t wanna have to pay out-of-pocket, and I did not want to have to spend one penny for deductibles or anything else. It wasn’t covered under my extended warranty. I made it very clear that if I need to spend one penny on my truck to please call me right away so I can come pick it up because I’m not going to have anybody open their wallet unless Chrysler pays for the repairs. I didn’t want to pay for anything, and I didn’t want the dealership to pay for anything. The next day they called me and fix everything anyways. They did not listen to what I said. I sound ungrateful, but I lost days of my life over this water leak. I had to buy a $500 jump starter just to carry around with me because of my daughter and, making sure we were able to get around. Anyways, moving forward, I go pick up the truck after six days and it’s dead as a door knob. I left the dealership in my loaner vehicle for the second time. Five days later I got a phone call telling me that the starter is bad and they need to replace that. Then I was told it was ready for pick up again. This time I told ram customer service that I will not be picking up my truck unless the rear window is replaced. So the truck stayed there another seven days. Yesterday I got the call letting me know that it’s done. I go pick it up and the rear window still on my truck. The original window. Fortunately, ram assured me that the back window will be replaced, but it’s on backorder at the moment. They said that they will cover the bill.
17 days total. I also want to be fully transparent. I am not trying to leave out any details. I was given a grand Cherokee is a loaner vehicle. On day 14 (when my truck should’ve been done with several times over again),…. I had a minor fender bender and I contacted the police immediately and my insurance company as well. I did not try to hide anything or anything else of that nature. My insurance carrier who is USAA told me that they will tell the dealership and for me to not call them. When I picked up the truck yesterday, the one man who I had a good rapport with gave me my keys and paperwork and sent me on my way. My one and a half year old is in the backseat and I am feeding her a pouch, because we were in a rush. The service manager, who I mentioned earlier, the real big prick. Asshole, stood behind my door while I’m feeding my daughter in the car seat. You continue to ask me over and over again what happened to the car and what happened to the jeep and where did it happen etc. etc. obviously I’m not going to admit fault and I’m not going to share any information with him as my insurance company already did. he told me that nobody told him anything and at that point I just didn’t care because I had an appointment. He stood in front of my vehicle and told me he is not letting me leave. I looked at him dead in the eyes and said, I will be leaving, no matter what you do or say, so please step aside. he still didn’t move. I asked him under what conditions or what reason why would I be unable to take my property off the parking lot and he told me there’s paperwork. Obviously for the accident, but I once again informed him to contact my insurance and contact the police for the police report. I told him I don’t have time for this, and he better get out of my way. He did step aside. Now I’m finally in my truck. Feels good to move forward. There was one issue I left out, the passenger side mirror would take it down when I went into reverse, and when I went back in the park or drive, it would return to original position. The service manager said it had to do with the RF module sending signals, and it was repaired for sure. That was not repaired obviously because it’s facing the ground as I write this. It’s not one of my major concerns, but it’s not their problem anymore. Then I started, noticing some of the weatherstripping, not being Tucktaway properly, and a couple, odds and ends that looks half ass. Ram customer service emailed and called me this morning to let me know that they will not be covering the rear window and they are closing the case. In my opinion, I can’t imagine a higher up executive or boss would ever let a customer leave in a car that has flowable silicone, blocking a water leak into their car. Then again I’ve been wrong many times. But this is where things get interesting.
I will share the photos below. Everybody who’s had this issue? Knows that the seats need to be removed. This afternoon I noticed a black plastic cover was loose. It’s a little cover that goes over the top of the seatbelt. Where are you go to grab it and put it over your shoulder. I also noticed that it snaps into place and it looked pretty cheap. I did not think much of it. I went out this evening to put my daughters car in the forward facing position because she is big enough to face forward in her car seat. I want to grab the seat belt and noticed the cover moved up more and more. Then I pulled the black plastic off because it was already falling off. Lol and behold, all I saw was a white metal, the ring, and the seatbelt not going through. Or I could not believe my eyes. I decided to leave it the way it was and put the seatbelt through and do a test going about 35 mph. I slammed on the brakes and that car seat went flying! So, I am in a position where the dealership basically has control of everything but after finding the seatbelt, I feel as if everything that happened is negated and does not matter anymore. This is a major safety concern, and, I consider this to be legal territory. I apologize for this being so long. I did not wanna lose out any details or forget anything which I’m sure I did. But are there any lawyers or anybody here who could steer me in the right direction. Obviously, I could go to another dealership and have them fix it at no cost. It’s a simple repair. but every time I think of my daughter, I think that somebody needs to pay the price. Same as when I think about trading it in. I worked so hard for this vehicle and put down a very large amount of money so my payment was nice and cheap., I will shut up now. Let me know what you think.

I'm an incoming graduate student looking to buy a used car. I'm ready to buy something around 10 grand cash that hopefully will last me a few years.
A dealership in my area has a clean title corporate vehicle 2018 fit (auto cvt) for 11k with 137k miles. It was involved in a side swipe accident in 2018 with minor damage report. There's 39 service records and it looks like the oil was changed pretty frequently given the amount of miles driven.
This is my first time buying a car and I don't have lots of help to guide me through the process of what to look out for, what's a reasonable car fax, how much i should be spending, etc. I'm doing some research but I'm definitely stumbling through the process a bit.
Could this cars be a good deal? Any other car buying tips appreciated.

2023.06.01 03:40 alotabit AT&T suing for damages after contractor cut line- line was shallow to begin with

We received a letter from a law firm in CA that is representing AT&T for replacing a line that was cut after we had some yard work done. We live in NC.
We believe the line was shallow to begin with since after some rain, the line was visible. We also believe the line was reinstalled shallow again. The tech that was out here said he needed to hand dig to bury the line. The letter also incorrectly states it was a fiber line but we don’t have fiber service.
The labor cost is $375 and the materials $60. Part of the letter says “AT&T is willing to resolve this matter for a lesser amount if and only if you co fact AT&T and secure payment within 30 days of receiving this demand letter.”
What options do we have and how much lower of an amount are they willing to take? Would the contractors insurance cover this? Should we forgo that in favor of contacting our local utility state office?
