2023.03.13 22:01 Justos Surprised how much WoW has taken from gw2 lately

I'm trying out dragonflight and the obvious one there is the riding mechanics but they also took races, proper level scaling, events rather than quests that start when you show up, and they definitely took note of masteries with their account wide unlocks for the new zones. It left a weird feeling. Like I'm playing a knock off gw2
I still enjoy wow for the story lore and dungeons, but it's crazy to me they took so many ideas
As someone who's played the original back in the day it feels so similar to what gw2 was aiming for back in 2012. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, just interesting

2023.03.11 08:53 thespuzz How World of Warcraft: Dragonflight plans to keep flying high

World of Warcraft is in the midst of an era of good feelings with its Dragonflight expansion, and it couldn’t have come at a better time for Blizzard.
The studio faced a good amount of player dissatisfaction during the two proceeding expansions, Shadowlands and Battle for Azeroth. But Dragonflight’s focus on a lighter, more traditional fantasy story and aesthetic has won over many players.
Now, Blizzard is preparing the expansion’s biggest update patch yet with 10.1, Embers of Neltharion. As is usual for these big patches, it will add a new zone for players to quest and explore in. It’ll also bring a new raid tier and season for Mythic+ dungeons. But the patch also includes some surprises, like cross-faction guilds and, um (checks notes) … snail racing.
I recently had a chance to talk with World of Warcraft game director Ion Hazzikostas and executive producer Holly Longdale about the state of World of Warcraft, the success of the Dragonflight expansion and the new content in Embers of Neltharion.

But before that, I did want to ask about reports that Activision Blizzard is forcing employees back to offices. Below is an edited transcript of our interview.
GamesBeat: There have been reports about Activision Blizzard employees going back to work at the office. How is that going to impact the WoW team?
Ion Hazzikostas: It’s an extension of a conversation that’s really happening across the entire industry. It’s not just Blizzard, or even just gaming companies or major companies in the tech sphere. We’re all collectively figuring out what the future of work is going to look like. Understandably, people have their perspectives on those conversations. As leaders on WoW, our focus is, as we apply company policy, to make sure we’re listening to our team’s concerns, meeting them where they are, and trying to navigate this transition as we move forward, doing so with the best interests of our team and our players at heart.
Hazzikostas: It’s great. It’s energizing. We all do what we do to bring people joy. I think there are few things that are more gratifying as a developer than being able to hop on Twitch and watch someone play through and enjoy content you crafted, or read Reddit threads and forum threads speculating about what’s coming next in a plotline you’re working on, or reacting to a cool piece of art you put in the game. All of that is energizing.
But also, frankly, being able to focus on what we want to add and where we want to go next, as opposed to which problems we want to fix, is also great in terms of our ability to make more exciting things for our players. We can focus on the future, on moving forward, on telling stories and going to new places. It’s an exciting place to be all around.
Holly Longdale: I haven’t been at Blizzard all that long. Just over a couple of years. But to be able to see this trajectory, I refer to it as art imitating life, where COVID and all kinds of things in our history over the past few years that were great challenges for the team, the team itself was yearning for hope and aspiration and lightness. To be able to see that expressed in Dragonflight, it was a bit of a love letter from them to our players. But also a process for themselves, a yearning to be better and hopeful and deliver something really magical and grounded for the community itself. Seeing them revel in good feedback has been remarkable. They are moved wholly by the community and their reaction to what they do. It’s been wonderful for them.
GamesBeat: Cross-faction guilds are coming. What hurdles did you have to cross to make this a reality?
Hazzikostas: This is a small, still conservative step toward cross-faction collaboration. Just letting people play with their friends while still upholding the Alliance and the Horde as central pillars of what Warcraft is. When we rolled out cross-faction instances last year, people immediately jumped in and enjoyed this new experience. Many switched factions to play the faction or the race they’d always hoped to be able to play while still playing with their friends.
But then they quickly found out that if they had to leave their guild to do it, now they weren’t in guild chat anymore. They couldn’t make use of the guild bank or other shared conveniences. That became a frequent point of feedback, a point of friction as part of this new system. We see the ability to join opposite faction guilds that were working towards Embers of Naltharion as addressing that. We still want to make this an opt-in feature of the game. It’s not going to suggest opposite faction guilds to you. But if you have friends who play with the opposite faction, we want to remove those barriers as much as possible.

2023.03.11 04:40 InevitableCriticism How do I pass lead?

Since Dragonflight, when I Right-click on a character, I don’t see an option to pass lead while in a dungeon. I’ve checked over and over and it’s just not showing up.
If a person leaves, I automatically get a pop-up/option to queue up for another player, but no option to pass lead.
Some tanks are persistent on being lead and get angry if I don’t pass it over to them. Where can I find this option?
The only Addons I have are DBM, AutoLootPlus, Tidy Plates, RareScanner, World Quest List, Scrap, Pawn, Postal, HandyNotes & Auctionator. Don’t know if this matters. Thanks in advance!

2023.03.10 21:39 bigmoran Updated Solo Shuffle Tier List for 10.0.5 (March 7th Hotfixes)

Welcome to the Skill-Capped's updated Solo Shuffle tier list for Dragonflight Season 1.
This guide was made in collaboration with multiple current Rank 1 Gladiators, but is designed to represent the entire arena ladder.
Read the end of this post to learn more about Skill-Capped and its +400 rating gain guarantee.
To help understand how these rankings work, we assume the following:
S tier specs are what currently defines the meta. These represent the absolute best in each category.
A tier specs are incredibly strong, but not one of the best. These are still highly competitive, but have a chance at getting slightly unfavorable lobbies.
B tier specs represent the "average" spec, and have an even distribution of good and bad lobbies, which can make them feel less consistent.
C tier specs are generally weak into the meta and are expected to have unfavorable lobbies the majority of the time.
Other important notes:
This list is currently a projection based off the most recent wave of class tuning.
Some specs work better or worse depending on the rating bracket. We try and adjust for this as much as we can, meaning this tier list should represent the majority of the arena ladder.

Full Melee DPS Tier List

S

Arms Warrior (+)

A

Assassination Rogue (-)
Havoc Demon Hunter
Subtlety Rogue
Windwalker Monk
Feral Druid
Survival Hunter

B

Unholy DK (-)
Frost DK
Fury Warrior
Ret Paladin
Outlaw Rogue
Enhancement Shaman (+)

Changes

S Tier

Arms Warrior (+)

As a general meta update, we've moved Arms Warrior up to the S tier. Currently, the competition among melee is relatively tight, without any obvious outliers. Of all the melee specs, Arms appears to be the most consistent across all rating brackets and is able to mesh well with almost any other DPS in the bracket. Some may point to the fact that Arms struggles into caster heavy lobbies, but that is more of a general problem effecting MOST melee.

A Tier

Assassination Rogue (-)

Assa was subject to a series of changes in the past two weeks, including a slight reduction to Hemotoxin and a some additional nerfs to Deathmark, Numbing Poison, and Garrote. We believe these nerfs will be enough to push Assa out of the S tier, and will likely mean Sub will rise in popularity in the coming weeks.
For clarification, many Rank 1 players believe Sub Rogue is ACTUALLY the best spec in Solo Shuffle, but due to its relatively steep learning curve, we will be keeping it on the A tier. Just because a handful of players are making a spec work at the absolute highest rating does not mean the spec is S tier for the average player.

B Tier

Unholy DK (-)

In the early stages of Dragonflight, Unholy seemed to be pulling ahead as one of the premiere melee DPS, but after repeated nerfs we think they have fallen below the relative strength of other melee high tiers. Even though Unholy is able to deal significant AoE damage, their pressure doesn't seem to be as impactful as the high tiers, likely due to their limited control kit. On top of this, Dampening seems to disproportionately hurt DKs defensively, where many of their CDs get overwhelmed by healing reduction.

Enhancement Shaman (+)

Enhancement was on the receiving end of some buffs in recent hotfixes, which helped align their damage profile to be more solo shuffle friendly.
With that said, we think Enhancement Shaman is likely capped on the B tier. As one of the few melee DPS without an MS effect, the spec struggles to add value to many lobbies and continues to get bullied by other high tiers.

Full Ranged DPS Tier List

S

BM Hunter
Frost Mage (+)
Destruction Warlock (+)

A

Elemental Shaman (-)
Shadow Priest, Arcane Mage
Demonology Warlock
Balance Druid (+)

B

Fire Mage
Affliction Warlock
Marksmanship Hunter
Devastation Evoker

Changes

S Tier

Destruction Warlock (+)

The decision to move Destruction up to the S tier represents a culmination of two things: buffs from January/February, and its increasing performance across all rating brackets. Even though Destro might struggle into melee at lower ratings, it is proving to be quite threatening for the top half of the ladder, where its instant cast damage combined with a unique healing reduction effect gives the spec lots of kill power.

Frost Mage (+)

The Mage class as a whole is very hard to rank in tier lists, since it performs much better at higher ratings than it does at lower MMR (like Sub Rogue, due to a steeper learning curve). With that said, we think Frost is definitely the most accessible Mage spec and is proving to be quite good at navigating the chaos of solo shuffle due to its wizard like playstyle. As one of the most slippery ranged specs, it is one of the few casters well equipped to deal with melee heavy lobbies.

A Tier

Elemental Shaman (-)

Elemental is still REALLY good, but we've moved Elemental Down to the A tier as a general meta update. Despite its overall strength, it seems more inconsistent in lobbies compared to our S tier specs.

Balance Druid (+)

As another general meta update, we've moved balance Druid up from it's previous place on the B tier. After the wide spread availability of tier sets, Balance has been way more threatening in solo shuffle. On top of this, with the widespread popularity of Disc Priests, Root Beam has gained extra value in the bracket.

Full Healer Tier List

S

Disc Priest
Preservation Evoker

A

Resto Druid
Mistweaver Monk

B

Resto Shaman
Holy Paladin
Holy Priest

Changes

There were no changes to the healer meta, despite some key damage nerfs to Disc Priest. This change was likely aimed at targeting their performance in 2v2 and 3v3, where dealing damage is a key part of their success. In Solo Shuffle, Disc benefits more from its expansive kit of defensive cooldowns, rather than its ability to deal damage.
Overall the healing meta seems relatively split, with the tempo based healers taking a lead over the throughput based specs (Resto Druid and Mistweaver).

2023.03.10 07:21 CivDisWoW [A][US][Whisperwind] 6/8 M and Prior CE Raiding Guild LF DPS & Heals

Civil Disobedience (Alliance - US - Whisperwind) is actively recruiting for an experienced Mage, Shadow Priest, or Preservation Evoker for Dragonflight. We would prefer someone with either prior Cutting Edge or recent Mythic raiding experience, and are interested in finding someone who may have the possibility to flex between heals and DPS. However, we ALWAYS love hearing from any exceptional applicants, and if you believe you are exceptional, we'd love to hear from you regardless of class!

We are currently 6/8 M in Vault of the Incarnates, with 7% pulls on Diurna, and have AOTC. In Season 4, we full cleared all Heroic Fated raids, and have various progress in each Mythic Fated raid as seen on Raiderio. We are currently Realm 3rd for Whisperwind, having obtained Cutting Edge in Sanctum of Domination and Sepulcher of the First Ones. In Nathria, we were 9/10 Mythic, 10/10 Heroic (AOTC!) and 10/10 Normal. We finished 10/12 M Ny’alotha, 12/12 H, 12/12 N. Our goal is to continue achieving Cutting Edge each tier!

We run m+ other fun content every night except for Tuesday and Thursday, which are our raid nights (8p CST - 11p CST). Our Mythic Keys night is Wednesdays, and our alt raid night is Sundays!

We run m+ other fun content every night except for Tuesday and Thursday, which are our raid nights (8p CST - 11p CST). Our Mythic Keys night is Wednesdays, our alt raid night is Sundays, and Mondays we do a mix of having a night off, or BoE farming, PvP, or Among Us/other games nights! We also regularly play Overwatch.

Our schedule is:
  • Tuesdays + Thursdays: Raid Night 8p CST - 11p CST
  • Wednesday: Optional M+ Night at 8:30p CST
  • Sundays: Optional Alt/Heroic Raid Night at 8p CST

If you’re someone who wants to push keys and work on raid content in an environment that won’t penalize you for failing and instead encourages you to learn, who wants a group of like-minded friends ready to support whatever your in game goal might be, who likes shooting the breeze with a bunch of (mostly) adults, who is ready to take your playing to the next level without being condescended to, and who is willing to put in the time and work to learn and leave your ego at the door, this is the right place for you.

We are willing to pay for server transfers. Our guild bank is super stocked, and we pay for repairs 24/7. We cover augment runes, potions, flasks, vantus runes, health pots, etc.

We are also a women-run guild with a zero tolerance policy toward racism, ableism, transphobia, homophobia, sexism etc -- ALL are welcome here!! We have an extremely diverse guild overall. We are mostly all pretty liberal, in case that sort of thing matters to you.
We are community based and do lots of fun guild activities like game nights (sometimes even tabletop!), movie nights, have a newsletter, Guildie of the Month award, and are planning an irl meetup for 2023 if COVID ever chills out!
Message me in discord or in game, and I'll send you a link to our app! While we try to reply to every single applicant, note that if you do not hear back from us after applying, please consider that a gentle decline.

2023.03.09 15:02 magntone Engineering has 4 Safety specialization nodes, but there is only 3?

hi,
a blue post from January 30 , 2023 mentions 4 Safety specialization nodes to lower the malfunctioning of tinkers:
Developers’ note: There are multiple avenues of progression to increase your gadget success chance in Dragonflight, and the difference between a newbie Engineer and an experienced tinker is substantial. However, it is clear that the gameplay did not support the fantasy and instead resulted in mostly frustrating experiences. These adjustments are intended to address many of those pain-points while maintaining the feeling of progressive mastery. While we will not be sharing exact values, we would also like to clarify that an Engineer with all 4 Safety specialization nodes and a Quality 3 tinker will reach the maximum success chance and do not need to use the Calibrated Safety Switch optional reagent. We will look for opportunities to make this system more transparent in future patches. Thank you all for your feedback!
i only managed to find 3 within the profession tree directly related to tinkers:
Mechanical Mind-> 35 Points
Mechanical Mind-> Inventions -> 30 Points
Optimized Efficiency -> Generalist -> 35 Points

Which one am i missing?

TLDR: Mechanical Mind-> Inventions -> 5 Points was the one missing!
Thanks

2023.03.09 04:21 bekamercury [US][A][Proudmoore] is recruiting for late Mythic Prog!

<Special Friends> is a longstanding, midcore guild looking to recruit new friends to progress with us into Dragonflight. Throughout the guild's history, we've always striven for Ahead of the Curve (AOTC) as a baseline, and have achieved that every tier since Throne of Thunder. Over the last seven years, we've taken down a number of early to mid-level Mythic bosses while still maintaining our "casual", six hours a week raid schedule. Our goal is simply to progress as far as possible within the two raid days we have, and enjoy doing so with our close-knit community. We have a very active M+ community, with the majority of members achieving the +15 seasonal Feat of Strength regularly and pushing up into much higher levels.
Many of our members have been playing since the initial launch of Vanilla WoW and have been in Cutting Edge or hardcore raiding guilds in past expansions. Today, we find ourselves a little older and with a little more life in the way, most of us with careers and families. The majority of our player base are "late 20 to mid 30 somethings" that still want to kill bosses efficiently, but not without also having fun with our friends while doing it. Our policies are pretty relaxed, but when it comes down to raiding, we do take new content and our raid times seriously. We expect our members to be diligent raiders, showing up on time, fully gemmed, enchanted, loaded with consumables, and knowledgeable on fights (note that we will provide as many enchants, gems, and consumables as we can to members who ask prior to raid free of cost - we just ask that you contribute to the guild bank). We understand that real life is more important than a game, and occasional absences will happen. With this in mind, we simply ask that our members keep us informed on Discord in the event they will miss a raid and maintain as close to 100% attendance as possible during progression.
Currently, has a roster size of approximately 25 raiders of varying desires ranging from mythic progression to casual orientation, including a number of new recruits. Nearly all of our players have years of AOTC/mid-mythic or better experience. Roster spots for may classes are currently available, though we are in particular need of an ultra-reliable Mage. We hope to find new friends similar to ourselves, who value raiding and M+ content in a mature gaming community, to enjoy Dragonflight with and progress as far as we can. Our core has been together for many years and values the relationships we've built together as friends over progress in game. We expect everyone to be dedicated to the game and pushing the limit, but do not consider ourselves a Cutting Edge guild at this time. Finally, we expect everyone to act like adults in our guild; take responsibility for errors or mistakes you make, have thick skin and be able to take a joke, and be open to constructive criticism - we're happy to coach, but you've got to put in the effort first and foremost. That said, we're an inclusive guild that is welcoming to all - just understand that raid spots are earned, and you may be asked to sit on progression encounters if a certain composition is needed or depending on the extent of your past raid experience. We operate as a team, not as individuals.
At the moment, we are looking for raiders with at least AOTC (and ideally Mythic) experience for our Season 1 roster as we get into Mythic prog. If you're looking to be a part of a nice community focused on semi-hardcore PvE content, we are happy to chat with newer players as well, so please feel free to reach out.
Be cool. We're all just a bunch of people trying to kill internet dragons together.
You can contact us on BattleNet at:
  • Guild Master: Arriv (Arriv#1535)
  • Officer: Olvim (Istorvir#1767)
  • Officer: Tempusbane (Dreade#1346)
  • Recruiter: Ashctually (Bekamercury#1991)
Our raid schedule is as follows:
Mandatory: Tuesday and Wednesday nights 8PM-11PM CST / 9PM-12M EST / 6PM-9PM PST (Server)
Optional: Sunday or Monday raids at the beginning of tier releases, usually for Normal runs. Extra runs whenever we feel like it.
We are currently interested in recruiting:
  • Ranged DPS: High need for Mage any spec (mythic experience desired), low need for balance druid
  • Melee DPS: Moderate need for WW monk, low need for feral druid
  • Healer: would consider a resto druid with strong DPS offspec
Our historical raid progress from the last few expansions was as follows:
  • [DF] 5/8 Mythic Vault of the Incarnates with AOTC
  • [SL] 2/10 Mythic Sepulcher of the First Ones with AOTC
  • [SL] 4/10 Mythic Sanctum of Domination with AOTC
  • [SL] 6/10 Mythic Castle Nathria with AOTC
  • [BFA] 5/12 Mythic Ny’alotha with AOTC (Realm First clear [on Korgath])
  • [BFA] 4/8 Mythic Eternal Palace with AOTC
  • [BFA] 2/2 Heroic Crucible of Storms with AOTC (Realm Second clear [on Korgath])
  • [BFA] 3/9 Mythic Battle of Dazar’Alor with AOTC
  • [BFA] 2/8 Mythic Uldir with AOTC
  • [Legion] 3/11 Mythic Antorus with AOTC
  • [Legion] 9/9 Heroic Tomb of Sargeras with AOTC
  • [Legion] 3/10 Mythic Nighthold with AOTC
  • [Legion] 2/3 Mythic Trial of Valor with AOTC
  • [Legion] 2/7 Mythic Emerald Nightmare with AOTC Nightmare with AOTC

2023.03.07 07:18 EvilDave219 Summary of the 3/6/2023 Vicious Syndicate Podcast (First one of the 25.4.3 patch)

Listen to the most recent Vicious Syndicate podcast here - https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/vs-data-reaper-podcast-episode-122/
As always, glad to do these summaries, but a summary won't be able to cover everything and can miss nuances, so I highly recommend listening to their podcast as well. The next VS Report will be out Thursday, March 9th, with the next podcast coming out sometime next weekend.
General - Early impressions for the 25.4.3 patch based on 3.5 days worth of data. As always, things can change by the time the first VS Report of the new patch comes out.
Death Knight - Still the most popular class in the game, albeit not as popular as it was prior to the balance changes. Frost Aggro DK is still one of the best decks in the game, but it's no longer completely broken and it now has counters. Construct Quarter nerf did a good job of toning down the deck. ZachO recommends Might of Menethil in the deck. Prior to the balance patch, it was recommended to run it due to the mirror, but there are now other matchups where it's an even better card. Cut Brann and Astalor for it, especially since late game matchups are currently less prevalent. Playrate of Frost Aggro DK doesn't exceed 10% at any rank bracket, which is a big change from the previous patch. Blood DK has dropped off, but people still play it because they enjoy the archetype. ZachO can't recommend playing it from a competitive perspective, as it got worse post patch. Deck doesn't beat anything currently relevant in the format. At lower ranks Blood DK is high Tier 4 and at Legend it's basically unplayable. Some people are playing Unholy DK again and the deck does look better than it did previously, but it's still an inferior deck to Aggro Frost DK. Very little data on Frost Burn DK, but doesn't look good.
Priest - Second most popular class currently and wouldn't be surprising if it eclipses Death Knight in playrate soon. Undead Priest was the deck ZachO had pegged as being a potential metabreaker if DK and Shaman were nerfed, and that has held true. Currently the best deck in the game, and while it's not prepatch Frost Aggro DK levels of busted, it doesn't really have a bad matchup right now. Big Spell Mage and Frost Mage might be the only counters to the deck, but they have a small playrate right now. Great deck at all ladder ranks. The last VS list is a "perfect 29" cards, with the last inclusion potentially being something other than Voidshard. ZachO's personal recommendation is Najak for the 30th card. Low data, but very promising performance in what he's seeing so far. Hat points out that Primordial Wave was one of the things really holding the deck back. Hat mentions in top 200 Legend he was encountering people playing Bash + Starfish against him trying to hard counter the deck. Undead Priest is the reason why Might of Menethil in Frost DK is so good right now. Other Priest decks exist like Quest Priest and Control Priest, but these decks don't look great. Svalna Priest emerged as a pseudo counter to Frost DK right before the patch. ZachO says based on his limited data it looks like Svalna Priest and Control Priest can beat Undead Priest (as Hat points out, any deck with Shard of the Naaru and healing probably beats Undead Priest). The problem is the rest of their matchup spread is pretty bad.
Rogue - Rogue will be popular whenever people don't know what to play just because people will always fall back onto Thief Rogue. Thief Rogue doesn't look too great right now (Tier 3ish) and doesn't have a favorable matchup against any of the best decks in the format currently. It does go roughly 50/50 against Undead Priest. ZachO says he is seeing an uptick in Ransack being run, and it makes sense in the Undead Priest matchup since it can kill almost all of their minions. Strong chance that ZachO will put the card in the list for the next VS Report, likely that Gone Fishing is the cut for it. Miracle Rogue good at high MMRs and got better after the balance changes. Deck is floating between Tier 2 and Tier 1 right now. Deathrattle Rogue doesn't see a lot of play, but looks promising based on its low sample size. Potential Tier 1 deck.
Druid - A lot of people picked up Quest Druid prepatch noting that the deck had a reasonable matchup against Frost Aggro DK. Postpatch the deck is now favored against Frost DK and the deck looks to be competitive (at least Tier 2). Rake is an incredibly strong card for the archetype. If you want to play a ramping Druid deck, Quest Druid is the way to go. The deck does have some counters like Pure Paladin and Implock, but it's a strong deck against any deck that isn't pure aggression. ZachO wasn't a fan of the Lingering Zombie + Spammy combo in Ramp Druid, but he likes it in Quest Druid since it enables you to have a board clear and make it easier for your damage to go face. You also have Brann + Astalor + Anub as your main win condition, with the Quest being played to help you with armor gain. Pathmaker is also a sleeper MVP since it has multiple targets. Ramp Druid exists, but there's no reason to play it over Quest Druid.
Paladin - Pure Paladin got significantly better with Frost DK declining in play and is competing for best deck in the game. Does well into Quest Druid and Thief Rogue. Matchup into Undead Priest isn't great but manageable. Pure Paladin's weakness is still running into any sort of Mage deck that freezes or aggressive DK decks. Some experimentation with Purator in Pure Paladin builds but doesn't currently seem like it fits in current builds. Order in the Court already draws your Lightrays and makes Purator somewhat redundant. ZachO will check if it makes sense to run the card. Not much in other Paladin decks.
Warlock - Implock is back now that Frost DK has dropped off in play and Evolve Shaman has disappeared. Both curse and non curse variants are good. Phylactery Warlock did get nerfed with the Gnoll change, and ZachO says it may now be correct to cut Gnoll from the deck. Doubling the mana cost from 1 to 2 mana is a big change. However, its matchups did get better with the nerfs to DK and Shaman, so its overall performance hasn't changed much. Close to the 50% winrate mark at Top Legend, and significantly worse outside of it. Chad Warlock is still bad.
Mage - Mage is arguably the only class that can handle Undead Priest well. Big Spell Mage can handle the Undead Priest matchup well, but it has a limited skill ceiling at higher levels of play and it struggles against multiple aggro matchups. Anything that counters Quest Druid also tends to counter Big Spell Mage. Frost Mage is arguably the best Mage deck right now since it's a stronger counter to Undead Priest, but it struggles against Quest Druid and Frost DK. If Undead Priest completely blows up in play, you could see a rise in Mage decks to counter it.
Demon Hunter - Evolve Shaman was the biggest issue for the class since it couldn't handle an early 10 drop, and now that it's gone the class looks competitive again. Fel DH looks like a Tier 1 deck currently. It doesn't beat Undead Priest, but the matchup is close enough to be competitive. ZachO points out a lot of people are playing bad builds with Nerubian Viziers, School Teachers, and Guild Traders without running Scythe. Things could change, but for now Scythe builds look superior (by about a 2% margin). ZachO says he looked at the data, and the Scythe build is 15% better against Undead Priest compared to the bad build. Being able to run Feldori Warband and Deal With The Devil is huge for that matchup as Hat points out. The Scythe build also lets you have Silvermoon Guardian + Unleashed Fel on Turn 6 much more consistently to swing back the game into your favor. Notable that Fel DH is a Tier 1 deck despite a lot of people running the suboptimal build. The main counter to the deck is Quest Druid due to their armor gain and no defense against their win condition.
Hunter - Not a lot of people are playing the class, but the class is still viable. Quest Hunter looks viable on the climb up to Legend but does fall off at higher MMRs. Shockspitter is also trying to make a comeback and based on a low sample size it does look competitive. Some people are experimenting with a Kibler build using the Hunter Legendary weapon and swarmy beasts, but it looks bad.
Shaman - After the first 24 hours of the new patch Evolve Shaman looked fine in the data, but now it looks completely unplayable. Deck was carried by the Gnoll blowouts, which means it ultimately wasn’t a healthy deck. There's a chance Control Shaman might be viable, but otherwise Shaman looks like it's dead until rotation.
Warrior - Enrage Warrior did get better and looks like a Tier 2 deck, but do people even care? Enrage Warrior's playrate is around 0.5%. Control Warrior and Quest Warrior are unplayable.
Other miscellaneous talking points -
  • ZachO notes that right now a lot of aggressive decks like Pure Paladin and Implock look to be some of the better decks in the format. That doesn't mean this will necessarily stay this way since after a patch people tend to experiment with new decks (many of which are garbage), and aggro decks tend to punish these kinds of decks.
  • The nerfs seem effective and have opened up the field for new decks to succeed. Frost Aggro DK still seems like a strong deck, but it's no longer a completely busted tier deck. Undead Priest currently looks like the best deck in the game, but it's not busted at the level Frost Aggro DK was. Quest Druid is now a viable deck. Hat points out that Frost DK was so powerful prepatch that it made the other meta warping deck in Evolve Shaman look mediocre by comparison. Hat and ZachO both think that while Undead Priest might be the best deck in the game, this format might be okay to stay the way it is until rotation.
  • Both Hat and ZachO think we'll get the next expansion reveal next week, with the expansion being released on Tuesday April 11th.

2023.03.05 18:33 Kattsumoto [A] [US] [Emerald Dream] (8/8H) Inclusive AOTC Guild Recruiting M+ Focused Players

While we are always looking for raiders, we are currently actively looking for M+ focused players (especially tanks and healers!).

Who are we?: Conclave of Cool is a guild of like-minded individuals founded in February 2021 on Emerald Dream to provide an inclusive & safe space for all members to pursue their goals within World of Warcraft. The guild’s experienced leadership is composed of officers & leaders from a previous community who have decided to build from the ground up.

Raider IO Profile
WarcraftLogs Profile

Why us?: If you have been searching for a friendly, inclusive atmosphere that provides a safe anti-discrimination guild, we might just be perfect for you. We have cleared the Heroic Raid for every tier of this expansion so far, and we are looking to make new friends as we push into future content patches. We feel we are the perfect balance of inclusive, friendly, and dedication for fellow Midcore players.

PvE Raiding: Conclave of Cool has achieved AOTC (Heroic Raid Completion) for Dragonflight and Shadowlands. Once AOTC is achieved, we step into Mythic and see how far we can progress so long as there is interest. We are looking for fellow Midcore players who respect the time and commitment of their teammates to progress our guild forward with a like-minded mentality.

Mythic+: As well as raiding, the guild is focused on helping all members attain their Mythic+ (KSM, KSH, etc.) goals. Conclave of Cool values these small group situations to build bonds between our members outside of a raid environment. We are active in M+ on most non-raid nights, but we do an organized Keystone event every Sunday at 7PM CST.

Cross-Faction: While our preference is for our members to be a part of the main Alliance guild, we will have a sister Horde guild and cross-faction community for our members who choose to be Horde. Discord is our main means of communication, and as long as you are active there, your faction will not be an issue.

When do we do the things?: (Times below in Server time, CST)
Progression Raid Nights:
- Tuesday, 7:15-10:15pm
- Thursday, 7:15pm-10:15pm
(Please note that as we have cleared AOTC, we will be reorganizing our raid nights going forward. Times and difficulty are TBD.)

How to Contact: Please reach out and let’s get talking! I can be reached via the following channels:
  • Discord: Amnond#2272 (Preferred Method)
  • BNet: Amnond#1200
  • Reddit: Kattsumoto

2023.03.05 16:26 cohenaj1941 Are you missing the best selling opportunities? Discord price alerts can help you get the edge!

Saddlebag Exchange Discord Price Alerts

Do you check the ah only to find all your crafted goods are always unprofitable?
The price alerts from saddlebagexchange.com can help you get the edge!
Its not always a matter of what you can sell, but when you try and sell! If you look up your crafts on oribos.exchange you will likely see many price spikes when the price of your goods shot up double, triple or 10 times the normal price for short periods of time.
You can try to predict these spikes ahead of time with tools like our commodity shortage futures. However the best way to profit is simply being online and getting to the AH to cancel scan when prices are high or when the cost of your raw materials is low!
Saddlebag Exchange discord price alerts will alert you via discord when this happens! Our discord bot lets you pick dragonflight items and prices you want to monitor. The bot will send you a direct message whenever these items are above or below the prices you pick.
Its a simple easy way to learn when its a good time to get to the ah and start crafting! Just go to our price alert data generator pick the items and prices your want to be alerted on and then give the data to our discord bot with the command "/wow price-register".
Our alerts run once per hour when Blizzard updates its api data for commodities and its available for the US and EU regions.
To get access to our alerts join our discord and check out our guide on how to set up alerts with our bot.
Do note these current discord alerts go out 4 min after the hourly api updates and are best used for commodities.
______________________________________________________

Upcoming alert features planned

We are currently working on a new alert system that will trigger seconds after the api updates, they will be synced to all local connected realm api timers for all realms and will be available for sniping all items from all expansions!
Our next generation alerts will let you snipe up transmog, mounts, toys, BOA's and more from anything available on the AH!
We will also be attempting to eventually add features to snipe items based on color / appearance ids, ilvl, or tertiary stats (leech, speed, avoidance, sockets, etc) and much much more!
Stay tuned for more details to come on our mega fast api sniper!

2023.03.04 19:22 humbled91 Keep getting declined from guilds

Im a healer seeking a guild and I’ve applied to a lot that are actively looking for my class.
I came back to the game at the end of Shadowlands after a big break since WoD. I cleared Castle Nathria CE in a world 1500 guild and have very good logs from raid.
Dragonflight I’m in a casual guild and 1/8M its so slow for me. I have decent logs on a few chars, mostly in the 90s, purple and orange, 99 ilvl log. I know thats not the best metric for a healer but in the logs you’d see I w get hit by stupid things and I use health stones/ healing pots.
As an officer from a prev guild I try to meet all the requirements I would look for.
Previously in Cataclysm I was in a world ranked 300 guild and in WoD I was part of a world 230 guild to clear Highmaul.
I believe im a competent player, I rarely die to anything bad and I can play well in my role on multiple classes, im very comfortable with healing. I don’t panic, i know mechanics and can be assigned to tricky tacts if needed.
I have all the addons required in a high end guild. Raid weak auras, WA to show active raid cds, MRT for note and cds + the weakauta to go with, buff weak auras, my own cd tracking.
Ive applied to guilds world 300-2000 and still nothing. Either its a bad time or my progress is keeping me back? I had to pug most of heroic in the first weeks to clear it as my guild was not able to within the raid days.
My applications are generally long too so it could be that. What could be the issues? Obviously something is wrong but nobofy really gets back if I ask for feedback. Just want to start clearing raids again well before the next raid. Definitely will not be getting CE this tier

2023.03.02 21:35 Clapfosho Sho's First Gold Cap - Alchemical Theory

1 TLDR
2 Spreadsheet
3 A Typical Day
4 The Full Story
TLDR: I spent 2 months cashing in the basically untapped market of Alchemical Theory but now have been priced out by people willing to sell at margins that don’t make sense to compete with.
Spreadsheet - With goldcap screenshot
Sho's Alchemical Theory Crafting
Here is my spreadsheet. Feel free to use. Please note that I have 2 alchemists but that is only because I did not want to put 30 additional points into inspiration again when I was only making Q3 reagents on my Goblin. This could have easily been done with one Goblin alchemist with full inspiration points maxed out.
A Typical Day
I played Monday - Friday 9am (EST) - 6pm (EST). I started every morning by inputting the AH prices into my Spreadsheet. Next I looked at my remaining inventory from the previous day and decided how much I wanted to craft of each quality 3 reagent. Generally speaking, I would craft 200 of each item which yields around 580 (2.9*200) units of each. I spent 10-20 minutes crafting and then began the long day of cancel scanning while I do my day job. I always recrafted if something ran out, but typically it all sold fairly evenly.
I used TSM and created a group for each item and quality, then put in a minimum gold price for each one calculated by my spreadsheet. I updated this daily.
At the start of my journey I would spend over 1 million gold each morning to craft my reagent batch. This upfront gold slowly decreased over 2 months and now a full batch costs around 300k-400k. I typically would see about a 200k-300k profit per day once I had everything figured out. The margin slowly decreased as prices went down. For the last 3 weeks the profits have dwindled to less than 30k for a 400k investment. There has been a particular player who is willing to tank all the prices to below profitable in order to sell. Buyouts do not work because crafting more is quick and simple. As of this reset, I have decided to exit the market entirely. The items I sold were: Agitated Potion Augmentation (APA), Brood Salt (BS), Sagacious Incense (SI), Stable Fluidic Draconium (SFD) and Reactive Phial Embellishment (RPE).
Full Story
The Start
Dragonflight started like most expansions for me; after the release date was announced, I received a call from work telling me I needed to travel for the first 2 weeks of launch. I was devastated. This was supposed to be the expansion that I was in the first wave of crafters to market. I was all researched up to be the foremost toolsmith on Illidan (US), but I knew the dreams were a longshot if I couldn’t invest all my time and effort into rep grinding at the start. So I started the expansion on the road, playing from a laptop with an integrated graphics card, reading the game off a 10 year old portable harddrive. Very quickly I had strong feelings that my chances were dashed. When I returned home the holidays were two weeks away and traveling to see family was fast approaching. I felt like there was no chance of me making money in this crafting economy. Everyone was maxed out and my skills were still in the 80’s. I unlearned Blacksmithing and Leatherworking and picked up Alchemy for the longer flask times and a dispel in Brackenhide since I play a druid and don’t have a disease dispel.
The Mistakes/Early days
I had no knowledge of Alchemy. I always heard Transmutation (in previous expansions) was okay for some passive income on your daily CD. I maxed that out with my first 20 points only to find that I was netting about 500g - 1500g a day. Worthless in the scheme to hit gold cap. Those 20 points were wasted. Great start!
The Lightbulb
It was post Christmas now. I had been doing all my dailies, weeklies and was leveling alchemy with no real purpose. I had accrued enough knowledge points to earn Brood Salt and had just hit Valued reputation with the Artisan’s Consortium. That gave me access to Agitated Potion Augmentation (APA), Brood Salt (BS), Sagacious Incense (SI), Stable Fluidic Draconium (SFD) and Reactive Phial Embellishment (RPE). It was time to do some spreadsheeting to see if anything I could now make would be profitable even though I was doubtful. After the first rough pass at the cost vs the income it did look like it could be profitable, but I had no real understanding of what any of the crafting stats really meant. I understood that resourcefulness meant I could get mats back, but no idea how many. I knew that inspiration could proc but how did that work with multicraft? I had to learn. I tried other peoples spreadsheets but they just didn’t click, this was on me to figure out.
The Hook
In early Jan, 2023 I decided to take a plunge. I had 1 million gold from Shadowlands, it was time to put it to use. I was committed to spending it all to make this work, but it was never in danger. My first day was a reset day and it came with a lot of luck. On the morning Jan 3, I made a modest amount of 20-50 crafts of each to feel out the profitability and what the procs of multi, insp and res were like. The servers went down and then came back up. Almost immediately someone did a reset on all the prices.. Modest gains were now tripling in profit. I didn’t have all my points in inspiration yet, I had zero points in resourcefulness and my gear wasn’t even maxed out. None of this mattered that Tuesday. Everything I crafted sold seemingly instantly Quality 2 and 3. I couldn’t keep up. I crafted and sold for 6 hours after reset and made 1.5 million gold profit. I had found a goldmine. Dreams of multiple gold capped characters floated through my head.
The Comedown
Sadly, I never saw a 1.5 million profit day again. This was a fluke, an enigma that fueled my fire to pursue the gold cap once again. My spreadsheet was coming along. I had gathered all the data from my first day of crafting. I had an idea of how many quality 2 and quality 3 items would come from a craft, how many mats would be leftover after a craft and what rank mats I needed to buy. But profits were never the same as that first day.
The Switch
I maxed out inspiration and the main skill tree. Two more weeks went by and I was crafting quality 2 and 3 items with a decent rate of return. I had made between 2 and 3 million but I wanted more. I could tell that the real profits were in selling quality 3 items, but I was only getting .75 quality 3 for each craft I made. With all quality 3 mats I was at 297 skill points but I needed 300 to guarantee the quality 3. Bottom line - I had to be a goblin to make quality 3 only finishing reagents. That really sucked because I played a druid and they can’t be goblins. So I had been grinding my butt off trying to get all those knowledge points to increase my skill and my class and race prevented me from being the best. On top of that, I didn’t have a goblin anything. So I was left with a decision. Do I continue to make ever decreasing profits on my druid or do I switch it up and play a goblin. I decided to roll a goblin, but I didn’t want to level from level 1 so I took my 60 Orc hunter, paid for a race change by converting some hard earned gold into tokens, and leveled it to 70 in an afternoon.
The Rep and Mettle Grind
In order to be relevant in this part of the Alchemy game I didn’t need that many knowledge points. To be able to craft all quality 3 mats I needed 90 points total; 50 in Alch Theory and 40 in Chemical Synthesis. An additional 30 points were needed to dump into Resourceful Routines, but that was to maximize efficiency and not a deal breaker. I didn’t have much issue getting this and within my first reset I had enough points. The real issue came in 2 parts. First that I had spent all my mettle learning new recipes and buying the Artisan points. I didn’t have enough to craft my max level profession gear. Second, I needed to be Valued with the Consortium to get recipes and I was nowhere close. In order to get mettle I learned every other profession and leveled them up getting every first craft. This took some time but I ended up with enough to craft my gear and with 2 resets worth of Consortium quests I was able to compile enough. As for rep there is only so much you can do. There is the contract, the weekly quests and then I found a single quest for each profession when you learn it scattered around the world that gives 25 or 50 rep. In 2 resets I was able to gain my rep up to Valued. From starting the leveling to being operational it took about 12 days.
The Facepalm
I had my biggest facepalm moment when I realized that I could be crafting primal convergents (PC) myself for a significantly reduced cost instead of buying them off the AH. I created a calculator to determine the actual cost of each PC because you cannot guarantee quality 3 but you need quality 3 to craft Sagacious Incense at quality 3. The quality 2 PC could be resold and make the cost of the PC up to 4 times cheaper than buying on the AH.
The Conclusion
Now I had everything I needed. I made many tweeks to my spreadsheet to hone in on what I should make but there is no grinding left outside of the cancel scan. I made about 50k-300k a day on average, cancel scanning while I worked from home. I have never made this amount of gold before. I did earn the Long Boi in BFA and have always had enough gold to pay for my sub since then, but I always hovered around 1 to 3 million with no real prospects for hitting that elusive gold cap until I stumbled into Alchemical Theory.
If you actually read this - Thank you! - I hope you enjoyed my not so short story.
