2023.06.09 06:58 DeadEyeDoubter Fox Float X 2022 Oil Fill Plug Custom Fitting for Syringe

I would like to be able to do a full rebuild on my Float X 2022 shock at home. The main unknown around this process I have is figuring out a fitting to connect to the oil fill port. The full service is documented here and fox does list a part number ( PN 803-01-691 ) for their official vaccuum fitting adapter.
My ideal plan would be to just be able to hook up a syringe to that oil fill port and perform the vacuum bleed slowly with just the syringe since I don't have/want to buy a vacuum pump and I think I could purge enough air that way if I'm slow and take my time.
I can find that specific part number for sale but it's kinda expensive at around $70+ dollars and given my syringe plans, that fitting seems a bit overkill. I can't seem to find anything to indicate what the thread pitch of the oil fill port is either. Even if I end up having to buy the actual fitting from fox I don't really know what the thread pitch is on the female side of the actual fitting so would need to figure that out as well. The service on Fox's site shows a standard air fitting threaded into it so I assume that's maybe some standard thread but I'm not really sure.
I at one point found a post on a pinkbike forum of a guy who had created a custom bleed setup for the float x 2022 but I reached out to him to see what details he had around fitting thread pitches and the like but got no response so figured I'd see if anyone here has any answers. Hard to find too much info about servicing this shock DIY specifically since it's still relatively new.

I was looking all over the city and surrounding for a 2023/2024 Kia Seltos EX. I was told by a few dealerships that there are none left anywhere and Kia Canada is not currently allowing custom orders.
I was able to put a $500 refundable deposit for a 2024 expected for July/Aug and was told that once they get one coming, I would be called and advised of the colour and then my name would be assigned to the VIN if I agreed to that colour. I was told that the price will be MSRP plus $895 doc fee, $995 prep fee, plus tax and that this price should stay the same since MSRP only drops when a new model year starts and we are already starting 2024s.
Meanwhile, another dealership let me be added to their waitlist without a deposit and said they'll call me if they have a car coming in. They only have the $895 doc fee plus tax and no prep fee. They said 3-4 months likely (in May).
Questions: 1) Historically in Canada you would only pay one $500ish doc fee. These fees (especially at the first dealership) are ridiculous. Will I have any negotiating power to reduce them given the fact that I'm on a waitlist for a popular vehicle? 2) Will I have any other negotiating power? 3) Should I drop the first dealership and just pray the second one works out?

Hello everyone So my dog is about to be 4 in august and I’ve had her for a little over a year now. Since I’ve had her her behaviors have not gotten better they basically have stayed the same. She is heavily reactive towards dog so much that In daycare she has to be 1 on 1 with a staff member which defeats the point of me trying to socialize her as much as I can. She’s terrible off leash and has gotten loose and ran away 3 times so we don’t even trust her even sitting on the porch with me and my family because of that which sucks because it’s the summer time and I want her to enjoy being outside now that it’s warm. She doesn’t listen all the time I’ll call her name and she won’t even look at me most of the time until I get closer to her to see her face or move around the house. She’s super needy so much that even my mom has noticed that she’s started to need more attention then usual and she didn’t use to be like that. She is not housebroken and even with all of our efforts she still pees in the house and I honestly don’t know why. She growls at my sister when before she used to love my sister so that’s a problem especially when she has my niece but luckily she is very gentle with my niece. She’s afraid of everything which made her not suitable to be trained as a service dog because I have a lot of disabilities so it would’ve been nice to be able to have had her trained to help me with with my ailments when I need them. She has barked and growled at older kids which is an issue that I’ve tried to fix with trainers amongst her other behaviors and sadly nothing has worked and stuck and I’ve paid for 2 trainers so far so it’s getting expensive to keep taking her to people that are skilled to help with this. I’m just honestly frustrated I understand that she’s been through trauma (she was a rescue from a bad situation) and I’ve tried to work through this with her but I’m just at the end of my rope and don’t know what else to do besides maybe take her back to the shelter or maybe find a trainer who might take her to work through her issues day by day I love my dog I just wish she responded to things and reacted like any other dog I see I would love to take her places and go to the dog park and enjoy herself in general so any advice on what to do is appreciated thanks!

2023.06.09 06:55 wolhams Requests keep increasing even though I terminated all active resources

My account has no active resources in Tag Editor. I have no instances running. I also made sure that there were no EBS volumes, elastic ip addreses, etc. I don’t think I have any stacks, subscriptions, etc. in the account.
However, when I check my Billing Console, there are several active services such as CloudWatch, Key Management Service, Simple Storage Service, Secret Manager, etc.
The requests keep increasing but I don’t know why. I tried contacting customer service but was told to remove the services by following the website pages instructions, which I have already done.
I deleted all the VPC and related resources (such as RouteTable and Security Group) and was wondering if that was the cause?
I barely used aws because it was for a free trial from nearly a whole year ago, and I didn’t have these active services besdies the cloudwatch alarm during the whole year except for the first month which had some (which I terminated on the first month). I’m scared that the api requests are going to keep increasing and it seems like I can’t do anything to stop it because I already termimated all of the active resources on my account. Any help is appreciated.

This is currently a hot topic of debate within my friend group because I have many friends, male and female, who work in the service industry.
Recently, I was at a bar that one of my good friends works at. He is one of the only male bartenders.
He was telling me a story about how there is a “regular” who comes in a few times a week. This regular always flirts with the female bartenders, but the other night, he set his sights on one new female bartender in particular.
Apparently, he left her his phone number on the receipt that he signed to pay his tab.
My friend defended the man, saying that the “worst that can happen is that she doesn’t call him!” and therefore the man was justified in leaving his phone number and “shooting his shot.”
I wholeheartedly disagree, and here’s why.
When my friend said “the worst that can happen…” he was referring to the worst that can happen to the MAN.
But what about the worst that can (and does) happen to the woman?
Well, it’s pretty clear to anyone paying attention that the “worst” that happens to women who reject men is violence and/or murder. And it happens every day.
Here’s what I told my friend:
Put yourself in her shoes for a minute. Imagine that you go to work every day and have to deal with strange men flirting with you. Imagine having to see one man in particular on a regular basis. Imagine having to politely interact with this man that you may or may not like. Imagine having him leave you his phone number. Now, imagine the dilemma you would naturally feel. Imagine all the scenarios that could happen if you never text or call him. Imagine the discomfort of seeing this man walk into your bar after you have deliberately not contacted him. Imagine the discomfort of having him ask you why you haven’t contacted him. Imagine having to continue serving him, despite never getting any more tips from him because he feels rejected by you. Imagine coming into work every day, wondering if you will see this man. Wondering if you will have to serve him, despite knowing how resentful he is at you. Imagine the anxiety you would feel walking into work every day, wondering if you’ll have to interact with this man. Imagine how little power you would feel at the prospect of having to come into work every day, never knowing if this man will make an appearance or not.
THIS is the reality of so many women. Men do not understand what it’s like to deal with men AS A WOMAN. They only know what it’s like to deal with men as a fellow man. They have no idea the depths of depravity that women are constantly exposed to by men who feel rejected.
Anyways, my point is this: it is completely inappropriate to leave your phone number or attempt to get the phone number of your waitstaff. It comes off as tone-deaf and makes it appear as though you don’t understand that working for tips means that she has to be nice to everyone, including creepy assholes.

2023.06.09 06:55 itsnotlupus Gemini's US trading pairs and the SEC's list of alleged securities

I was looking at the SEC complaints against other exchanges earlier, and started wondering how they might relate to Gemini.
So far, throughout various legal filings, the SEC has claimed that 67 cryptocurrencies are securities and should be regulated as such.
Meanwhile, Gemini allows its US users to trade 98 cryptocurrencies.
The overlap between the two lists consists of 10 cryptos: AMP, ATOM, AXS, CHZ, FIL, MANA, MATIC, RLY, SAND, SOL
Those are now "Crypto Asset Securities" according to the SEC, and any exchange trading them needs to be registered/licensed with the SEC.
What does that mean for Gemini? Hard to say. Maybe those 10 cryptos will become unavailable to trade for US customers soon.
Then again, the head of the SEC is on the record claiming that pretty much every sort of crypto transaction already falls under the SEC’s jurisdiction except spot transactions in bitcoin itself and the actual purchase or sale of goods or services with cryptocurrencies.
So it's not clear that anything can be durably resolved by delisting a crypto here and there.
Interesting times ahead.

Just sharing my experiences buying a pretty-well-known rep from a pretty-well-known TD. I don’t want to call out the TD or make this about a specific factory or model; it’s really more about my general experience of buying a rep.
The good:
But it doesn’t feel like the real thing in some ways, and buying it was not a great experience.
The meh:
And the ugly: The clasp for the rubber strap broke immediately. And by immediately I mean it broke the moment I tried to thread the watch band through the clasp; the pin was poorly attached and broke on contact. And the reaction from the TD was “oh, that’s broken” and no immediate offer of a replacement. $15 on Amazon to get a generic replacement if the TD ghosts me but still, the clasp manufacturing was clearly shoddy.
Will I buy another rep? Maaaaaaybe. Honestly, something Chinese in the same price tier like a San Martin (I have two) feels like it has better QC and wasn’t as much of a PITA to buy. But for how beautiful the watch looks and for the price and for the personal amusement value of a high-end rep, not too bad. I don’t know that having a local AD is worth paying 20x more, but I do know that buying my gen was a much more pleasant experience, they took care of all the fitting and adjustments, could be trusted for service and repair, and just in general didn’t feel like buying stuff from a shady dude behind a convenience store. That said, it’s a beautiful watch for a fraction of the price of the real thing.
