2023.06.02 15:14 LetterGrouchy6053 It makes you wonder why...

There is a simple reason some documents are required to be marked ‘Top Secret’; the knowledge of what these documents contain could present a lethal danger to our very existence.
So sensitive are these documents that a person authorized to view them must visit a ‘secure’ room in a ‘secure’ location, is not allowed to bring anyone with him, can carry no recording devices, cannot tell any unauthorized person what the documents contain, and is not allowed to take any notes, at all.
Should this person violate any of these rules he can be tried under the ‘Espionage Act’ and face a lengthy prison sentence.
There exist documents that outline our complete anti-missile defense systems. They describe the locations and security protections of our ‘Distant Early Radar’ installations and all the infrastructure required to keep it operational.
There exist documents doing the same for our ‘Patriot Missile Batteries’ which will intercept incoming missiles, as well as other defenses we can only guess at.
There exist documents that note the location of our missile carrying submarines. These platforms lurk in the silent depths of the ocean, and under the polar icecap, as well. The sit and wait, and the very fact their locations are unknown, can rain fire and destruction on any point on the globe, is the primary deterrent to any bad actor.
There are documents that identify the names and locations of our spies overseas. Since the end of World War Two we have been building an intelligence network second to none, but it all could be destroyed in a single day, should these identities be known.
There are documents spelling out our economic strategies regarding China, Russia, North Korea, and all the Middle East nations who are not always so friendly to us.
There are documents containing information about germ warfare, chemical warfare, cyber warfare, and things too insidious to even contemplate.
There are documents identifying every military installation, be it Army, Navy, Air Force, or any subsidiary force, including personnel, equipment, and armament.
These documents exist – these and many more -- detailing who knows what secret weapons, plans, strategies, responses, and nation protecting devices, and like the rest are ‘Top Secret’.
Donald Trump stole top secret documents and stored them in his office and an easily accessible storeroom. They were unguarded, and any maid, waiter, pool boy, maintenance man, chauffer, or gardener could, with very little difficulty, steal or photograph them, and send them off to a foreign embassy.
We don’t know what those documents were, (they are Top Secret) we don’t even know if he has others secreted somewhere in his many other properties. One thing we can be sure of, they were not innocuous. What reason could he have for stealing documents relating to the EPA, Federal Trade Commission, or Federal Pension Board?
The CIA, the FBI, yes; the Commission on Housing and Development? Probably not.
Some say, ‘What’s the big deal if he took home some papers?’
Think about it, in that we don’t know his motivation, it could be a very big deal.
What we do know is that he can be vindictive, petulant, and go to any lengths he deems necessary to get even with an opponent, even if the opponent is the United States Government and its citizens.
Why did he steal those documents?

2023.06.02 15:13 Real_Eyezz You can now test out snapshot.org June 7 start date

June 7 posts with proposals and voting can go live. If nothing urgent comes up, I have some fun nft giveaways I can propose and similar votes we can do.
I miscalculated setting the voting threshold at 30 votes minimum needed to pass a proposal. Most Daos are actually using between 1 to 6 percent with probably about a 5 percent average. I'm going to research a bit more before voting goes live. This could look something like 8 to 15 votes needed for beyond_uranus instead of 30. Something like that.
As of 8:48 am eastern everyone that's shared their wallet address so far, you should have a voting token now. If you're bored and you'd like to, do as much damage as you can to snapshot's beyond uranus snapshot page to get comfortable https://snapshot.org/#/beyond-uranus.eth you can't break it.
If you have not received it, you weren't with the sub when we took it fully private a short while and eligible. If I'm wrong and missed you correct me though.
If you're using Loopring mobile wallet like many of you are - you can use the wallet connect in the connect menu on snapshot instead of the "injected" option shown in the video - and you should be able to connect. If you have any issues - feel free to mention them here so i can include them in the video showing the ways to connect on mobile.

2023.06.02 15:12 camm_tess Graduated AIT and MOS-Q but still stuck here waiting on assignment

I graduated in April and was have been eligible to receive orders, but I still do not even have projections indicating where I might go. There is about 20-30 other soldiers who are in the same boat as me. I’m current on Medpros, drills have reached out, our S1 is non-existent, and higher ups have been telling us that things are in “limbo.” Just reaching to out to see if there is anything I can do to speed up this progress and if not is there something I can do to help my situation in being stuck as an IET soldier lumped in with drills treating me the same as brand new privates who just got out of basic. I’ve been in this AIT for 10 months graduating a month ago and I have already passed my one year mark in the Army. Any help or advice is much appreciated!

2023.06.02 15:12 GiantLemonade AITA for not wanting to go on a party I was uninvited from?

My (18M) girlfriend (17F) has a cousin who is turning 8 years old next weekend. About 1 month ago his mom invited me and over 300 people to his birthday party, which was planned to be on an expensive party room in our city. My gf and I both confirmed our attendence. He is a really cool kid, even though i don't know him too much I've seen him multiple times at family gatherings and we did have a pretty long and memorable conversation about minecraft once, about how he didn't know how to find a portal that is necessary to finish the game and I helped him.
Turns out that the party room the mom choosed has a capacity limit of 200 people. His mom invited many more than that because she was afraid of people not confirming, and when they confirmed, she started sending private messages uninvinting specific people. 3 days ago I received one of that messages. It was cool to me, I understood her reasoning and didn't want to create a situation about it.
But today a lot of the kids who had confirmed their attendence cancelled, including the same ones that confirmed way after me and my girlfriend. The mom reached out to my gf saying that i was invited again. However, now I don't feel like going cause I was uninvited twice (including a similar incident last year) and I just don't feel like it.
When I told my gf that I don't want to go anymore she said I was being proud and would miss out on enjoying the party with her. AITA?

2023.06.02 15:11 InternetFreedomIn Free Expression, meet Section 66A: Getting Rid of Zombies

Free Expression, meet Section 66A: Getting Rid of Zombies

https://preview.redd.it/iqq7lm3ftl3b1.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=87d13d6019026803fb8e82b23afc518efa14e524

Vagueness, Vagueness everywhere

Section 66A was a part of the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Act which primarily governs cybercrime and e-commerce in India. In 2008, the Act was significantly amended, and it was then that Section 66A was included. The text of Section 66A reads:
“Any person who sends, by means of a computer resource or a communication device,
(a) any information that is grossly offensive or has menacing character; or
(b) any information which he knows to be false, but for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience, danger, obstruction, insult, injury, criminal intimidation, enmity, hatred or ill will, persistently by making use of such computer resource or a communication device;
(c) any electronic mail or electronic mail message for the purpose of causing annoyance or inconvenience or to deceive or to mislead the addressee or recipient about the origin of such messages,
be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years and with fine.” [emphasis added]
What Section 66A does is criminalise the sending/sharing of messages that it deems offensive through a computer or any other electronic device. However, its vague and ambiguous wording allowed cases to be filed with an arbitrary understanding of what “offensive” and “annoying” are.
Some arrests made under Section 66A include for:
  • Posting comments on and caricatures of then-Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, former Union Minister, Kapil Sibal, and former Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav
  • Causing ‘inconvenience’ to relatives of Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar
  • Posting a political cartoon of West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamta Banerjee
  • Posting an allegedly defamatory tweet about the son of former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram
  • Posting a comment on Facebook about the shutdown in Mumbai following the death of Shiv Sena leader, Bal Thackeray
  • Liking a comment on Facebook about the shutdown in Mumbai following the death of Shiv Sena leader, Bal Thackeray
Several petitions were filed challenging the constitutionality of Section 66A, including by law student Shreya Singhal, the People’s Union for Civil Liberties and Common Cause. The petitioners argued that Section 66A went beyond the scope of permissible restrictions to free speech under Article 19(2) of the Indian Constitution. All these petitions were tagged together in a matter that would come to be known as Shreya Singhal v. Union of India.
Then, on March 24, 2015, the Supreme Court in Shreya Singhal v. Union of India famously struck down Section 66A.

Rising from the dead

The Shreya Singhal judgement was lauded as a major step forward for Indian jurisprudence on free speech. Despite the judgement, cases continued to be registered under Section 66A. We started tracking these cases on the Zombie Tracker— a platform built in collaboration with CivicDataLab. We discovered that over 1000 cases were registered under Section 66A, even more than before Shreya Singhal!

Slaying Zombies

IFF assisted PUCL, one of the original litigants in the Shreya Singhal case, in filing an application for directions to prevent the continued prosecutions under Section 66A, the Supreme Court had directed High Courts, States and Union Territories to reply to the application. 12 High Courts, 10 States and 1 Union Territory replied to the application, and several of them admitted that Section 66A cases were still pending in their jurisdictions. On September 6, 2022, the Supreme Court directed the counsel for the Union of India to impress upon the States the need for remedial measures on the continued use of Section 66A.
On October 12, 2022 after hearing submissions from both sides, the Supreme Court Bench, led by the Chief Justice of India, issued directions which are a massive victory win for free expression in India:
  1. The Supreme Court in Shreya Singhal has unequivocally held that Section 66A is unconstitutional. Thus, no citizen should be prosecuted under this provision.
  2. In every case where Section 66A is being used, the clause under Section 66A shall be dropped.
  3. Home Secretaries and other officials of State Governments must strictly instruct police officers not to register cases under Section 66A.
  4. All publications which refer to Section 66A should adequately inform the readers that the Supreme Court has struck down this provision in Shreya Singhal.
For more on Section 66A, what the judgement means, and why this a win for free speech, read our blog post.
Our work went beyond the Shreya Singhal judgement, we don’t back down because we know that sustained advocacy works, and we cannot do it without you. This was an important fight to fight, because most often one sees that the push stops after a judgement from the Courts is received. But with your support, we have followed up on whether the fruits of Shreya Singhal have actually been realised, painstakingly gathered the data that shows that it has not, and been able to present it to Court. As a direct result of our application, more than 30 orders, circulars and notifications have been issued by the Union Government, the State Governments and various High Courts down to the local level to make sure that this zombie is laid to rest. This is an innovative legal strategy that is only possible through the kind of sustained advocacy that we are able to provide with your support. So the next time a zombie rears its head, you know who has your back.
IFF is trying to raise 2 lakhs in 2 weeks from May 23, 2023 to June 7, 2023. We’ve raised INR 26,750. If you believe the work we do has value, donate today.

2023.06.02 15:11 Cactustxthrotwopoint 29 [M4F] #TheWoodlands - Disabled Man Looking To Fuck A Fit/Athletic Woman

Howdy!
So. I'm a disabled man. I have a mild form of cerebral palsy. What that means in real-world dynamics is that I walk with a limp and sort of stiff movement in general. It affects all aspects of my life, from public recreation (sports, dancing) to private (sex). My stamina is not the greatest and certain positions are kind off the table for me. I also can't dance very well at all or do sports.
I'm sort of fascinated by able-bodied/athletic women. Not in a "gawk at the hot girl at the gym" way, but more about how fluidly they can move. I've watched clips of professional dancers and they move like liquid. It's a kind of flexibility and freedom that I'll never really possess but it still seems really sexy and erotic to me. Like I wonder if dancers keep that level of "bodily flow" in the bedroom. To be honest I'm genuinely curious what it would be like to have a jerky, janky body like mine go down on someone more fit or athletic than me.
I unfortunately cannot host since I live with my folks, but I could look into getting us a hotel if you're not comfortable hosting. I'd love to take you out for drinks have sex after.
Send me some orange if you're interested!

2023.06.02 15:11 Extreme-Phone8255 Side work

I know this probably gets asked a lot in here, but I’m looking for advice on finding some side work as an attorney.
I am employed full time as a trial attorney with my state’s public defender’s office. It’s my dream job, but like most public interest law careers, it doesn’t pay well. In fact, I had to take a pay cut when I accepted this position. I’m not struggling but I’d like to be a little more comfortable.
As a public defender, I am prohibited from taking on clients of my own, or representing anyone in court that is not appointed to me as an indigent defendant.
I also work “banker’s hours”, Monday through Friday 0900am to 500pm. So I can’t take on any side work that would require my attention during those hours.
I was hoping to find a “ side hustle” in the legal field that would allow me to supplement my income on my own time, at my own pace, on my own schedule.
All of my experience is in the criminal Justice system.
I’ve seen people recommend document review as an option. What does this consist of ? What’s it usually pay ? where would I find this type of work ?
What are my other options ?
Thanks !

2023.06.02 15:11 anonimanente This damn thing never ends!

This is going to be a rant...
I've been living with bipolar disorder for almost 28 years and I am currently 43 y/o. That is way more than half my life. I remember when I went crazy for the first time at 12 years old. In hindsight, that was my first manic episode. I was hypersexual, aggressive, I could not sleep and was terribly confused. I remember I was very aggressive towards my sister. I remember I wanted to kill myself as early as 15 years old. I finally was diagnosed at that age, was given antidepressants at first and everything just got way worse. From then on, until I was 26, my life was just hell. Hospitalizations, 5 to 6 different meds a day, I gained 100 pounds in three months, Electroshocks, memory loss, I cut my arms through and through and now live with deep scars....Then, finally, a Dr had the brilliant to stop giving me antidepressants and that was the beginning of my recovery. Steadily, in the lapse of 12 years I took maintenance doses of only two meds, I finished college and various degrees, got married, have a daughter, got a career in education and a steady job. Lost the 100 pounds, quit smoking, lead a healthy lifestyle, exercise five times a week.... I had made it!!! I though I had beaten this disorder... But then 2020 came, and work related stress made me relapse for the first time in over 12 years.... for me it was a hard pill to swallow: I wanted to kill myself, I was aggressive, I was sad, irritable, confused, plagued by obsessions and intense thoughts that almost seemed like auditory hallucinations...
Since then, I've had three more episodes.... today I went to my dr (who I rarely see because in theory the illness was all under control) and I told him I had identified my symptoms as part of a cohesive episode. My dr just listened and took notes. Eventually, he explained that I needed to increase my dosage, that the episodes are manic in nature and that I needed to add more medication. The episodes are returning and getting closer together because the disorder is activated, getting stronger and eventually, It will grow as big as before and I will have to do the work from zero again.
He then proceeded to read what I had said to him during my first relapse in 2020 and it was terrifying... the comments I made, that person was not me. And then, my dr told me: now you see it? This is serious! You cannot ignore this and just take maintenance doses. It needs to be stopped now.
Since I’ve taking medication the whole time during the episodes, albeit, low doses; the episodes did not destroy my life… I just felt like going crazy. I never lost productivity and suffered alone in private. I bet some people figured something was amiss, but no life altering situations occurred during the episodes.
So yeah…. I am pissed and sad and I feel down. I hate this illness…. I hate it with my life. I want to be free. Not judged or stigmatized… I hate the mental pain!
So yeah…. That was my rant. I just need to accept it and look at the bright side… I can get well again… I’ve done it before.
I am thankful for this space where Incan share my feelings since no one will listen to me or if they do, I will certainly be stigmatized.
That is all… thanks for reading.

Ever wondered what it's like working for a private, family-owned company in the South?
Forgive the fact it's a phone picture of the screen; you can imagine I didn't want to take a screenshot on my work computer and leave a more definite digital paper trail
But yeah, there have been guys who physically came to the office as well. I admit I did join that just to get out of work for a while, but I definitely didn't enjoy it. I wasn't included in this email group until recently and I'm just wondering if it's possible to unsubscribe.

2023.06.02 15:10 Substantial-Slip-788 So who actually runs this "city" corporation?

Danielle West? Kate Snyder? Jess Grondin?
Its all confused and suspicious as f. Jess has her fingers in everything, but the other two dont even seem to exist. I genuinely wonder if theyre alive.
Im just curious who's been pooling resources into bearcats theyll never use for smiling black kid photo ops and pavlovian conditioning with candy in a cop vehicle of sorts, and curious as to why one cannot identify any of the >120 officers by name or number when the info should be publically available.
Someone should keep an eye out on Jess and where she, or what her money does.
Sick of seeing forever-in-construction-condo rural workers and bougie elites and hill residents or construction CEOs taking all of portlands money, and moving it to the country, while SOMEONE is overspending on militarized police when you have homeless people dying on the streets in a wave that surpasses at least 40 years of relatively NOT HAVING THAT SH*T AND THE CULTURAL CONFUSION AND INFIGHTING IT CAUSES WHEN THE PROBPEM STARTS IN LOCAL POLITICIANS OR LACK THEREOF IN LIEU OF OLIGOPOLIES AND POLICE STATES.
