2023.05.30 16:10 Unspecified_Specimen I have a very negative mindset and I don't know how to improve

So I consider myself a very negative person who struggle with severe trust issues. I don't want to be like this at all, but thinking positive and giving people the benefit of the doubt doesn't come natural to me at all. And I feel those thoughts are based on pure facts as most of us are inherently selfish and care more about ourselves than others. Me included. However, it's starting to ruin the few relationships I have, especially with my family. Is it because I can't hold my negative thoughts to myself? Or am I permeated with negativity so much that it's impossible to hide? I don't know. I have talked to several therapists but I don't find that helpful no matter how much I like them or how good our chemistry is. It feels good right then and there but five minutes after the sessions I'm back to my messed up version of "normal".
How do I change this? I also would like to mention that I consume a lot of true crime and really dig myself deep into those cases. My entertainment consist solely of listening to and watching creepypastas and truecrime podcast, documentaries, shows, horror movies, YouTube videos and so on. I also watch medical autopsies and crimescene photos from real life crimes and murders from time to time.
I'm worried that feeding my brain with all this misery might impact me a whole lot more than I realized. When I really reflect on it I see that it definitely won't improve my mental health. I'm really at a loss and I don't know how I can improve my mindset and feel happy with my life, which I can't remember the last time I did.
If anyone has, does or know of someone who struggle with a seriously negative outlook on life, trust issues and a pessimistic mindset I would be very grateful for any tips or advice. Or just to hear your thoughts.

2023.05.30 16:10 a90yed In situationships/FWBs, how do you enjoy it for what it is and accept there won't ever be more?

My friend of 2 years and I started a FWB/situationship 5 months ago. It was never really defined until about 2 months in when I asked him if there was anything serious there, and he told me he couldn't commit/had commitment issues and his feelings weren't there to try it despite those fears. I know he had a fairly traumatic relationship a few years ago and tends to get codependent/self sacrifice in relationships, so I understand what scares him.
I want to take his word for it and not hope for more or hold onto the hope that someday his feelings might change. I do want a relationship, but not necessarily right now. I have stuff to work on myself so this situationship in theory could be beneficial and fun for both of us, because if I didn't have this going on I wouldn't be dating anyway most likely, but this just confuses the hell out of me sometimes.
We do everything we'd do in a relationship. We're exclusive. He told me he doesn't want to see anyone else. We talk every day, all day. See each other 2 times a week and sleep over (so 4 days). We go out and do stuff together. Share our struggles/thoughts and support each other emotionally. We've been through similar hardships and can relate and comfort each other so much. We never argued, he's caring, gentle, considerate and easygoing. We see eye to eye on almost everything, our values and personalities align. He initiates all the time. I met his friends, his family. I know he doesn't "owe" me anything because we're not in a relationship, but he never makes me feel that way in the first place because he's consistent and reliable. We're affectionate all the time outside of sex.
At one point I brought the topic of a relationship up again, and he stated again that he didn't know, he didn't want to feel restricted or responsible for someone else, that he was getting carried away with the flow of things and that he didn't want to stand in between me and finding someone to be in a relationship with. He was willing to end it right there and go back to being friends. I asked him if he felt restricted with me right now, or that I was asking too much of him, and he said no. I said we were basically in a relationship, that there isn't so much more to it. And he said he agreed but he couldn't let himself go there to commit, in terms of feelings. That something was missing I guess and he hasn't felt that with anyone since his traumatic ex. That he tried it once afterwards and it didn't work out.
So for a week we went back to being friends because I had to figure out how to process this and my feelings about it, he was still an amazing/caring friend, the exact way he was before we were FWB. Then we met up again to talk about it, and I said it didn't feel right to end it because I knew I could be fine not having that title, and not having a future with him. The reason I brought it up was more from an ego standpoint at that time. How could we be so close yet he doesn't feel that way for me/doesn't want to be with me? And I still do feel that way now. I think. He said it didn't feel right to end it either. He just doesn't want to hurt me at all.
I want to accept that there won't be anything more than this, and that this will end at some point. I do adore him but I don't think I'm all the way invested/in love, but I'm also kind of terrified of getting there, or that I'm deluding myself in the way I'm feeling and will get my heart so so broken. If I imagine things ending right now or him finding someone he does want to be with, it would hurt. So I don't know.
For people in happy situationships/FWBs, how do you enjoy it for what it is and accept there won't ever be more? Even if there are feelings involved to some degree, how do you let go?

2023.05.30 16:09 Feeling-Client7275 Endo disagrees with TRT dosing and schedule

Finally found a somewhat agreeable Endo to get my TRT covered under insurance. However there's some discrepancies. She claims it's unusual for HCG and Test Cyp to be prescribed together and that an AI isn't ever necessary. She was really cool though in discussing it and I brought up that it seems to be a pretty common thing and I've read on studies backing it. She actually was curious about the studies and admitted to it being a while since prescribing or working with patients taking testosterone.
I currently dose 3x a week - she said that was odd and usually only does once a week. Take HCG - she thought it was odd to take this with testosterone AI taken as needed - she suggested that you shouldn't need an AI and I explained how I've noticed when my estrogen levels felt elevated that I would take .25mg, most but since changing to 3x weekly injections it hasn't been needed as opposed to when I did twice weekly. My low before getting on TRT was 338ng/dL which dropped from about 550 the year prior despite making major lifestyle improvements and symptoms getting worse.
Should I attempt to show her current practices and explain further how this has worked for me and it's going on a year? She was really chill and didn't seem opposed to learning about these studies I was reading on. I've been on test for almost a year now and it has significantly improved my life and all the sides I was having prior have pretty much gone away.
She ended up ordering me labs to see where I sit now and suggested I can stop taking test BUT continue HCG and then said we can chat about everything more through the online patient portal as well.

2023.05.30 16:09 degggendorf Looking to double check my cell data plans for upcoming visit

I have been researching and think I've come up with a good/the best plan, but would like to make sure I'm understanding everything correctly for our upcoming 10-day ring road trip.
I have an unlocked Pixel 6a that supports eSIMs.
Then through Airalo: Nenna Mobile (Nova network) 10GB plan for $23, download to phone once we're in the country (and disable the US AT&T physical SIM before we leave).
If we need to make any actual voice calls, I have a US Google Voice number and will pay the two cents per minute to call over data to an Icelandic number.
Texting back to the US is not critical; we'll use FB Messenger or whatever with anyone we need to communicate with.
We could probably get away with less data considering we'll have wifi pretty much every night and will pre-download all the driving and hiking maps, but it's cheap enough that over-buying data seems worthwhile so I never have to worry about scrimping.
Does anyone see any issue or have any notes on that plan?
Thank you!

The Importance of Choosing the Right Website Design and Development Company

Website design and development company in Hyderabad - Rapshift.com

Website design and development play a vital role in creating a positive user experience and establishing a strong online presence. However, selecting the right company to handle this task is equally important. In this blog post, we will explore the significance of having a well-designed website, the factors to consider when choosing a website design and development company, and the importance of understanding the client's requirements.

Definition of Website Design and Development:

Website design involves the process of creating the layout, visual elements, and overall aesthetics of a website. It focuses on user interface (UI) design, ensuring that the site is visually appealing, easy to navigate, and user-friendly. On the other hand, website development refers to the technical implementation of the design, including coding, programming, and database management, to bring the website to life.

Importance of Having a Well-Designed Website:

  1. First Impressions: Your website is often the first interaction a potential customer has with your brand. A visually appealing and professional design creates a positive first impression, instilling confidence and trust in your business.
  2. User Experience: A well-designed website enhances user experience, making it easy for visitors to find the information they need and navigate through the site effortlessly. Intuitive navigation, clear call-to-action buttons, and responsive design are crucial elements in ensuring a positive user experience.
  3. Brand Identity: A website design should align with your brand identity, reflecting your unique values, mission, and aesthetics. Consistency in design elements, such as color scheme, typography, and imagery, helps reinforce your brand identity and builds recognition among users.

Choosing the Right Website Design and Development Company:

  1. Factors to Consider: Expertise and Experience: Look for a company with a proven track record in website design and development. Assess their skills, knowledge, and experience in creating websites similar to your requirements. Team and Resources: Ensure the company has a skilled team of designers, developers, and project managers who can effectively execute your project. Additionally, check if they have the necessary resources and technologies to meet your website's demands. Reputation and Reviews: Research the company's reputation and read client reviews and testimonials. This will provide insights into their past performance, customer satisfaction, and overall credibility.
  2. Evaluating Portfolio and Past Projects: Examine the company's portfolio and previous projects to assess the quality and diversity of their work. Look for designs that align with your preferences and industry standards. Pay attention to the functionality, responsiveness, and overall user experience of the websites they have created.
  3. Understanding the Client's Requirements: A reliable website design and development company should prioritize understanding your specific needs and goals. They should communicate effectively, ask the right questions, and listen attentively to gather a comprehensive understanding of your business, target audience, and objectives. This information will help them create a website that caters to your unique requirements.
Importance of Gathering Client's Needs and Goals: Understanding your needs and goals is crucial in ensuring that the website design and development company can deliver a tailored solution. By aligning their expertise with your objectives, they can create a website that effectively represents your brand, engages your target audience, and drives desired outcomes such as increased traffic, conversions, and revenue.
Conducting Thorough Research and Analysis: A reputable website design and development company will conduct thorough research and analysis before starting the project. They will analyze your industry, competitors, target audience, and market trends to identify opportunities and develop strategies for your website. This research-driven approach helps in creating a website that stands out from the competition, addresses the unique needs of your audience, and aligns with the latest design and development trends.

2023.05.30 16:08 urethrapaprecut Anyone else having difficulty achieving basic functionality?

I'm attempting to design a poster in powerpoint because it's the only app the school has and I'm having difficulty doing anything due to how incredibly slow it is. before you suggest, I've tried all the typical things, hardware acceleration, gridlines, uninstalling, turning off the AI, everything I can think of. I'm very technically experienced but even I can't just make a fucking powerpoint.
Every time I zoom in it just freezes. My clicks are happening in the wrong locations. My resolution is constantly fuzzy. I have 2 large images on the slide because I literally have to have a high res image but they're not bigger than a couple megabytes and there's only a couple elements. It's been a long time since I used powerpoint and I'm extremely dissapointed in how bloated and useless it's become. Who the hell thought adding whatever the fuck "Power BI", or a teams integration, or anything besides making a slide and presenting it, could possibly be more important than making the program actually run, let alone be even remotely near a positive experience to use.
Microsoft has had years and years to make a good program and it seems that they've only made everything worse. I have to turn off constant attempts to prevent me from doing the things I want. Word keeps "autocorrecting" things I typed intentionally, powerpoint keeps "autoformatting" away the changes I'm making intentionally. And I'm required to search and find the settings that they've auto turned on and then fight the same settings every single document or textbox I want to add. It's a god damn shame that schools keep paying for this shit and locking every generation into this bullshit monopoly skinner box of more analytics and more surveillance and less functionality. Shinier buttons that don't work anymore.
So apart from all that, has anyone any magic tricks to make my settings actually save for new textboxes or documents? Does anyone how to make powerpoint actually work or require less bullshit ram for the thousand needless fucking things it's running in the background? Does anyone know if microsoft gives a damn they're making everyone on the planet hate them with a passion or are they content to just remain a monopoly. Text post instructions say, "Speak your mind", and I have. Thanks for reading.

2023.05.30 16:07 ApprehensiveRain1651 SPay Later ID Rejected

So I am trying to activate my SPay Later but when I try to upload my new passport ID, it keeps getting rejected because the the ID I used to verify my ShopeePay is already expired. It just keeps on telling me to take a photo of the ID with the same ID number indicated in my ShopeePay account, but then if I do, it says upload a different one but won’t accept it cause the ID numbers don’t match.
There’s no way to change the ID number there and no way to choose to upload a different ID instead of a Passport.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?

2023.05.30 16:07 TheBlackUnicorn Everything that went wrong in my four years of owning a Tesla Model S

Hi everyone! I posted earlier about my decision to buy a Toyota Tacoma to replace my S (I have not traded the S in, I got the Tacoma yesterday and I'm currently waiting on repairs from Tesla before I sell the S).
I suggested in the comment thread that I'd do a post about EVERYTHING that went wrong with that car. So let's buckle up because here we go.
I bought the car CPO from Tesla in June of 2019, it is a 2016 75D/"Standard Range" S. The car is a relatively rare build because Tesla upgraded to Autopilot 2 hardware in October of '16 and removed the free unlimited supercharging perk in January of '17 (or roughly around that time). My car came down the line in November of '16 so it's one of very few Ses that has both these features. The first time I took it into the Service Center I was told by a technician (who does not drive a Tesla as his personal vehicle) that this particular run of Ses was one of the best batch he'd ever seen. Oh boy let's see how great this batch is.

Heated steering wheel

The first thing that went wrong with the car was actually broken from the time I bought it, but I didn't notice for a few months because it was the heated steering wheel. Winter '19/'20 set in and I realized the steering wheel wasn't warming up. I took it in for warranty repair and they found it was simply unplugged, this was free.

Trunk latch

In the summer of 2020, amid the COVID lockdowns, one day the trunk failed to latch and was stuck open. I tried pulling the emergency release but that did nothing. I scheduled a mobile appointment (which I will give Tesla credit for, very few car companies make housecalls), and the technician was also unable to get the trunk to latch. So I scheduled a service center appointment and had to drive with the trunk open for a couple weeks, this made an annoying beeping noise and prevented me from using ANY cruise control, let alone "Autopilot" (or "Full-Self Driving", I actually got grandfathered into the offer to upgrade from EAP to FSD for $3000 so I pulled the trigger on that, I have not requested the FSD Beta because it looks like a death machine to me).
Amazingly during my drive to the service center the trunk magically fixed itself. I wasn't about to turn around and go home since I figured the part could still be faulty, so I asked them to look at it anyway. Since they didn't see anything wrong they charged me over $500 to replace the components. This was my first repair bill.

First collision repair

A couple months later I was rear-ended by a teenager and she did a bunch of damage to the back of the car, this was one of my most seamless issues with the car, I took it to a local collision repair shop and they had it back to me within 3 days, all of these costs were paid by insurance.

MCU2 Upgrade

At some point I took the car in for them to replace the MCU (the 17" touchscreen) with the newer one so I could get Netflix and YouTube on my center screen. This was an optional service center visit, though the original MCU was REALLY starting to chug on newer Tesla software. The replacement cost $1600 and they did not put in a new AM/FM radio (that would have been an additional $500 and I don't listen to the radio much anyway). I was actually kind of happy that I could have the option to upgrade this tech, but if MCU2 winds up being as sluggish as MCU1 was when it was just 4-5 years old this seems like an extra non-optional cost.

12V Battery Replacement

In the summer of 2021 I got the error "12V BATTERY LOW SCHEDULE SERVICE NOW". That seemed really urgent, so I went on YouTube and searched for this error and found out that James May got the same issue. TL;DW the 12V system is powered primarily by a DC-to-DC converter from the main battery, but when the main battery disconnects there's a small 12V (like one you'd use in a motorcycle) that is needed to power on the actuators that connect the main battery. If the 12V goes flat the car is bricked and, because the 12V is under the frunk and the frunk is electronically actuated, the only way to get to the 12V to trickle charge it is to partially dismantle the car.
In fact, I was lucky to get a warning at all some Teslas have had this happen with no warning and in fact it was a software update that even added the warning. And in fact a lot of early Teslas failed within a year because for some reason they charge and discharge the 12V like mad. I hope they've improved this since this blog post, but anyway this is a serious design defect.
Tesla did the right thing here and got me into service the next day AND I got the car back within 90 minutes. This is the fastest turnaround time I've ever seen from them, however I'm fairly certain that if my car was no longer under warranty (meaning they would not be responsible for paying to tow it to the service center) I would not have gotten such white glove treatment.

Suspension issue

In 2022 I read the book Ludicrous: The Unvarnished Story of Tesla Motors by Ed Niedermeyer. From this book I learned about whompy wheels and learned a rumor that many Teslas were built with cheap aluminum suspensions that tend to fail. China forced Tesla to do a recall on cars built in the US and exported to China.
I frantically drove to my local tire shop and asked them to look at the suspension, they reported that it looked to be in good condition but that there was a leak in the hydraulic fluid that Tesla should repair under warranty. I took the car to Tesla and they had it for SIX DAYS during which I had to rely on their Uber vouchers (Tesla only recently started doing loaners in my area, it might be because I live in a very obscure remote place called New York City /s). They reported to me that nothing was wrong with the suspension and returned the car, completely filthy since they'd left it parked under a tree.

Windshield replacement

In late 2022 I decided to save some money by replacing my wiper blades myself. While the blade arms were out one of the springs came loose and smashed into the windshield. It took me about a week to get the wiper back on, I tried every tool in my toolbox and eventually just took it to the tire shop where they put in a vice and got it to reconnect. They did this for free. Over the winter of '22/'23 however the damage to the windshield escalated into a crack. This is mostly my own stupid fault, I probably could have prevented this crack from growing with a cheapo Amazon glass repair kit, but none of the other cars I've ever driven have had something this nuts happen.
I took the car to a local glass repair shop and the owner told me I needed a full new windshield. He called Tesla to confirm the part number and order it, they did not pick up the phone. I was out of the country for about a month so I left this to pick up when I returned. I just went to SafeLite since I assumed they had more staff to pester Tesla to send them the windshield. Dropped off my car, they called me and said they had to wait a couple weeks for the windshield to ship. About a week later I dropped off the car AGAIN and they replaced the windshield.
This cost me another $500 out of pocket and the rest (about $700) was covered by insurance.

Door replacement collision repair

On March 7th 2023 a kid jumped a stop sign and crashed into my driver's side door, he put a huge dent in it and the door handle got stuck in the presenting position. Because he was not the policyholder* his insurance could not establish that he had permission to drive the vehicle and said they would not pay for the repair, so I again had to go through my insurance meaning I couldn't get a loaner.
It took Tesla TWO WEEKS to ship a new door to the only local Tesla-certified collision repair center in my area (this was about a 30 minute drive and I had to Uber both ways since there was no nearby public transit). When I got the car back there was an obnoxious amount of wind noise, I found they had misaligned the new window with the weather stripping. I brought the car back to them and they tooled around enough to get the wind noise down to a lower level, but it is still not gone. I did find I could jam some paper into the weather stripping and shim it up to prevent a little bit of noise.
This was a $500 out of pocket cost (which I may get back through insurance arbitration) and the cost to the insurance was a whopping $4700!

The HVAC filter, radars, and AC

Now we come to the straw that broke the camel's back. I noticed in the manual recently that my car is due for a replacement of the HVAC filter. They're fairly cheap on Amazon, so I figured I'd try doing it myself again. My wife talked me out of this due to what happened with the wiper blades. Additionally the HVAC system has a desicant bag that needs to be replaced periodically (like one of those sillica gel packets), and that requires a special machine.
So I scheduled a service center visit, they informed me my car was also eligible for a free upgrade to the autopilot cameras. I dropped off the car and for the first time in FOUR YEARS they gave me a loaner, a lease-return Model Y that presumably they couldn't find a buyer for (this car was a complete shitbox but that's a whole other story).
They said they would take FIVE DAYS to do this quick 30 minute job of replacing the HVAC filters. I also tried phoning them to ask if they could take a look at the wind noise from the previous repair, there was a message on the phone that told me I need to do all communication with them through the app. I messaged in the app, they did not respond.
Amazingly I got the car back after just FOUR days, but I was informed they did not look at the wind noise because it wasn't on the original list of things, and I would need to book ANOTHER appointment and wait ANOTHER two weeks for that. Replacing a $30 HVAC filter and a dessicant bag cost me a whopping $460!
After I got the car back, however, I realized that they did not merely "upgrade" the Autopilot cameras. They removed the Autopilot radar. I know they did it because now my follow distance bottoms out at 2 and I now have an 85mi/hr Autosteer speed limit. By the way, unlike the 3 and Y the Autopilot follow distance control in the S is a physical click-knob. So I can click it to 7,6,5,4,3,2 and 2. Like they replaced the bottom position with a second "2".
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!
The HVAC is now blowing hot air. Every time I turn on the AC the car blasts me in the face with hot air and the compressor goes nuts. I assume this means the coolant is low (since it seems to have some ability to cool but is struggling a LOT).
So that's the end of our story. That's everything that's happened to this car so far. And where are we now? I have an appointment with service to fix the remaining problems and YESTERDAY I bought a 2020 Toyota Tacoma which GET THIS has a radar adaptive cruise control! No fancy "Autopilot" or "Autosteer", but it has lane departure warning which is enough to keep me awake on a long nighttime drive.
The biggest open secret about "Autopilot" and "FSD" is that they're mostly off-the-shelf components. Rather than building a self-driving car what Tesla actually did was take standard driver-assistance cruise control features and mash them together pretending they're something magical.
*This was a frankly ridiculous claim on the part of his insurance since his mother was the policyholder and the police report documents that she was sitting in the passenger's seat at the time of the collision. So I guess their position is that she was in the process of being kidnapped.
If you ever get into a crash like this make sure to take out your phone, take a video, and say "Do you have his/her permission to drive this vehicle?" If they say no just turn to the police and say it's a stolen vehicle and it needs to be impounded.

2023.05.30 16:05 Visible_Cupcake8413 But what does the criteria even mean?

I just score above average on the NPI so I do not have a diagnosis.
A Criteria For NPD is "is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love". Another one is "believes that he or she is “special” and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)".
I have a very hard time conceptualizing this. What does it even mean? Don't most people strive for improvement in those areas? How is it differentiated from ambition? If someone has a high ability, is it neccesarily "shooting too high" to aim higher? A lot of goals and expectations might be considered OTT in some context, while being the norm and expected in others. Is that within that preoccupation? It would maybe seem so for someone who grew up in another context. How much of that is simply tall poppy syndrome? While it is a categorical diagnosis, the trait would be normally distributed (so the normal thing isn't the "opposite") and a certain degree of this even adaptive? To what degree is it normal to be preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success/powebrilliance/beauty/ideal love? I thought everyone was to a certain degree, and a lot of human behaviour is most certainly status driven.
And what if someone *is* unique? Certain experiences can only be understood by people who share that experience, and networking and surrounding yourself with the right people might be crucial for a good life. And isn't the latter simply how a lot of people in the upper class or even upper middle class act? In addition, if someone slips down to a lower societal class than they were initially born, wouldn't some of those feelings just naturally prevail? I notice a lot of this myself. I'm young and in a place in life where it's natural to have less money than I grew up with, but I still notice how weird it feels that a lot of the things I grew up with or took for granted suddenly are out of reach and I still somehow feel like I "deserve" it. Isn't that normal? What about a celebrity who suddenly becomes invisible or poor - isn't it normal to have a hard time adjusting?

2023.05.30 16:05 spiderpigbegins Recommendations for speakers in a small living room for movies and music - $1000 budget

Me and my girlfriend (in Sweden) are moving to a new apartment and as we're doing this I'm looking to upgrade the sound situation with some new speakers.
At the moment we have a Panasonic SU-HTB690 soundbar with accompanying subwoofer. The audio from that is better than that of the TV but not much more than that.
We have a budget of around $1000. The speakers will be used primarily for Movies/TV and secondarily for listening to music via Spotify. As of now we stream movies from Netflix/Disney+/HBO and some 4K UHD files via Plex. The TV (LG B8) will be located in a small living room around 2,5-3m/7-9ft from the couch. Worth pointing out is that my gf would in an ideal world like for the speakers to be invisible (so flootower speakers are excluded). Since we will live in an apartment the sound does not need to be super loud.
I've been looking closely at the Argon Audio Forte A5 MK2 and possibly the Argon Audio Bass8 MK2 to complement them. From what I've read these seem to have good reviews.
Advantages of this solution in my eyes are:
Question marks and disadvantages:
What are your thoughts on this solution. Am I on the right track? Do you have any other suggestions regarding speakers and/or solutions? Am I missing something?

2023.05.30 16:04 manicadam Guild Cliques question

Hello everyone. I've been feeling the urge to find a new guild(I fought off these same feelings 2 seasons ago.)
It isn't because I hate my guild or that we aren't a good match skill wise. In fact I do enjoy the company of several of them and we manage to get AOTC every season for the last year.
No it's because of their clique and the roles of the people who belong to it. It's because our guild is pretty much stuck at around 12 raiders and I don't see how it'll grow in these conditions. In particular, our M+ activities.
Our main tank is an antisocial, he doesn't really do M+, but when he does, it is only with the clique group, never with anyone else. The clique group consists of the offtank, 2-3 of our healers, and our top DPS guy who is pretty amazing.
They say that they really only play this game to play with each other as they've been friends for years. I get that, but I feel like the problem lies with their roles in the raid. The rest of us are only left with the option to pug M+as a DPS as pretty much all our healers and main tanks are in the clique. Newer members have asked and been denied the chance to play one of these roles in raid. So if anyone does play a hybrid class, they could still PUG M+ as a healetank, but that does create some skill and gear issues(in my opinion).
So over the last year I've seen people come and go due to the clique and being excluded from M+. It is quite difficult, but still possible to PUG M+ keys as 2-3 DPS. So playing together with guildies becomes a lot more challenging than pugging solo. They pug solo, find a group of people, and leave the guild. This keeps playing out over and over.
I personally do just the same if not better pugging than I do when I get invited to M+ with them about once a month. I can tolerate it, but most people can't. To be honest I'm just tired of raiding in a small group. Too many bosses have the same amount of mechanics to deal with whether you're in a 12 person or 30 person group. This is beyond frustrating to have to constantly deal with being selected for a mechanic instead of focusing on DPS'ing. It just makes everything so much more difficult in my opinion.
I should probably just leave right? As my main problem is the raid size and the inability of my guild to grow. Although identified the cause to be the clique itself, I don't believe there is anything I could do to fix this.

2023.05.30 16:04 TimeThrowaway4 Is this field really worth it anymore?

I have been searching for a job for the past year and have applied to over 200 Help Desk type roles which pay about the same amount of money as one would make working in retail. I know people who didn't go to college and are making almost twice what these entry level positions are paying after 2-3 years in the workforce. Is IT really worth it anymore? I have a Bachelor's in IT and a decent amount of web dev projects on my resume. So far, I've gotten about 4-5 interviews and no offers. Should I transition into the non-IT related workforce and cut my losses? Considering how terrible and oversaturated the entry level IT market is, I don't know for how much longer I can just be job searching without bringing in any income.

2023.05.30 16:04 jxdesreddit Is going to class the only way I can progress?

Hi yogis!

So basically, I've been thinking a lot about my yoga journey and my self improvement journey in general. Unfortunately, I've had to give up my yoga classes in exchange for paying for therapy (which to be fair - I very much need). I am in a position where I can't afford both right now, and I have to be smart about my finances, so I have chosen therapy.

My worry is that now I won't continue to improve. I know the aesthetics isn't what yoga is about, but I have often looked at the more difficult intricate poses and dreamt of the day I can do them (sometimes on low motivation days this is my biggest motivator).

I don't know how I will start to be able to challenge myself and work into poses I've never done before without the prompting from a teacher. I will be doing my practice from home from now on.

Does any one have any tips on how I can continue to grow my practice from home?

Thank you :}

REPOSTED without commenters names—karissa and the filter glitch
I never used to really have an opinion about whether or not she filtered her kids skin to be lighter, but this definitely appear so as the filter is glitching and the baby’s skin is multiple shades lighter when it glitches on. On my previous post, someone commented that maybe she was using a filter because she’s uncomfortable with her appearance, which I think is absolutely also true, and maybe this is just my ignorance about how filters work, but does the beauty filter really lighten skin that much? I can definitely see it doing some brightening, but this is significant and extremely noticeable.

2023.05.30 16:03 Impressive-Bad-1500 Landscaper scammed myself and others

Throwaway account.
So, I broke rule number one of hiring a local contractor, in the Norfolk, VA area. I paid more money up front than I should have, roughly 2k. I realize how dumb I am, but that’s what I get for putting any faith in humanity.
Anyways, they came to do a landscaping job, gave me a reasonable quote and said they only required a small down payment to begin. I got a signed quote on paper with the itemized list of things to be done. They began work and knocked off a couple things from the list. Then they left for some more materials and to rent equipment. They asked me to pay the couple hundred-dollar deposit for the equipment, saying the one they had couldn’t fit in my yard. I was skeptical and asked a couple questions and got some pretty dumb answers, but I just assumed they were trying to get their local business up and running and needed a little help so I gave it to them. First big mistake. Because then the person continued to make excuses for other things and tacking on additional money. This whole time he was polite and professional, even calling me to give updates and all that. But it was starting to become more and more bullshit.
So I did what I should have done before even contacting the person to begin with, I looked them up. I had the person’s phone number saved as a contact in my phone, so some social media apps automatically ask you to add them. I’d noticed this person pop up once so I decided to check. The name on the account was different then the name he’s provided me and on his flyers/email. So I was like huh that’s strange, so I looked up the name and sure enough it was him.
Then I looked up their company name. They made it very similar to another bigger company in the area, which had many reviews on google, just to trick people. But I eventually found their reviews on local review sites, and then some scam tracking sites. That’s when I saw multiple people say they’ve done this exact same thing multiple times in the same area in the recent past. For very similar amounts of money. Now what little sympathy I had remaining is all out the door. I called and filed a police report, but the officer said at this point it’s not a criminal offense so they couldn’t do anything. Basically, because they started the work, now they’re just technically "working slow". But then he gave some examples of what I could do next based off some people he knew went through a similar situation. Including small claims court.
The information I know:
- Person used a fake name. Found them on social media
- Business is actually not a licensed business
- Lied about being BBB licensed and insured. Looked it up on their site.
- Found multiple people in same situation online
So my questions are:
- If I take this person to small claims court and win, I’ve seen sometimes that the defendant can literally just say they’re not going to pay up even right in front of the judge. So what’s the point?
- Am I allowed to reach out to the other people who got scammed, and see if they are interested in doing a combined lawsuit? And do the total damages accrue, causing the case to actually go to the district court if they are high enough? I saw somewhere small claims is only up to $5,000 in Virginia but correct me if I’m wrong please.
At the end of the day I’d much rather the person just finish the work, or pay me back. But if not, I would like to know what options I have. Thanks in advance!

2023.05.30 16:03 victotronics Dealing with ChatGPT and such in a programming class

I'm about to start a new semester of C++ teaching for engineering students.
I feel like being liberal in accepting homeworks that were assisted by AIs. I mean, if I don't it just becomes an exercise in "how can I fool the teacher", not?
Also, given how many of my programming exercises use some code skeleton ("write the classes that make this main program work" or "implement functions that pass these unit tests") I doubt that AI can be much help at all. Or am I wrong?
So I'm thinking of doing regular "coding interviews" with the students to test their understanding of their own submissions. My class is small enough that that might just work.
What are other teachers thinking here? Does anyone already have experience?

2023.05.30 16:03 smallersize Extreme edema on prednisone

Hey y’all—I’m mid 30s SLE/lupus nephritis among other things. On prednisone now to address a flare. I’m experiencing wild edema from mid section to my toes. It may be lupus itself, but it started this bad after starting prednisone. I Can barely stand/walk, can’t navigate stairs effectively, my skin it stretched to the max over my legs. I think it’s also squishing my digestive organs down because processing food has been rough.
I kinda remember something like this happening on prednisone before but I don’t remember it interfering with my mobility and ADLs as much. This isn’t “weight gain” in the typical sense— it’s literally fluid pooling under my skin. I can squish it around and it doesn’t bounce back like regular body mass. It also happened within 1 week. Doctors haven’t seen me in person yet since the prednisone prescription, but don’t seem too responsive to what I’m describing— honestly feels like I’m not effectively communicating how bad it is.
Does this happen to others? Any ideas for relief? (FYI, what I’ve tried so far— I’m hydrated, “managing” with massage, exercise when I can, and my diet is very anti-inflammatory mostly veggies and gluten free).
Thank you all!

2023.05.30 16:03 YungCharma69 Landscaping Planning

Hi everyone,
My wife and I recently moved into a new construction home. We recently got sod and want to put landscaping in. Nothing crazy. Some edging, rock, bushes, etc. I’m trying to plan out how much edging and material we need. Does anyone know of any good apps or ways to plan this? I have a survey for our home which gives the measurements of each of our sections of the outside of our home. There has to be an app out there that will let me visualize the space we want to landscape relevant to our house…any suggestions?

2023.05.30 16:03 SlowJunket8363 Been lurking on this sub a long time and finally want to tell someone about my problems

My boyfriend of almost two years came with a lot of…baggage. Baggage is the nice way to put it. I knew his last relationship a couple years before we started dating was pretty horrible. His ex was extremely abusive to him mentally and physically. So I get why he was cautious to start a relationship again. But we did begin a relationship and moved in together pretty quickly. Shortly after moving in together, I don’t know why I decided to do this, but I looked through his phone. He had a couple of burner Snapchat accounts he would sext hundreds girls with, and had looked at tons of porn every single day. Very specific fetish websites where he’s interacting with other people. Okay, fine. I put up with that. I worked with him. He said it was an addiction and he wanted to stop. That took about a year to really get under control. He probably still looks at porn and I don’t really care about that a whole lot because the sexting thing was more what he was addicted to. He let me put a screen time password on his phone and it limits his ability to use Snapchat. Set up through my email so he can’t change the time limit. So he’s not doing that anymore, but our bedroom is still dead as fuck. From November-February of this year we did not have sex one time. No foooling around at all. And then we did for about a month or two, infrequently but still better than before. But now as of today we’re back on two months without sex. I think trying to recover from this fucking sexting addiction has killed his libido, and also his drinking habits. He drinks every single night until he falls asleep. I used to kind of encourage him to slow down, and then I saw him slow down and alcohol is the only thing I’ve seen cure his anxiety and insomnia… I know it isn’t healthy and I’m still not encouraging it but I’ve given up on that stopping. So this two things combined have completely killed any intimacy we had. We are both young, good looking, active people. I think I deserve a relationship where my needs are met, I’m too young to have a shitty sex life. He says his low libido is due to stress. He said he’s 28 and stressed about his low paying job and how he’s doing nothing that he wanted to do with his life. I asked him “so on top of that do you want to also have a shitty sex life?” He says no and he’ll work on it. But he does not work on it. I don’t feel as close to him when we don’t have sex and I don’t feel wanted. I don’t even want to initiate, not because I’m scared of being rejected but I don’t want to have sex with someone who doesn’t totally WANT me. I want someone that desires me. I think I know that this means I should probably end the relationship, because if it’s this bad and we haven’t even been together for two years I can’t imagine even further down the road, but I know I would miss him and his family and our friendship so so much, so it’s hard for me to walk away. How do I walk away?
