I’m interested in figuring out how to break into a decent paying remote job ($70k-$100k). I have a 10 year back ground in restaurants, some as a server, but vast majority of it in restaurant management. I left that industry to pursue my “dream career” in the fire service and have been at it for 2 years working as a firefighteEMT. I need more out of my career financially and have always been of the motto “doesn’t matter the job as long as your making the money that makes you happy”. I’m willing to grind my teeth, but I genuinely want a career where I have the potential to make $90k-$150k and not have to work crazy hours, like near 70 hours weekly, including mandatory overtime, that I currently work in the fire service making $60k - $62k a year. Also, getting forced to work numerous 48hr shifts a month cause we’re understaffed severely and if we don’t we face repercussions up and to termination, is inhuman and gives me work anxiety every morning before going off shift wondering if I’ll get hit again. I’m just curious to see what folks who may have come from a similar background like mine have done and which sector they best translated their skills into. Lastly, I don’t have a degree unfortunately, just high school, but have my vocational education, extensive customer service experience, and very strong leadership skills as well. When I showed my offer letter to my HR and manager stating that there is no mention of notice period buyout, HR said then there is only 1 option, I have to serve for 60 days.
Also, my manager who is also my TL assigned me a new story the day I resigned and pressurising me to give my 100%. He is complaining the HR almost everyday and the HR is threatening me that she will terminate my employment and not give me experience/relieving letter. Kindly tell me is it possible for an employer to terminate an employee while being on notice period? Wouldn't it be an illegal termination as per the labour laws of India?
I have requested my manager and HR numerous times that I am leaving for higher studies, so please release me early since as a fresher I barely have any dependency in the team and it is difficult for me to work right now. Okay so I have looked over fair labor laws regarding tips and this is kind or specific. Unsure of the legality of this situation and wondered if anybody knows if this is legal or could point me on the right direction.
We are in Colorado. My husband works at a sort of fast-food restaurant. They pool tips and distribute them once a week amongst the crew. I was not aware of this policy, but apparently of you call out during that week on the same day as your shift, any day, they revoke your tips for the whole week and take you out of the pool.
He has serious stomach issues and was bleeding when he went to the bathroom one day last week. This is something that happens due to a medical condition, and he has no idea when it is going to flare up, and it likely flared up because of how hard they were working him and how stressed he was. He goes in today because they handed out tips yesterday and his manager says "you called in on a same-day shift last week so you were excluded from receiving tips."
So I am pissed. He is the only one with an income right now, and we need every bit of money to pay bills we are behind on until I can get my situation figured out. I just don't understand how they can exclude someone for tips for the entire week for calling out one day. They still worked that week while tips were collected. It is a way to make workers afraid to call out, no matter how sick they are, because they won't receive extra compensation. Then it is a punishment because someone had to.
The managers aren't withholding tips from workers, they are just distributing them amongst the employees who worked all of their shifts that week and leaving out anyone who had to call off without 24+ hours notice. That's the only reason I could think it would be legal is management isn't receiving tips.

Hello! May company ako na napuntahan na one of a kind. As a senior highschool gradute at na accept lang ako sa company because of connection and yet nagtagal ako ng almost 2years, na kung icoconsider ay earning na ako ng 24k monthly. Kasama doon yung mga service provided by the company (door to door), stay house (including the bills sa bahay/office na yun shoulder ng company), incentives and bonuses. Plus, may mga outdoor activities kami na bonding na sagot ng company and may mga leave na hindi ka mahihirapan basta nakipag usap ng maayos sa supervisor at sa owner.
Bakit ako umalis? I respect na corporate company sila 9am to 5pm ang time nila at ako naman ay need ko matapos ang college. In the very start I know na hindi 'tong company na 'to yung magiging stable source of income ko. They're still looking for someone na may degree and such.
Other Pros: -May mga international event yung company na shoulder nila yung gastos and pocket money + paid day na gala after ng event. -Monthly may bonding activities -Company (pure)travel na paid yung araw plus may pocket money, shoulder din yung gastos through out the travel.
Cons: -They accepted me half of my stay as working student so may mga OT ako na nagagawa pero hindi bayad. FYI, hindi 'to encourage by the management, ako lang nagdedecide kasi nasasakop din ng school ko yung supposed to be working hours kaya bumabawi. -Progressive yung company kaya lagi kang aware sa changes. -May mga instances na kahit rest day mo ay makukuha pero bibihira at hindi encourage by the management -Seasonal din yung over worked kapag may malalaking event lang.
Now, I'm pursuing a working student set up with this call center company who offers 18k monthly for seasonal account. This is my first time sa call center and makipag negotiate ng salary. Planning to up skills to be a VA and I also have my business. Still, yung company na 'to para ko siyang TOTGA.
If in the near future, nakunin nila ako at hindi pa okay ang source of income ko. I will gladly say yes.

So… kind of a long story.
2 yrs ago I landed a remote subcontracting role that really changed my income. Because of this I came with the mindset of churn out productivity by any means necessary. A year passed and I was supporting multiple teams doing work in an agile/scrum fashion. I definitely kicked ass imo I kept looking around and seeing none of my coworkers in the same boat as me which always bothered me. I thought it was a training thing but i just kept accruing more technical debt. It eventually got hard to do my best work. I brought this up to management and was told how to manage the workload (not helping at all) but no change or shift to one team. Approaching the turn of my first year, I landed a role at a pretty cool company in another state for a hybrid position, I wanted this because I’m young and single and I love remote but it’s kinda depressing for me at least. New city and occasional office life is something i feel i could use long term. I ended up reneging after sending in my notice because I got a raise and hired by my parent company. Pretty sure I burnt that bridge and lost my pto balance…
I’ve been here for a couple more months and accrued more technical debt and doing tasks that kill me daily with no end in sight. I’m out on a paid military leave which has really helped my mental state being able to focus on military tasking but I was already in the mix with another company and got the full thumbs up to start this month. The cards played out with me having to put in notice while out.
Part of me wants to just quit cuz I really hate my current position, love most of my coworkers as they have been extremely supportive and even peeped the position I’ve been in for so long. I am pretty well versed in the Linux Bash Shell / MacOs terminal / command line as my day to day involves me scraping support logs for trouble shooting purposes.

Hey accounting community, just kinda undecided on whether I should ask for a promotion.
I have worked 2 years for my current employer as a financial analyst. However, I feel like my actual responsibility is way over an entry level role should have. I not only need to do the day to day month end activities, but also need to overhaul a lot of financial process and template. I am not sure what other FPAs responsibilities in other companies are.
In my KPI, I am expected to propose + establish new processes and improve budgeting/forecasting template. Also, the company expects me to provide guidance to other stakeholders (payroll, ops) along the way (they don't have much financial background).
I kinda feel these responsibilities should not fall on a non-senior role? I feel it's unfair that I am asked to constantly improve things while others are just lagging behind even categorically speaking we are both IC.
I managed to meet KPI for both these 2 years so I intend to ask for a promotion or salary adjustment. But just want to make sure that whether there is any other qualification to be a senior? Or it's just a matter of YOE?

I typically play dps and managed to peak in plat with a couple comfort picks but I've been struggling with improving my support play. I was looking to get some info on how I could be improving with Zen. These games were in comp and between silver I to gold IV.
First game: 3-2 (Kings Row, Hybrid) S6TXJ1 Second game: 1-0 (New Queen St. Push) Y5B8JA Third game: 1-2 (Control) RCXGAX
The first game felt good on offense but had some trouble holding momentum near the last push. On defense it felt like the team did well holding down the first point, but I was wondering why exactly we lost the first and second checkpoint.
Second game I felt like I was struggling with my positioning and finding a teammate to stick with. It almost felt like I was being carried by the team than contributing. I was hoping to get feedback on why this was.
The third match felt rough. I struggled to find any value with Zen and shifted to Moira to help out with eliminations. The team struggled to adjust and the enemy absolutely capitalized on it. The other support felt the need to "tank diff" in open chat after 1st round and I'm sure that didn't help with anyone's mindset. Second round the Hanzo and I were able to make some progress but it felt the adjustments were coming too late.
My main question are: 1) How/where should I be positioning optimally with Zen to get the most value? 2) What are the best discord targets when the team doesn't seem to focus on an enemy? 3) What are good signs time to swap off of Zen? 4) How can I get better influencing a fight with Zen? *5) What is a good way to build overall gamesense? I realize I struggle with identifying who's in a 1v1 setting and helping out that character and going for damage instead. I believe I'm stuck thinking individually rather than focusing on team coordination.
I don't expect someone to watch all three replays but any tips on either of the games is much appreciated! I'm looking forward any suggestions to try out. Thanks for any contributions in advance!

Looking for any tips in order to become a bartender from a barback position. I've been currently working as a barback for about 6 months now, and have a decent understanding of the bar. My pace has improved significantly. I also have dealt with quite a bit of social and general anxiety in which I use this job as a vessel to improve so I understand that it might take me longer than others to get to a bartending position.
The bartenders that currently work at my restaurant have been there for quite some time and I don't really see much change in that anytime soon. Most of the places I look into for jobs need a minimum of one or two years of bartending experience in order to apply. The bartenders at work have offered to let me make cocktails to learn and have done. I also need some more confidence in speaking and communicating with the guests which I know is a large part of it.
Wondering if I should just stay in my current position and see if I could eventually prove to my managers that I'm capable of covering shifts on occasion to get more experience under my belt or maybe look for another place to hire me.
Any personal experience and tips from others would be greatly appreciated.

I tried to call in a couple months back the day before my shift because I got a cold. I was told to take some medicine because I could wake up the next day feeling fine ( Spoiler I did not). Basically the manager told me they were counting on me coming into work blah blah blah. I did and wore a mask but they didn't care I was sick
I had requested a full weekend off just because I needed it. Manager proceeds to say they noticed I wasn't scheduled and could I work, said no I couldn't
A few weeks back my schedule had to change for reasons and I wasn't scheduled for the weekend at all. Manager told me that was not acceptable and I had to work one of the weekends days even though several people were also off the schedule for the weekend (by choice of the front end manager) so it's not acceptable for me not to be scheduled a weekend day but you have no problem with those who get weekends off?
2 coworkers gets weekends off for no valid reason other than they don't want to and was never told they couldn't do that
I realize there are other coworkers who are not the only ones having to work weekends but it isn't fair to them to be scheduled to work every weekend with only getting them off if they requested
I'm just wondering if I should go to my union representative because I feel targeted by the manager for my schedule
