To begin, my 24-year-old BF and I (F22) have been together for 3-years. He is actually my first boyfriend, and we met when I was 19. At the moment, we both live at our parents' house, and he is looking for a job that pays well enough for us to move out together, I am also employed, and I have been the main breadwinner of the relationship for a majority of the three years. He had on and off again jobs but eventually decided to attend college full-time, he has one more semester left before he graduates officially and receives his associate degree. I don't have a car yet, in fact, I am saving for a down payment for one which is going to take some time. However, my boyfriend has a car and because he is unemployed and has recently completed his semester, meaning he has no school at the moment - all he has to do for me is take me to work in the morning and sometimes pick me up in the afternoon (sometimes my mom comes to get me because she is nearby). I have no problem taking uber but it does burn a whole in my pocket depending on the day, uber has price surges (they do this on purpose) and I end up paying $17-18 just for one ride that is roughly 30min away with traffic (give or take) for 5-days a week, he knows I am saving up my money and prefers to take me himself to not only help me save money but also for safety since he thinks some uber drivers are shady.
The day before work like on a Sunday, I will specifically ask him if he is going to take me to work in the morning on Monday as confirmation, usually he will tell me yes, and I expect him to follow through. Well, that was not the case this morning. I called at least 3-times to wake him up and nothing, was forced to take uber. I was upset because I expect him to be a man of his word and I am unsure if I am beginning to resent him for this reason (since this isn't the first time it happened before and we have talked about it.) or if I resent him for the fact that if he can't do the bare minimum for me (take me to work) then there is no reason to be with him?
I have no kids, go to work 5-days a week, work 40 hours a week since it's a full-time job. I am making my own money, assisting my mother with bills when I can and the only thing that holds me back is that I don't have a car. Other than that, I sometimes feel as though if he is not adding to my life then what are we doing? I feel I am being harsh by saying this, but I pay for his gas, help with car maintenance (buying oil, new wipers etc.), when we go out, I pay for the food, drinks, and whatever else there is, and he is the one taking us there via his car. I hit my head celebrating our 13th place finish on the final day of the 2017/18 season. Back then we had Paul Heckingbottom in charge and Pierre-Michel Lasogga leading the forward line! First thing I did when I woke up was check the current Leeds United squad and I have to say it doesn't look like I've missed much.
I note that Cooper, Dallas and Ayling are all still here but this was unsurprising to me - these were all pretty average mid table Championship players so I suppose that makes sense if that's the level we've been at all these years. No Kalvin Phillips which is a shame as I did like him but not surprised he didn't make the grade here. I assume he's at Barnsley or Bradford or somewhere along with Tom Lees and Dom Poleon. They both never looked like making their mark here to be honest and we need to do better if we want to remain comfortable as a midtable Championship side.
I was delighted to find out Patrick Bamford is a Leeds player these days! I'm really excited to watch him play for us, he was absolutely clinical when I last saw him at Elland Road - scoring a hattrick for Middlesbrough.
I see we're considering Sam Allardyce for next season which seems about par coming off the back of Neil Warnock, Garry Monk and Paul Heckingbottom. Personally I'd like to see the club be proactive and hire someone a bit younger with fresh ideas. The likes of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard must be chomping at the bit to stay in the game and both seem like honourable chaps with an aptitude for management.
On another note, I'm glad to see we didn't persist with that horrendous fist badge that was touted, and can only assume the owners decided to honour the long established white, blue and yellow colour scheme of the club afterall. I see the Adidas logo on the Leeds website now so I'm excited to see what bangers they've brought out for us! I imagine they're all classics what with Adidas being such a reputable brand.
Anyway, keep the faith, lads, next year marks two full decades since we were last in the prem but I'm sure we'll get back there one day. I imagine once we do finally get promoted we will be a big attraction for some major investment and as long as we recruit well, back our managers, don't get tied up in silly off field drama and have professional owners we should comfortably leapfrog the likes of Crystal Palace and Fulham and look to return to the European spots within a year or two of promotion.
