This will be long, but if I don't get this off my chest I'm going to drive myself insane. I have 2.5 months left and with creeping blood pressure and worrying about kicks on my mind I don't want this to eating me.
So myself (30 f and FTM) and my husband(32 M) decided to move in with my mother for the last 3 months of pregnancy. I had a bad experience at the prenatal clinic in the town I moved from (northern BC, Canada) the medical was awful plus my husband was on break up (2-3 months a year when the oil and gas industry essentially shuts down during the first thaw) so financially and medical it made sense. (My husband is back at work now).
Anyways, my mom and me do not have a mother daughter relationship, it's non existent. She blames it on the fact that I put her through "hell" as a teenager and she never fully forgave me for lying stealing and being over all disrespectful. I apologized and did my best to rekindle everything. This was when I was 16 and again I am now 30, she never even remotely tried to help rekindle the relationship. Everytime she sees me she still brings up something I did in the past. Something that happened over 10 year ago.
She has sought after other younger females, these could be co workers who are younger or my brothers girlfriends and puts them under her wing. When I did visit she would almost always treat these girls like they were her daughters and she would make me feel like an outcast. She felt like a mean girl at school. As I got older and when I found my husband I stopped visiting all together, hardly ever talked to her and when we did visit I couldn't wait to leave again. She was always so condescending..
So this is her first grand child, and after my dad passed last September, she seems lonely. She lives in southern BC, and I lived in the north and I knew she'd make 0 effort to come up north, she never made an effort to visit my my husband and I before so why now she blamed it on being "to old" to travel (she's 49btw) . We always made the trips. After being guilt tripped basically. So that was another deciding factor to move because I'm considerate. I guess.
On to the concerns..My mom has suddenly taken a weird Interest in me and I know the only reason is because I'm carrying her grandchild, she referred to me the other day as her "baby girl" which was really cringy because it is the only time she has referred to my that way that I can remember. She went shopping for maternity clothes for me and when she asked me my style I said I'm not sure and she said "I'll just pretend to be pregnant and see what they offer ". She made a comment about her "helping " me raise the baby because my husband won't be around much( camp work oil and gas 14 days on 7 days off) and when she mentioned a name suggestion for the baby I said no husband doesn't like that name and she said "well he's not going to be here is he".
She bought my stroller, which I was hesitant to let her buy but appreciated it anyways. It's a beautiful jogger and she then goes "now I can take the baby running" I shrugged it off I mean no big deal but idk why it's replaying in my head, well all of this is.
Now the part that is going to sound awful. I have a strange suspicion my mom is going to try and idk the word I wanna use but I'll say "take" my baby over and try and raise her as her own. It's a girl btw so maybe she sees it as a do over. I also feel like that she might any day offer to adopt her from me. It's so irrational and it makes me feel like a awful disgusting human for thinking this but I cannot for the life of me shake this feeling.
Anyways, thanks for getting this far I appreciate any feed back. Lay it on me but basically I'm just venting.

 | Overall feeling: This is my first car in 13 years. Got a 2023 outback onyx XT 2 weeks ago. It's amazing so far but for the usual infotainment quibbles. submitted by pokethat to Subaru_Outback [link] [comments] I've already put on some tux mats, I installed auto-dimming side mirrors myself, and put on the rear bumper coveprotector so my dogs don't scuff it up. This is a ridiculous upgrade from trusty kia compact sedan that was threatening to go into limp mode on the freeway on the way to the dealership. I did get it a few grand under msrp, yay Costco auto program. I kind of wanted the wilderness but I didn't care for the extra cost or the lower gearing and softer suspension for my mostly pavement driving. The Forester wilderness looked awesome too but the lack of a 200hp+ option made me gravitate away from it. I figure I can do a conservative lift down the line and get some of the recommended all-terrains for most of benefit of the wilderness trim. I will say that after discovering that dual x-mode works beyond 25 mph on the wilderness and not the onyx XT makes me a bit sad because launching with it on streets makes the car seem like a rocket. Future upgrades/accessories: -Replacing factory door speakers and tweeters -Noise deadening while speaker upgrade is happening (maybe) -Auto start stop eliminator (turbo bearing oil burning paranoia) -subaru rear seat cover - Subaru wind/rain window deflectors so I can crack the windows when I'm car camping. -mudflaps (mostly for looks) -undecided on front strut bar and stiffer rear sway bar. General questions: I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to crossbars. I'd like to add a cargo carrier and another thing on top but a guide for dos and donts with the factory rails and bars would be appreciated. Apparently the stock twisty ones aren't super wide? If I get a kayak mount and put a modest kayak on it do I need cables in the front and back, and does that kill eyesight? Is the official hitch worth it? I don't feel like diy cutting up my bumper with a Dremel. I'd mostly be putting bike racks or a small cargo rack on it, maybe towing a small trailer thing one day. Would you guys recommend foagainst the Curt 2" option(s)? Are there any clearance issues with these (departure angle i think it's called)? Would I have to cut into the bumper to install a Curt hitch? Would you recommend the official Subaru mudflaps or are 3rd party nicer? Do 2023s still have parasitic drain and battery issues? I've not run it anything and I've been car camping twice already. |

I’m not a big Reddit user, but here goes. I’m a new mom, my daughter is 10 months old. I’m supposed to visit my best friend from college who had her baby at the same time. I was so excited to see this dear friend and have our kiddos meet. My flight anxiety started after a turbulent flight right before Covid lockdown happened. I’ve flown three times since then and my anxiety has gone through the roof, especially since being pregnant and becoming a parent. I booked this flight thinking I could do it. The anxiety leading up to the flight felt unbearable. It was supposed to be just me and my daughter. My husband has been with me the last few times. I started to feel like I just couldn’t do it and I cancelled the flight. I’m now taking an Amtrak and renting a car to get there. I feel so foolish. I just spent hundreds of dollars I don’t have just to not be afraid. My husband doesn‘t understand it, but is supportive nonetheless. I know I need help to address this as it’s clearly really affecting me. I’m not sure where to start. I had a therapist for postpartum and brought this up but didn’t really get much help. I’m at a loss of how to fix this. I haven’t always been afraid, I’ve flown tons. Why now and can I ever get over this…

hello fellow redditor, i’m looking to get a used bike in my area on craigslist/facebook and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions in regards to bike brand/model. My car broke down so Im looking to get a bike since it’s only 5 mins of commute but i’m trying to avoid walmart/target ones bc i’ve heard things about store bikes being unreliable at that price level. I do see a lots of bikes from the range of $150 to $1.5k. I’m a college students and I commute ~5 miles from homes. The roads near the school is bumpy but the commute mostly consist of riding on a flat bike lane. I don’t know the difference between road/track/hybrid bikes but maybe a hybrid is better? I know that my budget isn’t ideal but i don’t have much room for money since I pay for my own bills and my financial situation isn’t looking good right now. It’ll be great if i can get advice on what I can get that’s the best for my bucks. Thank you.

My husband and I had a baby 8 months ago. I myself was born in Hungary and am a citizen, but sadly don't know the language. My Hungarian mother didn't get to teach us when we were children as my father didn't know the language and didn't want to be left out (he didn't have the time to learn it). My husband and I want to learn Hungarian and give our daughter the opportunity to speak two languages, by having it as our main spoken language in the home (we are Australian otherwise and only know English). I also want to surprise my mum by speaking to her in Hungarian one day.
What apps, websites, subscriptions etc would you recommend and have had good experiences with? We won't be able to learn in person with a tutor so something online would be best for us.
