Each class has a gimmick-or "specialization"-that unlocks as you progress through the game. The Barbarian, for instance, can lug around a huge arsenal of weapons and gains "expertise" with each as you use them, granting buffs and special effects. The Necromancer can choose between different types of minions or sacrifice them to extract their power. The Rogue has three specialization options, one of which is a WoW-like combo-points system. Every class has its own personality and quirks, and they're all a blast to play.
CGMagazine - Brendan Frye - 10 / 10
Diablo IV's dark allure combines ingenious design choices to create an extraordinary Diablo that we couldn't have dreamed possible back in 1997.
Checkpoint Gaming - Elliot Attard - Unscored
Whilst Diablo IV could have done more to advance the genre or perfect its writing and tone across the entire experience, there’s no denying just how impactful this release is, especially for those of us who grew up alongside the series.
ComicBook.com - Adam Barnhardt - 4.5 / 5
Diablo 4 is perfect for both franchise mainstays and newcomers alike. The lore of Sanctuary expands drastically while the game, story and all, is large enough to keep new players busy. The game is built to allow the developers to scale it with ease with battle passes and seasons for a new generation, but it's nowhere close to being empty.
Console Creatures - David Pietrangelo - Recommended
Diablo 4 is an impressive and massive conquest of demons, loot, exploration, and wildly fun mechanics. It's already clear that this game brings tons of new content to the franchise and handles it incredibly well.
Destructoid - Timothy Monbleau - 8 / 10
Impressive efforts with a few noticeable problems holding them back. Won't astound everyone, but is worth your time and cash.
Dexerto - Sam Smith - 5 / 5
Diablo 4 is a mighty sequel, but it can feel more like a grand buffet of tasty demon-slaying treats. It offers something for everyone but misses out on that acquired yet curated taste of the older entries. This doesn't take away from Diablo 4 representing the next evolution in the series. It is a stellar sequel – and one that works hard to appeal to every fan of this beloved franchise.
DualShockers - Emma Ward - 8.5 / 10
Your favorite Action Role Playing Game is back and bloodier than ever. Diablo 4 improves upon nearly every core gameplay mechanic from Diablo 3 while introducing a few great quality-of-life features that make this journey to Sanctuary the best yet. While some of the quest systems seem dated, the main story is delivered beautifully, breathing new life into the series.
Everyeye.it - Antonello Gaeta - Italian - 8.5 / 10
Diablo 4 is a canvas on which developers could, over the next few months, paint a true masterpiece.
Fextralife - Fexelea - 9.3 / 10
Diablo 4 is an excellent game and a fantastic next step for the ARPG genre. Smartly melding Open World and Online elements with traditional dungeon crawling and loot farming, this game will become the favorite time-sink of millions for years to come.
GAMES.CH - Steffen Haubner - German - 89%
The irresistible gloom is now no longer opposed by hurdles in the form of confusing item and skill management. We enthusiastically throw ourselves against Lilith's hordes and once again sink hour after hour into perfecting our character. Overall, however, there could have been a bit more innovation.
GGRecon - Joshua Boyles - 4.5 / 5
Diablo 4 has taken everything that fans love about the ARPG format and elevated it to new heights. With a fascinating world to explore, a strong cast of characters, and purposeful combat, it sets a new standard for the genre.
The wheel hasn’t been reinvented, and is remains to be seen how the series will adapt to a live service model. Nevertheless, anyone picking up Diablo 4 at launch will find themselves playing a very strong package with plenty of promise.
GRYOnline.pl - Hubert Sosnowski - Polish - 9 / 10
What are we getting? An excellent game that reeks of a game-as-a-service, with tons of satisfying content. Diablo 4 looks like the best hack’n’slash on the market. The best h’n’s for me, a guy well versed in three previous Diablos, Divine Divinity and a bit of Grim Dawn.
Game Informer - Marcus Stewart - Unscored
While it remains to be seen how the experience handles the incoming flood of players once the lights are turned on, I think Diablo fans, old and new, are in for a treat.
GamePro - Kevin Itzinger - German - 94 / 100
With Diablo 4, Blizzard has created a genre masterpiece that does almost everything right.

Gameblog - French - 8 / 10
Diablo 4 is extremely generous. A clear evolution of the franchise and a real comeback.
Gamer Guides - Nathan Garvin - 8.5 / 10
With a compelling new antagonist, a serviceable, character-driven story, and a familiarly satisfying gameplay loop with an incredible amount of depth, Diablo 4 is a worthy entry into the franchise that threatens to burn away many hours of your life.
GamesHub - Emily Spindler - 4 / 5
Diablo 4 is a behemoth of a game, boasting a gothic world that goes beyond the engaging hack-and-slash gameplay loop.
GamesRadar+ - Josh West - 5 / 5
"After sacrificing nearly 100 hours of my life to Diablo 4, I've barely scratched the surface of what it has to offer"
GamingTrend - Cassie Peterson, Ron Burke - 100 / 100
Diablo IV represents a massive shift for the series, moving to a more inclusive and open world that is somehow as inviting for new players as returning veterans. Complexity is mixed with flexibility to create a game that is sure to consume you for hundreds if not thousands of hours. Diablo IV is the game we've been waiting for, and a return to form for the Blizzard team.
Geek Culture - Jake Su - 8.6 / 10
The worry remaining is that the balance needs to be struck well in order to maintain Diablo IV as a viable and long-lasting adventure that doesn’t lose its freshness or that the incessant rush to get more powerful gear becomes a chore rather than a thrill. At this juncture, there’s much for players both old and new to dive into, making combat and exploration exciting times, all while pushing the story forward in a new chapter for Sanctuary. The hope is that this will last, and that Blizzard will continue to support the game in all ways. After all, Lilith is coming, and all hail the Mother.
God is a Geek - Mick Fraser - 9 / 10
Diablo 4 may not be the huge leap forward some were hoping for, but it still offers an incredible adventure through a dark, compelling world.
Hardcore Gamer - Chris Shive - 4.5 / 5
Based on the franchise's history, Diablo IV has large boots to fill, but does an admiral job of meeting this longtime fan's expectations.
IGN - Travis Northup - 9 / 10
Diablo 4 is a stunning sequel with near perfect endgame and progression design that makes it absolutely excruciating to put down.
IGN Spain - Álex Pareja - Spanish - 9 / 10
Diablo IV is tremendously addictive, its combat is formidable and the character building is excellent. More MMO than ever in a new path for the saga.
INVEN - Jaihoon Jeong - Korean - 9 / 10
While the fusion of Diablo franchise and the open world sounded rather unfamiliar at first, the game has succeeded in capturing the charm of both. You can't say the game is perfect as of its initial release, Diablo4 still is one of the strongest quarter view action RPGs.
Kakuchopurei - Jonathan Leo - 90 / 100
[Diablo 4] looks and feels great to play, it's full of content without being way too overburdened with systems and age-old mechanics, it's accessible but also gets really hard and challenging for action RPG standards, and it's really great with more people in your party, with a good amount of classes to play around with and tailor to your playstyle. A highly-polished loot-filled gateway drug for newbies and veterans alike; not terribly innovative but incredibly fun to get into.
LevelUp - Luis Sánchez - Spanish - 7 / 10
Diablo IV remained stuck in the past while trying to find innovation without generating friction with fans who have played the franchise for over two decades; It feels like the ghost of Diablo Immortal continues to haunt the halls of Blizzard. The game is more of a reinvention of the classic experience, focusing on a games-as-a-service format to ensure another decade of content for Diablo.
Marooners' Rock - Andrew Peggs - 9.2 / 10
Diablo IV has done a good job of delivering an exciting and enjoyable storyline and providing hours of exciting entertainment, whether playing alone or with companions.
Merlin'in Kazanı - Samet Basri Taşlı - Turkish - 90 / 100
Diablo IV has successfully brought everything we wished to be in the 3rd game and has the potential to be the best game in the series.
Multiplayer First - Vitor Braz - 9.5 / 10
Do yourself a favor: ditch your reservations and step into Sanctuary as soon as you can. It’s likely going to be literal hell during the launch queues, but you’ll have a beautifully grim and visceral adventure ahead, one where every leveling up sound will feel like music to your ears. Enjoy it to the best of your possibilities because an action-RPG of this caliber may only arrive in another decade or so, and missing out on Diablo 4 would be something that may just reserve you a spot in hell.
Niche Gamer - Jonathan White - 9 / 10
It ain’t perfect, but provided they continue the course Diablo IV is currently on, this might be the game that bridges the gap and makes Diablo the most accessible and ultimately the most fun it has ever been to players from any background.
Oyungezer Online - Can Arabacı - Turkish - 9.5 / 10
Diablo IV is definitely one of the best games Blizzard has ever made. And possibly the best story they've ever told.
PC Gamer - Tyler Colp - Unscored
An exciting, modern version of Diablo is in here—I can see parts of it poking through the surface—but I'm starting to lose patience waiting for it to show its face.
PCGamesN - Lauren Bergin - 10 / 10
Diablo 4 embodies the essence of what makes Diablo so great, taking the best elements of its predecessors and sewing them together to create an ever-changing, ever-evolving chimera that we can't wait to play for years to come.
PSX Brasil - Paulo Roberto Montanaro - Portuguese - 85 / 100
Diablo IV is, without a doubt, a great success that takes the best of its previous iterations, especially Diablo II, and takes advantage of the potential of an intense open world. With mechanics refined for today, hundreds of hours of gameplay, and the promise of an aggressive post-launch content, this game is the ultimate in the eternal battle between evil and… the other party.
PlayStation Universe - Neil Bolt - 8 / 10
Diablo IV takes the series to new heights, but also spends plenty of time covering familar ground. The compelling rush for loot is as strong as it has ever been, and visually, the game is spectacular. It doesn't exactly feel like a massive leap from Diablo III yet its focus on the series' core strengths ensures that's likely more than enough for long-time fans.
Polygon - Alexis Ong - Unscored
More busywork doesn’t lessen the series-signature lootfest appeal
Press Start - Harry Kalogirou - 9 / 10
Diablo IV is an unquestionable win for Blizzard and one of their foundational franchises when it needed it most. An unrelenting commitment to vision, redefined Sanctuary, never-ending player progression, and excellent boss fights are just a few of the reasons Diablo IV isn't held back by uneven pacing and recycled content.
Prima Games - Daphne Fama - 9 / 10
Diablo IV is a game with a deeply involved combat system, a complex and well-established world, and all the hallmarks of my next gaming obsession.
Pure Xbox - Liam Doolan - 9 / 10
You can see why it's taken Blizzard over six years to get this one out the gate when you look at the end product. Diablo 4 is a natural evolution of the series with its new open-world design and gameplay, enhanced social and multiplayer experience, and a live service that promises to keep players returning to the world of Sanctuary for years to come. These strong foundations and scale of the whole experience, combined with the five unique classes and seemingly limitless customisation options for builds, should keep even the most diehard demon slayers busy for a very long time. With all of this in consideration, Diablo 4 is a must-play if you're a veteran of the series and it's a great starting point for newcomers. We can't wait to jump back in! Now, fingers crossed we just don't have another 'Error 37' at launch.
Push Square - Khayl Adam - 9 / 10
Diablo 4 is the true successor to the bad old days of action RPGs and oozes quality in its frenetic combat and deep, engaging character development. It tells a complex, gritty narrative set in the darkly beautiful world of Sanctuary. Even better, it provides a solid foundation for years of Diablo content to come.
Rectify Gaming - Rebecca Ellis - 9.5 / 10
Diablo IV will usher a new generation of action RPGs into the modern era with its brilliance.
Rock, Paper, Shotgun - Alice Bell - Unscored
Diablo IV is a beautiful, frictionless grey toybox that puts nothing in the way of you playing it for hours and wondering what you've done with your life.
SIFTER - Adam Christou - Worth your time
Diablo IV offers a strong opening impression. It has a rich, detailed story campaign, filled with spectacle and gore. Its combat and game-feel is so satisfying. The classes feel distinct and play quite differently from each other. It feels so good to burst down screens of demons with spells and swords. Will it live up to other competitors in the ARPG space? It’s too soon to tell, but what’s here so far is extremely promising especially for players looking to enjoy an impressive horror story.
Saudi Gamer - Arabic - 8 / 10
So far, the Diablo 4 experience has been nothing short of very good, the story has been very interesting and it finally returns to what distinguished the series in terms of storytelling before the release of the third installment. The game offered a very solid base of content, activities, addictive gameplay, and a variety of character-building ways that any Action RPG should offer. This is knowing that there are some important issues that appeared at the beginning of the experiment as we mentioned in the full review.
Screen Rant - Carrie Lambertsen - 4.5 / 5
Ultimately, Diablo 4 is a must-play experience for any fan of dungeon-crawler ARPGs.
Seasoned Gaming - Ainsley Bowden - 9.5 / 10
Diablo 4 is a masterpiece. It's the culmination of decades of ARPG refinement and evolution, and it manages to pay homage to the IP's legendary namesake while successfully integrating modern RPG elements.
Shacknews - Josh Broadwell - 8 / 10
Blizzard opts for refinement over innovation with Diablo 4, but it's still a devilishly good time.
Siliconera - Kazuma Hashimoto - 8 / 10
Diablo IV features a compelling antagonist in Lilith, and while it tries to present more interesting ideas into the series by the way of story, it ends up retreading old ground in more ways than one.
Sirus Gaming - Kimberly Mae Go - 9 / 10
Diablo 4 presents an epic and visually stunning adventure, enveloping players in a cinematic journey through its immersive open-world. While some areas, like repetitive dungeons and class imbalances, leave room for improvement; Blizzard has laid a solid groundwork that sparks excitement for further exploration of the vast realm of Sanctuary.
Spaziogames - Marcello Paolillo - Italian - Unscored
Diablo IV is a smooth-running action RPG with a beautiful gothic atmosphere and a fascinating open world, aimed even at those who have never touched a chapter of the Blizzard franchise before.
TechRaptor - Austin Suther - 9.5 / 10
Diablo IV might just go down as one of Blizzard's best games. It delivers exciting and accessible ARPG gameplay, a stunning world and engaging narrative to experience, and so many activities to keep you hooked for hours on end.
TrueGaming - Arabic - 9 / 10
Diablo IV brings you a captivating story, a lot of freedom in your class building and a massive world full of monsters to pulverize and dungeons to explore that will keep you playing for lots of hours to come.
Twinfinite - Zhiqing Wan - 4.5 / 5
An incredible looter experience overall. I cannot overstate just how satisfying it is to play Diablo IV on a moment-to-moment basis, and with so much replay value to be had from its various classes and build possibilities within those classes, Diablo IV feels like a true return to form for the series.
VG247 - Connor Makar - 4 / 5
It's a damn good entry to the series as a whole, and will give the vast majority of its players a bloody good time.
Wccftech - Alessio Palumbo - 8.5 / 10
Diablo IV is a return to form at a much needed time for Blizzard. It delivers incredibly fun hack and slash action combat, a greatly improved skill system, and a ton of things to do, not to mention the best story told in the franchise yet. It also looks awesome, sounds great, and runs well (except for rare instances of traversal stuttering).
We Got This Covered - David Morgan - 4.5 / 5
Diablo IV tows several lines masterfully, be it in its mechanical complexity or the moral ambiguity of its plot. Its greatest achievement, however, is being a great Diablo game.
WellPlayed - Ash Wayling - 8.5 / 10
Diablo IV is a must-play for fans of the series and newcomers alike. It invites you to lose yourself in a world of darkness and embark on a thrilling journey filled with relentless battles, captivating storytelling, and a hauntingly beautiful audio-visual symphony. Just ignore the extraneous limb reaching for your wallet.
Xbox Achievements - Dan Webb - 85%
Diablo IV boasts a new look, with its new open-world and online format, but at its heart, it’s very much a classic Diablo experience. A little old-school still, sure, but the core combat is still as fun and addictive as ever, and there’s RPG mechanics for days to sink your teeth into. What’s not to love?
XboxEra - Jesse Norris - 9.5 / 10
Diablo IV is a triumph. It fulfills its promise, combining the aesthetics and feeling of Diablo II with the fantastic gameplay of III. It is dark and gory, featuring a meaty campaign and endgame that should delight fans of the series for hundreds if not thousands of hours.
ZTGD - Terrence Johnson - 9.5 / 10
Diablo 4 is a massive game dropping in a year chock FULL of massive games. 2023 has already seen Nintendo’s behemoth drop by way of Tears of the Kingdom which has been dominating charts and peoples’ times. Now Diablo 4 is going to come bursting in and demanding that same type of time commitment with a sprawling game world to explore on foot or horseback. Between dungeons, world events, side quests and even the main quests players will never be too far from something interesting to inspect or kill in Sanctuary. Diablo 4 feels like a wonderful homecoming, with its darker tone and sublime cutscenes which Blizzard has always been wonderful at; the whole game just feels like a love letter to us fans who have waited so long to return to Hell and defeat its denizens once more.

We Got This Covered - David Morgan - 4.5 / 5

CGMagazine - Brendan Frye - 10 / 10
Diablo IV's dark allure combines ingenious design choices to create an extraordinary Diablo that we couldn't have dreamed possible back in 1997.
GameSpew - Richard Seagrave - 10 / 10
We had high expectations for Diablo 4, and we’re so happy to say that Blizzard has smashed them. This is a title that takes Diablo 3’s meaningful quality-of-life improvements and expands upon them with aplomb, while also bringing back the much-loved look and feel of Diablo 2. All the while, it’s not too focused on the past, taking the series into open world territory and making it more story-led than ever before. And what a story it tells: we never expected to be so invested. But more importantly, we can’t wait to start a new character and jump once again into the endgame. Diablo 4 is devilishly good – the best Diablo game yet, in fact – and it only stands to get better.
PCGamesN - Lauren Bergin - 10 / 10
Diablo 4 embodies the essence of what makes Diablo so great, taking the best elements of its predecessors and sewing them together to create an ever-changing, ever-evolving chimera that we can't wait to play for years to come.
VGC - Jordan Middler - 5 / 5
Diablo 4's always-online requirement is a shame, and a few of the classes are somewhat slow to kick into high gear, but we're only able to muster minor complaints for what is easily a game-of-the-year frontrunner, and Blizzard’s best game since Diablo 3.
VideoGamer - Ford James - 10 / 10
Diablo 4 feels like the apex of the series, bringing together everything great about the previous entries. It isn't without its minor flaws, and the success of the endgame content is still up in the air, but for once Diablo has a gripping story, phenomenal graphics, and a gameplay loop that doesn't innovate too much but is certainly better than its predecessor.
Windows Central - Jez Corden - 5 / 5
Simply put, Diablo 4 may be Blizzard's best-ever game, and that's a really tough legacy to live up to. Immaculate storytelling meets stunning art, polished, bug-free gameplay, atop endlessly customizable combat with the promise of dozens, maybe hundreds of hours of content — Diablo 4 might be Blizzard's most important, pivotal game since World of Warcraft. Do yourself a favor and go in completely blind. Even if you're not a typical fan of isometric action RPGs, I'm confident that you won't be disappointed.
Oyungezer Online - Can Arabacı - Turkish - 9.5 / 10
Diablo IV is definitely one of the best games Blizzard has ever made. And possibly the best story they've ever told.
Rectify Gaming - Rebecca Ellis - 9.5 / 10
Diablo IV will usher a new generation of action RPGs into the modern era with its brilliance.
TechRaptor - Austin Suther - 9.5 / 10
Diablo IV might just go down as one of Blizzard's best games. It delivers exciting and accessible ARPG gameplay, a stunning world and engaging narrative to experience, and so many activities to keep you hooked for hours on end.
COGconnected - Mark Steighner - 94 / 100
Diablo IV is the true successor to the second game, returning the franchise to its dark, gothic roots with a wild, operatic narrative and bold characters. Gameplay is as addictive as ever, and the sprawling campaign is only the start of a massive amount of content to experience. While Blizzard keeps nudging Diablo’s design towards MMORPG-style multiplayer and co-op, there’s no lack of fun for solo players, even if some bosses are better with friends. With off-the-charts production values and compelling characters and combat, Diablo IV is just about as good as the genre can get.
GamePro - Kevin Itzinger - German - 94 / 100
With Diablo 4, Blizzard has created a genre masterpiece that does almost everything right.
Marooners' Rock - Andrew Peggs - 9.2 / 10
Diablo IV has done a good job of delivering an exciting and enjoyable storyline and providing hours of exciting entertainment, whether playing alone or with companions.
Forbes - Paul Tassi - 9 / 10
Though in theory, an “endgame” playthrough of Diablo 4 is probably 100-200 hours across a larger span of classes, I feel like I can judge what I’ve seen. My impressions are overwhelmingly positive based on what I’ve experienced so far, from the map to the gameplay to the new systems to even the story, which I was not expecting. Blizzard really seems like they’ve nailed this, and I’m going to say the only way this will be poorly received at launch is if technical issues kill people’s ability to play. But once it gets rolling? Yes, I think you’re going to like Diablo 4.
Game Rant - Shane Robert Moyer - 4.5 / 5
Blizzard has taken twenty years of game design lessons and put all of them into Diablo 4. The variety of things to do in the game and the plethora of build choices feel like they come from a company that has experienced the highest highs and lowest lows in game development and taken some of those hard-learned lessons to heart. There is a lot of love built into every aspect of Diablo 4, and users will find it in every system and corner of Sanctuary. With the first simultaneous release on PC and consoles in the series' history, Diablo players are finally getting back into the fight between Heaven and Hell, and they will more than likely still be fighting for many years to come.
Hobby Consolas - David Rodriguez - Spanish - 90 / 100
Diablo 4 is the triumphant return of the saga. The game manages to bring back the dark style of Diablo II while boasting a good narrative, gameplay as addictive as ever and some interesting novelties. It only remains to be seen how Blizzard will keep the game, but we can say that the time-eater has returned in style.
Merlin'in Kazanı - Samet Basri Taşlı - Turkish - 90 / 100
Diablo IV has successfully brought everything we wished to be in the 3rd game and has the potential to be the best game in the series.
Niche Gamer - Jonathan White - 9 / 10
It ain’t perfect, but provided they continue the course Diablo IV is currently on, this might be the game that bridges the gap and makes Diablo the most accessible and ultimately the most fun it has ever been to players from any background.
Screen Rant - Carrie Lambertsen - 4.5 / 5
Ultimately, Diablo 4 is a must-play experience for any fan of dungeon-crawler ARPGs.
We Got This Covered - David Morgan - 4.5 / 5
Diablo IV tows several lines masterfully, be it in its mechanical complexity or the moral ambiguity of its plot. Its greatest achievement, however, is being a great Diablo game.
WellPlayed - Ash Wayling - 8.5 / 10

Destructoid - Timothy Monbleau - 8 / 10
Impressive efforts with a few noticeable problems holding them back. Won't astound everyone, but is worth your time and cash.
Digital Trends - Gabriel Moss - 4 / 5
Diablo 4's wealth of loot and meaningful customization systems make up for most of its frustrating MMO concessions.
GameSpot - Alessandro Barbosa - 8 / 10
Diablo IV's surprisingly moving and engrossing story encapsulates gameplay systems that have learnt all the right lessons from entries past.
Gameblog - French - 8 / 10
Diablo 4 is extremely generous. A clear evolution of the franchise and a real comeback.
GamesHub - Emily Spindler - 4 / 5
Diablo 4 is a behemoth of a game, boasting a gothic world that goes beyond the engaging hack-and-slash gameplay loop.
VG247 - Connor Makar - 4 / 5
It's a damn good entry to the series as a whole, and will give the vast majority of its players a bloody good time.
Ars Technica - Aaron Zimmerman - Unscored
Each class has a gimmick-or "specialization"-that unlocks as you progress through the game. The Barbarian, for instance, can lug around a huge arsenal of weapons and gains "expertise" with each as you use them, granting buffs and special effects. The Necromancer can choose between different types of minions or sacrifice them to extract their power. The Rogue has three specialization options, one of which is a WoW-like combo-points system. Every class has its own personality and quirks, and they're all a blast to play.
Checkpoint Gaming - Elliot Attard - Unscored
Whilst Diablo IV could have done more to advance the genre or perfect its writing and tone across the entire experience, there’s no denying just how impactful this release is, especially for those of us who grew up alongside the series.
Console Creatures - David Pietrangelo - Recommended
Diablo 4 is an impressive and massive conquest of demons, loot, exploration, and wildly fun mechanics. It's already clear that this game brings tons of new content to the franchise and handles it incredibly well.
Game Informer - Marcus Stewart - Unscored
While it remains to be seen how the experience handles the incoming flood of players once the lights are turned on, I think Diablo fans, old and new, are in for a treat.
PC Gamer - Tyler Colp - Unscored
An exciting, modern version of Diablo is in here—I can see parts of it poking through the surface—but I'm starting to lose patience waiting for it to show its face.
Polygon - Alexis Ong - Unscored
More busywork doesn’t lessen the series-signature lootfest appeal

2023.05.26 22:07 SoarFlyer Budget King build advice

My old and unstable PC finally died, and I'm looking for new guts for the case.
My 3 1080p 60fps monitors are fine for me. I do some moderate gaming and heavy Photoshop/Clip Studio drawing. I've been severely limited on canvas resolution, and going minimum settings sub 900p on new games sometimes isn't enough, even for 30fps. I don't want to think about these issues anymore 🙁. For a decent while, preferably.
i5 12400f - $150
XFX RX 6600 8gb - $210
GIGABYTE B760M DS3H AX - $140
(Same 16bg RAM and 500W PSU)
I think this build is good enough for my needs, I just want to know if there are any cheaper alternatives that don't sacrifice too much, or if there's something I'm missing from being out of the loop on PC parts for ~8 years.
I'm upgrading from this:
i5 4460
EVGA 750 Ti 2gb
MSI H81M P33
16GB DDR3
Upgrades come to ~$500. I'd rather not spend more unless it'll really make a difference in this machine's effective lifespan.

2023.05.18 23:09 jiorico Dedicated PSU for GPU 2 PSU in one PC using add 2 PSU adapter

Hello PC building experts, my plan is to have a high wattage rating PSU but I would not prefer to spend big money on a 1200W+ PSU.
I currently just own a cheap 850W PSU and it worked flawlessly for me for 3+ years now.
I am wanting to just buy another one of the same PSU and "bind" them using an add 2 PSU adapter. The main PSU sends a signal to the adapter so that it'll fire up the 2nd PSU right after turning the 1st one on.My goal is to have a dedicated PSU only for the GPU. All other components will get power from the main PSU.
My main concern is that I am not sure if doing this approach will fry my GPU. I am worried because the GPU connects to the PCI-E x16 which supplies it power as well as from the PCI-E cables. So basically the GPU gets power from the 1st PSU and the 2nd PSU.
Is this safe and doable? Thank you so much.
Here is a simple diagram of what I am planning to do ⬇

2023.05.17 17:25 tumbleweedchatterbox Canadian build for light gaming and productivity

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
I think I will primarily use this for gaming. Games I like to play the most would be Returnal, Age of Empires (2 or 4), Borderlands, maybe CoD. Web stuff - Canva, general productivity.
Light data processing tasks using FME - probably not much more than 1000 records.
One day I might sort myself out and get some Linux/Kubernetes certificates. This might involve running a cluster locally and possibly dual-booting Ubuntu.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
$1000-1700CAD, would prefer less as my MacBook is dying and those are $$ and I still need a laptop for on the go. This build will stay at my desk.
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Next couple of weeks
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
No peripherals, I have monitors/trackpad/keyboard etc Might need Windows
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
Canada
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
I have an msi geforce rtx 3060 which I could use. Not sure if Returnal performance would could be better or save this to upgrade in the future.
Currently have a dell precision t5610 and the 3060 was as high as I could go. I don’t think there’s any parts in that worth keeping.
If I can reuse graphics card now to save money I can do that, as long as the new build will allow me to upgrade gpu in the future.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
No
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
For the Kubernetes stuff if I do that 32/64 RAM would be nice. Probably 2TB SSD.
Wifi.
I’d prefer to make it more future proof - with my dell I got limited by PSU and CPU and I cant upgrade much further - easier to do a new build.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Preference is for a white case, or white and something. Wouldn’t mind lighting or a window. Don’t mind a bit of colour either.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Possibly…. I might have a product key already somewhere.
Extra info or particulars: If for the money I’d be better off saving up more money to build a better system in the future (1 year time) that’s a valid viewpoint and I’ll just prioritize investing in a new Mac book air to replace my dying 7yo macbook. I’d also be open to budget recommendations for my requirements. My dell is ok but it doesn’t play Returnal as well as my boyfriends PC.

2023.05.09 23:07 Claylex Need help regarding PC freezes when I stream

So in a nutshell what's going on: I'm a streamer, have a decent thing going on with it, and it's been fun for the past decade or so, the ISSUE is every once in a while my PC just likes to crap itself and freeze due to some specific game/s I play (In this case Team Fortress 2, was playing the SF6 Demo for the first time when it froze).
It's so bad I have to unplug the PSU cable WHILE IT'S STILL ON for the PC to work again.
I'll put out my PC specs and my current OBS settings
PC Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 1800x CPU
Mobo: ROG CROSSHAIR VI HERO (WI-FI AC)
Memory/Ram:
Kingston HyperX 2666 C15 2x16GB
HD: 2 TB
SD: 1 TB 960 Samsung Pro
GPU: 1080 TI (Gigabyte)
PSU: EVGA 1000W
OBS Settings I use:
Base/Scaled Canvas: 1920 x 1080/1280 x 720
Downscale Filter: Bilinear
Common FPS Value: 30
Video Encoder: NVIDIA NVENC H.264
Rate Control: CBR
Bitrate: 2500
Keyframe Interval: 2
Preset: P3: Fast (Low Quality)
Tuning: Low Latency
Multipass Mode: Two Passes (Quarter Resolution)
Profile: High
Psycho Visual Tuning: On
GPU: 0
Max B-Frames: 2
The only theory I can put in on why my PC freezes is mainly either cause of the games I'm playing or one of my PC parts is causing it. Other then that I'm not sure, sorry.

2023.04.21 14:16 halluxx Penn State Scanning Operations closing down due to budget cuts

This email went out yesterday from Angela Linse, Executive Director of the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence and Associate Dean for Teaching:

Colleagues,
I am sorry to have to inform you that Scanning Operations will be closing at the end of spring semester. Please know that this was a difficult decision, but is the culmination of more than a decade of decline in the use of our scanning services. As students and faculty returned to campuses during the pandemic, use of scanning services declined even more. While I understand that scanning is important to you, the current number of faculty using scan sheets is only 10% of the volume of 10 years ago. We have been contemplating closure for some time. Recent budget cuts determined the timing of the closure.
I realize this will upset some of you, the Interim Provost and the Vice President and Dean of Undergraduate Education fully support and approve of this decision.
Please do not contact the staff in the Testing Center about this decision. They have enjoyed working with you over the years and will miss providing scanning services to you, but they more than anyone else know how much the workload has decreased.
Today, instructors have more online testing options including HonorLock, Examity, and ExamSoft, and Extegrity, all of which are approved courseware for Penn State but require a license. If your unit prefers to use bubble sheets, some Gradescope licenses can accommodate scan sheets. Scantron and other companies also offer small scanners for self-scanning. University Park faculty may also consider the Pollock Testing Center for administering exams through Canvas. We will be updating our etesting practices to allow us to schedule more exams in the Testing Center. However, you may need to consider more frequent testing.
Finally, I want to let you know that the instructional consulting faculty of the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence are ready to help with this transition and eager to discuss alternatives. I have asked our assessment expert, Dr. Mary Ann Tobin, to be your point of contact at the Schreyer Institute. Feel free to schedule an in person or virtual consultation with her or email her. If you have worked with another of our faculty consultants, you are also welcome to reach out them.
Again, I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but feel free to contact me directly at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).

2023.04.21 02:06 kamii102 Quality looking weird with 5900x x264 encoding while streaming

Hi!
I'm a small iRacing streamer and somehow my quality has been bugging me
The quality as seen in the VOD is weird for being at 1080p60, 6500kbps and my encoder being set to slow (main profile)
I am using my Ryzen 9 5900x to encode so i have my GPU fully working on iRacing to get the most out of my 144hz 49'' ultrawide, also the sheer fact that my 5900x would be bored out of it's mind without OBS encoding the stream
Specs and some more settings:
OBS Settings:

Would love to hear back with any help i can get!!

2023.04.20 15:37 Royal-Perception-159 Struggling With SRGB WLED Mod

Struggling With SRGB WLED Mod
So I've tried quite a bit to solve this problem myself but nothing has worked. I have been adding more LEDs onto my ESP32, and am using a raspberry pico w to transmit SRGB's signal to WLED. Once I got the power running on both sides of the 300 LED strip, everything worked perfect when linked. And I was even able to add 144 more on my ceiling about 3m-4m distance from the PSU and the same distance for the data running out the back end of the strip. But for some reason when I tried to add another 60 LED strip chained to the 144, there was flickering whenever they linked to SRGB, just on the first two leds on the strip.
A couple things I have tried is separating the data lines between GPIOs, adding resistors or a level shifter to my data lines, and getting equal power to all LEDs by running the PSU into both sides, but no matter what I try my results are the same. I currently have switched the strip to string lights, and am running 300 off GPIO4, 144 off GPIO12, and 50 off GPIO22, all synced to signalrgb. Each line has 220ohm resistor in the data line, and is running through a breadboard. My PSU is a 200W Meanwell, and I am running one positive and ground into both sides of the strip, and one into the string lights (I have also tried having different numbers of unique draw from the PSU all with the same effect). The string lights are dim on the other side so I'll probably close that circuit on the other side.
UPDATE: It's actually the first six LEDs I hadn't noticed some were behind my canvas. Anyway I also noticed by switching the GPIO order that it seems to specifically be LEDs 145-150 on WLED, no matter which product is in that range. It only happens on SRGB mod otherwise it works fine. The flickering after about 45 seconds actually has them flash off momentarily.
NEW UPDATE: If I use a custom bus and skip 445-450, then the flickering stops. But now I don't know how to fix the fact that this turns off the last six LEDs on the string lol.
ANOTHER UPDATE: I found a temporary fix! I lose the ability to add further individually controlled lights to SRGB in the process, but if I set the custom bus of the last fifty lights to end at the same time as the strip before it (so 394), then the flickering is gone and all lights are on and synced. If anyone has a better solution I'd love to hear it, otherwise if someone else is struggling hopefully this post can give them some insight.
FINAL UPDATE: I found a full solution! If I reinstalled the mod on the pico with 56 LEDs on channel 4, then set the third bus to start at 450, everything works perfect. Strange how bus 445-450 do that with the layout I had I tried another one and got way more flickering. Anyway hope this helps someone, have a good 4/20 everybody, smoke one for me lmao
Here is some reference:
ESP32 is being powered via USB I have also tried powering it from the strip or from one of the PSU lines but no different results. Resistors are running on the breadboard.
PSU and powegnd lines.

Beginning of string lights (see flickering).
Anyway, any help as to identifying and resolving the issue would be much appreciated.

2023.03.22 11:38 AdAmbitious8777 Losing 100fps in game when activating replay buffer, recording, or streaming using software encoding

I have been trying to fix this for ages and no result. I userstand some some fps drops might be normal when streaming but 100fps seems a bit extreme considering OBS is suppposed to be using CPU as encoder. I play most games at 250fps at 2560x1440 resolution. OBS uses less than 20% of CPU, and the overall CPU usage is 50% at most. The RAM is also not used that much. Since I use higher bitrate for recording, I can't even enjoy the game if I turn of replay buffer. Is this the best I can get from OBS? I appreciate any tips.
**Here is the PC Specs:**MoBo: B550 Vision D-P
CPU:AMD Ryzen 9 5900x
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3080ti
RAM: 4x Corsair Dominator Platinum 8GB DDR4 3600MHz
Storage: Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1TB
PSU: Corsair RM850x
Here is my streaming setting:
Base canvas: 2560x1440
output: 1920x1080
Downscale filter: LanczosCommon FPS Values: 60Encoder: x264
Rate control: CBR
Bitrate: 6000 Kbps
CPU preset: veryfast
Profile: high

Edit: some extra info. I get a inconsistent 110fps average when encoding. This is more than 100fps dropping in-game.There are no skipped frame. I get some very low percentage of skipped fram due to rendering/encoding lag (I don't remember which one exactly by it's less than 0.5% if I restart my pc before starting the stream. For some reason I get up to 3% skipped frames when I don't restart the PC beforehands but that's not the main issue for me. I will upload a log file later tonight.

2023.02.11 22:54 RedMeddit [USA-WI] [H] EVGA 1000W G2 Gold PSU, EK 240 AIO, Lian Li Strimer Plus Triple 8 pin [W] PayPal, local cash

Photos and timestamp: https://imgur.com/a/QUaMqlS
EVGA 1000W G2 Gold PSU with all original cables. Cables and list of cables from the manual are included in the photos. Canvas cable bag included. Purchased in 2014, well-used, but was working well when last used in 2020ish. Upgraded to new PSU when building new computer. $50 local, $80 shipped. Disclaimer is that I have not checked the function since building the new computer and do not plan to check before selling. There's no reason it should not work, but I'd rather not sell than bother with checking again (hence the cheap price). SOLD
EK 240 AIO basic, no RGB. Used for about one year without issue. Switched to air cooler because I began running a 24/7 server, didn't want liquid in my computer while unattended (even though the AIO was performing perfectly). $80 local, $110 shipped. SOLD
Lian Li Strimer Plus Triple 8 pin. Used for about one day about 1 or 2 years ago, decided it wasn't my style. Procrastinated resale. Not selling individually at this time, will package with the other two if they are bought by one seller at the same time. Free gift to encourage sending fewer packages and spend less time at USPS. Total price for all three would be $130 local or $190 shipped.
Local is 53213. Shipping will be via USPS priority, must pay PayPal invoice before I ship. First come first served, but someone buying everything all at once will be given priority.

2023.02.03 03:25 xBearDugo Help! Desktop CPU Recommendations for less than 70k Budget

EDITED: Added canvas prices and lowest price stores. Also looked at Digi-serv (lazada)/Dynaquest/PCHub/Other random lazada/shoppee stores
Last time I built a pc was over a decade ago and I'm feeling lost sa current trend so I'm seeking help.
What are you using the system for? Gaming/Video or photo editing/Streaming
The best I could build for now is this:

CPU Ryzen 7 - 5700X 11573 TechMovers Need for future proofing + need more processor for multitasking especially when doing work. Ryzen 5 5600X, close second but not sure if I could sacrifice cores.
Mobo Msi MAG B550 Tomahawk Max Wifi 10700 EasyPC
GPU MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GAMIING Z TRIO 8G (LHR) 30837 TechMovers Wanted at least 3060 Ti so I could do AAA, need reco if there's a cheap 3070 alternative. Best benchmark from the research I did.
RAM Adata XPG Spectrix D50 16GB 3168 EasyPC Cheapest I got. Could possibly fit in 32GB if budget allows (or would it be overkill?)
SSD Crucial P3 Plus 1tb M.2 SSD PCIe NVMe Gen 4 4950 Lazada? At least 1TB M.2 NVMe. Cheapest I got from looking.
PSU Gigabyte P650B 650W 80+ Bronze 3071 EasyPC Cheapest I got and based on research for 5700X and 3060Ti, 650W is enough.
Chassis DarkFlash DK431 Mid Tower Black Case, Free 4 Fans 3498 Lazada Least concern depending on how much is left (looking at DarkFlash DK431 but please recommend if anything's bettecheaper)
Case Fans DarkFlash C6MS RGB White frame, 3 pack 1025 Least concern (looking at additional 3in1's)
CooleAIO -- Is this overkill if processor has stock fan?
Thanks for taking the time to read the post. Nakarami na rin ako ng research (esp. on GPU) and di ko lang sure kung kaya ng budget. Current standing with all items above + chassis and case fans is around ~68k so di ko sure kung pasok na.

2023.01.26 18:42 JeffersonDarcy9 Tips on building a super silent PC

Calling upon the collective knowledge of this sub on building a PC so quiet you wouldn't notice it was even turned on.
I currently have an old machine, a pre build Medion with an Intel i7-4790 and a GTX 760 that runs windows from a 256gb SSD and has 16gb of 1600mhz DDR4 ram.
It runs surprisingly well given most of the hardware is from around 2015 if I'm not mistaken, it starts up pretty quickly and does most of tasked pretty smoothly.
However, it is too loud because the cheap PSU and other crappy fans are just old and where never really quiet even when it was brand new.
I'm planning on building it with second hand parts as much as possible, probably a b450 combined with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a gtx 1070. My main use is going to be Adobe Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop, I'm not going to be gaming on it. I'm hoping the jump from 1600mhz to 3200mhz and the 1070 will help with larger photoshop files (I notice it has a hard time dealing with those sometimes, it gets laggy when dragging stuff around on the canvas)
Any tips regarding choice of case, cpu fan and basically any other advise and tips for a silent build are welcome.

2023.01.12 03:30 Emmett_Tan Whaley Bundle (41 Canvas Squares) doesn't come with enough PSU?

I recently bought this bundle on sale, about to set these up but appears that according to the manual, one PSU of 24w will power 25 panels, meaning that I don't have enough power to light up all 41? Am I supposed to purchase another PSU separately or is there something I'm missing? Did this bundle really not come with enough power supplies

2023.01.05 19:53 polkadotchas Does PSU School of Business suck this bad or do I just have bad luck?

I'm on my 4th term at PSU and i've had the worst experiences with instructors at the School of Business. They either don't respond, don't read your emails before responding, treat you like an idiot and/or make the classes 10x more difficult than they need to be. Being online only, checking instructor ratings doesn't help because you often only have one option. I've had to redo a final at the last minute because of lack of information, had a midterm where 20 pts of the exam told you to open a window you couldn't open with Procotorio, a final where all the questions were wrong and the instructor had to apologize and gave us all credit. A ton of broken links in canvas and/or outdated information from when they were in D2L. Last term broke my 4.0 because of the finance teachers horrid teaching style as well as grading with an insane curve so that nearly the entire class failed the final, he pulled the course off canvas and then our grades randomly jumped back up 1-2 letter grades but we couldn't see why. Another class the instructor didn't submit my grade so I got a M and had to bug the registrar about it.
This term the instructor just changed the textbook 4 days before class starts after i've already purchased it (and opened it, my bad but I was trying to be prepared since I may not have wifi on Monday). Super cool to be out $90.00 and already have a bad taste in my mouth. I know this post comes across as whiny and negative when I truly am not normally like this, I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but going 40k in debt to have to deal with one thing after another each term is SO frustrating! I went to PCC the first 2 years and didn't have nearly as many issues. I don't know if i'm just running into bad luck of the draw of if it's all like this but 0/10 don't recommend PSU School of Business so far.

2022.12.24 22:59 Thicccchungus Two different issues: OBS starts as a small window in top left of my monitor, and one specific obs-browser-page.exe uses upwards of 10% CPU even when not streaming.

TLDR: biggie problems pls help, second one more important cuz actually making streaming difficult for my PC to handle.

OBS Starts as small window in top left of monitor

I am NOT talking about the desktop capture or the canvas, those both look good on stream and capture my whole main monitor. I am saying that OBS starts as a small window in the top left of my monitor, but looking at the ... things... in the top right of the window (minimize, maximize, close window) it shows the maximize button saying that OBS is already maximized, but obviously isn't since it's not fitting to the whole screen.

obs-browser-page.exe uses upwards of 10% CPU even when not streaming

Out of the 6 of these processes (5 when not streaming), one specifically uses an amount of CPU that is actually making my games run like... well... shit. I have tried using task manager to end the task while streaming, and I had a friend watch my stream to test if it makes any difference or if it's just a bugged plugin or something. Task ending the .exe would make my stream so choppy that it was probably something like 1 frame every 5 seconds. THIS IS THE PROBLEM THAT IS MORE IMPORTANT SINCE IT IS MAKING MY PC STRUGGLE TO STREAM GAMES WHILE HAVING MORE THAN JUST THE GAME, OBS, AND DISCORD OPEN.

Specs and other details: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X (outdated, I know, I'm working on getting a 5600) RTX 2060, being replaced by a 3060 ti in about... 15 hours?? 2x8gb DDR4-3200 1x1TB Nvme SSD 2x500GB Sata SSD Shitty 500W PSU that somehow hasn't failed me yet 250-350mbps up/down through ethernet Streaming to Twitch at 1080p/60 with NVIDIA NVENC encoder with the best settings I can manage without boiling my GPU.
Let me know if there is any more information you might want, but I don't think these are hardware related issues.

2022.12.17 03:20 ItsDaJuice I’m signing up for classes and am having trouble judging the work load.

I’m coming from Park University Online where each semester is 8weeks long. They cram all the stuff in a course into 8 weeks and there is usually a quite a few things to do each week. Transitioning to PSU with the longer semesters os making me question the work load. If these courses are longer than surely I’ll have less to do each week which means I should be able to take more than 2 classes (say 3 or 4) and keep my work load similar to what I’m already experiencing.
Can you guys post your canvas course outlines for me to see so I can see what a typical weekly module looks like?
I’m majoring in security and risk analysis if that helps.
For more context I have a lot of kids and work full time. 2 classes per 8 week semesters seems to be the correct work load for me.
